Ditto to all comments before me. Simply amazing! Great to see him show off his wonderful talents in such a clear concise manner where the focus is applied mostly to him. It is really a personal experience to see him up close like this.

Like Yes, after 35 yrs, he sounds as great as ever.

The delicate sounds changes to agressive and back so brilliantly.

Steve Howe is amazing and is in a class of his own! Buy this, you will not regret it.

    5 out of 5 stars I loved it.......2006-05-02

Great, great, great DVD from Steve Howe. So nice to see "Pennants" performed live. Great all around song selection.
The bonuses are great, too. I love the interviews with Steve's sons Virgil and Dylan. What fine players they are!
Seeing their life on the road was very fun.
Just an all around fun DVD, escpecially for Steve Howe fans.
Oh - and the acoustic set from Steve is AMAZING!

    5 out of 5 stars WHILE ROME'S BURNING....................2006-02-12

...The Howe family (and friends) are creating a little slice of human enlightenment...or is it Small Acts of Human Kindness? Thanks Steve (and the whole group) for FINALLY releasing a dvd highlighting so much of your great music. Hey, I'm floored with the "Steve Howe Acoustic" section, first of all (I would love a long dvd like this)! The Topographic excerpt clearly shows the incredibly beautiful harmony interlacing that inspired recording. J's Theme just continues the beauty (from the excellent Natural Timbre)! Isn't it nice after all of these years to have the chance to lay it out like this for appreciative fans and music lovers? Mood for a Day and The Clap are songs I have always adored, and the versions here are nearly perfect (I play them both, but this level of presentation is an inspiration, especially Clap). The redo here of To Be Over from Relayer, one of my favorite songs, is a lesson I will watch often to see if I can emulate. Second Initial and Intersection Blues are fun and worthy additions to the Howe to play guitar with melodic/harmonic genius canon (a nod to Chet Atkins I'd say). This is WORTH IT JUST FOR THIS if you are a Howe/YES fan, but the acoustic section is just an EXTRA!

The Main Remedy Live Concert with Dylan, Virgil, Derrick & Ray is a new look at Steve and sons having the time of their lives together (watch the other extra showing how this came together and interviews first before watching the concert itself, the special character of this occasion will be more apparent). The concert starts out nicely with the gentle Small Acts of Human Kindness and builds through Diary of a Man Who Vanished. Sensitive Chaos is really a great song, this is the only live version EVER I believe! Country Viper and Across the Cobblestone warms Steve up for America...If you are a big Howe fan (guitar player especially), you will be foaming at the mouth after the America guitar lead section...Howe stalks the fretboard admirably just like the extended version! He owns this song when it comes to electric guitar. The cool Nature of the Sea (from the first solo album) is a [...] example of the Steve Howe (very unique) musical vision that has been simmering on the backburner far too long - BRING IT ON HOME STEVE! KEEP IT COMING! The other guitar player, Ray Fenwick, is a nice addition to the band, a total pro and Derrick Taylor anchors the show with classy bass playing (you can tell he could tear it up if he was in the spotlight). WURM and CLOSE to the Edge are very fun! Here's an idea...try sitting in the Paris subway (or other public forum) with your case out, play this and watch how many YES fans come out of the woodwork...YOU THINK I'M KIDDING - you could travel the world playing songs like this (great look at quintessential YES classics)? Pennants and Lost Symphony gets the crowd in Newcastle going but While Rome's Burning kicks it into high gear...the energy pours over the ledge and there is no holding back after this - It's an official success! Dylan & Virgil have won over the crowd with their impressive start on a professional touring music career. Dylan especially shows moments of brilliance in the family tradition - I see that Virgil is on his way too (he often sings some nice harmony with Dad, and their voices are almost identical...kinda freaky!). How great would it be to have Rick Wakeman, Alan White, Bill Bruford, etc. hanging around helping you with your chops? Steve does sing a few times, but if you know him after all of these years, it is not an issue - you won't be disappointed. He comes off pretty well on vocals, settled and confident, although we all know he isn't Jon Anderson. The totally TRIPPY Raga/My White Bicycle rendition will have you seeing psychedelic pinwheels on your inner screeningroom, he even puts on the magic psychedelic technicolor jacket for this piece!

This is very enjoyable all through, every minute! And all Howe fans know this is a rare treat...DON'T PASS IT BY! Your harmonic sensibilities will be wrung out like Chinese laundry when you are through with this! I have been watching it over and over...it IS that good! Enjoy and go learn The Clap or J's Theme once and for all with this close-up view. Thanks for bringing us these small acts of human kindness guys, nothing brings more joy than a good song well played (well, almost nothing), this is a very nice addition to the Howe/YES catalogue. Peace through music (it connects us all)!

