This 1981 Chuck Norris movie straddles the transition from the gritty police dramas of the '70s (like The French Connection and Serpico) to the heroic revenge fantasies of the '80s (like Sylvester Stallone's Rambo movies). Norris plays reckless cop Sean Kane; after Kane's partner is killed in suspicious circumstances, Kane turns in his badge. When his partner's newscaster wife gets killed after turning up some crucial evidence, her father, who is Kane's teacher in the martial arts, teams up with Kane to track down the criminals responsible. An Eye for an Eye gets a substantial lift from head villain Christopher Lee's silky, effortless menace, as well as from Richard Roundtree as a hardnosed police captain. The early scenes of tension and suspense are surprisingly textured; the rest of the movie features a lot of impressive high kicks. --Bret Fetzer

The folks at Pixar can do no wrong with Monsters, Inc., the studio's fourth feature film, which stretches the computer animation format in terms of both technical complexity and emotional impact. The giant, blue-furred James P. "Sulley" Sullivan (wonderfully voiced by John Goodman) is a scare-monster extraordinaire in the hidden world of Monstropolis, where the scaring of kids is an imperative in order to keep the entire city running. Beyond the competition to be the best at the business, Sullivan and his assistant, the one-eyed Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal), discover what happens when the real world interacts with theirs in the form of a 2-year-old baby girl dubbed "Boo," who accidentally sneaks into the monster world with Sulley one night. Director Pete Doctor and codirectors David Silverman and Lee Unkrich follow the Pixar (Toy Story) blueprint with an imaginative scenario, fun characters, and ace comic timing. By the last heart-tugging shot, kids may never look at monsters the same, nor artists at what computer animation can do in the hands of magicians. --Doug Thomas
Description
From the Academy Award(R)-winning creators of TOY STORY comes the computer-animated film that captured the hearts of fans and critics everywhere. MONSTERS, INC., is "visually dazzling, action-packed, and hilarious" (Boston Herald), featuring groundbreaking animation, imaginative storytelling, and unforgettable voice talent. John Goodman stars as the lovable James P. Sullivan (Sulley) and Billy Crystal as his wisecracking best friend, Mike Wazowski. Top scarer Sulley and his enthusiastic Scare Assistant Mike work at Monsters, Inc., the largest scream-processing factory in Monstropolis. The main power source of the monster world is the collected screams of human children. Monsters believe children are dangerous and toxic, however, and they are scared silly when a little girl wanders into their world. Sulley and Mike do their best to return the girl home, but they face monstrous intrigue and some hilarious misadventures along the way. MONSTERS, INC., is "supremely clever -- fun for kids and adults alike" (CBS-TV). Treat yourself to the most entertaining movie of the year with all-new exclusive bonus features and animation for monster laughs and monster fun.

Wish there were a sequel!.......2007-06-28
It was that good! Unfortunately they didn't leave a door open for a sequel. Great story about the Monsters all little kids fear in their bed at night, and their interaction with those kids. It gives you the persepective from the other side of your closet door where the Monsters live. The characters are very lovable. Great, great comedy sequences, you will be laughing out loud! Unique story line. "Loving" out-come. Enjoy!
WOW!! What a great movie.. This movie should live on FOREVER!!!.......2007-06-22
This movie was great and it was really enjoyable and funny. I have had this movie since it came out as I went to see it in the movie theater. This would be my favorite movie of all time. Sulley(James P. Sullivan) and Mike Wazowski (the main characters of this movie) are my favorite characters in this movie and are my two favorite characters in any movie. Randall Boggs would be my third favorite character in the movie because he makes me LAUGH!! But he gets destroyed into a trailor during my favorite part of the movie which is when Mike and Sulley are hanging or flying on doors to try to get Boo home. Boo is my least favorite character in this movie because she CRIES a lot during the movie and just not my favorite. Celia, who Mike is in love with isn't all that great too. But I think Roz is great. She makes me laugh when she tells Mike that he didn't turn in his paperwork. and Mr. Waternoose would be my 5th and last most favorite character in this movie till he gets arrested by the CDA. Also, the part where Mike and Sulley go to Himalayas is great because they're in a BLIZZARD!! The worst part of the movie is when Sulley and Mike take Boo home that's when I feel to cry. But overall, this is a really great movie which I wish I could give this 10 stars. Please get this movie but Shrek s$cked!!!
Best film of the year.
Power-ful Kiddie Entertainment.......2007-06-21
Some of the best stories for children have presented their worst fears only to have the menace brought down to size. "Jack and the Beanstalk" works that way perfectly. 'Monsters, Inc.' helps to tuck the kiddies in and give them the giggles, too. Taking near day-glow colors, the Monsters in this fluid Pixar picture are hideously cute. They live in a "green" world where the renewable resource of children's fright powers the Monster community. Looking like the sorts in (Lucas Films, Ltd. is credited here) a 'Star Wars' bar scene, the film's focus is on the power company where the employees go through magic doors, their portals to children's bedrooms where the fright factor generates their power plant.
Heading the troops is big blue "Sully" (John Goodman) a good natured monster, proud of his ability to be the equivalent of "Employee of the Month". Keeping track of his generating power, he is out to set a plant record. His green, one-eyed sidekick, Mike Wazowski, (Billy Crystal) has a Martian appearance, but his voice couldn't scare a mouse. He is smitten by one-eyed purple princess, Shroopsy with hydra hair (snake braids). They all face their competition with rascally Randall, (perfectly villainous, Steve Buscemi) the salamander-like monster with invisible capabilities. Pivotal to the plot is Mr. Waternoose, (James Coburn) a tycoon who resembles a tarantula in a three-piece suit. In the causality is 'Silkwood'-like contamination if any child or remnant remains in the Monster world. (In other words: Just like parents often say about insects or some animals: "They're more afraid of [children], than [they] are of them.") Sully and James come across "Boo" whom they find in their best interests to return to the dark realm of her own bedroom.
Formidable to the fore, 'Monsters,..." takes a premise that could have been a dumb non-starter, and provides supporting plot structures with enough heft to turn the adventure on. With Pixar animation, the movement is flowing enough to take the technological edge off the look, and Andrew Stanton and Daniel Gerson's screenplay keep the dialogue fresh and funny. Director Pete Docter gives the movie proper assembly. 'Monsters, Inc.' is therapeutically good for children's dreamscapes as well as their funny bones. (Highly recommended to rent and to own.)
Pixar Created A Classic!.......2007-06-14
Monsters Inc is a great piece that your family will love! Loveable monsters are brought to life and make you laugh a lot! Laughter is more powerful than screams you know. A loveable classic for any collection!
Great movie.......2007-06-13
Hey it's Mike,
Wow!! What a great movie this is. This is by far my favorite movie due to the presence of Mike and Sulley. There is not a lot of great movies out there, but this one is one of the very best!! Sulley, Mike, Randall, Roz, and Waternoose are all great characters and 3 of them are really funny! Boo and Celia are my two least favorite characters in the film. The best part of this movie is the Flying on Doors part where Randall gets destroyed.
The end is the saddest part of the movie when Sulley and Mike take Boo home.
Well this movie is the best as I wish that I can give this much more than 5 stars like a million stars. Please buy.

