The new version of the DVD is a ton better then the horrid Goodtimes release. The disc is in Anamorphic Widescreen and the sound quality is really decent. No real extras except a trailer. Not a Blockbuster film but still decent. Hope this helps.

I have the VHS tape of this movie & will continue to own it while this Goodtimes version of this great movie is on the shelf. I have not watched this movie for the fact that Goodtimes will screw up a good movie with bad quality picture, sound, & all around basics. The movie itself is great to watch with Weller & Elliott in the action scenes & the story is just all in your face. The only problem is this movie was not released by MCA Home Video, if it had been you would have a great movie on DVD instead of this blurred & muffled sound version.

I swear when I saw this in the cinema there was areally hot sex scene between Weller and Charbonneau, but it's been completely cut in the DVD. ...

In a year when Die Hard, Midnight Run, and Action Jackson ruled the screens lies an overlooked, underrated film called Shakedown directed by James Glickenhaus. A shining example of what a true star Peter Weller is. And here's something for you movie buffs. When Weller and Elliot are walking out of the movie theater, the two movies that are being shown (The Exterminator and The Soldier) were also directed by Glickenhaus. Great stuntwork and a nice chase scene.

Another winner from underrated action director James Glickenhaus. Peter Weller and Sam Elliott star as a public defender and undercover cop who team up to take down a ring of dirty cops and a drug kingpin played by Antonio Fargas. Very well written, but the dialogue comes second to the action sequences, which are great. The best are a footchase through Coney Island that leads to a fistfight on a moving rollercoaster and a motorcycle/police car chase through Times Square. The stuntmen really have their work cut out for them in this one.

I was really excited when I first saw these DVDs on the web. As an admitting space geek I wanted to have all of the Apollo DVDs, of course. So I thought starting off with the first DVD was smart. Well, I was wrong. I thought you would actally hear the matching air-to-ground communications on every part, but except for the launch sequence and the TV-transmissions all you hear is audio from pre- or postflight press conferences and interviews. I'm not saying, that the audio is bad or not interesting, and the video you see is awesome, but I'd rather watch the video and hear the real audio from the flight, air-to-ground com. or onboard voice recorder and not press conference material.
I just hope that the following DVD's have matching audio and video and in total more material.

4 out of 5 stars Missed opportunity.......2005-04-06

My reasons for giving it 4 stars are:

* I was disappointed with the material on the Saturn IB presented in this DVD. Spacecraft Films could have introduced some pictures of the rocket being assembled in the launch pad. That material is very difficult to find, as opposed to assembling a Saturn V (say).

* There is a long sequence focusing on Glynn Lunney in Mission Control during the flight. The audio is of an interview, thus unrelated to the sequence. You have no clue what the flight controllers are doing, or why you are watching them doing whatever they are doing. This makes the sequence rather uninteresting.

* The multi-angle Saturn IB launch. The angles become available almost at rocket ignition, so you have to be very quick to switch angles. It is a pitty that Spacecraft films did not start the multiangle at T-1 min (say), to give the viewer time to enjoy the final seconds of the countdown. The tracking and staging of the rocket are good, though.

I have many of Spacecraft films' DVDs, including the excellent Apollo 13 and Apollo 11, and the two Saturn DVDs. Therefore I was disappointed when I saw the Apollo 7 DVD, specially because of the lack of potentially interesting material (e.g. stacking of the rocket stages, launch).

5 out of 5 stars First manned launch of Apollo spacecraft........2005-03-07

This was a very important mission, that tested the Apollo CSM block II spacecraft. The block II design was a redesign-after the Apollo 1 fire that killed Grissom, White, and Chaffee just 21 months prior to the launch of Apollo 7. The mission was a complete success, and encouraged NASA to make a bold leap forward-to lunar orbit with Apollo 8.
The footage of preparation, launch, and the mission is just spectacular. This is the best look at a Saturn 1B launch you will ever get(multi-angle). If you've ever taken Kennedy Space Center's "Then and Now Tour", and been to Pad 34, you will really want this DVD set. It is among my favorites, and I just got it yesterday!

