Description
Hate and revenge go together like hand in glove.
In THE GLOVE, a down-on-his luck bounty hunter (John Saxon of BLACK CHRISTMAS) buys a one way ticket to Hell when he tries to capture a vengeful ex-con (Rosey Grier) out to punish an order of corrupt prison guards with the torture device they used on him: a riot glove made of 5 lbs. of lead and steel.
Co-starring Joanna Cassidy (BLADE RUNNER) and a cast of veteran Hollywood actors, including Keenan Wynn (PIRANHA), Joan Blondell (NIGHTMARE ALLEY) and Aldo Ray).
In SEARCH AND DESTROY, ex-GIs Perry King (CLASS OF 1984) and Don Stroud (PERDITA DURANGO) fight for their lives as members of their elite combat unit are picked off one by one by the embittered soldier they left behind enemy lines.
George Kennedy (AIRPORT) and Tisa Farrow (ZOMBIE) are also featured in this edgy action thriller from director William Fruet (DEATH WEEKEND).

More than half of the members of the Royal Order of Religious Knights were massacred in episode 6; Sir Integra Hellsinger, Arucard, and Seras must now hunt down the perpetrators. The suspects include the Vatican's Iscariot Organization and whoever is making the "artificial vampirization catalyst semiconductor" or "freak chips" that turn humans into second-class ghouls. Some of the dialogue in this jejune gorefest is inadvertently hilarious. Seras asks another vampire, "How long have you been undead?" and a British Army officer says of suspected IRA members, "Even if they are no longer human, that doesn't mean their guilt as terrorists can be erased." Sir Integra is attacked by a vampire in episode 9 and stabs herself in the throat, rather than be enslaved by her own now-tainted blood. (Rated 16 and older, but unsuitable for viewers under 18: graphic violence, profanity, gore, violence against women, sexual situations) --Charles Solomon

The Battle Has Come to Their Doorstep.......2005-06-07
After the massacre of half of the Hellsing organization's soldiers things only begin to get worse as things begin to fall apart Alucard and Seris are forced to hunt down the culprit and find out something that they never expected and could this be the end for Integra?
The manga was better, but..........2004-11-27
This is the point where the anime goes in a completly different direction from the manga. It's not entirely bad [...] Also, we finally get indisputalbe proof that Integra is, in fact, female. However, if you have a problem with genderless [...] vampires who really,[...] then from here on out, this show is not for you.
Bodies, Bodies, Everywhere..........2004-01-22
Welcome to the Hellsing Organization; an army dedicated to keep the country safe from the undead. The group fights against vampires and ghouls of all sorts in the dark of night. Their ultimate weapon is a hunter that is a vampire himself, Alucard; an unstoppable figure that can face just about any sort of evil that the darkness has to offer him. Vampires and ghouls are not safe with this elite team of hunters and soldiers lurking about.
So continues this dark and bloody adventure with "Hellsing: Search and Destroy;" the third volume in the series. The Hellsing Organization has suffered numerous losses due to the last attack on them that was conducted by the Valentine Brothers. Alucard must do battle once again with the notorious Paladin Alexander; a deadly preacher that's quite talented with sharp blades. Not only that, but he later encounters a deadly foe that could be more powerful than he--an original undead, Incognito. In the last episode contained within this volume, things take a drastic turn for the worst when Sir Integra's life is in jeopardy.
This third volume is not nearly as exciting as the past two, but this is necessary for a future build-up in the last remaining episodes to come. It's still very entertaining to watch, nonetheless. We learn more about Seras' coming-to-terms with what she really is and find out that her strength is increasing, even though she still has doubts. It's also amazing to see how strong and fierce Alucard really is. One of the best parts of this volume is that it brings back the dreaded preacher, Paladin Alexander. He's become a favorite foe of mine. While this volume may not be as impressive as the past two, it is still a very important one to the series.
Again, in no way should this series be viewed by young children. This anime series is intended for mature audiences, such as adults. These three episodes contain graphic violence, blood and gore, strong language, adult situations, and dark and disturbing themes and imagery. Extras include concept art, a different creditless ending and more. The three episodes together total around 75 minutes.