Eye of the Needle is a superbly effective World War II spy thriller from the Ken Follett bestseller of the same name. Donald Sutherland is "the Needle," a German spy in England bearing critical information on Allied invasion plans that he must deliver personally to the Führer. He's so named because of his preferred method of assassination, the stiletto. As played by Sutherland, he's a coldly calculating psychopath, emotionlessly focused on the task at hand, whether the task is to signal a U-boat or to gut a witness to avoid exposure. On his way back to Germany, a fierce storm strands him on an island, occupied only by a woman (Kate Nelligan), her disabled husband, and the lighthouse keeper. A romance of sorts develops between the woman and the spy, due to an estrangement of affections between the woman and her husband, whose accident has rendered him emotionally crippled as well. Much of the suspense of the latter half of the movie has to do with this romance, and the way it begins to reveal the Needle's motivations and whether there's a sympathetic personality buried somewhere inside him, though he remains by-and-large tantalizingly enigmatic. Early on, we discover that he may not enjoy the hand life has dealt him. When a courier asks him about the way he lives, and "What else can one do?" the Needle answers, "One can just stop." But as the film makes amply clear in its final third, one doesn't stop, does one? The direction by Richard Marquand (known primarily for thrillers such as this one and Jagged Edge, although he also did Return of the Jedi) is crisply done, boasting numerous suspenseful episodes, including a deadly encounter between Sutherland and the disabled husband, which is jaw-droppingly surprising. --Jim Gay

Customer Reviews:
Eye of The Needle.......2007-05-07
One of the best WWII Spy novels, made into a great with outstanding performances by Donald Sutherland and Kate Nelligan. Worth the price of purchasing, especially if you like this type of movie. Donald Sutherland does an excellent job of portraying a German Agent living in England during World war II, although his nemsis, a former student turned soldier does a rather poor imitation of a self righteous person bent on identifying his former teacher for Scotland Yard. It is predictable what is going to happen to him.Eye of the Needle
Canny World War II Spy Story.......2007-05-05
1981's "Eye of the Needle," a canny World War II spy drama, is another of the good romantic thrillers made in the 80's. It's based on a novel by Ken Follett, with screenplay by Stanley Mann. It stars the Canadians Kate Nelligan and Donald Sutherland, at the head of an excellent British cast; and it boasts a stunning musical score by Miklos Rosza, his last, that undoubtedly contributes to the film's moods. It was made on location in London and Scotland, features quite beautiful cinematography by Alan Hulme, and was ably directed by Richard Marquand.
The film opens at a critical point in the ongoing war. It deals with the so-called "Henry Faber," important German spy dubbed "The Needle" at home for his favorite way of despatching people, by stiletto (Sutherland). We find him in place in a railway yard, a useful place for him to be, until Hitler personally assigns him to double check the impending Allied plans to invade mainland Europe. This assignment will bring him eventually to isolated Storm Island, off Scotland's coast, where he will meet David, legless former air pilot (Christopher Cazenove), and his unhappy wife Lucy (Nelligan). It quickly becomes a romantic triangle. The affair between Sutherland and Nelligan is a mature, passionate, sexy one: the film has placed Sutherland's age at 40, and Nelligan has been given a son.
Sutherland gives a creepily forceful performance as The Needle, although his accent sometimes wavers. Nelligan gives one of her trademark big, intense performances: it seems to me she was once tipped as Hollywood's next big female star, and it never happened, for reasons unknown to me. But she really carries this picture. Cazenove is surprisingly good as the embittered former flyboy. Ian Banner turns in his usual fine performance as chief spy sweeper. Rupert Fraser makes the most of his one scene as Muller. And, in a very small part at the end, we see Bill Nighy, who has suddenly, recently, become a star at an age when a lot of burnt-out stars are selling real estate.
When you think of it though, The Needle and Lucy must inevitably clash; just the two of them on the tiny island. Mind you, patriotism's all very well, but I consider this film more a good illustration of the age-old fact that women are more fixed in place than are men. The Needle, as a spy, is, by definition, a long way from home. But Lucy owns a farm, and has a son who will someday expect to inherit. She doesn't have the option of, say, running off to Germany with Faber. In fact, this exact same situation underlies the Harrison Ford-Kelly McGillis relationship in the powerful romantic thriller "Witness," also from the 80's.
So, as the knockout ending unspools, The Needle tells Lucy, "The War has come down to the two of us... I did what I had to do, it cannot be undone. I'm sorry." But if you enjoy a rich romantic suspense movie, you won't be.
Eye of the Needle.......2007-01-11
A movie, well done, from a era in filmmaking in the past
My highest rating!.......2007-01-06
This is a fine film, tastefully produced, a superior story (WW II suspense/spy thriller), and brilliant performances by the entire cast. My favorite genre is the mystery, epics are next, but I re-watch this DVD with frequency. I'm a huge fan of superior cinematography and this film has it all the way, beautiful color saturation. The filmscore is appropriate to the movie and, really, I can offer not a single negative comment about this work. This DVD is certainly one for your collection, especially if you're into war films or spy thrillers.
Eye of The Needle.......2006-11-04
This is an excellent vehicle for Donald Sutherland and it sticks to the book which is a classic thriller. It has very human characters and holds ones interest to the end.

this is a cute spanish dvd, my daughter seems to enjoy it at the age of 2, but she loves any tv. it's cute to see the spanish versions of sesame street though. i'm sure my daughter will learn a few spanish words.
A hit with daughter.......2007-05-18
My daughter is hypnotized by anything Sesame Street. This Spanish-language version is no different.
Good DVD.......2007-05-16
I bought this DVD for my niece who has moved away from her Spanish speaking grandmother. The first time I played it she sat enthralled: danced, clapped, laughed. She is only 1yr, but it is a great time to keep her introduced to a second language. I watched the video with her and it was just like the sesame street I remember, but it is ALL Spanish. Maybe I'll learn something too.
Another great production from Sesame Street.......2007-04-25
True to form, Plaza Sesamo delivers another entertaining DVD.

