Whoa! Dude, this is so rad you won't believe it! It's a 42-minute IMAX movie made by MacGillivray Freeman Films, the same guys who made that Everest film, and it is awesome. They filmed all kinds of cool stuff that people do in California--you know, like skysurfing, extreme surfing (dude, wait till you check out the size of these waves!), climbing monster sequoia trees, and walking up to the top of the Golden Gate Bridge. There's a piece about Walt Disney and the first Mickey Mouse cartoon, too. And even if you don't have an IMAX theater in your house, you can still see how amazing the film techniques they used to shoot this stuff are (in fact, there's a 24-minute documentary explaining how they did it). And to top it off, the narration is read by Jimmy Smits, and there are a few tunes by Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac. Man, this is sweet. --Sam Graham

I've seen a lot of IMAX dvds and this is one of the best ones! Lots of different locations with everything from huge waves to huge waterfalls and huge trees to huge bridges!! There's great songs and the shots are amazing!! I use it on my dlp projector and the images and dts soundtrack are amazing!! A must buy for IMAX fans and everybody else...some IMAX movies tend to get boring but this one keeps the interest up and changes enough that you never get tired of a certain scene!! BUY THIS ONE!!

A wonderful way to introduce your kids to the wonders of California. This is a great way to spend an evening in front of the TV and enjoying the great music, visuals, and scenery. The Golden Gate Bridge shots are amazing. Highly recommended !! And if it plays at an IMAX near you, DON'T MISS IT!!!!

I have a 60" Sony widescreen and its awesome watching Adventures in Wild California on it. The music is good and the photography is excellent. I highly recommend this DVD to anyone. DTS IS GREAT!

The opening sequence of the sky divers over San Diego is the high point of the DVD for me; but the entire DVD is well worth watching repeatedly. Movies should take you to places that you may not be able to go in real life, such as skydiving.The Disney chapter was light and fun; especially the first person perspective roller coaster ride. Climbing up and into the giant trees of California again gives us non-climbers unusual views and different perspectives.

I saw the theatrical version of this movie about 3 months ago and just got the DVD release. I thought the film was great when I saw it in the IMAX theater at the Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. However, the DVD just didn't look right to me. The vibrant colors that I saw in the theater were not there and the soundtrack was not transfered very well to either DD 5.1 or DTS 5.1. The DVD was a disappointment. The video quality of the "Making of" feature was not worthy of DVD release.

I own about a dozen IMAX films on DVD. This and another one that I bought at the same time could have been better. Both were released by Image Entertainment. I have gotten some real low quality DVD releases from Image Entertainment and this continues the trend for me.

I've seen a lot of IMAX dvds and this is one of the best ones! Lots of different locations with everything from huge waves to huge waterfalls and huge trees to huge bridges!!
