WOW DANG ONE OF THE BEST MOVE FOR SHORE.......2007-05-08
NOW I COULD EASYLY SAY THIS WILL GO DOWN AS ONE OF THE GRATEST MOVE EVER MADE IN THE WORLD THAT IS SO FOR SHORE & THAT IS PUTTING IT LIGHTLY
Great Chapter Movie........2007-04-15
This movie is devided into chapters and for those of you who don't know them I'l list them here.
Chapter 1. M.Bison creates Blanka and tests him on a dangerous combat course.
Chapter 2. M. Bison commands and leads a raid at a military base Bison then meets up with Guile and they fight inside then outside the base and on a airplane.
Chapter 3. The wanderer Ryu meets and fights dahlsim and later trains with him and learns the yoga fireball.
Chapter 4. Ryu encounters Sagat who challenges him to a match of strength and later Ken walks into the scene and joins the fight.
Chapter 5. Chun-Li fights Zangief who wants to test his strength on small people then a masked fighter(Really Vega)Slashes Zangief a few times Zangief tries to punch him but Vega is just too fast exausted Zangief walks off waving his fist at Vega.
Chapter 6. A fight broke out at a hotel and Dudley jumps into the fray.
Chapter 7. Fei Long and his rival Yang fight in the streets of China each hoping to be the victor Fei Long won the fight and took Yang home.
Chapter 8. T Hawk fights Necro Necro threatens to kill T Hawk's daughter Necro wins the fight and threw T Hawk down a waterfall killing him.
Chapter 9. Ryu knew he would be taking on M. Bison and Akuma so he made a team consisting of himself, Ken, Chun Li, Dahlsim, Sagat, Guile, E Honda, Zangief, Charlie, his apprentice Sakura, Dudley, Fei Long, Yang, Alex, Soldom, and master Gen.
Chapter 10. Ryu and his team take on M. Bison and Akuma and kill M. Bison but not Akuma Akuma then challenges Ryu to fight him alone inside a abandoned church Ryu wins but Akuma secretly escapes no one knows where he went.
And thats where the movie ends so buy it or rent it it's a good movie. Enjoy.
great video game = bad movie.......2007-01-02
One of the greatest video game fighters in history, excluding Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter's popularity eventually produced excitment for a feature film, even starring Jean Claude. The result, a bomb.
Fortunately, Street Fighter is not even as bad as the 2nd Mortal Kombat movie, but it is still pretty poor. I have tried really really hard to enjoy this movie, especially since just about all the Street Fighter characters are in the film and stay fairly close to their video game identities, but the ridiculousy dumb humor, crappy acting, and lack of any good-looking action forces the film to suffer. Jean Claude even looks weak in this film, but compared to the other actors, they still manage to make him look good. The story is weak too, with a lot of nonsense to kill time in what is already a short movie, not even an hour and half. The only highlight is the fight between Bison and Guile (Van Damme), where they actually use some moves from the video game such as Bison's elevation ability and Guile's flash kicks. Unfortunately, editing doesn't make the fight look very real at all.
I only like this movie because I love the video game, and this is the only movie made with these guys, that is not animated. If you don't enjoy the game, you will most likely hate this movie. If you love Van Damme, this is one of his weakest entries. Only obsessed Street Fighter fans will want this film.
not worth the street fight.......2006-09-23
This movie does not even lead up to the game. The plot isn't good at
all. Terrible acting performances by most of the actors/actresses. I
was surprise to know that Kylie Mingoue was Cammy. The fight scenes
were fake. My favorites in the game were Ken and Ryu, and they made
them unreal. And for the rest of the other fighters, their background
stories are also fake and very hard to believe. Basically, the whole
movie from start to end was very boring. In my own opinion...they
SHOULD MAKE A REMAKE OF STREET FIGHTER!!!! SAVE UR MONEY!!!
GACCCCCCCCCCCCCK.......2006-08-08
Terrible movie, bottom line
I guess this 'could' be enjoyable for kids but anyone that was a fan of the Street Fighter video games will be revolted at this hideous piece of work. I watched this with friends when we had a 'Bad Movie Night' and I suppose it has SOME merit when used for that purpose, but it was so poor I don't know if I could even watch it again for that reason.