Description
A classic science fiction terror thriller about a weird creature from outer space which survives in the rarefied atmosphere of the Swiss Alps and terrorizes scientists in a remote high-altitude research station. This hideous monster hides in the fog-shrouded cloud of mist and kills its victims by decapitation. As the mysterious cloud descends on the Swiss village of Trollenberg, United Nations science investigator Allan Brooks (Forrest Tucker), Professor Crevett (Warren Mitchell) and a young woman with psychic powers (Janet Munro) must find a way to stop the monster's murderous rampage before it's too late.

QUALITY CHEESE HERE!.......2007-05-03
"Wow! What a cool cheese fest! A cool monster and good story for sure!" This movie is much better than the budget allowed for this super cool Sci-Fi flick. Nice transfer to DVD too!
A Taut Little Sci-Fi Thriller.......2007-04-13
Don't be put off by the sensationalist title or the lurid case artwork--"The Crawling Eye" is actually a quite good, if minor, science fiction film.
The decade after the end of World War II produced a bumper crop of the finest science fiction films ever made, many of which remain classics to this day. "The Crawling Eye," released in 1958, certainly does not rank among the top ten of the decade, but it is nonetheless an interesting story told in a reasonably well-made film. The plot is tight, coherent and logically consistent, and the acting of the British and American cast is as good as the typical standards of the day. There are some moments of genuine suspense as scientists race against time to figure out how to fight an unseen murderous force that inhabits a strange radioactive cloud high in the Swiss Alps. The "crawling eye" creatures of the title, when they appear late in the film, are about as good as the special effects technology of the day could make them, complete with tentacles very obviously manipulated by wires suspended from the ceiling of the sound stage.
This DVD is advertised incorrectly as a "Widescreen European Edition"--it is actually full-frame format. It is "European" only in its title, "The Trollenberg Terror," as it was released in Europe, and the obligatory British Board of Film Censors "X" rating before the opening credits. The black-and-white transfer is crisp, sharp and contrasty, but overall the film is marred slightly by what seems to be more than the usual amount of dust, scratches, hairs and other defects. The only extras are a grand total of three count 'em three still photos and an extremely poor-quality trailer.
At this low price, "The Crawling Eye" is hard to pass up. You'll definitely get your money's worth if you have any interest at all in science fiction films of the '50's.
Chilling terror.......2007-01-17
In the style of 'you don't see the monster until it's too late', this is a very chilling setup. Adapted from 'The Trollenberg Terror', everything takes place on a lonely mountain far from help. The monsters are never seen until the end, only spoken of. You see the effects long before you see them.
Look for Forrest Tucker (of 'F Troop' fame) in the lead.
And for the Adults, look for a scene involving a couch and a woman bent over that, incredibly, escaped the notice of the censors. 'Nuff said.
Cheesy special effects don't detract from a pretty good "B" Sci-Fi movie.......2006-12-17
"The Crawling Eye" (aka, "The Trollenberg Terror") is a better-than-average low budget sci-fi entry from the late 1950's. As is the norm for many of the classic sci-fi movies of that era, radiation plays an important role in the plot.
In this film, aliens are drawn to the Earth (for some unknown reason) and move mysteriously up and down the Trollenberg Mountain by way of the aforementioned radioactive cloud. The acting led by TV veterans Forrest Tucker and Janet Munro is actually above the norm for a movie with this limited of a budget. The secondary actors are also a little better than expected. The plot moves along nicely and there are few "down" moments in the film.
The only major criticism that I have of the film is that the special effects used to create the aliens is suspect, even for a film in the 50s'.
The viewer is led to believe that the "eye creatures" (consisting of a giant eye and a few tentacles) can easily move around even though they have no visible motoring legs or appear to have the ability to float in the air. I know....what do you expect... George Lucas and his special effects team?
With that being said, fans of sci-fi movies of this era will definitely want to add "The Crawling Eye" to their collection. It's much better than most from this genre'.
Chilling, but..........2006-08-15
This is a surprisingly well-made "low budget" atmospheric film. I first saw it on "Million Dollar Movie" (Channel 9/NYC) in the late 50's (they would show a film all week long and 4-5 times on Sunday!). Janet Munro is superb as the psychic, and Forrest Tucker's usually wooden acting 'style' lends tension to the story line. The acting is first-rate. The only disappointment is the creature's 'reveal'. After such a tense, horrific build-up we finally get to see...well, I'm not going to spoil it, 'cuz it's an entertainingly creepy little hair-raiser, nonetheless.

Whats going on ?.......2007-07-03
Can't understand all the good reviews for this movie, thought it was terrible, watched it a few years ago and seen nearly ever horror/thriller out there and even my wife put it up there at the top of the list of the worst movies I have made her sit through.
Obviously I missed something with all the good reviews it has, I must have fallen asleep halfway through it.
man, this movie is SEW good. get it? get it?.......2007-06-18
this movie has to be in my top 5 films of all time. i'ts much more creepy than one realizes, even while watching it. the scene where May pins a guy's hands to his head with a pair of scissors is not nearly as creepy as when may is amongst people trying her hardest to be accepted. director Lucky McKee, subsequent to this, his first film, has pigeon-holed himself as a horror filmmaker (not that i mind), but i hesitate to call this a horror movie. the first two-thirds of the film show us a cute, sympathetic young girl's forays into romance, and the intricacies of her character that repulse the people who have no interest in understanding them. once May has won our hearts, she is driven over the edge, and while some of the moodiness of the film is lost, we are still with may and empathizing with her plight while her tenuous grasp on reality slips away and she stitches together a franken-friend from her victims. in the last moments of the film, when may is completely withdrawn from the world around her, she finds contentment. the overall impression is of an extremely well-constructed character sketch framed in a highly stylized milieu that makes this film endearing and repulsive at the same time.
Chilling story but dull movie.......2007-06-13
I bought this movie based on its exciting trailer. But I found the movie too slow untill everything happens at the end so fast. Its hard to belive that May can really kill five people so easily in one night and carry around their body parts in one lousy cooler. The movie makes its effort to keep things real in the begining and blows it badly at the end. The movie was definately a disappointment for me.
Talk about "meeting" your perfect mate.......2007-06-06
This is a very odd and twisted story of a girl that is "abused" by her mother and then emotionally abandon by her. It is a story of a socially repressed girl that wants to find someone, but doesn't know how to go about it. When she finally finds someone, she doesn't know how to act or what to say to keep him interested. She is turned down by the guy that she really likes. She is picked up by the receptionist where she works and then falls in love with her. She is then turned down by her as well. What comes from this is very twisted. She decides to make her "perfect mate", from pieces of people that she finds attractive. She sews them together and presto! The perfect mate! This certainly is a horror movie of a different genre. It is acted very well and the story is very orginal. If you liked the twisted and "wierd" type of movies, then I certainly recommend this one!!! You won't forget it!!!
Creepy, but kind of a "fun" creepy!.......2007-04-21
I liked this film. Samantha Adams is somewhat brilliant as poor, demented little May, trying to find love while at the same time escaping the memories of her psychotic mother, represented by the very creepy doll in her possession that has some kind of a psychological hold on her. You can't help but feel somewhat sympathetic to May, at least until she starts her killing spree. Anna Faris is kind of sexy as May's co-worker, Polly, who successfully seduces the girl in a one-night-stand that I actually found quite erotic! Later, May also voices her attraction regarding the legs of Anna's new girlfriend, Ambrosia, played by Nichole Hiltz. While I could never call this a tender love story, it was certainly interesting, and erotic in parts, as well!

