A guilty, guilty pleasure, perhaps not one a left-wing feminist should be admitting to in public. Female boomers should recall yearly TV reruns of this Rodgers and Hammerstein production, featuring such delights as "Impossible" and "Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful?" It may appear a bit stark to younger viewers, but part of the charm of this 1964 network TV special, a remake of the live 1957 telecast originally built around Julie Andrews, is its utter simplicity. An extremely young Lesley Ann Warren and Stuart Damon (of General Hospital fame) are joined by Ginger Rogers, Walter Pidgeon, and Celeste Holm. Warren is all sweetness and innocence without a hint of saccharine artificiality, while Damon is a clear-eyed romantic. This very handsome love story is a bit of an oddity, but worth owning just for the memorable score. --Rochelle O'Gorman

Love it!.......2007-05-30
I have been looking for this video for a long time. The music in it is addictive and I can't get the songs out of my head! I especially enjoyed the bonus feature, with the actors telling how the show was made, and why they were chosen.
You will enjoy this!.......2007-05-29
Fun musical from Rogers and Hammerstein. Maybe their last? Done in 1964. Music is very enjoyable. Leslie Anne Warren's first.
wonderful.......2007-05-26
Takes me back to when we where kids and it only came on once a year.
A childhood memory comes back to life.......2007-05-25
This was one of my favorite movies growing up and the Prince -- Stuart Damon -- ended up on my favorite soap opera -- General Hospital for 30 yrs.
Classic Almost Ruined By Poor Transfer..........2007-05-17
It's nice reading about people's memories of this production-like so many, my sister and myself grew up looking forward to watching "Cinderella" on CBS. In college, I knew that if conversation topics ran short on dates, just mentioning this production to the woman in question would bring a flood of memories. Everybody, but everybody remembered it with love. It's still treasurable. But I cannot recommend the DVD edition. The VHS edition was fine-the overture and closing credit music was flown in from the stereo album master (nice, although it accounts for the "glitch" at the closing that one reviewer mentioned-the album take was different so the music did not match exactly). The picture was fine-definitely better than the Mary Martin version of "Peter Pan." (The master tape of that production was destroyed by an incompetent video tech. and what survives is a composite of five backup copies.) The laser disc was even better. But the DVD has a horrible "enhanced" stereo soundtrack that is all echo. The picture is very soft. I've seen all the video editions of this title plus a presentation in NYC before the first video was released-trust me, it looks and sounds far better than this. Until they remaster this, enjoy the laser version, if you can!

This modern-day teen update of Les Liaisons Dangereuses suffered at the hands of both critics and moviegoers thanks to its sumptuous ad campaign, which hyped the film as an arch, highly sexual, faux-serious drama (not unlike the successful, Oscar-nominated Dangerous Liaisons). In fact, this intermittently successful sudser plays like high comedy for its first two-thirds, as its two evil heroes, rich stepsiblings Kathryn (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Sebastian (Ryan Phillippe), blithely ruin lives and reputations with hearts as black as coal. Kathryn wants revenge on a boyfriend who dumped her, so she befriends his new intended, the gawky Cecile (Selma Blair), and gets Sebastian to deflower the innocent virgin. The meat of the game, though, lies in Sebastian's seduction of good girl Annette (a down-to-earth Reese Witherspoon), who's written a nationally published essay entitled "Why I Choose to Wait." If he fails, Kathryn gets his precious vintage convertible; if he wins, he gets Kathryn--in the sack. When the movie sticks to the merry ruination of Kathryn and Sebastian's pawns, it's highly enjoyable: Gellar in particular is a two-faced manipulator extraordinaire, and Phillippe, usually a black hole, manages some fun as a hipster Eurotrash stud. Most pleasantly surprising of all is Witherspoon, who puts a remarkably self-assured spin on a character usually considered vulnerable and tortured (see Michelle Pfeiffer in Dangerous Liaisons). Unfortunately, writer-director Roger Kumble undermines everything he's built up with a false ending that's true to neither the reconceived characters nor the original story--revenge is a dish best served cold, not cooked up with unnecessary plot twists. --Mark Englehart