Based on the video game, Street Fighter II: the Animated Movie (1994) is the first feature in the popular continuity that includes a second animated film, a TV series, an OAV, and a live-ction feature. With physiques that Mr. Olympia would envy and moves that would shame Bruce Lee, Ryu and Ken Masters rank as the world's greatest martial artists. They face a dire challenge when Vega (Bison in the English dub), the psychic master of the criminal syndicate Shadowloo (Shadowlaw), attempts to turn the world's top street fighters into his agents. The minimal plot exists only as a framework for the over-the-top martial arts battles. Director Gisaburo Sugii stages many of the fights at night in an effort to heighten the drama, but the results are so dark, it's difficult to see what's going on. Fans of the series complain--justifiably--that the English voices sound stiff and hokey, although the dialogue is hopelessly silly. The double-sided disc offers both the English and Japanese versions; the latter contains about two more minutes of violent fighting. (Rated PG-13, suitable for ages 17 and older: graphic violence, violence against women, nudity, alcohol use, profanity, ethnic stereotypes) --Charles Solomon

NOT SF MOVIE.......2007-06-22
Why does this (Soul Power), and SF II: The Animated Movie have the same reviews? They are two different things. All the reviews here are for the animated movie. SOUL POWER IS NOT THE MOVIE!!!! It is simply season 2 of the American animated Street Fighter series shown on the USA network in the 90's. C'mon, people.
Anyway, this series isn't nearly as good as any of the Japanese anime, even Street Fighter II: V. But hey, if you're an SF fan, and you want some change or even just to see what it's like, go ahead and pick this, up. But don't forget to pick up Season 1 first! It's called Code of Honor.
Street Fighter .......2007-05-12
I have been looking for the original Japanese version for years. Now I have both on the same disk. Its great!!!
Street Fighter II The Animated Movie.......2007-03-11
If you liked the Street Fighter games and you like Animation. This is the movie for you. This movie has great animation and a Awesome soundtrack!!! It's the classic final battle of good and evil!
The Best Video Game Movie Ever Made.......2007-02-14
Street Fighter II The Movie is hands down the best movie made that was based on a video game. Without compromising anything that was great about the fighting game they managed to create a feature length film that connects all of the games many characters. Its great to finally own this film without any of the censorship that occured in the previous releases. My only complaint is that its not anamorphic widescreen, really in this day and age is it really that hard to add this simple feature for widescreen TV's? Must I watch this film on my beautiful LCD HDTV as a small square in the middle of a big 40" screen? Lazy work on the part of Manga. Great film, decent DVD release that is ruined because it lacks one simple feature.
Non-stop action packed anime classic from the 90's!.......2006-08-17
An international terrorist organization that specialized in drug dealing and crimewaves called Shadowlaw is ran by the ruthless and powerful M. Bison has been searching for the best fighter of all time for years. Until now, he has found a wondering karate expert named Ryu who travels around the world and is the greatest fighter to ever unknownly grace the world and wants to capture him with the other champion fighters of the world so he can use them to conquer the world, it's up to U.S. Airforce fighter Guile, Chinese fighting beauty Chun-Li, Ryu and American martial arts expert Ken to join forces to battle against Shadowlaw and M. Bison.
Superbly animated and action packed Japanese animated action flick is based on the popular game from Capcom is definitely one of the best anime movies of the 90's next to "Ghost in The Shell", "Ninja Scroll", "Perfect Blue", "Princess Mononoke" and "Porco Russo". It's so much better than the abominable 1994 live-action movie which tainted the name of "Street Fighter" nearly, there's plenty of explosive action here and some nudity like the ever-so gorgeous Chinese chick Chun-Li in the shower showing off her knockers, this entertaining anime action romp is definitely one of the best animated action flicks ever.
This new DVD has good remastering on the picture and sound quality with widescreen presentation for the first time! there's two versions on both sides such as the extended English dubbed U.K. version with never-before scenes in America and has the KMFDM soundtrack and the original Japanese language extended version with never-before-seen footage in America, there's UK trailers, interactive player cards, trailers to other Manga releases and the DVD also contains an exclusive comic book.
Get this movie if you love Japanese animation! ranks up there with "Akira", "Ghost in The Shell", "Ninja Scroll", "Fist of the North Star", Hayao Miyzaki's flicks and "Vampire Hunter D".