Beginning precisely where Rocky left off, the surprisingly effective 1979 sequel takes the saga of Rocky Balboa to its logical next step, as the palooka turned public idol and media darling returns to his "normal" life in Philadelphia with his newlywed bride Adrian (Talia Shire) and some degree of material comfort. He needs to find a job, but boxing champ Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) is challenging Rocky to a lucrative rematch, and despite his doctor's warning against future boxing, Rocky can't resist. Defying the odds that most sequels can't live up to their originals, Rocky II doesn't pack all the punch that Rocky did, but it takes us further into the lives of its now-familiar and beloved characters, and Stallone (as director and star) gives us another rousing finale in the ring. Do you really need to know who wins? --Jeff Shannon

But Rocky, having sustained massive injuries in the bout, announces his retirement. Though he tries to make a new life for himself, Rocky realizes that he can't escape his true calling. The ring beckons once more, and the "Italian Stallion" must prepare for the fight of his life.

The reason I say that is you can't really understand one thing Sylvester Stallone is saying. He sounds like a drunk, Italian thug with down syndrome. But thats actually a good thing because it's really funny. On a serious note, I think this is the best Rocky movie. The first one was also a great movie, but I have always liked this one alittle better. It kept me interested more. You can tell Stallone directed this because Rocky is portrayed as a perfect human being. Which we know there is no such thing as a perfect person. And then he turns around and introduces Apollo Creed, who is always the unhappiest guy in the world. That made this movie alittle to ridiculous and a tad over-the-top. But besides of that, it's still very enjoyable. I have seen Rocky 1, 2, 3, and 4. I was never really a huge fan of the Rocky series, but this movie made the time fly by.
ROCKY II ROCKS!!.......2007-04-16
I have seen Rocky 1 to Rocky 4. So far, this is the best Rocky film. I'm a big fan of baseball, and I watched this movie the night before a game. After watching this film, I was pumped. The sound track is amazing, and you can almost FEEL the tension, FEEL the sweat running down your face, you can feel it, which is why this will always be one of the greatest films ever. I say that, even though I don't like boxing. But after watching the Rocky films, my life has changed. It's a very deep film, not grey at all, and it beats "The Champ" by a long shot. Before you watch this film, you should watch "Rocky" first, but this is a must see, for a lot of people. It's a lot more pumping than the first Rocky though, and that's part of the reason I like t so much...
ROCKO!!!!.......2007-03-22
That's right. In this action packed movie, Rocky gets involved in another rematch against Apollo Creed; the fighter he lost to in Rocky I.
This movie was much more fun for me to watch and enjoy because it had Rock-o's awesome montage, better than the last one. Bill Conti's music is something unbelieveable as he sucks you in the movie as soon as the toon shoots out of the TV's speakers.
Rocky II may be the best of all Rocky movies. I like the fight scene in this flick because it has so much more intensity in it. Towards the end, when the King of Sting (Apollo) and the Italion Stallion (Rocky)decend towards the floor and slowly try to make it back up to stand and win...forget about it! I WENT nuts saying
"Rocky, get up!"
THIS movie is great, just buy it!.
The rematch of a century.......2007-01-23
Two years after the the first Rock came out and was a huge phonimal success wining best picture at the oscar. This exciting sequel came out. The actual fight is only last about twenty minutes. A word of warming this movie has graphic sports violence in for its time with the occasion occasional curse word thrown in ever few minutes. As Rocky II start it has been a few hours after the fight has end. Appolo Creed shocked that rocky went the whole distance with out get knocked out and angery at the judges call demands a rematch. But rocky says he's retiring and giving up fighting. However do to peer pressure and being publicy humilated by Appolo first in a cartoon in the newspaper then later insulted on tv in news brodcast that is seen all over Phildephia Rocky gives in. He goes to speek with Mickey. Who at first refuses to train him but changes his mind after he see Appolo on TV. Rocky trains but does very poorly at first do to pressure from his wife Adrian who does not want him to fight for fear of him going blind or something. Then one day Adrain collapses at work. Due to Andrian over working here self will pregnant to make money because Rocky got cut back from his job working at the meat plant. Any way as a result of over working herself Adrain gives birth permaturally. She looses alot of blood as a result and slips into a comma. Will Andrian pull through and what about the rematch on Thanskgiving will rocky defeat the branwy Appolo Creed. Find out in the heart warming action packed thrilling conclusion. For thoose of you that have kids younger than ten that like Burgess Merdith and are too young too watch Rockey 1 2, 3 and and the flash back scene in Rocky five Burgess Merdith also appeared in the 1978 half hour animated tv Movie Puff the magic dragon where hye played the famous dragon from the song that had been a classic for years. If you like this I also recommend Rockey 3-6.
Rocky 2 a Slow Sequel to Rocky.......2007-01-05
Released in 1979, Rocky II picks up where the original "Rocky' leaves off, the movie beginning with the last round of the first fight with Apollo Creed. This second installment of the 6-part Rocky series is very slow to develop. The audience is made to wait the entire film to see the much-anticipated climax where Creed and Rocky square-off for their long-awaited rematch.
In essence, this film is a remake of the original "Rocky" movie, as it has all the same elements: Rocky courting (and this time marrying) Adrian, Rocky's passionate heart-felt love for Adrian, Rocky getting into fighting shape under the firey guidance of Mickey his trainer, and finally the epic fight against Creed. While the fight with Creed is exciting, the prelude leading up to the fight is at times tedious and overdrawn. So while the film is essentially another "Rocky", it fails to capture the audience's passion like the original.
Bill Conti, the musical genius of the original "Rocky", returns with much of the same upbeat inspiring music, adding a long "Vigil" piece, where Rocky is waiting and praying for his stricken wife, Adrian, to recover from a coma. (Adrian goes into premature labor, gives birth to a son, and lose so much blood, she falls into a deep coma). Conti's "Vigil" is a beautiful and haunting instrumental piece that depicts Rocky at Adrian's bedside, praying at the hospital Chapel, and waiting with trainer Mickey for Adrian to get better. While many viewers will find this tedious, and perhaps outright boring, I found it to be a further character insight into the man, Rocky Balboa. He is about to fight Apollo Creed for the heavyweight championship of the world, and yet, he is ready to give it all up because of his intense loyalty and love for Adrian. His manager, Mickey (played again by the cantankerous Burgess Meredith), begs him to train, but Rocky is so emotionally empty without Adrian, that he cannot possibly leave her side. Adrian finally revives, and Rocky tearfully and tenderly tells her, "I knew you'd come back to me." Despite its corniness, I still found it a touching tear-jerking scene. In gratitude for her revival, Rocky promises Adrian he will give up fighting forever if that will please her. Instead, Adrian tells the Rock the one thing she wants most of all: "Win, win!".
With Adrian behind him, Rocky eagery submits to Mickey's training regimen, and in a replay of the first film, Rocky returns to fighting shape while Conti's "Gonna Fly Now" plays in the background.
The fight with Creed is brutal, with Creed battering the outmatched Balboa. Despite taking a terrible beating, Rocky's indominable fighting spirit cannot be bent or broken, and he gets up off the mat repeatedly thoughout the fight. Going into the final 15th round, and far behind on points, Creed and Balboa touch gloves in the center of the ring, and Creed demands, "You're going down!". Rocky, unwavering, unbroken, and defiant, simply replys through broken and swollen lips, "No way".
The fight has a surprise ending that keeps fans wondering who will win up until the very last second, Exact details will not be revealed, but the insightful reader will realize there is a Rocky 3,4,5, and 6, and should be able to ascertain the ending.
Rocky II follows the formula of the original "Rocky", but with a less satisfying effect. It is certainly entertaining, but does not come close to the original offering. Thus, like most sequels, it falls short of the glory of the inspiring original. I still recommend it, but not nearly as highly as the 1976 award-winning "Rocky".
Jim "Konedog" Koenig
p.s. I took a girlfriend to see Rocky II in May of 1979 in Bemidji, Minnesota. It was our first date. I ended up marrying her in 1982, had 6 kids, and we have been together ever since. Like Rocky, I don't know what I would do without my "Adrian".