5 out of 5 stars Steve Howe (the elder) at his very best.......2005-11-01

This DVD is, as others have said, of superior video and audio quality compared to most other DVD items available that include Steve Howe.

I'll go out on a limb here - Though I think that the Yessongs film/dvd shows Steve at his very best at a young age, this new concert video with Remedy shows that Steve can play blistering guitar 30+ years later. You'll find many albums and videos since Yessongs, mostly after the 1980's, that don't seem to show Steve in the best light. THIS video/DVD shows that Steve Howe still retains all of the exquisite technique that drove me crazy for his playing in the first place. Quite frankly, he is unbelievable on this DVD. I don't know if it is because he is playing with talented family members or what, but he ignites the video with masterful playing that is amazing. Plus, we get to see him playing his favorite guitars (like his ES-175d) to perfection - what a wonderful gift! (Literally) I am buying copies of this to give away to family members so they can share the wonder I felt when watching this for the first time.

    5 out of 5 stars Superb.......2005-09-10

Howe fans, run don't walk to buy this DVD. In addition to an hour long concert of Steve Howe's Remedy (Howe w/ sons Dylan (drums) and Virgil (keys) and bassist Derrick Taylor and an accompanying rhythm guitarist), there is a half hour documentary of how Remedy came together and Howe's approach to the tour. There's also a half hour of just Howe's "acoustic" section of the concert, which includes "The Ancient," "Clap," and "Second Initial" among others.

The fact that this is the first time Howe has toured with a full band to perform songs off of his solo albms, notably _The Steve Howe Album_ and _Turbulence_ ("While Rome's Burning" & "Sensative Chaos), is astounding. The performances are great -- Dylan Howe is an excellent drummer. Howe's playing is also excellent, with his electric guitar tone being much stronger than recent performances with Yes. Moreover, songs from _Remedy_ were very, very good -- I wasn't familiar with the album, but hearing them performed on this DVD makes me want to go buy it -- always a good sign.

I watched this DVD the same weekend as watching _Songs from Tsongas_, and the latter didn't come close to holding my attention as much as this one did.

1 out of 5 stars The Remedy for "Remedy".......2007-06-13

I watched about 10 minutes of people overdosing and shooting up, popped the DVD out, stuck it in the car & headed to the video rental store. The film wound up riding around in my car for several days before I decided to see if it got better. So I brought the DVD in from car, waited until I was alone in the house, and watched the film from beginning to end. Sometimes I forget whether I've seen a movie or not; so writing this review will help me to remember NEVER to rent it again. I found it to be poorly done, completely trashy. As one of the characters says, "He's lost his moral compass." Maybe that was the point. There was little else to redeem the film.

Christian Maelen played the lead Bentley and directed himself in his first project as a director. The acting and directing processes are so dissimilar that it's hard to do both concurrently, unless the director's role is relegated to one or two short scenes IMHO. At least, Maelen doesn't do it well. Maelen has a small part in "Brooklyn Rules" with Freddie Prinze Jr. & Alec Balwin that's set for release this year. As Bentley, there really is no depth to the character. He's always high or throwing up over the toilet or foaming at the mouth. He plays a suffering rich boy artist, but the material was so grim that there was NO appeal even with his soulful suffering puppy dog eyes.

Candice Coke plays Bentley's girlfriend. She's done some TV work on "Scrubs," "CSI New York," & "As the World Turns." Her love scene with Bentley was the most interesting section. Coke plays the part fairly well, seeming so sympathetic that the reversal at the end of the film was a surprise. She does an adequate job in a very poor film.

Nicholas Reiner was one of the writers on the film and plays Josh, the drug-dealing friend who winds up with a bullet in his side. The story then revolves loosely about solving his murder until the bodies start piling up at the film's conclusion. Reiner was adequately believable in a film populated by low-life characters.

Rick Aiello whose face is familiar from work on "CSI" & "Law & Order" TV episodes plays the wife beating, drug dealing father who plays with his child and then smashes his girlfriend in the face. The scene where he's sitting there with the needle hanging from his neck and his daughter being taken away by detectives was thrown away at director Maelen's hands, but had the potential to be one of the few affecting scenes in the film.

I think my favorite sleazy performance of the film was by Jon Doscher as Dr. Evan Quinn, a dentist who is in the money and can afford to have illicit substances surround him. The scene where a middle-aged patient cons him into having relations was another low, but actually had some humor. Quinn has a gorgeous girlfriend that he treats poorly.

Krie Alden plays Quinn's girlfriend Melissa. She's a gorgeous red head, probably a model and does a fairly good job of not being too wooden. Maureen Van Zandt, wife of musician Steve Van Zandt, who played Gabriella Dante on a few episodes of "The Sopranos," does a good job as the topless dancer who has a girl on girl scene with Melissa. The situation is tacky as the moral standard is free love and doing drugs.

