    4 out of 5 stars action packed.......2007-01-12

Although some the films viewed had some pure quality I am well satified with them ,so I have ordered 4 other 50 packed movies from Amazon and still waitng to arrive by post. I have been buying from Amazon for the last four months and to date i can recommend readers to buy from Amazon because they are safe realable thanks keep it up John Fenech
    from Malta.

2 out of 5 stars Adequate quality, one classic, some nuggests........2006-12-26

Classics is less applicable here than in most of the other entries in this 50 movie pack series. However, the quality of sound and pictures is adequate, equal to what one expected to see in the early days of television when studios were still withholding their films from the competitive medium. For one interested in the history of film, the Doug Fairbanks (Sr) films are both enjoyable and neceesary viewing, as would be the Brix Tarzan, the Margaret Lockwood/Boris Karloff, British Intelligence, and a few others.
Probably the Sacco-Vanzetti case does not resonate with younger viewers but for those still moved by it, the film version of Maxwell Anderson's, Winterset, is a nostalgic classic, starring Burgess Meredith and Margo, from the original stage production.
For those with relatively limited funds, I would advise steering clear of this oneand spending your money on some of the other 50 packs which offer more meat and less filler. For those whose budget is not stringent, there are a sufficent number of films worth viewing to justify the expenditure if one can get it at the discounted price available from some of the Amazon associated sellers. I paid $12.59, including shipping charges, which makes me comfortable with the inadequacies of the set.

    1 out of 5 stars false advertising.......2006-12-13

I ordered this movie pack specifically to watch the movie Manhunt, aka From Hell to Texas, with Don Murray, Chill Wills, and Dennis Hopper. Despite the fact the product says this is the movie on the DVD, it is in fact not. There is some goofy C grade movie in its place with no explanation.

I would not recommed this product.

I bought these movies for my dad for fathers day..he got them on time and told me he will be watching forever..He said they were good quality movies so I am happy because he is..thank you

5 out of 5 stars 50 Westerns of Public Domain Goodness.......2007-05-03

Gunslingers is a collection of 50 westerns that have only one thing in common: they are all public domain and as such it is possible for them to be presented in highly affordable collections. I paid $24.99 for my set and that comes down to about 50 cents per movie. The way that movie tickets cost nowadays, you really cannot complain about this collection.

This deal is even better when you consider that many of the movies in this collection are available as individual movie DVD's at prices of $5 and higher. Many of the movies in this collection are presented in better condition than they are from other DVD companies.

Additionally, some of these movies are of such quality and/or proven audience appeal you just have to wonder just why the movie studios did not renew their copyrights. Chief among these are God's Gun with Lee Van Cleef and the parody classic They Call Me Trinity starring Terence Hill & Bud Spencer.

All in all, a great deal for the money.

    3 out of 5 stars On a 1 to 10 scale, this collection rates : 5.3.......2007-04-01

GUNSLINGERS 50 MOVIE PACK has 16 mostly European-made films and 18 hour-length oaters by Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Bob Steele and John Wayne. The balance of these public domain titles are lesser-known theatrical and made-for-TV movies. This nicely assembled MILL CREEK ENTERTAINMENT box set is one that any fan of cowboy flicks will surely find a real bargain! And for even more great western action, don't miss the WESTERN CLASSICS 100 MOVIE PACK. It's the ultimate in range-ridin' action.

The 1 to 10 average rating on GUNSLINGERS 50 MOVIE PACK (based on web-polling) is 5.3.

    1 out of 5 stars Disappointed nevertheless........2007-01-05

What do you expect for the price? Looks like someone put a video camera on the screen when these movies were showing. Poor scratchy film reproduction and muffled sound. But entertaining anyway. I'll give it a ***** for quantity; * for quality.