Sally Field stars in this well-crafted revenge thriller. Eye for an Eye follows Karen McCann (Field) after her teenage daughter is raped and murdered. At first, she sinks into depression and paranoia; but, when the killer (Kiefer Sutherland) is caught, then released on a technicality, she becomes obsessed and begins to track him in his neighborhood. Her single-mindedness begins to distance her from her husband (Ed Harris). Finally, when the killer threatens her younger daughter, she decides to take matters into her own hands. Eye for an Eye is not exactly a balanced examination of justice and revenge--Sutherland's killer is a relentless monster--but it does approach the conflict from many points of view, articulated by a superb supporting cast, including Joe Mantegna, Beverly D'Angelo, Charlayne Woodard, Philip Baker Hall, Keith David, and Donal Logue. It's directed with professional skill by John Schlesinger (Midnight Cowboy, Marathon Man). --Bret Fetzer
Customer Reviews:
This was so awful, it made Ishtar look like Oscar material........2007-05-03
I mean honestly, it amazes me that I live and breath the same air as these reviewers who give movies like these four and five stars, and then boost it up with their elaborate metaphors and cinematic wonderment of how the art form of this movie was so ravishing in its appeal to audiences who will find the on screen chemistry between Sally Field and Keifer electrifying....................HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA.
There is no use candy coating anything movie goers. Simply stated, this movie is so awful, when my friends and I, around 5 of us, all very much into cinema, and the art of, and the making of, got about 45 minutes into it, we all looked at each other as if we were watching a first years at NYU's project. (and even those are noteworthy!)
Horrendous. Appalling. Should not even made it to DVD. Here's metal more attractive.
Eye For An Eye.......2007-03-15
Loved this movie. Sally Field was great, and so was Kiefer Sutherland. Lots os suspence.
Eye For An Eye.......2007-01-13
Sally Field delivers a powerfully dramatic performance. Very nice ending too! You'll love to hate Kiefer Sutherland in this movie.
Poor man's truth serum: caffeine and sugar. .......2006-09-11
There is a pattern in Hollywood when it comes to drama/revenge films such as Eye for an Eye. It is an extremely simple pattern that is regenerated time and time again because audiences like to not be surprised. They are prepared for the bad guy to die at the end, whilst the victim or top-billed actor/actress comes out as the hero at the end. It is meant to give us a sense of security and comfort, but for this critic it is getting old. Eye for an Eye is a perfect example of film that falls deep within that tired genre of film. From the opening credits of this film, you could count the steps that each actor was going to make all the way to the very end. The pauses could be guessed, the lines could have been written the night before, and the acting was nothing short of mediocrity at its best. It was guaranteed that the actors would be overly dramatic, the violins would always shrill around Kiefer, and there would be horrendously underdeveloped plotlines that would lead nowhere. This is your typical revenge film with no excitement, no frills, nothing that would make it stand out from the rest. The late director John Schlesinger played it safe with one of his final films, which will promise to bore and completely not satisfy you to the bitter end.
Where did Eye for an Eye go wrong? I don't think I need to count all the ways for you, but some of the bigger issues that I had with this feature was the complete unknown of the characters. I have major issues with stories that escape realism to allow the main character to seem more dramatic. What was Sally Field's job? I know that is a small detail, but it better highlights my complaint that our central family (the McCanns) were not as developed as I would have liked to have seen. I had no clue her daughter had a stutter until two seconds before her death, yet it seemed to be a bigger key element as the film progressed. Ed Harris literally walked through his character, proving that Field's husband could have been played by a plastic bag and still seen the same level of emotion. The only character worth watching, and was developed briefly, was Kiefer. He was 100% evil in this film and it kept this film geek worth watching until the very end. Yet, we didn't even know that much about him either (which upset me). Schlesinger obviously knew the story that he was about to tell with Eye for an Eye very well, the actors I believe even knew the story and they probably didn't even need to read the script, and the story played it safe from the beginning, but it wasn't what I wanted to see. I expected film like this to come out during the 80s, not in 1996. It was pathetic to see name actors like Ed Harris, Sally Field, Phillip Baker Hall, Keith David, and Kiefer Sutherland walk through this film like it was a fly in the pan. Nothing stood out in this film, nothing made me want to rewatch the brutality of it, and nothing made me feel excited about these actors. This was a literal "nothing" film. It lent nothing to the cinematic world except (and I stress this a bit) another peg in a very tired genre known as the "Revenge Thriller".
After watching this film I said to my wife that I thought Sally Field was completely overdramatic throughout the course of it, overplaying the small parts and completely exploding the bigger elements, which made me think of a High School drama production. It was amateur at best, but she said that is why directors use Sally, because she is known for being overly dramatic. This is a pure example of a good thing gone badly. Sally saw success with it once, but as she continues it only creates bad cinema. There were times during Sally's bigger speeches that I found myself laughing. I couldn't help myself, but her focus on certain words and cliché reaction to others just seemed cardboard instead of lifelike. The same could be said for Ed Harris who obviously has discovered that he doesn't have to play the outlaying father any further in films. He was completely wasted in this film. Was there any emotion with him? I didn't see any. Then there was the pitiful contribution by Hall and David that begin with intrigue, but were dropped faster than a big ole sack of potatoes. Also, did Mantegna take a class on how to be a one-dimensional cliché? Urg, his portrayal of the police office was a disgrace to those that genuinely play one-dimensional police officers. Again, the only actor worth watching was Kiefer because he not only spoke with evil, but demonstrated that he was capable of anything vile. It was his sole performance that made this film decent to watch to the end.
If I have to talk about the story I think I am just going to go mad myself. Field over dramatized the entire film, thus creating uncertainty amongst the viewer. Did Kiefer get a bad image because he was bad or because Field wanted to see him as evil? That could have been a great avenue for this film to travel, but alas, ole safe Schlesinger didn't take us down that darker path. I needed more to develop what Hall and David were doing at the support groups, but it seemed like that story was dropped rather quickly as the ending needed to be wrapped up gently in a comfort blanket for viewers. This was yet another dark avenue that was not explored. I felt as if I saw these dark avenues with the director and the cast, yet we chose to stay on the lighted path. That, coupled with the poor acting, just created a film that didn't catch my attention and fully contributed nothing to the cinematic world.
Overall, in case it wasn't obvious, this wasn't a good movie at all. In fact, I could go through the rest of my life without thinking of this movie again. I thought only horror movies had the stated Scream rules and somehow could stick to the same tired pattern over and over again, but with Eye for an Eye it became obvious that it the "Revenge Thrill" fell into that same pattern. The only trouble is that horror films actually have fun with that repetitive structure, this film did not. Sally Field was horrible and should really consider a strong independent film to bring her back to the spotlight, while everyone else was forgettable. The only fun part was watching Jack Bauer play the epitome of evil. Watch this film for Kiefer, but nothing else. Skip it!