Changing Movies Forever.......2007-04-28
I absolutely loved this movie! There is just no getting around it, the plot is well developed and the twists and turns that happen in the movie are very well done. I think that the casting was done really well; Sarah Michelle Gellar can play the bitchy attitude very well and Reese Witherspoon has always had that innocent girl next door look about her. it is most certainly a movie that I think would have the most appeal to teenagers and people in their 20s.
In 1999 a miracle happened, Cruel Intentions Happened.......2007-04-02
In 1999 one of the best movies ever made was released Cruel Intentions a movie about seduction and destruction. Srah Michelle Gellar plays the leading character deceptive Kathryn Merteuil who makes a bet with her cunning stepbrother Sebastion Valmont played by the incrediable talented Ryan Phillippe who plots to sleep with the headmaster's clever virginal daughter Anette Hargrove (Reese Whiterspoon)before the school year begins. The terms are if Sebastion doesn't succeed in sleeping with Anette than than hot little car of his is hers but if he wins she'll give him something he's been obssessing about ever since the day their parents got married: he would get to sleep with her. Other characters add to the plot like Cecile Caldwell (Selma Blair) a naive teen who Court Renyolds dumped Kathryn for. Blaine Tuttle (Joshua Jackson) an openly gay friend of Sebastion. Cecile's black chello teacher and crush Ronald Clifford (Sean Patrick Thomas). Gregory McConnell (Eric Mabius) the first on a list of suspects on who wrote Anette warning her about Sebastion's cruel intentions. Adding to the mix is Sebastion's overcharging pyhciatrist Dr. Greenbaum (Swoosie Kurtz) her easily seduced daughter Marci (Tara Reid)Cecile's prim and proper mother Bunny (Bunny Caldwell) and Sebastion's kind and generous aunt Helen Rosemond (Louise Fletcher). Now that you've been introduced to the characters lets talk about the plot.
Step-siblings Kathryn Merteuil and Sebastion Valmont had always like the game of seduction and they played it good. After being dumprf on 4th of July weekend, Kathryn learns he fell for naive Cecile Caldwell and offers Sebastion a challeng to seduce Cecile. But Sebastion suggests a greater challlenge to deflower the new headmasters virginal daughter Anette Hargrove before the school year begins. The terms are if he fails Kathryn gets his car and if he wins he gets to sleep with Kathryn. The game is taken to far and until the end of the summer no one will be able to escape their dangerous game of Cat and Mouse. And the biggest shock is the rule is broken when Sebastion begins to fall in love with Anette. Who will win?
I thought this was a fantastic movie. It had suspense emotion, drama, romance and even a little comedy throwed in. When people say this is just another teen movie they are so wrong. This movie had depth and wasn't just an idiotic film. Sarah Michelle Gellar shinned in this movie never like before. Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon were so convincing and the movie itself was brilliant. Cruel Intentiuons has become one of my favorite novies over the years so not much compares to it. I have not seen Dangerous Liasions but Cruel Intentions will probably turn out better in my view. Don't judge this movie too quickly. Don't look at it has a teen movie. If you ignore that you might find this movie quite good. I love this movie. It is thrilling, clever, sexy, dramatic, romantic, and a very good twisted love story. If I could give it more than 5 points I would!
Not a Selma Blair Fan.......2007-04-02
What's up with Selma Blair's retarded rag doll performance-it's disctracting and really not as funny as the producers seem to think.
Otherwise I think this film is sleek and perfect. I own and watch it regularly.
I really like this movie!.......2007-01-29
I truly think that this movie about love, lies, and deciet was very entertaining and held my interest throughout the entire movie. It is about two wicked stepsiblings who nake their way playing wicked and cruel games on people and victimize people. Thier latest mission involves a new college student who has no idea that the stepbrother is tricking her to win a bet. She also soesn't know that the stepsister who is always kind and wears a smile on her face is an extremely evil and hurtful person who cares only about being number 1 in her wicked life. I highly reccomend it to anyone who loves a good romantic thriller that even surpasses "Basic Instinct" A-
bad influence on kids.......2006-12-17
Sarah Michelle Gellar was gorgeous in her brunetteness. I didn't like the other actors in this movie and I didn't like this movie. It's a glossy movie that glamourizes meanness and Sarah Michelle Gellar's downfall in the end is so unlikely that I betcha some untalented and unlovable rich girls are out there right now sleeping around, taking drugs and sabotaging working girls like Tara Reid, Mischa Barton and Lindsey Lohan with initial false friendship. Sometimes we watch things we know ahead of time that we won't like because it's popular (e.g. Devil's Advocate) because we know it is going to have a social influence. Only by being exposed to the information, will the subsequent patterns of behavior be recognized.