4 out of 5 stars not the best transfers, but for 40 to 50cents per movie a good deal.......2006-04-20

i own many of these 50 movie packs and yes the transfers are not always good but they are all watchable and when you figure out that the price is 40 to 50cents a movie what's there to cry about.
there are some good, bad, and to finish the pun, ugly movies in this collection. like i said i have enjoyed them and they are kid friendly for the most part and can help you build a nice collection of b thru z grade westerns

4 out of 5 stars no oscar winners here but some good old westerns.......2006-01-03

i have reviewed many of these sets and i still marvael at the number of people who think that these sets are going to be great transfers. if thats what you are looking for keep looking! if you want to build your dvd collection and see some great old b thru z grade westerns, give it a try. my copies are not that bad , or maybe i'm just not as pickey as some. as always for the price it's a good deal. and i watch these films with my young children and they love them, so at least there child friendly, and they do what they were made to do,they enterain you,so give them a try.

5 out of 5 stars An excellent sampling of Bronson's Cannon era........2004-03-28

During his winter years in the 80s, international action star Charles Bronson made movie after movie for the maligned Cannon Group Inc, the production company run by Menachem Golan and Yoram Globus. Cannon got its start making (and did quite well with) exploitation pictures and just about every one of Bronson's films for them has the flavor of grindhouse exploitation cinema in the mix. But that does not mean the movies are plain bad, or so bad they're good, far from it. While Bronson did make some clunkers (Death Wish 2 in my opinion) and a few cult classics perfect for the MST3K treatment (Death Wish 3), some of his Cannon pictures are quite good. The quite good ones were usually directed by J. Lee Thompson. This box set gathers together the Bronson/Thompson team ups, with the exception of Death Wish 4: The Crackdown. All feature widescreen anamorphic transfers, again with the exception of the not included Death Wish 4: The Crackdown. Each movie is a solid piece of entertainment where Bronson did not simply phone in an embarrassed and wooden performance. Odd trivia: the cover of the box set uses an image for Death Wish 4, did I mention it's not inlucded in this set?

10 TO MIDNIGHT (1984): Was the first thriller Thompson and Bronson worked on for Cannon (the two had previously teamed on The Evil That Men Do and, I believe, The White Buffalo) and its one of the best. Bronson plays a cop (a standard role for him when he wasn't replaying Paul Kersey in Death Wish sequel after Death Wish sequel) who matches wits with a cunning serial killer. Gene Davis plays the killer with a bemused and arrogant indifference that might appear wooden, until his mask of control slips. Andrew Stevens is Bronson's book smart partner and the lovely Lisa Eilbacher plays Bronson's estranged daughter (obviously she got her looks from her mother). Bronson grows desperate when his emotional investigation puts his daughter at risk. The characters and mind games are well set up in the script, but it degenerates into a slasher movie in the final reel. Nonetheless, it's a solidly crafted thriller.

MURPHY'S LAW (1986): Bronson is a cop (again) who is dealing with his wife's leaving him by hiding in a bottle of booze. When he is framed for her murder, he escapes (with foul mouthed girl-woman Kathleen Wilhoite shackled to his wrist) to find the real killer. Gail Morgan Hickman's script (she also wrote Death Wish 4: The Crackdown and the story for the third Dirty Harry movie, The Enforcer) won't win any awards, but the story places enough obstacles in Bronson and Wilhoite's path to keep the yarn from getting boring.

MESSENGER OF DEATH (1988): This is a real change of pace for Bronson. He plays an investigative reporter trying to get to the bottom of a mass murder that, at first, seems to be result of a venom filled blood feud between two fundalmentalist Mormon brothers. The mystery gets the emphasis over the action (though there is enough of that to keep it from getting boring) and only a rushed conclusion keeps it from being more than a tad above average.

KINJITE: FORBIDDEN SUBJECTS (1989): This was last movie from the Bronson/Thompson/Cannon team and it's the weakest. Bronson is a vice cop slowly cracking from the pressures of dealing with the sleaze soaked Job. His obsessive hunt for a particular pimp named Duke is hampered by things like due process and his teenaged daughter getting groped in a crowded bus. What he does not know is that the father of the child kidnapped by Duke is the same man who felt his daughter up on the bus! The unpleasant subject matter (molestation and child prostitution) just isn't mixed well with the standard plot. It isn't there to make commentary about the characters, it's there to either titilate or shock. The script needed a little more work ironing out those story problems to really cook.