This is a surprisingly poor movie. Although it has some well-known actors, and a notable director, the material was just presented badly and predictably - like a lousy late night TV-movie with profanity inserted to liven it up.
The movie makes a simplified joke of the legal system and its sterotypical failings (though legitimate in many cases). It also glosses over the grieving process of the family, ignores the normal safety warnings to the remaining child, overdoes Kiefer Sutherland's character flaws (which are considerable nevertheless), and generally oversimplifies everything into a neat package to which you already know the ending because of the spoiler title.
In one particularly-bad scene, after taking martial arts classes and other measures to prepare herself mentally and physically, Sally's character simply stares open-mouthed and dumbfounded at Keifer's character when they meet on the street and he talks to her.
I don't know what I missed that the 4- and 5-star reviewers like so much. I only see wide-spread mediocrity.
I would only recommend this for fans of Keifer. "Ssssssorry", Sally, not your best role or movie. Ditto Ed Harris, whose other movies I generally like.

Description
International superstar Chuck Norris stars in this pulse-pounding revenge thriller that pulls out all the stops for explosive, edge-of-your-seat excitement. Crackling with unbridled energy and suspense, it's an electrifying adventure that's as fast and hard-hitting as its unstoppable hero.Police detective Sean Kane (Norris) is any criminal's worst nightmare: a cop who's just as lethal with his lightning-quick martial arts moves as he is with his service revolver. But when his partner is brutally murdered, Kane quits the force and goes beyond the law to seek vengeance against the ruthless Morgan Canfield (Christopher Lee), a powerful and well-connected drug lord who destroys any man who stands in his way. But Kane has never been more ready for a fight. He's bold, ferocious and has an ace up his sleeve: his mentor, Chan (Mako), a martial arts wizard who will join him in a thrilling, no-holds-barred final assault against Canfield and his criminal empire.

One of Norris' Best.......2006-11-19
An Eye For An Eye is easily one of Chuck Norris' best films, and not surprisingly, it's not because this is an Oscar-caliber film, or because it breaks some new ground.
Rather, An Eye For An Eye is great because it does what it's supposed to do very, very well. In fact, this is the first film of Norris' that really holds up well. In it, he plays a San Francisco cop who's partner gets killed during an arrest. A conspiracy develops that engulfs Norris, his dead partner's fiance who happens to be a TV news reporter, and Norris' martial arts instructor, played by Mako.
The fight scenes in this film are some of Norris' best, and having the fearsome wrestler/actor Professor Toru Tanaka as the main henchman in the film doesn't hurt either. Mako provides great comic relief, and Richard Roundtree is solid as Norris' superior officer.
An Eye For An Eye is a great martial arts/action film. One that Chuck Norris can be very proud to have on his list of credits.
Good 80's Action Movie, Weak Menu.......2006-03-20
This movie is for Chuck Norris Fans Only (Like Me). The movie is good and has some nice fights but seems a bit old for today standards.
The DVD quality is good but you're not getting any special features en the Menu, just the movie with optional subs and the trailer.
But if you like Chuck Norris and B-Action films, you must see this movie or add it to your collection.
Classic.......2005-01-04
An Eye for an Eye gives you the feeling it was shot in Chuck's prime. It has a number of great actors other than Chuck - Christopher Lee, Mako and even Professor Toru Tanaka!. I didn't purchase the MGM version from the US as this page states it is in Pan & Scan. A widescreen version is available in Australia (Region 4) which I'm sure Amazon could order in for diehard fans. Brilliant!
one of the better Chuck Norris films.......2003-10-28
This is one of the best Chuck Norris movies, so if you like Chuck Norris movies, that's saying something. The DVD is not the greatest quality, and there are no special extras. It's just the movie for the most part. Chuck's got a better supporting cast in this one than he often does, and even though the plot is not too different than a lot of movies of this genre, this one is just more entertaining overall. Chuck's got a mentor in this one who helps him out in the required final showdown sequence with the bad guys. And one of the bad guys is none other than the actor who played "Scaramanga" from The Man With the Golden Gun, though he had to leave his extra nipple with the James Bond studio...
A MUST FOR ALL CHUCK NORRIS FANS!.......2003-10-12
This is my personal favorite film of Chuck Norris because not only is the martial arts action superb (possibly the best Norris has ever performed on film) but the plot is exciting and full of interesting villains including that fat Japanese guy, the crooked cop who looks like he's on drugs and finally, the villain of the piece, Christopher Lee. Get this movie.