They step onto the stage of London's Royal Albert Hall: Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker, and Eric Clapton. The capacity crowd, which includes Sean Penn and Jude Law, stands to greet them. Thirty-seven years after their farewell concert, the famously fiery Cream did the unthinkable--they reunited. This double-disc collection (and accompanying CD set) captures highlights from the historic four-day engagement, beginning with a buoyant "I'm So Glad" and ending with a triumphant "Sunshine of Your Love." It would be churlish to suggest that Cream appears exactly as they did in the 1960s (Bruce looks a little frail), but the legendary power trio still has the goods. Bruce is still the essence of soul (a particularly rich vocal on "Politician"), while Baker is as irrepressible as ever (a rare vocal on "Pressed Rat and Warthog," percussive tour-de-force "Toad"). Then there's Clapton, who remains as much a master of the guitar as of understatement. "Thanks for waiting all these years," he quips after a slow-burning "Outside Woman Blues," then adds, "We're going to do every song we know." The track listing is, indeed, generous, despite the absence of such Cream classics as "I Feel Free," "Strange Brew," and "Tales of Brave Ulysses." All told, there are 22 songs plus three alternate takes--and not a bad one in the bunch. --Kathleen C. Fennessy
Description
In May of 2005 Cream returned to London's Royal Albert Hall-to the same stage where they had completed what was thought to be their final performance in 1968. It was one of the most eagerly anticipated, hard-to-get tickets in rock history. With the exception of a brief reunion set at their 1993 induction into the Rock and roll Hall of Fame, Cream had not played together in nearly four decades. This DVD documents Cream's momentous London shows. Performances from each of the four nights are featured and much more. Also included are alternate performances and interviews with Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce, and Eric Clapton. Cream formed in 1966 and disbanded in 1968. The band were a prolific and thrilling live act and toured incessantly in their short but remarkable history.Track Listings: I'm So Glad, Spoonful, Outside Woman Blues, Pressed Rat & Warthog, Sleepy Time Time, N.S.U., Badge, Politician, Sweet Wine, Rollin' & Tumblin', Stormy Monday, Deserted Cities of the Heart, Born Under a Bad Sign, We're Going Wrong, Crossroads, Sitting on Top of the World, White Room, Toad, Sunshine of Your Love, Spoonful (Alternate Takes), Sleepy Time Time (Alternate Takes), Badge (Alternate Takes), Sweet Wine (Alternate Takes), Rollin' & Tumblin', We're Going Wrong, White Room, Sunshine of Your Love
Customer Reviews:
Rock Stars are like pro athletes, they should retire by 45.......2007-06-25
I've read some of the delusional, worshipping comments of other's reviews here, and I just think they are all looking at Cream through Rose-tinted glasses. This put-back together band sounds slow, tentative, tired. Jack Bruce looks like they pulled him out of a nursing home to do this. Individually, they can still play, but their cohesion is slow- they are devoid of energy. Just go look at the other DVD, the one from the same place at the end of the 60s, and see the forcefull energy that band fired out there at the end of a comet-like three year run. The before-and-after contrast of 46 years is startling.
Cream's Triumphant Return.......2007-04-01
Crream's triumphant return is brilliantly filmed during their week in Albert Hall. The sound quality and photography is first rate, and the images are well-timed and skillfully directed.
The band itself is in top form and shows its musical age and experience brilliantly. Eric Clapton's guitar playing is as good as you will see or hear anywhere. Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker still are an exciting and stimulating rhythm section, and, in fact, Bruce does his famous duelling with Clapton on some of the numbers here. We see it especially in Sunshine of Your Love. Bruce and Clapton, despite their ages, still manage to sing their numbers with the same kind of verve as they did almost 40 years prior.
Of special interest here is the lack of gimmickry. There are no wah-wah pedals, for example, and no real distortion feedback effects. Stilll, the DVD has much to keep up the interest of the Cream fan who watches it.
No DVD of a live performance is perfect, and there are few but notable letdowns here. For instance, they include the witty but musically weak "Pressed Rat and Warthog" from the Wheels of Fire collection. The version of "Toad" here is rather long, and I'm not a fan of drawn-out drum solos, although Baker is amazingly energetic in this one.
Still, for any Cream fans out there, this is a fine DVD to have. You probably won't watch this just once!
THE TRIUMPHANT RETURN OF THE CREAM IN 2005........2007-03-06
As I stated on the last DVD review of "CREAM FAREWELL CONCERT," I will be doing a follow-up and add to my friend Metamorpho's excellent reviews of all of CREAM'S legendary albums. I already wrote the review on the legendary historic DVD concert "CREAM FAREWELL CONCERT" from 26 November 1968. I will now write a review on the recent 2-3-5-6, May 2005 historic reunion concert of CREAM live at The Royal Albert Hall in London, England. With these two reviews and Metamorpho's excellent CREAM reviews, this will finally complete the CREAM series on a good positive note and not the way CREAM tragically ended in November 1968. Again, this one's for you Metamorpho and for the MIGHTY CREAM.
I will be writing a review on the now legendary historic return DVD concert performance entitled "CREAM, ROYAL ALBERT HALL, LONDON, MAY 2-3-5-6, 2005" by one of Rock's greatest legendary bands and the greatest three-man band ever assembled. I give you one of England's pride and joy's, the one and only, THE MIGHTY C-R-E-A-M. This legendary historic DVD concert performance was originally released in 2005 on Compact Disc and DVD on the Reprise Records label in association with Rhino Records Entertainment which is a Time Warner Music Company. As always, if I hear any new additional information concerning this legendary historic DVD concert performance or the artist, I will edit this review immediately so that you the consumer will get the best informative and most accurate review possible. And now, without further delay, it is now time for me to take you back in time to the accounts and events that would lead to the "CREAM REUNION CONCERT" from 2005.
CREAM will forever be remembered as being Rock's first true supergroup and for being the greatest three-man band in Rock n' Roll history. CREAM would forever change the sound of how the blending and mixture of Blues and Rock n' Roll would flow through the speakers and amplifiers. When CREAM performed their final farewell concert at The Royal Albert Hall in London on 26 November 1968, Rock n' Roll would suffer a major loss and be dealt with a devastating blow. Thirty-seven long years would go by with no reunions or performances due to the inactivity of CREAM. How about this, actually from 1968 to 1993, twenty-five long years would go by with no reunions or performances due to the inactivity of CREAM until their induction into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame in January 1993. CREAM would perform live on stage for the first time in twenty-five years. CREAM performed like they never broke up or left Rock n' Roll. In my opinion, this single 1993 performance would set the stage for the DVD concert I'm about to review for you now, twelve years later in the making. May I also add that I never thought in my wildest dreams, that I would ever be doing a review on the recent historic reunion concert by THE MIGHTY CREAM. From disbelief, I even had to see the concert on DVD for myself to make sure that it was CREAM. And sure enough, IT WAS. Seeing the concert, It was great seeing all three together on stage again. Eric looked great and Ginger looked very vibrantly healthy. Jack on the other hand, did not look very healthy at all. Please forgive me for saying this and I do not mean to offend anyone especially Jack, Ginger and Eric. I do not know if CREAM did this reunion for the money or not. In my opinion, I do not think money played a part in this reunion at all. I think that ONLY LOVE could have brought these three giants back together again. Which leads me to Jack. I think that Jack is terribly ill and sick. I think that it was Jack's dying wish and request to perform with the MIGHTY CREAM for one last time. When you see Jack performing on stage, he seems so terribly weak. He even has a stool on stage to sit on while still performing since he can barely stand up. I really truly hope that I'm wrong but if it is true, I praise Eric and Ginger for putting aside their differences especially between Jack and Ginger and perform as CREAM and bring back the magic one more time. It would also seem to me that with this historic reunion that an old Rock n' Roll warrior like Jack Bruce may have finally found some inner peace within himself and made peace with the other two members and a great legendary band called CREAM. The funny thing about this reunion concert is that CREAM would mark their triumphant return and perform at the very same place where they ended some thirty-seven years ago. In my opinion, this legendary historic concert is another true testament of the brilliance, greatness and genius of three extremely talented masterminds and a fine fitting tribute to a great legendary band that adds more fuel into the legend and legacy of the greatest three-man band that ever lived that was truly ahead of their time. And yes, THIS CONCERT DOES TRULY KICK A*S. A LATE NOTE: I would deeply like to thank my fellow reader and reviewer ...'s or "Saucerhead" for the new info on Jack Bruce. He is quoted as saying: "Jack Bruce was diagnosed with Liver Cancer in 2003 and in fact, had a liver transplant in that same year with near fatal post-operation rejection complications. This would definitely account for his unhealthy appearance in the 2005 CREAM reunion. According to WIKIPEDIA ORG, so far and hopefully, he has since recovered." I wish Jack Bruce well and pray and hope that he has made a full recovery.
Now it is time for their music to speak for itself and do all of the talking. CREAM would take the stage before a thunderous ovation. On DISC ONE, the concert begins with the same legendary Rocker that the band ended with in November 1968, "I'm So Glad," the slow blistering shorter version Blues classic "Spoonful," the breathtaking Blues Rocker "Outside Woman Blues," the first time ever performed live and sung by Ginger, "Pressed Rat And Warthog," the slow beautiful soothing Blues classic "Sleepy Time Time," the energetic Blues Rocker "N.S.U.," the late great George Harrison composition Blues Rocker "Badge," the slow haunting killer Blues classic "Politician," the slow turned fast paced Rocker "Sweet Wine," the train sounding harmonica filled speedy drums number "Rollin' And Tumblin'," the flooring slow Blues classic "Stormy Monday," the amazing and incredible Blues Rocker "Deserted Cities Of The Heart," the mindblowing slow Blues classic "Born Under A Bad Sign" and the sizzling Blues Rocker "We're Going Wrong." The alternate takes of the blistering Blues Rockers "Sleepy Time Time" and "We're Going Wrong" are excellent and could have replaced the chosen versions easily. END OF DISC ONE.
DISC TWO begins with the new blistering Robert Johnson Blues classic Rocker "Crossroads," the forever CREAM trademark Rocker "White Room," the return of Ginger Baker, the incredible "Toad" and concludes the concert with the forever CREAM trademark breakthrough heavy metal Rocker "Sunshine Of Your Love." The alternate take of "Sunshine Of Your Love" sounds about as good as the chosen version if not better. This disc also includes interviews with all three CREAM members and they talk about the events that led to the breakup in 1968 and the events that let up to their reunion concert in 2005. END OF DISC TWO. May I add that Eric Clapton played guitar with such raw energy and power that I have not heard from him in years. This concert is the best that I have ever seen Eric Clapton ever play. Eric Clapton must have found the fountain of youth because he KICKED A*S. Clapton was playing guitar incredibly well and was on fire. Ginger Baker played his drums like he also found the fountain of youth because he kicked a*s. Despite looking terribly ill and sitting on his stool for much of the time during the concert, Jack Bruce really dug deep down within his heart and delivered a blistering performance. Jack's bass playing and patterns were the breakthrough for all bass players and he proves it and shows why in this concert.
Overall, this is one hell of a concert worth seeking and checking out especially for the new beginners and curious ones that are new to the sound and music of the MIGHTY CREAM.
I would like to highly recommend purchasing this legendary historic DVD concert to own as a valuable and important part of his or her own personal DVD music concert collection. This legendary historic DVD concert has already proven to stand the test of time and will always be around to be enjoyed, appreciated and cherished for many years to come, NOW AND FOREVER. THIS CONCERT IS ROCK N' ROLL HISTORY IN THE MAKING, THIS IS ONE CONCERT THAT YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE WITHOUT.
In closing, CREAM has done the impossible. CREAM defied all the odds and came out of no where to bless us with their magic and presence in order to play and perform their own special blend of music one more time. With the extreme success of CREAM'S reunion concert at The Royal Albert Hall in London, England on 2-3-5-6 May 2005, concert promoters would get together and book CREAM here in the United States at New York's Madison Square Garden. If you only had one Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers film to watch, this classic musical from 1936 would be your best bet. It was the dance duo's sixth film together, and director George Stevens handled the material with as much flair behind the camera as Fred and Ginger displayed in front of it. This time out, Fred plays a gambling hoofer who's engaged to marry a young socialite (Betty Furness), but when he's late for the wedding his prospective father-in-law sends him away, demanding that he earn $25,000 before he can earn his daughter's hand in marriage. When Fred meets Ginger in a local dance studio (where he pretends to be a klutz so she can be his instructor), he's instantly smitten and the $25,000 deal becomes a moot point. Featuring six songs by Jerome Kern and Dorothy Fields (including a splendid rendition of "The Way You Look Tonight") and some of the most elegant dance sequences ever filmed, this lightweight fluff epitomizes the jazz-age style of 1930s musicals, virtually defining the genre with graceful joie de vivre. --Jeff Shannon
Description
It's Swing Time anytime Fred and Ginger slip on their dancing shoes. Here, Fred's a gambler with a fiancee back home...but one look at Ginger and all bets are off! He pursues, she resists, and it's all tied together by a series of breathtaking dances. "Bojangles of Harlem," a tribute to hoofer Bill Robinson, has Astaire tapping with three giant Astaire shadows. The sly "Pick Yourself Up" features Ginger teaching the supposedly flub-footed Fred how to dance. Other highlights from the splendid Jerome Kern-Dorothy Fields score include "A Fine Romance," "Waltz in Swing Time," and the Academy Award(R) winning "The Way You Look Tonight." George Stevens directs. Year: 1936 Director: George Stevens Starring: Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Victor Moore, Helen Broderick
DVD Features:

