You will see first hand how and why the JKA developed such awesome power in their techniques as you watch K. Enoida beating a Makiwara like only he can do.

These tapes are exceptionally clear and show everything from warm up drills and basics to advanced kata's. performing these kata's are the top JKA Masters of the period including Nakayama Sensei performing Unsu. 1 out of 5 stars Money for old rope!.......2006-06-20

Yet another unbelievably bad job of editing together some really poor footage and claiming it to be a historically significant program. A professional editor would not be able to produce work this bad even if he really tried, and he would certainly never put his name on it if he did.
As a professional video/DVD reviewer I am amazed that anyone would have the audacity to offer material of this abysmal quality for sale, and embarrassed for the people who are gullible enough to buy it.

5 out of 5 stars JKA Masters 60's.......2005-10-28

Very historical and knowlegeable gives alot of detail into every technique, amazing footage that I have never seen before. A DVD you must have.

4 out of 5 stars think twice you really need it or not.......2004-01-26

good:
-karate value
(basic attacker areas, basic techniques, makiwara, kata, some kata explanation etc)

neutral-bad:
-Black and white film quality (It is poor, but I saw an old 8mm b/w copy once, it was similar. Possible it can't be better. It is very far from dvd quality)
-I found the English commentator unusable. (It must be a few mins common historical comment, doesn't fit for film. +English isn't my native languege :) )
-English foot is usable, but there is different spelling now in some word.
-Simple packing.
-Dvd wasn't in the center of its box, it was fully scratched...
-Unreal price/quliaty rate. (and JKA masters of '50s and '70s are just 30min and 45min in same price...)
------------------------
Buy: if you are bit fanatic; if you think masters need to practice basics too;

Don't buy: if you think karate is just a collection of punches and kicks; if you want show; etc
------------------------
I vote 4* because I found karate value is better than everything else.
------------------------
Please read a review of ' JKA masters of '50s ', it is very negative, but I agree with it often.