MUST HAVE.......2007-05-12
Sure all our muscles need excersise! And why not the eyes too! I have perfect eye sight and still I feel much better, relaxed, after I started with this program. DVD comes with a small excersise book and stuff you need for the program.
best by test.......2006-08-15
Meir's book is the most thorough I have ever seen and he is clearly the most qualified having not only recreated his own eyesight sufficiently to have no restrictions on his drivers license, and to have assisted thousands to improve or regain their eyesight. In addition, his work with Muscular Dystrophy is nearly miraculous. Check out his references in this area as you will find it hard to believe that he has made such an impact in this area for which Jerry Lewis campaigns every year and to my knowledge has never even mentioned Meir.
Great information, bit slow on the teaching.......2006-08-10
This DVD is based on the Bates' book method that says MOST simple visual blurriness due to nearsightedness or far sightedness is due to eye muscle strain/stiffness, not the cornea or optic nerve (always situations where it is).
This DVD shows exercise that Meir himself came up with based on the book who he himself was born almost totally blind by age 7 who passed the DMV eye exam w/o need for glasses.
I've only gone through some of it, but the simple thing as warming your hands & cupping each eye with each hand for 5 min w/o pressure on the cheek bones was great.
He says most people's eye muscles are stiff from too much reading, tv & computer work & not enough looking long distances like previous generations. I didn't even think my eyes were stiff until I cupped them. When I was done, OH MY GOD, my eyes felt SSOOO refreshed & I could see slightly better.
As most people, I would think sleeping is the same thing, but he says since that is passive, it does not count as giving your eyes a chance to relax.
The DVD has him teaching another man how to do the exercise which contains an eye chart & simple carboard squares to work on your peripheral vision.
The only reason I took off 1 star was because the teaching is so slow & drawn out I kept getting too bored to finish it.
Worth it's Weight in Gold!.......2004-06-08
The MEIR SCHNEIDER'S YOGA FOR YOUR EYES DVD contains all the essential exercises and materials needed to dramatically improve your vision. After doing just a few of the exercises on YOGA FOR YOUR EYES, I noticed I could focus much more easily on fine print, and my eyes felt relaxed and refreshed! Meir Schneider's instructions are clear and easy to follow, and his life experience of going from being born legally blind to being able to pass his driving exam is inspirational.
The DVD format is much better than reading books or tapes for demonstrating eye yoga, because it's the closest thing to attending a yoga for the eyes workshop. Each technique is clearly demonstrated, so it can be quickly learned and easily remembered. I'd read about the Bates methods of sunning, palming, shifting, and swinging... but never before been able to so quickly master these techniques. Explanations are provided for why these and a couple of other techniques make such a big difference in vision, and why modern lifestyles often tend to unnecessarily cause our vision to deteriorate over time. Schneider explains how we can improve our visual perception as we get older by learning to exercise and relax our eyes on a regular basis.
YOGA FOR YOUR EYES is worth its weight in gold; do yourself and your eyes a huge favor and watch this DVD as soon as possible!

Customer Reviews:
Stinky man, my name's Stinky........2006-02-03
If you were to ask me how many ways this film transformed into a disaster, I do not believe I would have enough fingers and toes to fully count the ways. From the dreamy beginning of this bland final chapter, until the ending cliché moments, there were probably a million different themes and elements that were utterly pathetic. In fact, I believe that this may be the first film that I have watched which had no redeeming values surrounding it. For any of you that have watched, like myself, the House Party trilogy, there is a level of expectation that follows these films. The first movie set the groundwork. Kid & Play need to get to a party and express themselves lyrically. The sequel finished the shabby generic walls of the house by repeating a similar diagram, while the third film was the demolition team to tear it down. Everything set up from the beginning of this series was destroyed, demolished, decayed, disemboweled by the time that the third installment arrived. We were missing key characters, Kid & Play seemed less excited by this film, and apparently continuity from the second film was not a top priority for director Eric Meza. This film is nothing but trash left in the house for too long. House Party 3 smells, it is attracting too many flies, and mold is the only form of life willing to adapt to it. Sad to see the potentials of a trilogy die because the final film didn't pay respect to its beginnings.
I would like to say that the acting was to blame for such a disappointing ending, but that means I would have to admit to there actually being acting in this film. That is something I am not willing to acknowledge at this time. As our story developed, you could easily see the relief behind Kid & Play's eyes knowing that this was going to be their final jaunt in the House Party line. In fact, you could see the excitement melt away from their characters as the film progressed. It was a headache to watch. Kid was not his typical expression-esque self, but instead, older and more tired? Play was just annoying in this film. Meza decided to completely disregard their passions in the first two films and make them managers instead of performers in this final one. This is what hurt the most, to witness two characters that we have seen grow over time from young idealistic teens ready to lyrically express themselves and go to parties, to old, tired, and boring actors caring less about the music, more about the money, and have the lamest parties imaginable. I thought I would never find myself saying this, but I missed "Pops" from the original. I didn't miss him in the second film, but now seeing this final chapter I missed some of the old faces. This may be the only time you hear me say this, but I missed Martin Lawrence. While I hated his character in the first two films, he was an element missing House Party 3. They tried to cover this by employing Bernie Mac as the annoying Uncle, but it just didn't seem to work. Screaming is not a substitute for acting. Chris Tucker makes a small cameo, and honestly, I could have used more of him. He was a shining bit of light in this dark, damp, disgusting film.
As you read this review, you may find yourself saying, "Andy, you hated the other two films, what made you think this would be any different?" I don't think I was hoping for Oscar nominations, but I did want a strong finale to this trilogy. I worked my way through it, I felt I deserved it. I wanted to see familiar faces, as much as I hated them, I wanted to see a familiar plot (however generic and repetitive it was to be), and I wanted to see a union between two familiar characters, instead of throwing in a random stranger at the end. I feel as if these are very reasonable requests considering nothing lead me to believe this film would end up to be the tragedy it was. After watching this film, no matter how bad it was going to be, I wanted to be able to flip through the channels on TV and see House Party on TBS and find myself reminiscing of the future that I knew. Now, that is never going to happen. If there is one trilogy that I want to put behind me, it is the House Party films. For nearly an hour and a half, we watch unmotivated characters force themselves through cliché urban hip-hop cinema motions. Where were the bad guys? Where were the familiarities of the original films? I hated the first films, but I detested House Party 3. Why bother building a fan base if you are just going to tear it down with the finale. It is somewhat like changing characters midway through a television series. It just doesn't work, and it didn't work in this film.
Overall, this movie was a disaster. While the other two films were never much to write home about, I did want a conclusion. I wanted to finish this series without worrying that there may be more coming around the bend. That was, before I noticed House Party 4 as another sequel. This series should have ended after the first one. House Party is a classic example of what happens when Hollywood notices that small budget films can continue to make money even after they loose their appeal. Take a look at Scary Movie 4 being released soon. Honestly, is it necessary? I do not suggest this film or this entire series. The first one, if you are forced to watch, than watch. Otherwise, don't waste your brain space!