Swing Time.......2007-06-21
George Stevens's classic Astaire-Rogers entry too often takes a back seat to the prior year's "Top Hat", and shouldn't, as it's every bit as good. The dancing sequences are unmatched in the series, particularly the "Bojangles of Harlem" number, and the gossamer Kern-Fields score includes the immortal "The Way You Look Tonight", and the overlooked "Never Gonna Dance", among others. Victor Moore provides appealing comic relief, along with "Top Hat" veterans Eric Blore and Helen Broderick. One of the screen's tip-top musicals.
La crème de la crème. .......2007-02-19
You cannot go wrong with any of the Fred and Ginger movies, but this one is la crème de la crème.
Why? As Eric Blore says, for the sheer heaven of the "Pick Yourself Up" number, as you watch their feet fly across the dance floor, with Fred in trademark formal attire (in the morning my dears but it fits the lighthearted plot!)and Ginger in the pert black and white knee length dress that lets you see with your very own eyes what an incredibly nimble partner she was for the incomparable Astaire.
This is the ultimate in their "we are making it up as we go along" dances. Fred - who is supposed to be having his first dance lesson of his life - bowls over Ginger and dance school owner Eric Blore by his fancy footwork to demonstrate just how much Ginger has "taught him" and thereby gets her job back for her. Ginger proves to be quite the quick study, as she more than holds her own with Fred.
The number displays many of Fred's concepts about how such dances should be filmed--with one camera that can pan but does not move, with three different tempos to keep things lively, and with action that moves the plot forward. By the end of the dance, Ginger has changed her mind about Fred, and has fallen in love, even though she will change her mind several more times before the final scene.
This is what dancing is meant to be. Watch Ginger watch Fred (which in addition to her agility on the dance floor is the secret to their on screen chemistry).
Why do other dance teams not get that? You aren't on the dance floor to show off how great you are to others; you are there to connect with your partner. That is why Fred's later dance in another film with Eleanor Powell, "Begin the Beguine", while a tour de force, in the end, doesn't work romantically. Powell is the best female dancer, but not the best PARTNER, that Fred ever danced with. She is way too into her own dancing to make us believe that she cares a fig for Fred or anyone else for that matter.
(As an aside, Powell is more believable romantically in her playful scenes with Jimmy Stewart in "Born to Dance"' perhaps she was less intimidated by his reputatin than by Fred's?)
In contrast, every time Ginger looks at Fred, we know that the world has become just the two of them and the rest of us are chopped liver.
If the couples in modern ballroom dance competitions would allow themselves to look at each other in this way, it would ratchet up the things, considerably.
Watch also how Ginger allows an air of frivolity and nonchalance to flash toward the camera.
Later in the film... No one ever looked as good shampooing her hair as does Ginger "Just the Way You Look Tonight". It is whipped cream by the way, not Fells Naphtha.
They dazzle us again in the lovely "Waltz in Swing Time." This time, we get to see a dance that, according to the plot, they had prepared ahead of time. It is a great combination of intricate steps, incorporating some of what they "made up" in "Pick Yourself Up". They end the dance by exiting off stage in a whirl of light and shadow, assisted by Venetian blinds, another Fred and Ginger trademark.
And no set in any movie before this was ever as gorgeously black and white as the grandly reopened 'Silver Sandal', in which they dance their adieux in "Never Gonna Dance"--the number famous for so many takes that it was the wee hours and Ginger's pumps were blood soaked by the time they finished it. They go up and down the double set of stairs, as the black-floored set sparkles all around them.
Enjoy the banter over "cuffs or no cuffs" and the remarkable change that comes over Betty Furness' father and household when they learn that Fred has a knack for making money. This is, after all, still the Great Depression.
But who would ever guess it, as Fred (in the part of Lucky Garnett) wins enough at gambling to make the stars and their costars Helen Broderick and Victor Moore look like a million bucks, as they motor off to the New Amsterdam in an open Dusenberg in the snow. Yes, only in Hollywood!
As the snow continues to fall, Fred and Ginger sing about their "Fine Romance" which makes it seem like they are never going to manage to sort out their differences, but wait for it, there will be a happy ending, this time in the form of a laughing finale.
This is just about the best medicine you can buy without a prescription. Enjoy!
Swing Time correction.......2007-02-07
It's always enjoyable to read about the Astaire-Rogers movies, and I thank Mr. Moore for his contributions to the old musicals. He made a glaring mistake, however, in his Swing Time review. He says it contains "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off.'' He refers to it as "perhaps their greatest comic song.''
"Let's Call the Whole Thing Off'' is from "Shall We Dance.'' The comedy number in "Swing Time'' is "A Fine Romance.''

