Description

Justin Theroux is Daniel Beckett, the black sheep son of a wealthy New York art dealer. He and his girlfriend, Suzanne (Alyssa Milano), are meeting his family for Thanksgiving at their sprawling country estate. This movie was one of the best Alyssa Milano movies ever! It was brilliant. The acting was brilliant which I would expect from Alyssa but I was glad to see that the other actors didnt let her down. If you havnt bought this movie yet I strongly advise you do. And as the other reviews have said the twists that occur the whole way through will suprise you even the second or third time you watch it!

NICE LITTLE ACTION FILM WITH A CLEVER ENDING.......2003-09-08

DANIEL [JUSTIN THEROUX], WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND [ALYSSA MILANO] VISITS HIS FAMILY FOR THANKSGIVING. BUT DURING DINNER, A VICIOUS GANG OF THIEVES [LED BY ICE-T] BREAK INTO THE HOUSE, KILL OFF DANIEL'S FAMILY, AND STEALS HIS FAMILY'S ART. BEING THAT DANIEL AND HIS GIRLFRIEND ARE TRAPPED IN THE BASEMENT, THEY MUST FIND A WAY TO ELIMINATE THE KILLERS. NOTHING SPECIAL, BUT IT'S AN OK LITTLE ACTIONER. Body Count Is A Great Suspence and Action Film........2002-02-10

I rented this movie and I thought it was one of the best movies that I had ever seen. It's a great action film with an all-star cast that keeps wondering what's going to happen next. It is definitely one that I have to add to my movie collection.

The Good
Prior to this release, Body Count released a DVD of their performance from the Smoke Out Festival which I was also able to view. The first thing I noticed is that this performance was shot better with multi-cameras, and the quality of the film was better. On top of that, the sound quality is far superior. Live in L.A. has Body Count firing through 17 of their most wanted songs. "Killin' Floor" is where the music starts to take off. Other hits include the powerful "Bowels of the Devil," the blood-thirsty "Drive By," and the always controversial "Cop Killer" (does anyone else find it strange Ice T plays a cop on television).

There's no denying that the crowd is into each and every song as they battle it out in the pit and sing along. Body Count always had a knack for driving guitar riffs, frantic drum beats, and songs that your average metal act weren't singing about; "KKK Bitch," "Surviving the Game," and "Mama's Got 2 Die 2 Nite" are a few that come to mind. Half-way through the show, Ice T introduces a new Body Count track entitled "Murder 4 Hire," which was written by the late D-Roc. At the conclusion of the concert, you can watch interviews with Ice T and other members of Body Count. If you don't have time to watch the DVD, you can take the bonus CD with you in the car.

The Bad
The worst part of this DVD is that it's comprised of one continuous chapter, as opposed to multiple chapters like most DVDs. In other words, you have to watch the show from beginning to end, with no skipping ahead. You have to wait until the entire concert is finished to watch the bonus interviews, because there is only one option on the main menu; "play show." Also, the beginning of the set is rather boring. The first three songs are basically comprised of six words; "Body Count's in the mutherf***in' house!"

The Verdict
For me, Body Count has always been one of those bands I just couldn't get into. Over the past few months they've been in my face, so I've had no choice but to notice. I have to say that I think that Ice T is a better rapper then a metal frontman. He is far more prolific lyrically on his solo albums than he is with Body Count. That's okay, because to truly appreciate the group you have to be into the music. Body Count's rhythm section is truly what the band is about. First of let me say my review may be bias conserding i have the entire BC catalog and paid 100 bucks for the first self titled relase with cop killer on it so be warned. This is probley one of the best live dvds out there the picture is perfect and one of the funniest menus i have ever saw on a dvd influced no doubt by copkiller the best thing about this dvd is that it shows that BC might have a small fallowing but cause some of the most violent shows ever you cant call yourself a real punk are metal head without liking these guys they were never invited on ozzfest and for go reason they cause a riot and no more show lol also The interview with ice t is a must for any bc fan he gets indepth about why he made bc the struggles he endured after cop killer was released and how since then is still effecting his life theres a reason slayer joined up with ice tea to record a track because not only beening able to rap he can howl like a mofo if for nothing else get it for the mosh pit cam angle they have it shouldnt be missed.

This film features a cavalcade of direct-to-video stars...most of whom get killed.

The plot consists of Sonny Chiba, playing Japanese hitman Makato, killing off two Italian child pornographers and then getting arrest by the special police team. Turns out someone on that team paid him to kill the two criminals, and escaping from prison (rather too easily for a supposedly famous international criminal) he seeks revenge. Armed with a gun, a sword, and his inability to pronounce any word in the English dictionary, Sonny Chiba is one ticked off hitman.

The problem is that you really don't care about too many of the policemen he kills. Except for the two main characters, most of the others have no real redeeming values. One guy abuses his contact, points a gun at her, and then you're supposed to feel bad that he's killed off.