The last real House Party.......2005-12-01
Unless you count the 4th movie, made a few years ago, 'House Party 3' is the true conclusion to this Kid N' Play comedy series. The good news is that the series goes out with a bang. Too many comparisons have been made between this third film and the first two in the series. However, 'House Party 3' is funny in its own right.
Kid N' Play are back and Kid is getting married. A lot of the movie focuses on all the temptation he faces on the way to his upcoming wedding. Play is one of those helping to tempt Kid. There really isn't a solid story to base the movie around. The bigger picture is that a bachelor party is being planned for Kid. Kid N' Play borrow some money to help fund this party, all the while attempting to sign a rap group, Sex As A Weapon (played by real life group, TLC). The whole movie is centered around this thin storyline.
Some of the supporting cast includes Chris Tucker and Bernie Mac, both of whom went on to bigger and better things. The majority of the characters, including Aunt Lucy, don't contribute to the plot and just happen to be in the vicinity.
Kid N' Play must have knew going in that this would be the last movie in the 'House Party' series. It shows when you are watching this. Nonetheless, there are plenty of laughs. The best supporting characters include Uncle Vester (played by Bernie Mac) and Stinky. While Bernie's character, like many of the others, has little to do with the outcome, he makes the movie much better than it would have been without him.
Kid's dad, played in the first movie by the late Robin Harris, has a cameo as a snapshot. Tisha Campbell reprises her role as Kid's former love interest from earlier in the series. Her role is fairly limited and is just meant to stir the pot a little, adding some tension leading up to the wedding.
The ending is a happy one, a simple party scene involving everyone from the movie together in Kid's house. There was a fourth 'House Party' movie made, but Kid N' Play had nothing to do with it. With the way this one ended, it would really be impossible to do another movie with the same characters. It would be too hard to convince people to come to a 'House Party' thrown by a married man.
This should be a no-brainer for fans of the series. The best thing is that there is a very easy lead-in to 'House Party 3', meaning that you don't need to see the first two from the series to sit down and watch this. However, it is a lot more fun that way. Overall, this is a pretty good black comedy with more than enough funny moments to make this worth at least a rental.
da last house party i am ever going 2 watch and attend .......2005-09-17
this party was getting old because kid and play r now old well in their 20s they don't have enough time 2 fool around and getting into trouble like da first 2 films and tisha campbell isn't in da entire film but chris tucker and benmae mac were very funny u get guess star appearacne from tlc and immature da fourth one i didn't bother watching because it didn't have kid and play because they are now in their 30s too old so but i do see is da r and b group immature not so immature and other people that didn't do anything 2 get my attention of watching this film this was da final house party movie that i watched because of da late cool kid and play and what happened 2 big ear martin l he was surpose 2 b here i saw his replacement which was a guy that almost look like him but had an enough bigger mouth than him but he was kinda of funny Joe Brown
House Party Falls Off.......2005-03-27
This movie was a huge dissapointment. I feel Kid 'N Play peaked with Class Act. House Party I is of course a classic, and I felt it was out done by House Party II (those who say this one is better than that film are our of their minds). This film came out 3 years after that one, so I guess the lack of an immediate follow up may be the first clue that this movie wasn't going to be up to standards. My main beef with this film can probably be contributed to waht was going wrong with hip hop culture at the time it came out. This movie seems slightly more thugged out than the previous House Parties. Those movies had a more pure b-boy feel to them. You can feel the impact of the westcoast gangsta bandwagon in this film. They should've just avoided this and done their own thing reguardless. I doubt this has anything to do with what Kid 'N Play would've wanted, so the blame probably goes on the writer/director/studio. They never got played out as rappers imho. Its just the industry got all messed up by this gangsta bs, and obviously a group with their kind of aesthetic could not surviive. Other things I was dissapointed by was the lack of characters from the earlier two films. Sidney gets a couple of cheap cameos instead of a starring role like she should've had. Other than Kid 'N Play and Pops' photograph, thats all there is that links this to the earlier films. However, Kid 'N Play don't even get a fair shake in this movie because alot of their screen time is stolen by those gimmickly, little midgets, Immature, who I seriously wanted to kick the sh** out of. Bernie Mac, however, is hilarious in this film, as always. Hes one of this film's saving graces. There is also a really funny family dinner scene where the crap hits the fan. Overall though, this movie is boring, unfunny, and lacking the charm of Kid 'N Play's other films. Go check those out instead, only get this one if you're really interested in seeing the duo on screen again.
Hip-Hop Love Boat.......2004-02-03
This movie has a revolving door with LOTS of "characters" who are fun to watch. They must have known the franchise was at an end, and threw in everything but the kitchen sink. No real story to get in the way. But it's fun and can be played (and sort of watched while you read or something) over and over. Why only 4 stars? Because I've been conditioned by The Man who says Citizen Kane is a classic. Yawn. HP 3 is as fun as 1 and 2, if not as "good" by conventional standards of story and character development, or even good laughs. But TLC and Immature and Chris Rock, Bernie Mac and the old guy who says his wife is "MY ho" to Mac, etc... make this one fun. Kick It!