Fred and Ginger at their best........2007-01-27
If I had to choose my very favourite Fred & Ginger film, I'm not sure I could do it. But Swingtime would certainly be in the running for 1st place. I just love those two dancer/singer/actors and watching them dance across my TV screen, in any film is pure joy and a good 90 or so minutes spent.

Swingtime is the one Astaire and Rogers musical which did not transfer
to DVD. The picture "freezes" at several points early in the film.
I have not had this experience with the other Astaire/Rogers DVDs and I
own all of them. Have any of the other owners of this DVD had this prob-
lem?

2006 marks the arrival of five Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers films (Flying Down to Rio, The Gay Divorcee, Roberta, Carefree, and The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle) on DVD after the first five were released in 2005. The big package is this Astaire & Rogers Ultimate Collector's Edition, which contains all 10 films plus a CD, a bonus DVD with the documentary Astaire and Rogers: Partners in Rhythm, press-book replicas, and some other material. If you want the big package with the extra stuff but already bought the five films in 2005, you can get the Astaire & Rogers Partial Ultimate Collector's Edition, which includes everything except the actual discs of those first five films. Or, if you only want the five new films, pick up Astaire & Rogers Collection, Vol. 2 as a bookend to Astaire & Rogers Collection, Vol. 1.
The Astaire-Rogers films mix light romantic comedy (usually centered around mistaken identities and ending, inevitably, in blissful wedding promises) with elegant dinner wear and surreal sets intended to transport '30s audiences away from the Depression to such locales as Rio, Paris, and Venice. The two stars are also aided by a recurring stable of RKO players such as Edward Everett Horton (master of the double-take), Eric Blore, and Helen Broderick. And then there's that sensational dancing set to great songs by the likes of Irving Berlin, George and Ira Gershwin, and Jerome Kern, numbers that are not merely entertaining but also innovative for their time in that they reveal character and advance the plot. Add it all up, and you have a recipe for an irrepressible joie de vivre that practically defines the movie musical.
Flying Down to Rio (1933) headlined Dolores Del Rio and Gene Raymond, but it was the fourth- and fifth-billed stars who would rewrite cinematic history. Astaire and Rogers had limited screen time, but were still able to establish many of the trademarks of their later films. The heart of the film is "The Carioca," a company dance extravaganza in which they take the floor together for the first time; their eyes meet and their foreheads touch. Their dance lasts only a few minutes, but it was the highlight of the film and audiences wanted more. The Gay Divorcee (1934) is their best early picture, a loose adaptation of Astaire's stage show, 'The Gay Divorce.' The only song retained for the movie is Cole Porter's smash hit "Night and Day," which is the setting for a sublime pas de deux between Fred and Ginger. The closer is the sprawling 17-minute ensemble number "The Continental." Roberta (1935) was a step backward, with too much time spent on 1930s Parisian fashion and the romance between top-billed Irene Dunne (who gets the best Jerome Kern ballads, "Yesterdays" and "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes") and Randolph Scott. But as the second-banana couple Astaire and Rogers still get a tap battle, a romantic duet, and plenty of comic banter.
With a score by Irving Berlin, Top Hat (1935) is most famous for two numbers, Astaire's definitive tuxedo setting "Top Hat, White Tie, and Tails" and the feathery duet "Cheek to Cheek." But other joys include Astaire's "Fancy Free" declaration, "Isn't It a Lovely Day," and the grand finale "The Piccolino." Follow the Fleet (1936) changes the pace a bit, with Astaire playing a sailor, and it suffers from making him and Rogers the second-banana couple to the dull Randolph Scott and Harriet Hilliard. But it still has plenty of laughs and some classic Irving Berlin numbers, including "Let Yourself Go," which Rogers sings before she and Astaire compete in a dance contest; a Rogers solo tap number; "I'm Putting All My Eggs in One Basket," their best comic dance. The pièce de résistance is "Let's Face the Music and Dance," a show within a show in which the pair dons their customary evening formals. Effortlessly flowing from pantomime to song to dance, this sublime piece of storytelling is one of the series' defining moments. Maybe their most enjoyable picture, Swing Time (1936) features the set-piece "Pick Yourself Up," in which Rogers "teaches" Astaire to dance before they break into a spectacular number; the farewell ode "Never Gonna Dance," and the Oscar-winning "Just the Way You Look Tonight," from the team of Jerome Kern and Dorothy Fields.
Shall We Dance (1937) has a complex plot that has Astaire and Rogers actually getting married before the final credits roll, and turns George and Ira Gershwin's brilliant "They Can't Take That Away from Me" into a heartbreaking ode. Other great songs include "Slap That Bass," "They All Laughed," and "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off," unforgettably performed on roller skates. The eighth and ninth entries in the series tried some different approaches, with the underrated Carefree (1938) more of a comedy vehicle for Ginger (yet still including some fine dances and Irving Berlin songs as well as their first onscreen kiss) and The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle (1939) portraying the pair as historical dancing stars and using a score of turn-of-the-century standards. The Barkleys of Broadway (1949) is the oddity, reuniting the stars 10 years after their last RKO picture when Judy Garland had to be replaced due to health problems. It's trademark MGM: splashy colors, Fred in a gimmicky solo number (playing sorcerer's apprentice to a line of unoccupied shoes), Oscar Levant providing his usual dynamic pianism and acerbic personality, and a score that is at its best when it borrows songs from a previous generation (including the big ballroom number set to "They Can't Take That Away from Me"). The film falls short of their best work, but serves as a fond remembrance of the most glorious partnership in film history. --David Horiuchi

