Before I discovered Karen Voight's Great Weighted Workout, I considered this my go-to video for strength training. It's still a good basic weighted workout for days when I'm strapped for time or don't want to sweat too much.

This workout hits about every spot on the body. The video is not very flashy, but it's easy to follow and she makes sure you do the exercises properly. If you are short on time, you can just work on one part of your body. If you have an hour, you can go through the whole thing. I'm doing this workout about once or twice a week, and I've seen a lot of improvement.

I'm not one to go to the gym, or in some great shape by any means. But I know that lifting weights is the way to burn fat. And that is what I was looking for when I purchased this DVD.The DVD is easy enought for a beginner like myself and also shows a more advanced version also. I like the fact that there is a upper body and a lower body, which are separate. So if you dont have the time to do both, you can get one done in 20 minutes. It took me a couple of times to get the moves.. but I did, I definetly recommend it.

I liked the tape and this one has a short warm-up that the first one doesn't. It's not as strenuous as the first, but good for a novice. I probably wouldn't buy this again, but since I have it I'll use it on off days.

I bought this and volume 1, and I love them both. It's a 40 minute full body workout or two 20 minute (upper and lower body) workouts. I like lifting and having instruction from Kathy, makes me try harder, than when I lift on my own. She keeps you moving, so it raises your heart rate too.

I bought this DVD for my mom for Christmas, but I feel like I've been exercising more with Kathy than she has. I love this DVD, she is so much fun! Kathy is your cheerleader, and she wants you to keep up with her. After 2 days, I was sore EVERYWHERE. I thought I was going to die! Honestly, I really thought, this was going to be another one of those, I won't ever do this again and quit now type of exercise videos, but strangely, I went back on it and popped it back into the DVD player. I love how she works with you and tells you to go past your limits. She does not take breaks in between, except for 2 stretching pauses. I have been doing this for 3 weeks, 5 days a week, and I see results already. I love the 7 minute ab workout in the end, and I see results from that, too. Muscles are tighter and I feel more energized. My metabolism is getting back up again. DO NOT quit in the middle. Just go for it! She's a lot of fun and stick with it. Definitely worth the money!

This one is like watching a home video of someone you know personally. Although I don't agree with (or condone) much of what Niecy does, I can most definitely understand her making the decisions she made. Just watching the relationship between her and her mother made things easier to relate to.

Often times, it's the very same people that hold you to unobtainable standards, that push you to do emorale and/or illegal things in the first place. It's the unspoken words that sometimes hold the heaviest weight.

Without giving away any plot destroying information, I would like to say that this film proves that there are those out there on the wrong path that can, and will be able to turn their lives around for the better...

As always, Kerry Washington gives a brilliant performance.

If I never see another film, my thirst for sincere and captivating performances will be quenched by the shining Ms. Washington and the amazing Barbara Montgomery. This film, despite its rather gloomy setting, is eventually all about redemption and hope. The stories of those in Lift are noble, real narratives about love, courage, and transformations. I loved seeing Kerry Washington running so fast in this movie and she was pregnant and not wearing running shoes.

Love, theft, and the choices that make or break a life........2004-02-17

Just like life, every character in this movie has flaws... including the intelligent and clean-cut main character who's shoplifting big-ticket items even though she has a nice job. Her mother requests an expensive necklace, which will require a jewelry store heist to acquire. She decides to go ahead with the robbery, although her boyfriend begs her not to do it. To complicate things, she then learns that she is pregnant. Is she willing to risk everything to please her selfish mother? This movie gets into the psyche of each character, which is really the reason I loved watching it. It's not about stealing as much as it is about family, forgiveness and love.

A Really Cute DVD - a review of "Bob the Builder - Dig! Lift! Haul!".......2006-12-01

This is a cute BTB DVD that has not only the regulars (Bob, Wendy, Spud, and the Crew) but many of the other favorite characters including Farmer Pickles, Mr. Beasley, and that tea making Mrs. Potts. There is also Scruffty the dog, and some adorable mice and bunnies!

In the first story, "Scruffty's Big Dig", Scruffty the dog manages to fall into a bunny hole and get stuck. Muck passes by and gets spooked by Scruffty's howling, but it all works out in the end when Bob and the crew solve the mystery and save Scruffty.

The second story, "Bob's Boots", has Bob breaking in new boots. The boots squeak and attract mice, which as we all know Lofty does not like. Lofty ends up running for home, followed by Bob, followed by the mice -- which Bob doesn't realize are there. Bob thinks Lofty is imagining that there are mice. All of this in interweaved with a sub-plot wherein Spud takes Bob's lunch by accident. The mice end up chasing Spud because he gave them some crumbs.

In the third story, "Mr. Beasley's Do-It-Yourself Disaster", Bob is hired to build a garden shed, while Wendy is busy painting Mrs. Pott's fence. Chaos ensues when Bob gets diverted from the shed work to do a quick roof repair for Mr. Dixon. Bob and Wendy keep missing one another; and Mr. Beasley begins the project himself, working under the misguided notion that he can use tools.

Wendy shows up to wonder what is wrong with Bob that the structure looks so crooked. She repairs it and it's actually pretty funny when Bob and Mr. Beasley actually think Mr. B did the work.

