4 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!!.......2007-05-02

Victor Wong does it again with his cinematic Ninja-y magic, and the boys are back this time and ready to kick some serious booty! This movie is a pure delight.

After the first 3 Ninjas movie, I was thinking how great that these 3 Ninjas can work together to fight the powers of evil, because ninjas customarily work very independently, like a brain surgeon or electrician would. Masters of the ninja sciences know that they are bound by duty, honor, and super high kicks, so to find 3 Ninjas that are on the same page...well, that's just amazing.

The story of 3 Ninjas Kick Back is loosely based on the famous novel "A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich," and for history buffs the film is like a whirlwind travelogue set during the decline of the Roman Empire, with very clear allegorical references to the struggles between the infamous Rasputin and Catherine the Great. When the 3 Ninjas find their three backs against the wall, they fight bad guys like they are going out of style!!!

I love 2/3 of the ninjas, but there's one I just can't stand. You know the one I'm talking about. He's lousy.

A brilliant movie that will make you glad to be a ninja or a lover of ninjas.

5 out of 5 stars Only one kid from the original,but..........2007-03-10

I loved it.It's stood the test of time for me.That could be my nostalgia though.I remember what I liked about it as a kid(and now) was that it took them out of the usual environment...to JAPAN!For being a kid obsessed with the whole japanese influence on America,I almost peed my pants. And I guess from being a kid who didn't have high standards, made me pay no attention to the different actors as Rocky and Tum-Tum.It's got the usual feel of the 1st,with Rocky being involved with a girl,good-guy bad-guy conflicts, etc.Don't expect a masterpiece, but it's a decent kid movie.

4 out of 5 stars as good as the first if not a tad better.......2006-06-23

As with my review in 3 Ninjas Knuckle Up, I have to make something clear. The original 3 Ninjas trilogy was released out of order. First came 3 Ninjas (1992), then 3 Ninjas Knuckle Up which was shot back to back with the first movie (also 1992) though not released until 1995, then 3 Ninjas Kick Back (1994) which is actually the 3rd installment of the official triology. Having said that, I will now review 3 Ninjas Kick Back. Now I realize that alot of the reviewers favor the original 3 Ninjas but for some reason I tend to favor Ninjas Kick Back a bit more. Anyway, the humor and the fight/action scenes are all good and not so much over-the-top as was in the 2nd movie 3 Ninjas Knuckle Up. The actors of the parents of the 3 Ninjas from the first film return (the mom is kind of a babe in my opinion), Victor Wong returns yet a third time as the grandfather, and Max Elliot Slade returns for the third time as Colt. The actors for Rocky and Tum Tum are different but still do a good job. I also liked the soundtrack to this movie as well. I especially liked the tune that followed everytime Tum Tum yells "Scramble!". As for the plot, the 3 Ninjas get a chance to go to Japan with their grandfather but little do they know that an enemy from their grandfather's youth has been plotting revenge. That's all I will give away concerning the plot though trust me, the plot is good. Other things I liked about this movie are the character developments and the brief insight of the japanese culture regarding sight seeing. As for the characters, the 3 Ninjas act more grown up with the exception of Tum Tum and the main villain's goons aren't quite as dumbed down as was in the first two movies. 3 Ninjas Kick Back completes the third of the official trilogy. Like the others, however, the DVD has no extras. This is sad! Oh, if you are a fan of the 3 Ninjas films then you may want to stay clear of the fourth installment with Hulk Hogan. It is geared towards small children in addition to none of the actors from the previous films returning with the exception of a brief appearance of Victor Wong as the grandfather. Of course if you are a parent, you may not consider these flaws to be a bad thing but just remember... I told you so!

5 out of 5 stars Great Service!!.......2006-01-31

I ordered the movies, and they were on my doorstep a day after!Great service!!! Great Delivery!!! I will be ordering again!

4 out of 5 stars The best 3 ninjas movie.......2005-03-03

This movie is fun and has lots of action. Rocky and Tum tum changed actors, but the movie is still good. Unlike High Noon on Mega Mountian. That is a movie you should stay away from it puts 3 ninjas to shame. Stick with the other 3 and you'll have a ggod time.

