comletely pissed at this dvd.......2004-12-28

for those of us older kung fu movie heads i had to say i saw this movie for the first time when i was about 13 and i can say the dvd i recieved sucked they sliced some serious plot scenes out of this movie and even the ending has been sliced out of this movie what gives!!!?

Can You Say..."Steaming TURD!!!" ?.......2005-03-07

No wonder Wu-Tang has a rep about as good as Enron these days...what a steaming turd this thing is.

Even at nine bucks I felt ripped off!...and to think when artists and rappers today are crying about bootlegs...what does one of their own go out and do, but rape and pillage then sell one of the movies the Wu supposedly love the same way they cry about the street corner doing to them.

Not to mention, the original beats they talk about in this thing amount to handful of one note poundings from what sounds like a kids toy over a standard drum bass beat resulting in what sounds like someone pounding on a coffee can in a closet.

Such a piece of poop...I would run as far away from this waste of time as I could, and I am surprised that whoever is distributing this piece of crime is not worried about doing some time themselves for counterfeiting, but maybe that is why it was only nine bucks?..who knows...it's still a crime & crying shame.

If you really need to check this out for yourself...just wait for it to plop into the ninety nine cent bin if it isn't there already or buy it used for a buck on Amazon.

If you are feeling my two cents...do yourself a favor and just go buy the original. which is titled "Duel of the Iron Fists" or "Duel of the Fists" for short when you do your search.

You can't go wrong with the original and you won't have to tolerate the terrible re-dubbing a junk beats that to me sounded like forks on a chalk board and two dudes on portable tape recorder in their closet. All I can say is...Buyer Beware!

It ain't a movie, but if you want to see some funny hip hop artists dubbing martial arts films...check out the tv series called "Kung Faux"...I have seen it on a couple of tv channels in Canada and the States when I was working in Montreal and New York and I have the dvd, which is more like a tv show on dvd than a film, but it is freaking hilarious with tons of great music, even big hits that I remember from the 80' and 90's like Pac Jam and Hip Hop Hooray, so I think you know by now where my money was best spent.

How much fun this film can be, in the right crowd. We recently did a "HK Kung Fu" movie night, and a challenge was made to bring the "best of the worst." Our man threw down with IRON FIST PILLAGE, and come out undefeated.

Fun if you're in a light hearted mood, looking for a non-serious film.

It was, sadly, shown after "Hero", so we'd been spoiled ahead of time.

Kung Faux first!.......2003-11-29

If you want the best in kung fu meets hip hop dvds. You should do yourself a favor and pick up one of the Kung Faux series dvds first. It might cost a little more, but it's the best!

this is the BEST of vintage kung-fu meets hip-hop. I put this on at a party and everybody was rollin! Plus the music rocks! Cappadonna's wearing some crazy Chinese helmet! Get it!

First Class martial art action in a double disc set.......2006-10-06

This is the story of Wong Kei Ying the father of the great Wong Fei Hung potrayed several times in Once Upon A Time in China series by the great Jet Li. This double disc set is a knockout and the fighting is nonstop, the action is centered around a good story about his training, dedication to his Master and political beliefs and the love of a woman. I was really excited to see that my favorite villian Lung Wei had a major role in this film.I enjoyed disc one over disc 2 but other viewers must draw their own conclusions. The first disc is a five star movie, disc two would be a 4 star for my overall rating of the high end.

Wow,,I'm not sure what movie that other reviewer saw,,,but it cannot be the same one I'm writing about "The Secret Of Shaolin poles". I though this flick was really good,,,there were fight scenes from the time the flick started to the end. Meng Fi played the famous "Fung Sai Yuk",,and he did an amazing job. The fight scenes were brilliantly choregraphed,,the cinematography was just amazing. The flick is definately up there among the best of the Shaw brother's productions. This is a must check out,,,,ignore that other guys review. Feel free to visit "[...], you see hundreds of viewers gave this flick no less than 4 stars.

Although the movie is decent, the quality of the dvd is not, it has problems with sudden freezes at times, que quality of the picture is below standards and the ending of the movie is cutoff so there's no ending scene. A very dissapointing dvd.

This is NOT Duel Of The Iron Fist.......2005-03-06

Do not be fooled by the change of title, this is NOT Duel Of The Iron Fist...not entirely.

The VHS version of this classic film is called Duel Of The Shaolin Fist, and is edited for TV, minus much of the fight scenes, especially the final one. It's at least in wide screen, which is a plus. It clocks in at 90 minutes.

This DVD version clocks in at 98 minutes, but is full screen (meaning that we get to miss the sides of it all, including half their faces, at times). In addition, the ending is once again cut out of the film.

When will we be able to get the full-length, uncut version, in glorious wide screen? I doubt that I'll live long enough to see it again.

Awful work on this fantastic film. Don't waste your money.

not bad for an early kung fu flick.......2005-01-13

Duel of the Iron Fist was made and released before Bruce Lee took the world by storm, so the fight choreography in this movie is not the best, not saying that it is the worst either. Bruce Lee would later provide the formula for martial arts choreography. Duel of the Iron Fist is still worth viewing. The story is great, the acting is great and the fights are entertaining. It stars both David Chiang and Ti Lung, who are 2 of the better actors in Kung-Fu Cinema and it's directed by my favorite martial arts director Chang Cheh. So if you love old school Shaw Brothers than view this flick, if your'e expecting something like Jackie Chan or Jet Li, look elsewhere

CLASSIC KUNG-FU MOVIE.......2005-01-03

A YOUNG STREETFIGHTER RETURNS HOME TO FIND OUT WHO KILLED HIS GODFATHER. GREAT STORYLINE AND GOOD FIGHT SCENES. IF YOU LIKE OLD SCHOOL MARTIAL ARTS MOVIES, YOU SHOULD HAVE NO PROBLEMS ENJOYING THIS MOVIE. IT EVEN HAS AN ENDING I DIDN'T SEE COMING.

Only if you like old-school fu.......2004-08-24

For those not in the know, this was the second martial arts film shown in America (Yes, even before the late, great Bruce Lee's Golden Harvest classics became available). Being a Shaw Brothers movie directed by the greatest HK director ever, Chang Cheh, this film has its merits, but considering the talent behind it, it's somewhat disappointing in the choreography department. It has a decent story with good performances by Ti Lung & David Chiang, arresting visuals by Chang Cheh, glossy cinematography by Kung Mu-To, but what is up with the sloppy choreography by The Pops~Liu Chia-Liang?! Being an old-school fan who saw this on a rainy Saturday afternoon as a kid, I can be forgiving (to be fair, it does have an action-packed ending including a bamboo pole duel between David & Lung in the rain), but I do NOT recommend this for younger fans raised on Jackie Chan or Jet Li. If you're a fan of Shaw Brothers (like me) and/or Chang Cheh (like me), then you probably already saw this movie and can decide for yourself. If you're not familiar with the aforementioned names, then I suggest you check out some later Chang Cheh films he made with the Venoms. They never disappoint!