Twice I ordered this set for my wife, and each time the package arrived with DVDs missing from the set! All the containers were there, but as many as five (5) DVDs were gone. What a joke. I gave up and purchased the set at Borders. Does Amazon care? Never heard from them.

Like Carrie before it, Ginger Snaps uses horror-movie conventions as an inspired metaphor for puberty. When beautiful but reclusive goth teenager Ginger (Katharine Isabelle) is attacked by a monstrous wolf on the eve of her first period, her body starts changing in a big way, as do her suddenly lusty, feral appetites. Director John Fawcett masterfully balances the expectations of teen horror exploitation (blood, bodies, sex, smart dialogue, and good old-fashioned monster-movie scares) with clever black humor and tender sisterly solidarity. Only devoted sister Brigitte (gloomy Emily Perkins) knows the truth, and even as Ginger's abrupt transformation threatens their once unbreakable friendship, bonds of blood and love keep them together: Brigitte disposes of Ginger's victims while searching for a cure. Mimi Rogers costars as their dotty but unexpectedly sensitive mom, ready to sacrifice all to protect her daughter. Blood and blood ties have never been more evocative. --Sean Axmaker
Customer Reviews:
Hands Down the BEST Werewolf/Horror movie made.......2007-07-03
Let me begin by saying that Im a huge fan of the horror genre. I have read the foundational works of H.P. Lovecraft, Stephen King, Edgar Allan Poe, Mary Shelley and Bram Stoker. I have seen many of the werewolf movies like Howling I & II, American Werewolf in London, Dog Soldiers, Beast of Gauverdan, but none, NONE have come close to the pathos and sheer characterization that Ginger Snaps has. Two girls who are inseparable, struggle with becoming women and undergoing their first menstrual development into womanhood. Both are fascinated with death and live typical ansgsty suburban lives. Both experience first hand the absolute horror of becoming werewolves. Plainly said, this movie takes the metaphor of growing up and turns it upside down. Like Joss Whedon's Buffy, these girls have to confront what it is to be female and what it means to be an outsider.
After renting this movie I have now purchased all 3 of the Ginger Snaps movies. While the second two dont achieve the magnificence of the first, they are worthy of the title (the 3rd is actually a prelude that tells the story set in the 19th century). I highly, highly recommend these movies to enthusiasts of the horror, werewolf and supernatural genre!
A movie worth sinking your teeth into!.......2007-06-01
I haven't really come across any really good werewolf movies since The Howling, An American Werewolf in London, and more recently The Brotherhood of the Wolf and Dog Soldiers. Ginger Snaps was a pleasant surprise in its ability to entertain with the story of two sisters, Brigitte and Ginger being the main players. The two siblings are considered weird by the rest of their peers and share a close bond with each other.Things change when Ginger is bitten one fateful night setting the stage for Ginger's transformation into a werewolf, and complicating life for Brigitte whose sense of loyalty to her sister makes her cover Ginger's tracks and enlist the help of a guy, Sam to help save her sister.
Its fast-paced, and thrilling with scares thrown in for good measure. A competent addition to the werewolf horror genre.
For a werewolf movie i loved it!.......2007-05-13
Most werewolf movies i see are cheesy. For a B-movie this movie had a good storyline. The characters were good. Movie cam fast, in good quality.
A sad story; typical werewolf flick in that matter . . ........2007-03-11
"Ginger Snaps" is an interesting werewolf flick, in that at first we're not quite sure if maybe it isn't just hormones that is making Ginger act so strangely. But her sister soon learns the truth and sets out to try to cure her. I don't want to give too many details - I'm certain other reviewers have - but I will say that I liked this movie. It isn't among my very favorites, but it is a good, solid werewolf horror flick with a few new twists that make it very worthwhile to watch. Like all traditional werewolf movies, it has a terribly sad ending. But if we wanted to laugh, we'd watch "Teen Wolf," now, wouldn't we?
Kind of Makes Me Wish I Had A Sister . . ........2007-01-28
Foremost, I gave this film four stars because the end-product is pretty impressive considering the fairly scant budget (I'm thinking Mimi Rogers probably took about a quarter of that five mil). So, while it is not the quality of higher budget films, it does take some significant risks . . . which is tremedously refreshing.
Both Emily Perkins and Katharine Isabelle (who play sisters) do a fantastic job with their roles! And, like others said, their chemistry is surprisingly vibrant. Likewise, Kris Lemche (who plays Sam, a young "horticulturalist") is shockingly engaging. (If anything, I'm actually glad to see him in a role which demonstrates his immense talents . . . Final Destination III nearly destroyed his career!!) As far as "the talent" is concerned, there are no "bad" actors here . . . in fact, Mimi Rogers' dedication to this indie-horror was AMAZING! (Her portrayal of a well-intended, but completely oblivious suburban mom was spot-on!)
As others noted, the special effects are, well, not good. BUT, that's okay!! Because special effects do not reside at the heart of this film (who needs another Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow?!) Instead, we have a film which catalogs the (potential) trauma of being an adolescent with striking honesty. And while the comparisons to De Palma's Carrie are legitimate, it is VERY important to note that Carrie's telekinesis was triggered by the onset of menstruation (it was DORMANT, waiting to awake), Ginger's transformation is not the result of a dormant power . . . she is merely a victim of circumstance. I think this is a REALLY important distinction . . . and each are equally as interesting!! Each makes its own statement about adolescence.
Moreover, I appreciate how this film addresses the science behind folklore. This is a new trend in horror . . . and contributes an element of realism to the most unrealistic of situations (We see this is 28 Days Later and in the Dawn of the Dead remake). The idea of "infection" is a very appealing one!! And, the explanation of how the "cures" work, very interesting!!
This film is an overall success. The script is solid, the acting is great, the premise is "smart," . . . the cinematography is adequate at best (but don't let so-so filming deter you!!) It shows the complex bond between women in a respectful way (especially the relationship between the mother and the daughters). If you approach the film as "low-budget horror" I think you will be pleasantly surprised . . .