3 out of 5 stars "Can You Hear Me Now?" ~ Exploring Both The Tender And Tough Persona of Sasha Mitchell.......2006-11-27

"The Body And The Mind Do Not Always Travel Together" ~ Part 3

"Kickboxer 3: The Art Of War" takes a surprisingly different approach from the expected and spends the larger portion of the film exploring the kinder, gentler, more philosophical side of Sasha Mitchell in the starring role of American kickboxer David Sloan. Touched by the plight of Brazilian poverty and the sight of a young boy and his teenage sister living on the streets David and his friend and trainer take them under his wing and devise a plan to alter their destines for the better. When the girl is kidnapped by a prostitution/slavery ring David makes it his business to rescue her.

Yes, there is some kickboxing in the film. It just so happens that the man behind the abduction is also the owner of the vicious kickboxer David is scheduled to fight in defense of his title. Winner gets the girl.

Short on fighting but Sasha Mitchell's easy going demeanor makes for an enjoyable viewing. In case you need more to keep you watching take a long look at Alethea Miranda in the role of the kidnapped Isabella. That should hold your attention until the end.

"The Most Dangerous Weapon In The Universe Is A Focused Mind" ~ Part 4

"Kickboxer 4: The Aggressor" marks the return of Tong Po. David's task is to sneak into Tong Po's private kickboxing tournament in Mexico, free his kidnapped wife and bring an end to Po's nefarious drug dealing. You know what happens.

This poor man's version of Bruce Lee's `Enter the Dragon" is a good watch overall with lots of fighting and a pretty girl or two to spice things up. What male could resist the lovely Jill Pierce in the role of Darcy, the tournament hostess?

4 out of 5 stars not as good as the first Kickboxers, but good price for 2 films on one dvd.......2006-08-19

    KICKBOXER 3
3 STARS - DISAPPOINTINGLY NO TONG PO

Kickboxer 3 goes away from the first two movies with the absenece of the impressive villain, Tong Po. David Sloan and Xian return though, and fly to Brazil where David is to fight the Argentina fighter, Eric Martine, for the lightweight world kickboxing championship. While in Brazil, David and Xian meet and become friends to a homeless boy and his older sister. David also meets Eric Martine's promoter, Frank Lane, who is inviting to David and Xian but secretly steals the boy's older sister to sell into prostitution. Lane captures David and puts him through excrutiating training, hoping David will be too weak for the fight against Martine.

The story in Kickboxer 3 is pretty decent, but its harder to appreciate it with the absence of Tong Po. There aren't many fights in the movie, and only two that are decent. The first is an exhibition match between Martine and another fighter. The best fight in the movie is between David and Martine. Its about a 5 minute fight that begins in the ring but ends on the arena floor with the surrounding crowd cheering on. I really like this fight and I wished it were longer (especially when they fight outside the ring on the floor). Also worth mentioning, there is a small scene of Caporeia fighters in the beginning of the movie that is beautiful to watch.

Kickboxer 3 overall turns out to be nothing more than an average martial arts flick. After Kickboxer 5, it is the worst in the franchise. Its not a bad movie, but Kickboxer 1, 2, and 4 have a lot more to offer, especially action and fighting.

    KICKBOXER 4
4 STARS - TONG PO RETURNS

Many people would love to give this movie far less than four stars, but Kickboxer 4 really is better than a lot of American martial art movies. No, its not a classic like the first 2 kickboxers or bloodsport, and its not as intense on fighting as Shootfighter or Best of the Best 2. But overall, Kickboxer 4 delivers (as a good B-rated movie in the genre of American martial arts). The action is a plenty, there is a tournament, good-looking locales, and acting that isn't terrible along with a story that has a decent plot.

Sasha Mitchell is the only returning star from any of the 1st 3 Kickboxers. Still playing the lead role of David Sloan, this time out the character is a lot darker and far-less laid back than in the previous 2 films (probably because his wife has been kidnapped and he has been framed for murder in the beginning of the movie). Although many would disgree with the turnaround of his character, it sets Kickboxer 4 up for a lot more fights. Tong Po returns, but instead of being played by Michel Qissi, Kamel Krifia takes over. Unfortunately, his fake make-up and higher voice doesn't set quite a villainous tone for Po, as compared to the 1st 2 Kickboxers. But, there is still something about him that still makes the villain role convincing enough.