Director Brian Katkin delivers an over the top action thriller, that not only has a devastating earthquake, but a bank robbery and a mad religious fanatic set to release the deadly Pandora virus on the world because his son was killed in an FBI raid. While the CGI earthquake effects are far from great, the movie's fierce pacing and some neat performances from Ron Perlman, Erika Eleniak and Wolf Larson combine to make this a lot better than it should have been. There's so much chaos going on it's hard to keep up with. What's really "amusing" is that even after the earthquake all but levels the bank, the robbers, SWAT team and terrorists continue shooting like nothing happened.
Far-fetched and implausible, SHAKEDOWN nevertheless delivers an earthshattering experience!

2 out of 5 stars A Rumble in the Rubble ..........2002-07-14

Welcome to B-movieland!! For that's what Shakedown unfortunately turns out to be. Billed as a disaster/bank heist/raving loony-type-terrorist kindova of movie, poor Shakedown doesn't really succeed at being anything at the end of the day but a bit of a mish-mash.

The cast isn't bad though, with a nice well-rounded performance by the good-humoured Wolf Larsen and Erika Eleniak doing her best to keep up, the action trips along very nicely, thank you very much.

But the real star of the movie is Ron Perlman, whose scene-chewing performance as the deadly-dangerous religious nut St Joy steals every scene he is in. In a part that could be hammed to death, Perlman plays it straight - and turns in a creepy, chilling performance that is waaaaay too good for a film like this. If the producers could have put him in every scene the result would have been a godsend in a film full of stock footage and very shaky (if you'll excuse the pun) CGI work.

But if you like lots of maniacal gunfire, a nonsensical plot and some pretty personable acting, then Shakedown may just be the film for you.

    Littles did his thing directing this dvd. The visuals and animations were off the hook. In this video you were able to truely learn how Chamillionaire IS the Mixtape Messiah! This was unlike your average street dvds where they talk about NOTHING. I love all of Littles work...The Feeding, American Dream, Reloaded! Keep doing your thing Littles and Chamillionaire!

      This film is great, with outtakes aswell, kept me amused for hours! Riders include: JP Walker, Seth Huot, Shaun White, Jeremy Jones, Kale Stephens... Great moves, Great Movie.

        Director Brian Katkin delivers an over the top action thriller, that not only has a devastating earthquake, but a bank robbery and a mad religious fanatic set to release the deadly Pandora virus on the world because his son was killed in an FBI raid. While the CGI earthquake effects are far from great, the movie's fierce pacing and some neat performances from Ron Perlman, Erika Eleniak and Wolf Larson combine to make this a lot better than it should have been. There's so much chaos going on it's hard to keep up with. What's really "amusing" is that even after the earthquake all but levels the bank, the robbers, SWAT team and terrorists continue shooting like nothing happened.
        Far-fetched and implausible, SHAKEDOWN nevertheless delivers an earthshattering experience!

        Welcome to B-movieland!! For that's what Shakedown unfortunately turns out to be. Billed as a disaster/bank heist/raving loony-type-terrorist kindova of movie, poor Shakedown doesn't really succeed at being anything at the end of the day but a bit of a mish-mash.

        The cast isn't bad though, with a nice well-rounded performance by the good-humoured Wolf Larsen and Erika Eleniak doing her best to keep up, the action trips along very nicely, thank you very much.

        But the real star of the movie is Ron Perlman, whose scene-chewing performance as the deadly-dangerous religious nut St Joy steals every scene he is in. In a part that could be hammed to death, Perlman plays it straight - and turns in a creepy, chilling performance that is waaaaay too good for a film like this. If the producers could have put him in every scene the result would have been a godsend in a film full of stock footage and very shaky (if you'll excuse the pun) CGI work.

        But if you like lots of maniacal gunfire, a nonsensical plot and some pretty personable acting, then Shakedown may just be the film for you.