Creating the Music.......2007-03-09
Mark Moorman has crafted a surprisingly good documentary dedicated to the life and work of legendary music producer Tom Dowd. Relatively unknown outside the recording industry Dowd crafted some of the greatest music of the 20th Century. Combining interviews, film clips, and photographs Moorman tells Dowd's story from his years as a physicist on the Manhattan Project to his becoming the star producer at Atlantic Records and finally his production work with Clapton, Skynard, and others. The Who's Who that Dowd worked with is amazing.
In addition to the Dowd story one gets a good view of how the music gets recorded and a fair amount of the history of Atlantic Records. If there is a problem with this film it's that it doesn't present enough of the music. The highlight is watching Dowd remaster the tracks of Layla some 30 years down the road with a childlike glee that is charming.
The bonus material is equally interesting as almost another 90 minutes of interview footage with artists, fellow producers and family members. This is a worthwhile viewing experience for anyone interested in Dowd, early recordins or music in general. Do yourself a favor and see it.
music maker's magic.......2007-01-25
Pick up most any hit record beginning in the late 1940s, especially any recording done with Atlantic Records, and you will likely see that one Tom Dowd was the producer or recording engineer. In this loving tribute to Dowd, who died October 27, 2002 before the film was finished, those inside the guild honor the memory of one whom they universally acknowledge was a legendary genius and wonderful human being. In his younger years Dowd was a physics student at Columbia, and even worked on the atom bomb project (he was present at the Bikini Atoll tests), but his mother was an opera singer and perhaps he was destined for music. Dowd was a master technical innovator, musical aesthete, coach, father figure, and psychologist. He himself narrates most of the film, but we are also treated to original concert footage (Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, etc.) and retrospective interviews with a number of the stars whose sounds he perfected, including Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, and Greg Allman. The five minutes or so when Dowd sits at a console and walks us through the thirty-year-old master copy of "Layla," starting with only the guitars and then adding the various parts until they pulse with that incredibly evocative sound that defined an era, interspersed with poignant reflections by Clapton, are worth the entire film. One disappoint in this otherwise fascinating glimpse of the history of music recording since the late 1940s is that we learn nothing at all personal about Dowd, and nothing at all about any weaknesses, failures, misjudgments, and the like, that would have made this entirely likable person even more richly human.
An artist with a different talent........2007-01-10
I wasn't familiar with Tom Dowd except as a credit or a footnote. It finally hit me that I was seeing his name on a lot of projects (particularly for Atlantic Records) and out of curiousity started searching for information about Dowd. I was pleased to come across this DVD. It really shows a man who had a gift; maybe not a musical gift, per se, but one that enabled him to make singers/musicians sound their best. I was sorry to learn that he passed away not long after the release of this project. Very good documentary.
What It's All About.......2006-08-30
Tom Dowd was the master in the recording studio. We have him to thank for not only his technical achievements (pioneering multi-track recording, the linear fader, the atom bomb), but his artistic contribution to music in the latter half of the 20th century. Arguably the single most influential individual in music in the 20th century, as he had his hands on the faders of so many GREAT recordings of truly inspired artists. This documentary boils down the essence of his career to a fine syrup of love, respect, and admiration that all the artists, engineers, and producers felt for this largely unknown giant of the recording industry. And more than anything else, this DVDD shows that the man just plain had fun doing it. And isn't that what art should be all about?
May not be for everyone.......2006-07-06
I've watched this DVD several times already and I really enjoy it. The fact that I'm a recording studio professional and a guitar player certainly has a lot to do with my appreciation of the legendary status that Tom Dowd has in the studio world. I remember when he came to work in a studio where I was employed and people were speaking in reverential tones about his presence. Well, he certainly deserved the praise he received and this documentary will help to explain why to those who are interested. I didn't know a lot about him except having seen his name on many of my favorite recordings and it seems that he exemplified the things that I have aspired to. Wish I got to know him, we would have had a lot to talk about.

Fans of classic movie musicals will be in heaven with Astaire & Rogers Collection, Vol. 1, featuring the DVD debut of five films of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, the quintessential dancing duo. The two gems of the set are Top Hat (1935), generally considered their definitive movie, and Swing Time (1936), which many consider their most enjoyable. Follow the Fleet (1936), Shall We Dance (1937), and The Barkleys of Broadway (1949) fill out the set, each with its own charms.
Follow the Fleet |
With a score by Irving Berlin, Top Hat is most famous for two numbers, Astaire's definitive tuxedo setting "Top Hat, White Tie, and Tails" and the feathery duet "Cheek to Cheek." But other joys include Astaire's "Fancy Free" declaration, "Isn't It a Lovely Day," and the grand finale "The Piccolino." Favorite musical moments in Swing Time include the set-piece "Pick Yourself Up," in which Rogers "teaches" Astaire to dance before they break into a spectacular number; the farewell ode "Never Gonna Dance," and the Oscar-winning "Just the Way You Look Tonight," from the team of Jerome Kern and Dorothy Fields.
Swing Time |
Follow the Fleet changes the pace a bit, with Astaire playing a sailor, and it suffers from making him and Rogers the second-banana couple to the dull Randolph Scott and Harriet Hilliard. Shall We Dance has a complex plot that has Astaire and Rogers actually getting married before the final credits roll, and turns George and Ira Gershwin's brilliant "They Can't Take That Away from Me" into a heartbreaking ode. Other great songs include "Slap That Bass," "They All Laughed," and "Let's Call the Whole Thing Off," unforgettably performed on roller skates. The Barkleys of Broadway is the oddity, reuniting the stars 10 years after their last RKO picture when Judy Garland had to be replaced due to health problems.