Kickboxer 4 has a lot of fighitng, both in and out of the tournament. There is a bar fight near the beginning of the movie where Sloan kicks everyone butt and doesn't get hit once. The tournament has plenty of fights, though most are short and unimpressive. There is one fighter that does some Caporeia, which I think is always great to watch. Tong Po fights very little, only near the end of the movie against David Sloan. The fight is good, with Po and Sloan fighitng it out outside on table tops covered with dishes and glasses for about 2 minutes, but it could have been so much cooler if Tong Po connected with maybe one hit. Unfortunately, its Sloan all the way from the beginning of the fight.

Kickboxer 4 has its flaws, but if the flaws were corrected it may very well have been a 5 star rating by me. The movie is still entertaining from start to finish. The movie ends with a hopefull return of Tong Po, but Kickboxer 5 blew the pants off of that one.

2 out of 5 stars 4 edges out 3 just for being more violent, wht else can I rate these stupid movies........2006-03-26

So I still need to see the 2nd one again after not seeing it for many many years, but here is my review for this dvd.

Kickboxer 3 - These types of movie are SO difficult to watch. The characters are all acting ok, but the storyline is on par with any linear story that has ever been done. I wish that I could give this a good review cause I like cody from step by step, and he can't do anything great in terms of high quick legs or really fast fist forms, but he does make up a little but for that in his power. Though the action director doesn't showcase it, you can tell that cody has plenty of power. I would love to give you some long review and give you the whole storyline but , you know what, I guess I can, Cody is going to a tournament, a guy doesn't want him to fight in it so his guy can win, so this guy acts nice at first and then when cody won't accept an invitation to throw a fight for money, he gets mean and since he is also like a slave trader he decides to put cody through some hell training with 1 enjoyable moment out of like 8 scenes.

Alright so i reviewed the story only because it is no goddang simple.

Overall this movie is not suggested by me and you should only watch it if you have seen every good kungfu movie, and I haven't even come close, so this sucked.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Kickboxer 4 - Now this movie actually had the potential to be good unlike the last one. You get the impression that they are actually going to have a tournament in this one and they almost give you double digits in fights.

Since this was almost watchable, I will go over the strong points:

-Hot girl who can fight, always a good thing.
-Cody getting to show off a little bit and he actually looks decent in this one.
-Having a tournament and actually showing some fights, none that are good, but some that I would give a 2/5.
-Even hotter girl-this one even gets down.

    Horrible things about this movie:

-Guy who looks like the abd guy from original kickboxer is really hard to look at. If you are gonna get a look-a-like, at least get a fighter, and maybe he can fight, but if he can, let him. So something was very wrong there, and almost as bad as that was his make up. They used a very tan person so when he took off his shirt, his face looked white in comparison to his golden skin. Very hard to watch.
-Guy who is a b movie actor and can fight, but acting ability can be rivaled by any male soap opera star.
-Bad guy doesn't notice cody is in the tournament until the end.
-This aspect of the movie is so bad that it is funny. Every time cody would fight, something would distract him from seeing cody's face like his girl being kissed, truly funny stuff.

So final fight ranks #384,225th on my all-time list, pretty good.

2 out of 5 stars 3 stars for Kickboxer 3, one star for Kickboxer 4.......2005-06-27