Great Retake On An Anime Classic.......2006-10-11
On the heels of the success of Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie came Street Fighter II V! A series of 30 minute episodes recounting the adventures of a teenage Ken Masters and his friend from Japan Ryu.
While not directly connected to the popular animated film, it could've easily been a prelude to it as many of the things that happen during this series later happened in the film or were recounted in the film (by film I mean the animated movie, not that awful Van Damne live action flick from 1994)!
Anyway, back to the series, Ken and Ryu meet up for the first time in years when Ken invites Ryu to come to America to see him. From there, they embark on a worldwide journey to meet the best fighters and learn from them. Along the way, they learn what it means to be a true martial artist and that it doesn't always mean having the best punch or the fastest kick. I am not much on the moral stuff but some good life lessons are noted here. Nothing preachy but noted.
We also meet a very young but still pretty Chun Li and her childhood friend Fei Long (while I do like the character of Fei Long, no one is going to tell me he ISN'T copy of the late Bruce Lee, abeit a VERY GOOD copy). We also meet Sagat prior to his days of working for Bison and Shadowlaw as well as Dhalsim, Balrog, Vega, Zangief and Cammie. Guile also makes an appearance and we see why he hates Bison so much in this piece. We've heard the story of why he has it in for the Shadowlaw leader but this is the first time (that I know of) that it is actually shown. I won't give it away for those that haven't seen this version of the series but it is very telling.
As for the action, it is very good! Not quite the level of the animated movie but still very good! Overall, a very good buy!
Loved it!.......2006-10-09
I completely loved it. It's pretty much a fun dvd collection to watch. BTW, Wal-Mart is selling this for $20!
not bad.......2006-07-10
this is a good series, the only complaint i could say about it is it doesnt really feel like the street fighter i know from the games. its a great anime, great fighting, and exciting to watch, i just kinda expected something different after playing the games. also i got this at suncoast movies for 40 bucks, kind of over priced on here
Over-rated!!! .......2006-05-29
They made it way to drawn out and repetitive. I mean literally repetitive. They play the same clips over and over and over to the point that you wish you never started watching this collection. I estimate that there is 45 full minutes of Ryu charging his Hadoken. They didn't even bother doing different animations for this 45 minutes of repetition. I mean it's the SAME exact scene played over and over throughout the series in slo-mo. They also repeated the other scenes over and over making me so angry that I wanted to throw the frisbie dvd's out my window. The storyline is not great at all. They do not stick to the integrity of SF2. I don't know why so many people liked it (they are probably little kids who never played SF2 in the arcades. I would have given it 3 stars if they took out every repeated scene and the slo-motion which would have made it into a 4 hour movie instead of a 14.5 hour disaster. SF2 generations and SF2 alpha are SO much better. These movies are tailored for an older audience, and do not stray from the game storyline too much. If you are 13 and don't know much about the REAL SF2 story, and love DBZ I highly recomend this to you. For all the others, watch the two movies I mentioned above. My favorite is Alpha (the plot is kinda like the new star wars), but generations has some awesome fighting scenes (especially the first one).
Good enough for the casual fan........2006-01-31
Street Fighter 2 is one of my favorite games of all time. I have yet to see an anime that has done it justice. The Animated movie came the closest, this series is second, First of all, having Ryu and Ken (and Chun Li) as teens (completely ripped and skilled at that) was a bit of a put off, but I got over that quick enough. The main problem is that they exhaust most of their good ideas early on and it starts to become a redundant mess towards the end. Guile and Charlie endless running up and down those stairs. Chun Li getting choked and Bison grinning and laughing for like, 3 whole episodes. Ryu needs a whole DVD to charge his fireball. Sagat is a good guy. Cammy's scene takes too long. Etc, etc. They get bogged down and things get stretched out DBZ style for far too long and too many characters get neglected. Ryu, Ken and then later Guile and Fei Long get the best fight scenes. Chun Li only gets one and she's not even in her right mind when it happens. The other characters are only touched upon, and a few, like E. Honda and Blanka are absent. You can tell money was getting tight towards the end, because there is a whole lot of standing around, repeated scenes and recaps. Probably only deserves a 2, but it is Street Fighter after all.
Average customer rating:
- Not teeken but decent
- Awful, awful, AWFUL
- Extremely disappointed
- Waste of money
- This movie really does suck!