The fourth story, "Spud Lends A Hand", is about the installation of a sprinkler system for Farmer Pickles. Everything goes fine until Spud 'lends a hand' and advises the crew on how to finish the installation of a rain-tank. Chaos results when Spud ends up giving advice to the Lofty and the guys. The tank breaks loose and not only rolls down hill, but destroys Wendy's gift which is a sailboat. Bob ends up saving the day when he takes the remains of Wendy's sail boat and turns it into a motor boat.

The final story is "Dizzy's Crazy Paving". It's my favorite because it has Wendy in a 'if you have lemons, make lemonade' kind of situation. Mrs. Pott's wants a new sidewalk and everything starts out fine until too much fooling around leaves the square pavers that they were going to use, broken up. Wendy solves the problem by making a sort of crazy quilt sidewalk with the colorful tiles.

The stories are linked by the mischief, humor, and creativity.

Five Stars (for a Bob the Builder DVD). Five classic Bob stories on this one. My son loves this DVD and can watch it over and over. Sometimes he will focus on what Bob is doing, and other times the equipment, and yet other times the little animals that in the stories: bunnies, dog, cat, bird, mice. Great fair for rainy days.

This is a gem of a movie about the courageous Berlin Airlift during 1948-1949 by the [American] Military Air Transport Command...Alfred Newman's uplifting music sets you up immediately and it is heard throughout the film...it has a different twist of characters as a multitude of United States Air Force personnel perform real life roles like professional thespians ; beyond that the theme, sights and the tenor of the times illuminate among the ghastly ruins of a defeated Nazi Germany...the principle cast: Montgomery Clift-Paul Douglas-Cornell Borchers-Bruni Lobel and O. E. Hasse [the latter 3 are all excellent German performers] all are very convincing in postwar deprivations that cast a very somber tableau of what happens when a country losses a war...in between all this, there is a moral to this picure show...a basic human moral that is reserved for the ending...I'm sure you'll get alot out of "The Big Lift"...God bless all of our US Air Force who perservered to bring, "Operation Vittles" to a glorious conclusion against persistent and negative Russian interference....how can you go wrong for $0.01??.....SSGT CHRIS SARNO-USMC FMF

Problems.......2006-11-10

I received the first copy and found a defect. At approximately one hour and a minute or so the picture disappeared and was replaced with a color pattern such as found when the station checks the color. After I fast forwarded it till the picture continued. At that point I rewound it till I was close the that place where it stopped and found that the defective area wss about a minute long. I asked for and received a second copy and found the same problem. Apparently the problem may be in an entire lot that was purchased. I plan on asking a freind to try on another machine, and if the condition is still there I will return the two copies that I received.

Overlong but oddly compelling historical drama.......2006-05-04

The most interesting aspect of this little-known film is that it is a time capsule of the actual events surrounding the American Post War effort to assist war torn Germans. Clift delivers a top notch and earnest performance, with Paul Douglas turning in an energetic supporting part. A corny and overlong soap opera plot interweaves real news footage and utilizes real locations. Real military personnel appear in the bit parts. It is Clift's deft work, amid the true-to-life presentations that make this a noteworthy and watchable movie for history buffs. A special feature would have been nice to further explore this period in US history.

What a fine, undiscovered film this is. Post-war Germany as a background........2005-08-31

The 'Big Lift' is about the famous post-war Berlin Airlift. It is photographed quite nicely with dramatic shots of the landing aircraft skimming over apartment houses as they land. Montgomery Clift is terrific as a sensitive American Pilot dealing with life and his love for a beautiful, scheming German woman in post-war devastated Germany. Paul Douglas as a gruff, Technical Sargeant who wants nothing to do with the Germans is excellent. He has a fairly interesting running dialogue with his German girlfriend about "what this democracy business is all about." Cornell Borchers is quite fetching as the object of Clift's attention. Saw this movie on AMC the other morning and I was shocked by how good it was, I had never heard of 'The Big Lift', and I pride myself on knowing a lot about films.-------Besides the fine script and acting, what is riviting about this film is the setting. This film was shot in Germany (mainly Berlin) in 1949. It is really something to see the destruction of this great city from ground level, it's a interesting film just to watch the background scenery. Much like 'The Third Man' is made a better movie by filming in the real post-war Vienna, this film as well is made much more intesting by its location. Truly an undiscovered gem.

Another marvelous Monty movie..........2004-12-16

Having had a crush on Montgomery Clift since my teens, I have seen every movie he made during his short life. My favorite is Red River, but The Big Lift has just entered my heart. Monty is such the romantic. With his dark hair, thin frame, and piercing eyes he makes you want to hug and protect him.

He is vulnerable in this film to a German woman looking to escape Berlin to be with her lover in St. Louis. She charms Monty into wanting to marry her and take her to the USA. In the end, when he discovers her affections are for another, he is crushed, as was I. You just don't take advantage of Monty that way! I was glad to see everyone turn their backs on her.

The military footage, plane sequences, and constant reiteration of the difference between Democray and Communism is to be expected as this is a wartime film. But the real story is about the deception of heart.

I really love this workout DVD. I use it 3-4 times a week. I like the fact that you can design your own workout by pre-choosing what will play. I enjoy doing this and it is not a chore. I would definatly recommend it for anyone wanting to do weight lifting.

I am really enjoying this DVD! I'm one of those people who buy exercise videos and never use them. I think I will use this one a lot. It is mostly weights so you can get results without all of the jumping around. I have had it about a month and I am feeling MUCH stronger and firmer. It's simple to follow and you can increase weight as you feel ready.