Oh, what a mixed bag we have here! Sasha Mitchell returns for Kickboxer 3 as David Sloan along with the trainer (I don't know his name) from the first two Kickboxers. Instead of training in the ring, they take a vacation to Rio where David ends up fighting a champion kickboxer and along the way ends up getting caught in the traingle of a crimeboss who kidnaps and sells teenage girls. Overall, Kickboxer 3 doesn't have quite the martial arts action that the first two have which is probably why it received mixed reviews but it is an action packed movie no doubt. Kickboxer 3 is not oscar winning material (probably because it is direct to video) but it is worth a look if you liked the first two Kickboxers.
Now for Kickboxer 4... I'll start off by saying that the Kickboxer series should haved ended as a trilogy because Kickboxer 4 suffers from "direct to video" script flaws. Sasha Mitchell yet again returns along with the character of Tong Po though played by a different actor. The trainer from the first three kickboxers does not return and after seeing this movie its no wonder why he didn't. And while I'm at it, this movie was not produced by the same person who did the first three Kickboxers. Ok, moving on... David Sloan learns while he is in prison (which goes unexplained as to how he got there) that his wife was mysteriously captured by Tong Po and in order to get her back he must fight in a tournament that is held by Tong Po. You find (if you choose to watch Kickboxer 4) that it is somewhat of a rip off of Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon. None of the characters put up much of a fight and seeing Tong Po in action unlike Kickboxer 1 & 2 is an absolute joke. Like Kickboxer 3 however, this movie did have some likeable characters but that's about the extent of it. Overall, Kickboxer 4 is the bad apple of the series. I'll bet the producers discussing how to make this movie went something like this... "Well, since Kickboxer 4 won't hit the theaters due to the lack of decent fight scenes and a good story, let's fill up the gaps with some pointless sex & nudity in hopes that the audience won't notice the other flaws."
My advice to any Kickboxer fans out there is that you skip this one and stop after Kickboxer 3.

This film is pretty average. However, I am a fan of Ng See Yuen and Corey Yuen's fight chereography action films which is why I have rated this DVD number 4. Anyway, this film is about Drew Carson a normal teenager who is a martial arts competitor but is humiliated in front of a National Audience by his opponent. After losing miserably to his rival, Trevor in that particular martial arts tournament he decides to carry on his sensei's dream to become a Shaolin Monk and to seek further assistance from the monestary. When Drew arrived to the temple he was refused entry and thrown of the premises but refused to leave. Eventually, the monks agreed to take him on and Drew has become the first American Shaolin.

3 out of 5 stars Third times the charm for "Kickboxer" fans!.......2003-11-11

Switching up the story a little bit, this third entry in the "Kickboxer" series has Sloan and trainer Xian headed to Rio for an exhibition bout. While there, they discover that their opponent's manager is actually a rich "playboy" who has gained his massive fortune by selling kidnapped women to his customers for sexual purposes. When the sister of a young boy that they have befriended is kidnapped, Sloan aims to get her back by any means neccessary.

Not only are there a few nice martial arts sequences here but you get a couple of shoot-outs as bullets fly through mansions with Sloan and Xian declaring war on anyone in their way. The returning Mitchell and Denis Chan are what keeps this sequel afloat. Some may be turned off by the slight change in the plot but in my opinion, it keeps things interesting. "Kickboxer 3" is pretty much the best you're gonna get from a straight-to-video sequel to a genre flick.

3 out of 5 stars Almost better than the first..........2002-09-15

Sasha Mitchell is back and this time we get a better plot, better humor, and better fight scenes. David Sloan (Mitchell) and trainer Xian (Dennis Chan) are in Rio for an exhibition charity match, and then a championship match. They brefriend two homeless kids and become entangled in a web of crime. Entertaining if you like martial-arts flicks, which I do. I had some fun watching this one and was left smiling, though unchanged by the movie. I first saw this flick during a "Kickboxer" marathon. I had no clue what was in store for me in "Kickboxer 4."

I dont think kickboxer 3 is as good as kickboxer 1 & 2, but it is alright. I think there needs to be more fights, and less gun shooting. I mean Sasha Mitchell is a kickboxer not a gun fighter. That is what makes this movie look fake.

5 out of 5 stars This movie is one of my favorites!.......1999-05-28

I LOVED this movie! I saw all the kickboxer movies with Sasha Mitchell, and this was my favorite. Kickboxer 2 was too dark and depressing and Kickboxer 4 was too much like so many other martial arts movies, Kickboxer 3 was beautifully set, with a cool plot. This movie not only provided entertainment but it also got me back into the martial arts after several years away.