Ace Frehley does a great job as Johnny, the mystical dealer who supplies Bentley. Johnny is kind of like the tobacco companies, selling product while trying to talk their clients out of using it. As the weathered sage, he probably has some of the best moments of the film.

While there are a few adequate performances in the film, I found the direction not up to the match. I was frequently bored. One scene does not wind you up and send you into the next. Rather there is a succession of low after low that makes one endure sitting through the film. No, I did not like the material and should have read the box more closely. The story also did not make much sense. Frank Vincent, who played Phil Leotardo on "The Sopranos, as Bentley's uncle should have taken a stronger hand. As is, the remedy for "Remedy" is to avoid it. Taxi!

    5 out of 5 stars I love this movie.......2007-03-10

We can't always take cinema seriously. That being said, I loved REMEDY for what it is: a film that DOESN'T take itself seriously and indulges the viewer in the sordid unkempt world of it's rock and roll characters. They screw and drug their way through a murder mystery that keeps you guessing.
Ace Frehley WAS amazing as other reviewers have said, and to those with negative comments- Get a life- obviously this is tongue in cheek stuff- and it's well done at that.

    1 out of 5 stars A movie that isn't worth watching.......2007-02-26

I started to watch this movie and I thought that I was back at work. I work in the social work field and deal with "drug related" problems during my work hours. I didn't like this movie at all. From the first 45 minutes into this movie the plot was totally based on people using drugs and ruining thier lives. Yes, it does tell of what happens to people that "use" and how your life can be messed up. I didn't need to watch this movie for that information. I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about when they were reviewing this movie, but to me this isn't worth my time or money. Definately not recommended to anyone that has a brain and wants to use it.

5 out of 5 stars Ace is back and he told you so..........2007-01-06

I usually do not like this genre of movie but I must say that this flick held my attention from beginning to end. Great story, solid acting and a delightful turn at the end. With Ace Frehley as a brilliantly played Johnny and a couple of Sopranos cast members Remedy packs a decent list of names. Candice Coke is also suberb (not to mention lovely) as Michelle. Try it out, you won't be disappointed.

3 out of 5 stars Ace Frehley Rocks........2005-08-18

Mainly purchased this film a/c Ace Frehley's involvement.
Would'nt say it is a feel good movie, but it was enjoyable to watch. It certainly isn't a shocker.
For the KISS fans out there, it is great to see Ace again!!!

This movie was interesting. I was suprissed to see one of my college classmates as one of the main characters. Demitrus Gibbs (BKA)the rapper Krumb Snatcha. We attended Morris College in Sumter, SC. Big up to B-Town!

    5 out of 5 stars Valentine x Scary Movie!.......2004-01-20

This movie is both funny and scary! When dead bodies start to pile up in some of the hottest clubs in town, a group of rappers and their girls decide to hunt him down. Soon they discover that the killer is a clown! It's a coll Indie film. Get it if you like Indie films or are just in the moodd for a funny scary movie.

    1 out of 5 stars can't think of a catchy title here.......2003-04-13

lets get one thing straight right away here. this is definitely not a suspense or a scary film. apparently its not intended to be either. pretty much one big rap video. just all about music for the most part. only check out if your a huge rap fan. otherwise you won't know what your getting into. ...

    5 out of 5 stars Urban Delight.......2003-01-02

Raging Nation Films has come out with movie #3, and each one just gets better and better! This is a movie full of laughs and suspense that will make you sit up on the edge of your seat until the very end. Don't watch this flick thinking it's going to be "Citizen Kane" or "Casablanca", classics to be sure, but rather dry and stuffy films full of people filling their stereotyped gender and race roles. "Urban Massacre" is one of the best of a new genre, a genre of movies about and in the middle of the hip-hop culture. Grab on to this new wave while you still can, because soon this film will be a "classic" in its own right!

    5 out of 5 stars Straight BLAZE!.......2003-01-02

Hey yall. Just kick back, press play and light up. This joint will have you rolling on the floor in minutes. Too much to single out any one particular scene but the cop dude is the funniest guy since Jim Carey and had us screaming. Other pluses was the music and sex scene. Out.

While aspartame was the single focus in Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World, Sweet Remedy demonstrates that a corrupt flagship regulatory agency has given birth to numerous toxins in our food supply. This is no accident. A close examination of the U.S. Corporate power stucture demonstates that neurotoxic foods resulting in a dumber populace is simply a matter of policy. In the United States and through each nation within its global corporate grasp, maintaining a healthy mind and body is an act of civil disobediance.Ultimately, healing has become the path of resistance for informed individuals improving their health. We interview a host of MD's and Natural Health practioners to gain the clearest possible perspective for a path to recovery. Perhaps the sweetest remedy this film offers is the hope provided by witnessing a variety of groups as they withstand the confusion, casualties and obstacles involved with taking control of their food and their health.