The other problem is the police characters are completely incompetant. They know that Makato is after them, but make no effort to protect each other or themselves. Part of this may be that the police department has only ten people in it - and I gather this from a few things. One, when a characters goes in to bust a criminal he goes in alone. (what? You don't wanna call for back-up or anything?) Then when he's killed by Makato and two more police go in to investigate, they go alone too. And, as I said already, there's no 24 hour guard to protect the members of the team, no FBI involvement, no witness protection, nothing. The only time you see other policeman is in the middle, and they are dressed as mall security guards so they were probably borrowed rent-a-cops. There's also no city-wide effort to hunt down Makato. Are the police just lazy, or do they WANT to die?

Bad. Bad acting. Bad writing, too. I loved the scene where the characters attend a funeral of one of their friends, and the female officer says, "I wonder which of you guys is next." WHAT THE HELL?! Great timing, idiot! Bad filmmaking too. Music is composed of three instruments: a saxophone, a piano, (which made me feel like Buster Keaton was gonna pop out of no where) and someone banging against a door. I loved the scene where Sonny Chiba is trying to get away from the hero, so he picks the fastest vehicle available: a trolley. Did I mention bad writing?

Oh yeah, don't get too excited about Brigitte Nielson on the front cover. She's in probably eight minutes of film time. There's no real point to her character at all.

I have loved ice-t's music since he first album and when he crossed over to hard rock/metal, I was blown away. This dvd is raw and pretty at the same time, showcasing a lot of their hit songs, including kkk bitch and cop killer. If you are a fan or just love hard music, this is a must.

Body Count in my HOUSE!.......2005-10-15

Oh yeah! Man, I own quite a few concert DVDs and why I certainly am choosey as to what I expect a concert DVD to be, this one exceeds my expectations. First off, the concert is only about 35 minutes, but Ice-T and BC are tight, kick-ass set and deliver a knockout 10 song set of material from their first 2 albums (the self titled debut and the follow up Born Dead). Now I am a bit dismayed to not see any material from their last, Violent Demise CD in the set, but in 30 minutes, most of their well know material is from the first 2 albums so it's no big deal. Actually I was not a fan of Born Dead when it was first released, but know hearing the songs in a living setting, they actually kick ass. In summary, Body Count blaze through 10 songs, and dispite the commentary above that the band was battling sound problems and rain, it does not affect their performance at all. The Sound, the Video and the Band are all A++ material, definitely worth the $10.00 amazon.com is selling for. You wont be disappointed.

Worthless.......2002-06-13

Take a look at that web site dedicated to law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty to experience the true 'body count' behind this dispicable picture. The film makers want you to sleep easy knowing that the families of these murderers got their 'cut'. If you want to find out just how low American cinema can go then grab a shovel and dig up this video. Take a friend though, you'll need to work in shifts.

Old fashioned suspense.......2001-05-21

Throwing 5 unlikely, and seemingly incompatible actors together to make such a serious and somewhat suspenseful could be called miraculous, I call it good directing. This movie gives you a chance to grow attached to the characters, no matter how greedy they might be. And the ending, surpisingly, caught me off guard.

A violent and cruel movie.......1999-12-03

Body Count, David Caruso's last film, is a surprisingly entertaining, violent thriller, about a bank assault that goes very wrong, throwing the members of the crew into a rollercoaster ride. Although this story has been told million of times by Hollywood, like in Burt Reynolds' upcoming Pups, Body Count has some particular qualities that make it original, hot and intense. The cast is great, actors like Ving Rhames, Joe Leguizamo and even Donnie Wahlberg deliver their jobs with mastery and talent. Rhames, who was excellent in Don King, is charming and brilliant as the most controlled member of the crew, and even in a small part, his presence is powerful. Leguizamo has in the film the chance to prove that he is in fact an actor with great dramatic potential, is too bad to see him in bad comedies, wasting his capacity. Caruso is a regular actor, he is still waiting for his breakthrough role, and in this movie he can show that he is excellent when he has something good in his hands. Body Count is a violent and terrific movie, if you want to buy it, do it, this film follows the same tradition of memorable cop-dramas, such as Sharky's Machine, The French Connection and many others!

A fresh, realistic crime thriller!.......1999-12-02

Have you ever seen a cast that fit there roles better than this... David Caruso plays one-hell-of -a tough guy, (and is truely convincing) Ving Rhames as the crim with a heart of... Bronze, John Leguizamo as a homicidal maniac who could kiss you one second and blow your head off the next, Linda Fiorentino as the not so trustworthy hitchhiker, Forest Whitaker as the man with the plan and Donnie Whalberg as the token Weakling. Don't expect lots of action, but do expect great acting and some nice, honest crime noir twists. Then you won't be disapointed.