The OVA Alpha Generations serves as a prequel to the popular Street Fighter continuity that includes two movies, a TV series, and another OVA. (There's also a live-action Street Fighter based on the same video game.) Ryu returns to the mountains where he lived as a child to visit the grave of his original martial arts master: Gouken was killed by Gouki, a renegade student who embraced the "dark Hadou." Much of the back story is related by an old monk who helps Ryu in his training and explains the ancient origins of the evil Hadou that turned Gouki into a demon. The monk's wisdom and the gentle presence of his granddaughter prepare Ryu for his inevitable battle with Gouki. The minimal plot unfolds in disjointed fragments, but fans of the Street Fighter series aren't looking for compelling narratives: As four members of Japanese cast say in the special feature, "watch the fighting scenes." (Unrated, suitable for ages 15 and older: violence, grotesque imagery, brief nudity, alcohol and tobacco use) --Charles Solomon

Not teeken but decent.......2007-03-29
This is about the fourth street fighte movie that been made since the original game was released 20 years ago back in mid 1980s. A word of warning due to mild violence frequent super graphic and gory distubring images, in addition to occasional nudity, and drug use this movie might not be appropriate or may be questionable to kids unde the age of 14 depending on what there parent's or guardians think is appropriate for there age. This is a really short movie about 3/4 the runing time of the Tekken movie. There are some okay fighting scenes in it but there brief. Ryu in this prequel to Street Fighter Alp ryu travels back for the anniversary of the murder of his master who was killed my Gokui a student with demonic energy which also flows inside of RYU and Ken who you rarerly see in this movie. If you like this I also recommend you see street fighter Alpa and street fighter II which are also animated. There is also a live action street fighter movie which came out around the time the movie for super Mario Brothers movie was released however some of the characters like Dalsin are excluded from the movie and most of the characters except for Bison and Blanka do not have there supernatural powers or abilites at any time during the whole movie from begining to the end including the credits. Will ryu avenge his deas master
Awful, awful, AWFUL.......2006-10-25
I waited five years for this piece of junk? THe sotry was nonsensical/non existent, and the animation horrid. Also, what was up with the character designs in this film?
I keep forgetting Ken was in this; he doesn't DO anything except react and make comments I'm sure are pithy in Japan.
There was so little fighting in an anime based off a fighting game. There's just NO excuse. I actually started hitting FWRD on my DVD player to see if anything actually happened!
Tekken the Movie was better than this, and read my review of THAT to see what I mean. Only Amazon's rating system prevents me from giving this NEGATIVE stars.
Extremely disappointed.......2006-09-25
Wow, was I disappointed in this movie. I really really wanted to like it, as I am a hardcore Street Fighter fan. This movie had so much potential that it never reaches... I almost feel like the creators made this movie strictly with the thought that it would do well just because of the SF name, and didn't care about the quality.
The artwork and animation is very substandard for an anime, and can't even come close to comparing to SF Alpha the movie. In fact, when I first saw Ryu, I wasn't even sure if it was Ryu that I was looking at. I quickly picked up that it was him based on his actions, but I should be able to tell who Ryu is right away, considering how much I love SF plus he is my favorite character. I don't understand why the animators changed the character design from SF Alpha the movie, especially considering that this is SF ALPHA Generations. SF Alpha the movie had very good character art, and the characters looked nearly identical to their video game counterparts. Akuma* looked much more menacing in Street Fighter Alpha the movie.
Another weakness in this anime is that it revolves nearly exclusively around Ryu and Akuma. The only other Alpha characters that are in this are Sakura and Ken. And even though Ken is a very important character in the SF universe, he has a smaller role than Sakura does... in fact, his role is so small, it might as well just be a glorified cameo appearance.
Not to give away any details, but Ryu is encountered by a mysterious old man who challenges Ryu to a fight. Ryu is defeated rather easily... and only one question comes to mind at this point, "If Ryu can't even defeat this old man, then how in the world is he supposed to take on Akuma, the most powerful character in the SF universe?" Well, Ryu supposedly trains at this old man's house, we get about 1 minute's worth of him training... and I suppose that is supposed to be enough to imply that he got stronger than the old man and can now take on Akuma.