Like I said, "Hellsing: Search and Destroy" isn't the strongest chapter to the "Hellsing" series, but that doesn't make it any less entertaining or important. This dark and ghoul-infested journey has taken you through nine episodes in total. The end of this journey is near, but never fret--you can never tell what's going to end up coming your way next.
Anime at it's best.......2003-06-09
You take a super vampire and anime hellsing. The best anime movies i've seen You must buy the collection of hellsing. From one to four, it just keeps geting better, non-stop action from begin to the end.
Want Bloody Good Vampire Anime? You've Got It!.......2003-05-15
The Japanese seem to find the western version of the Vampire myth quite appealing, and the expression of that fascination reaching a peak with the anime series Hellsing.
Set in modern-day Great Britain, the series focuses on the efforts of the Hellsing Organization, a powerful private enterprise helping to defend "God, Queen, and Country" from the ravages of vampires. Run by the descendents of the van Helsing family of Dracula fame, the organization employs the enigmatic vampire Alucard in their hunt against creatures of the night.
Alucard by far makes the series as one of the most hard-boiled ...anime heroes to date with just enough hint of a savage, barely-kept dark side to make him interesting. He dispatches the armies of the night with a huge .454 Casull gun filled with explosive, blessed silver bullets in style and with panache.
The third volume of the series resumes with a bang with Alucard's resumption of his earlier duel with the Vatican's Paladin Alexander Andersong as the Iscariot Organization attempts to cut off both their own vampire problem and deal with Hellsing at the same time. The battle will leave fans demanding a sequel as Andersong escapes yet again.
The subsequent two episodes further the plot of the series, revealing more details about the freak chips and introducing a new evil foe surely to be a decent match for Alucard in episodes to come.
The animation itself is done really well in terms of visual quality, with a blend of CG and hand-drawn cel work; however, it is somewhat more static in nature than much contemporary anime, comparable to that done for the Record of Lodoss War series.
The audio, though presented only in stereo sound, features a soundtrack you'll want to hunt down like a freak after fresh blood. Surprisingly, the english dubbing is quite good, featuring British-accented voice actors far superior to the average anime dub.
Hellsing is an excellent addition to any anime fan's library and a must-watch for vampire lovers everywhere.

Customer Reviews:
If you Weren't a Total Retard, you'd realise this is a bootleg DVD.......2007-04-28
The only known copy of this DVD is bootleg. Hence, no special features, no 5.1 surround sound, no widescreen, no anything. I know, I know, TVA films is a Quebecor Media property, but, trust me, I don't think they are legit. Since the film was not released by this company, I doubt this was a studio exec plot to get mad dollars on the Special Edition. I hate to tell you this: THIS IS THE BEST DVD VERSION YOU WILL GET FOR A LONG TIME. It's the same with David Lynch's Lost Highway. It's better than nothing, since I found it for 3 dollars at Harris Tetter after hunting for it for 7 years after seeing it on Bravo on IFC Fridays. This movie is absolutely great, with a great story, a great cast, and that is all that matters when you can't get the real copy of a movie.
great film, -- inexcusably horrible DVD.......2006-05-30
This film deserves four, maybe even five stars. I love films about "making it" in the entertainment industry, and this is a hilarious comedy about trying to raise money for an indie film. A steller cast, from Dennis Hopper, to Christopher Walker, to Illeana Douglass, to John Turturro, to star Giffin Dunne. And fine cameos by Martin Scorsese, Rosanna Arquette, and Ethan Hawke.
SEARCH AND DESTORY is to film financing what LIVING IN OBLIVION is to film production. I love this indie film and have seen it many times. But why did they release this CRAPPY DVD VERSION?
* It's FULL SCREEN. Indie film fans are especially particular about seeing the whole film, which means wide screen.
* There are NO SPECIAL FEATURES. Not even a trailer. With all these stars, surely there could have been an interview or something. Not only that, there's ...
* NO MENU. Nothing. No chapter sections. Nothing. You pop in the DVD, then go straight to the full screen film, then that's it.