GREAT MOVIES!.......2007-02-24
ARRIVED NEXT DAY I ORDERED THEM! VERY GOOD QUALITY OF MOVIES.
the astaire collection volume 1.......2007-02-20
Fred Astaire is unbeatable especially when paired with Ginger Rogers or Eleanor Powell. These are older films and of course not up to modern technical standards. However the charm and the eleghance and the excellence shine through- A must for a fan or collector.
A Real Classic.......2007-01-21
Very well done. A must have for anyone who loves the old films. Even my 10 year old son, enjoyed the dancing and singing. :-)
Astaire & Rogers.......2007-01-12
For those who are fans of this great dancing duo, here is pure heaven, five full movies of their music and dance. Granted, the stories are usually pretty thin, often silly, but well writtn and well acted. The supporting cast is uniformly great. I love "Top Hat' for the music, 'Follow the Fleet' for the wonderful dance routines, each film for something special in it. If you are not a fan, viewing these 5 will make you one.

Product Description
Loosely based on the 1975 film Cooley High, the urban sitcom What's Happening! debuted on ABC in 1976 and ran for three seasons. After its network cancellation, the series went into syndication in 1980 and became so popular that the series was resurrected as What's Happening Now!
In the new series all the major cast members from the original show are depicted seven years later. Since the end of the original series, Raj and his friends have grown and their lives have changed. Roger "Raj" Thomas is an aspiring writer married to Nadine (Anne-Marie Johnson), a social worker and civic organizer. They are foster parents to Carolyn (Reina King), who displays the sass of Raj's younger sister Dee, who makes periodic visits home from college. Raj also purchased a half interest in his favorite high school hangout, Rob's Diner, which he now runs with feisty waitress Shirley. His dimwitted buddy Dwayne has become a computer programmer, Rerun is a used-car salesman and the two bachelors share an apartment.
22 episodes on 3 Discs, including: Raj Returns, Dee's Dilemma, Goodbye, Mr. Ripps, A Horse Is Not a Home, Aunt Shirley, Dee and Dwayne, The House Guest, Raj on the Run, Nadine's Boss, One Enchanted Evening, That Old Gang of Mine, Mr. First Nighter, Dueling Menus, The Challenge, Shirley's Pen Pal, Dwayne's Crush, Rags to Riches, The Wedding, The New Kid, Married or Not, The Bully , The Improbable Dream

A misfit drama in the grand Southern (by way of Hollywood) tradition, A Love Song for Bobby Long takes its cue from Carson McCullers's The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter. Re-establishing his indie-cred, John Travolta adds Bobby Long to his gallery of colorful characters. Hobbled by an infected toe, the 50-something Bobby is a white-haired, unshaven, vodka-soaked mess. But he's also a former English professor, and the piles of books in his ramshackle house, and the authors he drunkenly quotes give him a wounded dignity. Just how wounded will be revealed over the course of this atmospheric tale of redemption and penance. Bobby lives with Lawson Pines (Gabriel Macht), his former teaching assistant who is writing a book about his mentor, a project deferred by drinking, sitting around with the locals, or engaging in quotation oneupsmanship. Scarlett Johansson (Lost in Translation, Ghost World) holds her own against Travolta ("You are such a shameless ham," she chastises the loquacious Bobby) as Pursy, the estranged daughter of Lorraine, a recently deceased singer-songwriter in whose house Bobby and Lawson reside. A battle of wills between the two men and the headstrong young girl gives way to the formation of a tentative family unit. Pursy agrees to return to high school if Bobby and Lawson quit drinking. There will be the expected revelations, recriminations, and dramatic confrontations, but what makes this Love Songresonate are the performances by a cast that rarely hits a false note. --Donald Liebenson
Customer Reviews:
Quite a Love Song for Bobby Long.......2007-03-30
I loved this film! Some critics knock the movie for using some clichés and there are some aspects of New Orleans in particular that are romanticized. Romanticism aside, the cinematography is beautiful and the film features many of New Orleans great attractions such as the Café du Monde, the old mansions of the garden district, and the dreamy Audubon Park. Of course, what is New Orleans without music? The soundtrack is a wonderful mix of jazz and twangy southern blues that is nicely incorporated into the plot. If that doesn't do it the acting alone makes the film worth seeing. The script is well-written, and the actors do a good job of making it seem spontaneous and real. I never felt like they were reading from a script. John Travolta's performance as the washed-up Bobby Long, an alcoholic former English professor who reminisces about his glory days is magnificent and one of his better performances. Gabriel Macht, plays Lawson Pines, the brilliant, guilt-ridden writer who can't seem to write anything good. Macht, best known for independent films, is one of the better kept secrets of the film world. His allegiance to Bobby is touching and also leaves you wondering, "Why?" His performance is very well done. Scarlett Johansson who plays Pursy Will completes the package and is the powerhouse of the film, but does so without overshadowing the other cast members. Her portrayal of a lonely, strong-willed young woman who reminds her two has-been roommates that they are still alive and capable of much more than drunken lechery is superb and believable. Overall, I think the film is very well done and entertaining. It is a story that highlights many human frailties and struggles and it demonstrates that redemption can be found through friendship and family in the most unlikely places.
SLOW AND STEADY .......2007-03-28
I do love exciting cliff-hanger types of movies, but I also love character studies and marvelous acting. That's what A Love Song For Bobby Long is all about!
If you're an adrenilin junkie, you probably should pass. But if you like a solid cast and a quirky but solid story, try this movie!
Better than you've heard.......2007-03-26
Damaged characters in NOLA. Before Katrina. Makes it even more interesting than anticipated. Travolta works well. Worth a look.
Great New Orleans Film.......2007-03-08
This is a must-see movie if you are from New Orleans, or if you like New Orleans. It has been much underappreciated, but it is a wonderful story with interesting characters and lessons. The scenes of New Orleans stray from the typical Hollywood shots of Bourbon Street, and include many scences shot in Old Gretna on the West Bank of the Mississippi, a few French Quarter scenes, nice shots of the river and the Crescent City Connection (during the time when it was being stripped of its lead-based paint and repainted), views of New Orleans from the levee in Old Gretna, the most beautiful tree in New Orleans (the ancient sprawling oak tree in Audubon Park- the one hidden to the left of the zoo), and more. The music is great and really carries the movie from one point to the next.
Worth watching........2007-02-12
A good "slice of life" type flic. Gritty, sensitive, intelligent characters. Great photography, good audio FX, good soundtrack.