If all else weren't bad enough, the fight between Ryu and Akuma seems mindless. They just seem to blindly throw ki attacks at each other to see who can topple who. There doesn't seem to be any real rationality in why they are doing what they are doing. Did the animators think this would make them appear to be super powerful? If they did, then they failed miserabely. Because at no point in this movie, did either Ryu or Akuma do anything to make me believe they are the two most powerful SF characters, which they are supposed to be.
The voice dubbing is pretty bad... it's not as bad as SF 2 the Animated Movie's was, but it isn't nearly as good as SF Alpha the movie's was. By the way, this anime seems very rush as it is only about 45 minutes long.
All I can say is that this movie and story had so much potential. I almost don't even want to consider it a SF movie... oh by the way, for those of you who have seen SF Alpha the movie, but not this, I want to say that this movie is NOT a continuation of that movie. I bring this up because in SF Alpha the movie, we are left with a seen of Ryu and Akuma meeting face to face, and then they are about to engage in combat before the movie end... this is not where Generations picks up... I wish it were, because anything would be better than this.
So in short: Low quality art/animation, only four Alpha characters, mindless fighting, and bad voice dubbing... and the topper for me, I couldn't even tell you who won the fight between Ryu and Akuma if I wanted to... you'll have to see the movie for yourself to know what I mean about that.
Hopefully the next time a SF anime is made, the creators will actually put in some type of effort to make it a worthwhile purchase.
*In Generations Akuma is called by his Japanese name, "Gouki". I have no idea why the English dubbers kept his Japanese name, instead of changing it to Akuma... you'd think they would since in SF Alpha they called him Akuma. Probably just another piece of evidence that they put absolutely zero thought into this movie.
Waste of money.......2006-04-24
Since Im' a fan of street fighter, i bought this dvd when i first saw it at a store. It's a waste of money. At least if they had thrown in a poster it would have had some value. You see Ryu and Akuma on the cover and you think" these guys are going to fight!!Finally." That's what i thought, after of course watching the first Alpha movie and them not fighting each other. But this movie was a complete gimmick to rake in some quick dollars at the expense of all the fans who were expecting so much more. The animation itself is pretty bad. The fight scenes are pathetic for this day and age. There is nothing memeroble about this movie. The only thing I can clearly remember is the scene when Sakura and the other girl are in the bath togather, and even then you don't see much. The other thing is Akuma looks terrible. They should draw him the way he looks in Capcom vs Snk 2. And what's even more annoying is they call him by his lesser known name "Gouki" throughout the whole movie. Anyone who is a fan of the franchise will have to see it to believe it, just don't expect much and whatever you do, don't buy it.
This movie really does suck!.......2006-04-15
The movie has a great story. Unlike Streetfighter Alpha the Movie, Alpha Generations actually follows the correct storyline. It had the potential to be a great movie, but there is to much wrong with it that cannot be overlooked that will irritate you immediately. The character design sucks(Why dosen't Ryu look like Ryu?), the English voice acting sucks(I recommend watching it in japanese with subtitles) and the fights suck. The only fight worth watching during the whole movie is Ryu vs. Sakura. This film dosen't even deserve a 1 star rating. I just gave it that because there's no way to go lower.

Customer Reviews:
Awesome compilation, great opportunity.......2006-09-18
The street fighter is a martial arts classic, as well of the two sequels included here. In one disc, you can choose all three movies plus some extras, the quality is very acceptable for these widescreen english dubbed versions, no greater defects on picture and sound quality and of course the greatest opportunity to kill three birds in one shot.
The street fighter greatest achievement is showing the damage inflicted by terry's fists, the cruelty of his fighting techniques upon the opponents bodies. The story is not the best you had seen, mediocre i say, but terry made legend in martial arts world. You wanna know why? just watch him in action.
Highly recomended for fans and curious first timers.

awesome........2007-01-27
feels short.. I wish it was longer.. it looks great... I don't know maybe it was me.. something different. comparet to the original street fighter.. I would be it again if I had to . I love street fighter back since 92'
greateast artwork, a straight mix of digital and hand effort.!.......2006-05-05
in all my DECADES been a streetfighter fan, and phylosophy follower, is the best anime explaining the warrior insights! PD: only for true warriors....