Why release a great film like this in such a crappy DVD package? Perhaps because the studio wants to DOUBLE DIP. You know what I mean. They release a crappy DVD first, then when everyone who "must have" this film has bought one, they release a Special Two Disc Edition. An indie film like this, with so many indie stars, is a natural for this treatment.
So this is yet another example of how studios RIP OFF DVD customers. Other examples include...
* Crappy fall-apart DVDs that scratch easily, thus limiting the number of used DVDs on the market (studios earn nothing on used DVDs).
* DVDs which FORCE YOU you to sit through long FBI Warnings and endless trailers, thus STEALING YOUR TIME.
This SEARCH AND DESTORY DVD isn't guilty of those two offenses; instead it's guilty of dumping a BARE-BONES, FULL SCREEN version, so as to DOUBLE DIP with a decent, wide screen, two-disc version later on.
Great film. Horrid DVD.
Overbite Central!.......2003-02-20
Arquette, Douglas and Turturro cast together make this movie Overbite Central! Dunne reprises his King of Comedy role, Walken his Deer Stalker, you know, that STARE just before he shoots himself that has made his career. Scorcese plays a good brief part, really the best acting of the film, which is otherwise second rate fare. (4/7)
Looking for an off-beat comedy with a great cast?.......2002-06-04
(For the record, this is a review of the region 4 DVD)
I picked this up in a bargain bin around 6 months ago, not quite knowing what to expect. Easily the best value for money DVD I have ever bought. Why? Becuase I've watched this film countless times and never seem to get tired of it. Without going into too much detail re: the plot of the film, it is essentially the story of a failed businessman (Martin Mirkheim, played by Griffin Dunne) who, inspired by the writings of a late-night tv self-help guru, Dr. Waxling (played by Dennis Hopper), decides to try his hand at making movies. This film boasts a very strong cast. Dennis Hopper, Christopher Walken and John Turturro are particularly good. Griffin Dunne is generally quite good in this film, but does tend to overact in a number of scenes. There is a lot of very dry humor and sarcasm throughout this movie, which is the main reason I like it so much. Admittedly, the plot is a little disjointed at times, but it all seems to hang together very well in my eyes. Search and Destroy will definitely not be to everyone's liking. However, if you like subtlety in your humour, this is definitely the film for you.
Highlights the importance of good script and direction.......2001-06-09
This should have been a film I loved. Dennis Hopper, Griffin Dunne, and Christopher Walken are all cast in roles perfect for them, set premise is a nice one--failed dreamer gets caught up in self-help nonsense and gets into deeper and deeper trouble, eventually ending up in serious danger--but the film starts out wobbly focus- and drive-wise and falls apart completely when it should be building steam.
Its roots as a stage play are very evident in almost every scene, but I hope the play was a little more coherent. Otherwise, I can't comprehend why anyone would option, let alone produce it, as a movie.
The sad part is... every actor in the film gives a GREAT performance. As far as that goes, the film is fabulous, so kudos to the director. Unfortnately, the framework within they are giving their performances just isn't enough to support them. Shame on the writer.

Search & Destroy.......2001-04-28
Despite other bad reviews about this filmm, I consider it to be a difficult plot at the start with a bit of poor sound quality, but after a few minutes the sound is great in digital & after twenty minutes the plot certainly livens up to a full blown, believable action film, you really have to put yourself in the actors positions to make this film fantastic, note: my copy was sent to 'england' where it was opened, unwrapped & maybe watched by the customs authorities who then forwarded it on with inspected stickers all over the case. buy it, it could be you.
search and destroy.......2000-03-26
Im a bad action movie fan but this is bad and i mean really bad. The picture quality and acting are subpar, it's just hard to watch but i did. I can watch movies over and over, doub't i'll sit through this again.Gave it one star 'cause i had to, Spend your money on ROGUE FORCE, much better bang for your buck. Stars Robert Patrick (the other terminator from terminator 2)
Christopher Walkin is a shoe shine boy.......1999-03-17
This is an intresting movie. The cast is great although Denis Hopper is predictable. They have these weird gestures and expressions that add to the movie. Pause the movie every minute or so and you will be in for a great suprise of bubbling laughter.