Any fan of Bronson or Cannon or both (they're out there, I should know, I am one of them) will want this collection, as it pretty much puts the best of Bronson's Cannon years in one box. Recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Finally on DVD. Go Get them !.......2003-02-28

All 4 films are directed by J. Lee Thompson. All films won't win any awards for any categories but all 4 are fun films especially for Bronson fans.

10 to Midnight from 1983 : Bronson tracks serial killer (co-stars Andrew Stevens)

Murphy's Law: Bronson is up against corrupt police force

Messenger of death: Bronson as Denver reporter up against nasty developer

Kinjite: Bronson Vs. child prostitution ring

All 4 are in wide screen anamorphic which has good picture. The sound quality is so-so (10 to midnight and Murphy's law are mono) but overall this is one box set to get for Bronson fans. Highly recommended and hopefully someone will be releasing Death Wish 2, 3, and 4.

5 out of 5 stars Return of the vigilante senior citizen..........2003-01-31

At long last, Charles Bronson comes to DVD. Forget the people that tell you his best movies are 'The Magnificent Seven', 'The Great Escape', or even 'Death Wish'. For me, and countless other film-literate fans, his J Lee Thompson 80's output is the best.

    This box set features:

Murphy's Law: Bronson teams up with a young female hoodlum to stop a maniac, the mafia, AND corrupt cops. Guess who wins...

10 to Midnight: Bronson manages to deliver justice to a serial killer who likes 80's soft-rock.

Messenger of Death: Bronson plays a reporter who teaches a lesson to greedy child-murdering land-developers.

Kinjite, Forbidden Subjects: Charlie displays his love for everything Japanese, in this bittersweet tale of a father's love, cultural exchange, and (surprise) vigilante justice.

All in all, a classic load of Bronson-style brutality, all delivered in pristine anamorphic widescreen, with original trailers, and trendy new artwork. Don't expect realism, just expect 100% old-age action. Classic stuff!!!

      Product Description

Part 1: In this explosive story of revenge and urban violence, Charles Bronson plays Paul Kersey, a bleeding-heart liberal who has a change of opinion after his wife and daughter are violently attacked by a gang of thugs in their apartment. His daughter is raped, his wife raped and murdered. Bronson then turns vigilante as he stalks the mean streets of New York on the prowl for muggers, hoodlums and the like. A violent, controversial film which is frank and original in its treatment of urban crime and the average citizen's helplessness in dealing with it. ~~~~~~~ Part 2: Charles Bronson returns with a vengeance in this sequel to the popular crime thriller DEATH WISH. Bronson reprises his role as vigilante Paul Kersey, whose family is once again victimized after moving to Los Angeles from New York. Kersey is mugged by a gang of street punks who later break into his home and brutally assault his maid and daughter, resulting in their deaths. ~~~~~~~ Part 3: Paul Kersey has moved from LA to New York City to escape the crime and begin anew. But after an dear friend is murdered, the architect-turned-vigilante begins to deliver his own inimitable kind of street justice. The rugged Mr. Bronson is back again as Paul Kersey, the Korean War vet who loves to lure street thugs to surprise endings. ~~~~~~~ Part 4: When his girlfriend's daughter overdoses on toxic "crack," vigilante Paul Kersey explodes into action in an all-out war to exterminate the cocaine network in L.A. ~~~~~~~ Part 5: Aging ex-vigilante Paul Kersey has made a quiet life for himself: he's now a teacher, and engaged to a lovely woman, Olivia. But when Olivia's clothing business is menaced by mobsters -- led by her sadistic ex-husband -- Paul reverts to his old gun-totin', thug-wastin' tendencies, as he attempts to deliver his own brand of justice in a variety of grisly ways.