Well, at least Zangief was in it........2006-03-04
This film I thought was alright. I did get to see Zangief fight some little kid which was hilarious and the animation is fairly good in my opinion. But other then that this film dissapointed me a little for these reasons: The lack of characters and the characters that did show up had very short scenes other then Ryu, Ken, and Chun Li which I guess why there were not much cameos they concentrated on the most popular characters in the whole Street Fighter series, I never heard of the main villain, confusing story that never showed up in the Alpha games, sentimental story line, and most importantly of all not enough fighting and the fight scenes that did show up were really short. Oh yeah another reason is Akuma's crappy cameo and how can they kill off one of the characters in the game even if he is not that popular unless that was apart of his orginal story line in the first Street Fighter game and thats why he did not show up in any of the other sequels of Street Fighter. But at least I got to see Zangief beat up a little kid. Stick to the games any other media of Street Fighter dissapoints if your a big fan of the games. Nothing I hate more then changing the orginal storys of characters.
Entertaining Street Fighter anime.......2005-12-27
I won't bore you with a story summary, or a plot analysis (you can find that in the 'Product Description'). Anyone looking into this anime is interested in only one thing: the action. Street Fighter Alpha pits characters from the game into plenty of jaw-dropping, smoothly animated fight scenes. Anyone familiar with the video games will see some of their favorite characters pull off their signature moves. The visuals are really impressive and the action amazes. If you're aiming for an anime action fix, this will probably do it...especially for Street Fighter fans.
The only thing about this movie that may disappoint a Street Fighter fan (besides lack of character development) is the absence of certain star characters of the game, such as M. Bison and Guile.
For the SF fans who are curious about who actually made the cut:
- Ryu and Ken obviously play a big part.
- Chun Li also plays a big role in the movie.
- Akuma (Gouki) makes a brief appearance in the beginning and closing credits.
- Zangief makes a single appearance, and battles Blanka and Ryu in a short but interesting fight.
- Sakura doesn't participate in any fighting, but acts as an annoying side character instead.
- Rose appears as a mystical sage, and doesn't fight in the movie either.
- Dan, Adon, Sodom, and Birdie also make brief fighting appearances as well.
- Most of the battles include Ryu's little brother, Shin. The final battles include characters i've never seen from the games before, but I'm not particularly a big fan either (only played the earlier versions back in the day). They may have been in the newer games.
So, if you're solely looking for an action anime, which happens to be devoid of any plot or character development, then you should enjoy this. Hope this review helps.
It's an alrite movie.......2005-12-05
this movie doesn't lead up to street fighter 2 - alpha should, as it is the inbetween storyline of street fighter 1 and 2 - that is a point i've wanted to make to those who don't know that alpha isn't supposed to be a storyline after sf2.
This movie is alrite, it's drawn and animated quite well. the story of this movie is a little weak tho, Ryu's little brother finally finds him, and wants him to join a fighting tournament - but Ryu does not wish to. a group of henchmen who work for an scientist capture his little brother forcing him to fight. the scientist whishes to posses the powers of teh dark hadou with Ryu.(hadouken, the tradmark move of street fighter).
now one main thing here is that Akuma is and isn't incorporated wit teh movie. he does posses a part of Ryu time to time, but he isn't really a threat in the movie. that is very disappointing as Akuma is the main villain of SF Alpha.

This crappy cheesy USA Street Fighter YUCK!.......2006-06-08
The japanese DID NOT make this series the Americans did. They just messed it all up the animation is too childish the characters look different. Their is no blood, profanity, or nudity. The action is not even hardcore. I really hate the fact that Guile is the main character instead of Ryu. I am ashamed of this so greatest in the world. Why would advfilms would want to waste their time owning the rights to this junk I thought they only stick to anime and trust me this is not anime.
A Disgrace to a Great Game and Animated Moive.......2004-04-13
I thought the animation was terrible. This was nothing like the animation done for the other Street Fighter movies. They were too "kiddie like." The story lines were horrible also. If you liked the other animated Street Fighter movies, then you will hate THIS collection. It was not what i expected at all!!! Invest in the street fighter 2 V collection, that is worth the money! Much better animation nd closer to what you would expect after watching the Movies. 2 THUMBS DOWN for both Soul Powers AND Code of Honor!!!
Street Fighter, or Gi-Joe?.......2004-03-09
I'm a street fighter fanatic! I've loved the concept since the original Street Fighter Arcade Game (the impossible to play one with the large buttons you had to smash, and the impossible to pull off special moves, Street Fighter II was a piece of cake in comparison).
I bought this because I was hoping to get a more complete collection, and I'm not entirely dissapointed...
Though it is quite true to the video game, it's very much the same style as the 1980's Gi-Joe... which means that if you're used to anime (like the Otaku I am) you might be a little dissapointed.
USA Networks Version.......2003-04-22
Okay so many of you probably have never seen this series. The quality of the DVD is great. But of course, this is the series that was on USA Networks on cable. Do not get this series mixed up with the Japanese version of Street Fighter.
There are major differences. The first one is storyline is based on the horrid Van Damn movie of Street Fighter. Which means that the Street Fighters are police under cover to save the universe. Second difference is Guile is the main character not Ryu!
I would consider this for my collection regardless. ADV Films bought the rights to this movie attempting to capture the Robotech, Transformers generation. They did a great job of marketing it to them. I ended up buying this DVD. It's not the best anime nor is it even Japanese, but I had to get it since I watched it growing up as a kid.
15 episodes for $...? I figured its cheap enough to watch.

Customer Reviews:
Forgot i had this movie..........2007-03-09
I wouldn't recommend paying 12+ dollars for it like i did(stupid major electronic store)..but getting it on here for less than $5 is worth it.There are plenty of ninja in it(if i remember correctly) and sonny chiba is cool as always...go ahead and buy it if you like real Japanese flicks.
Street Fighter is Chiba-tastic!!!.......2006-08-31
Critiquing the plot of this movie is pointless, likewise the acting, writing, cinematography etc. It's just one great fight scene after another. All the extraneous elements, such as the aforementioned few, are boiled away, leaving the distilled, pure essence of martial arts movies. But a little known fact is that Chiba studied directly under MAS OYAMA, creator of kyokushinkai karate. This is one nasty art. It cultivates the spirit but also emphasizes raw destructive power. The teacher character in the movie is an homage to Oyama, a genuine Master in the world of martial arts. So, at least one of the characters is based on a real person. Pretty cool!
"Street Fighter" Double Feature DVD Review.......2005-07-11
Arguably one of the best and most violent martial arts films of its time, 'The Street Fighter" starring Sonny Chiba was the first film to be given a "X" rating because of its violent content. In a time when the majority of martial arts films were pretty much the same, "Street Fighter" featured some of the most violent images ever showcased in martial arts cinema. The movie stars Chiba as a ruthless assassin who as described by Christian Slater in True Romance, "pretty much gets paid to f--k guys up". This double-feature DVD not only includes the original uncut Sonny Chiba classic in its original widescreen format but also includes its first sequel. While it is light on special features, this is one of the best versions of either movie you can find on DVD. Not for the weak of heart.
A Poor Excuse For A DVD.......2005-03-02
Don't get me wrong. I LOVE the story. I've seen it in the cinema in the 80's and I still love it. But the issue why I gave low ratings is because of the DVD. This is the first time I've seen a DVD where the makers of it, puts watermark images of the company in various scene in the movie. Talk about advertising!
Second, on the cover, it was written that the movie has undergone digital transfer. The only thing that I think, where the movie got it "digital transfer" is from a poor quality VHS tape to DVD. This is absurd! Even the soundtracks bear the quality of a bad tape recording.
I've watch other Sonny Chiba's movies from the 80's in DVD format like Ninja Wars and GI Samurai aka Time Slip and both quality is what a DVD should be. This one is clearly an attempt to make a quick money at the fans of the man.
The first 2 reviews, refers to other movies and not the one in question. To Amazon, please remove this item from your listing.
Shogun's shame.......2004-02-13
Why was this movie so terrible? It started at first glance; the title. A Shogun is Japanese, whereas a Ninja is Chinese. A Shogun would never associate with a ninja, as ninja are without honor. A Shogun would only associate with Samurai.
Now we can get past this glaring error to the cheesy schlock that was the rest of this movie. From the soundtrack reminiscent of lower quality 70's porno flicks, to the unentertaining, poorly choreographed battles, poor acting, etc... do not waste precious minutes of your life watching this movie. After watching this movie I am honor-bound to commit Seppuku. Goodbye, cruel world.
