I agree with Jamie Kendall,.......2007-06-16
The description hit it right on the head if you ask me. There are really only 2 fight scenes. Donnie Yen gets 5 stars, the movie gets 2. This will not make it into my martial arts collection of movies.
Good Movie, Great Martial Arts.......2007-06-03
donnie and sammo together!! enough said...fight choreagraphy was awesome! donnie's skillz always nothing but the best...sammo simply legendary, never disappoints, still moves great for his age and size.... wish the fight scene w/ donnie and sammo was longer...
LAW & ORDER MEETS CHINA TOWN.......2007-06-03
It takes a round about way of getting to the point but KILLZONE pays out at the end of the film. This movie has sevrall actors who we are used to seeing in the GOOD GUY rolls playing some very NOT good rolls. Sammo Hung plays a mob boss who is driven not only by his desire for more power but vengence and the desire to do right in the eyes of a little girl. The multi-talented Donnie Yen plays a hard nosed detective who has to walk a fine line as he watches his own team of detectives become more and more thug like in the name of defeting the mob. All the while grappeling with his own dark desire to fight fire with with. A MUST SEE if you like police dramas.
Kill Zone.......2007-05-15
Kill Zone is an action packed martial arts movie. All the fight scenes are excellent. The characters are all believeable, you could really relate to their emotions and motivations. It was very interesting to see Sammo, as the bad guy, who was really bad but had a soft spot for his family. I really didnt like the way the movie ended though, I felt someone should have had a happy ending.
and now the match we've all been waiting for..........2007-05-12
When I learned that Kill Zone would feature a showdown between Sammo Hung and Donnie Yen (and not even knowing who was good guy and who was bad), I had to get this movie. For years these 2 have starred in many martial arts movies and delivered top notch fights, but have never faced head to head. So I watched. Wow. The "entire" movie was actually wonderful.
Kill Zone really only has 2 major fights, both at the end, but the drama and emotions throughout the movie are so powerful, you can feel the emotions in these 2 fights. The cast is wonderful. The story is superb. Its a tale of revenge told like almost no other. I absouletly loved it. The good cops, led by the Simon Yam charcater, are like family. When they begin to perish under the criminal boss Po (Sammo Hung) and his handy 2nd in command, the good guys become bad to get revenge. The Donnie Yen character shows up, and discovers the cops secrets for revenge, and he tries to stop them at first, but later he gets just as emotionally involved.
I enjoyed the way in which the movie was presented, and how it progressed. Finally a movie, especially martial arts, with flashback scenes that are not cheesy, but very important for the story. If you want a martial arts movie with some depth, Kill Zone is a must. There is nothing else quite like it.

Bill Kiowa (Montgomery Ford) is released after a five-year prison term for a crime he did not commit. The bandit El Fego (Tatsuya Nakadai), who did the actual crime, also killed Kiowa's young Indian wife. Once free Kiowa raises a gang to go after the man who framed him. An Italian western in the "A Fistful of Dollars" mold with a better than average cast, which includes Bud Spencer in the debut of his heavy-handed character, later made famous in the "Trinity" series and the outstanding Japanese actor Tatsuya Nakadai, famous for his role in Akira Kurosawa's "Kagemusha". And uncharacteristically written by horror-meister Dario Argento. Digitally re-mastered from a 35mm print with the alternate U.S. title "Today It's Me... Tomorrow You".

Today We Kill Tomorrow We Die.......2005-08-02
I loved this movie. No, it's not as good as a Clint Eastwood western, but there's something to be said for spaghetti westerns.
Great 1968 Spaghetti written by Dario Argento.......2003-08-03
This title was originally released in 1968 as "Oggi a me... domani a te!" in Italy, or "Today is Me... Tomorrow You" in the US. Directed by relatively unknown Tonino Cervi (at least this seems to be his only western) it seems that the storylines of Dario Argento can never fail. Most interesting is how this movie has borrowed ideas from "The Magnificent Seven" yet still succeeds very well. There is one scene in a gunshop where Brett Halsey purchases a revolver and it is so uncannily similar to "The Good Bad and the Ugly" the viewer is left wondering who is borrowing from whom in these 60's spaghetti's! The film moves fairly well but is a bit slow in places, it is a fairly typical story of revenge where Nakadai's character borrows heavily from the character played by Gian Maria Volonte in 'For a Few Dollars More'. Nakadai plays a thoroughly weird character without the brilliance of Volonte but still a great character and to some extent makes this film. Bud Spencer fans will probably be disappointed with a rather shallow role and traditional 'John Wayne' western fans will probably dislike this rather bizaree European creation. But for Spaghetti fans highly recommended.
Tatsuya Nakadai in a Dario Argento scripted western.......2003-04-02
I saw a Variety ad for an Italian western with the ad copy is the Samurai sword faster than the six gun. Have never seen that one. This has him as a Mexican Comanchero who mostly uses a pistol but has a few scenes where he uses a machete as a Samurai sword. For Nakadai fans this is a must though he has a supporting part as the bad guy. It is no Illusion of Blood or Sword of Doom but worth a look. Montgomery Ford is really Brett Halsey who is also in the Mario Bava Roy Colt and Winchester Jack. As entertainment I enjoyed the overall story, the action was well done, ditto the direction. Give it a try. When I saw it in a cheapo theatre the print had a greenish hue. This was a clean print for the most part.
One good western!.......2000-04-10
I bought this movie because Bud Spencer was in it, and I was pleased! Its about Bill Kiowa was framed for killing his wife and sent to prison for 5 years. When hes released from jail he goes to his fathers house to see how his dad was doing and to get all of his money. After this he rounds up a few people (including Bud Spencer) and he wants to kill the buddy who killed his wife. One bad thing about this movie is Bud Spencers voice! Its very high, usually its dubbed low, and this is annoying. The best scene is where Bud is tied to the chair and he tears the arms of the chair right off! Its a good film....3 stars.
Decent Spaghetti Western.......2000-02-13
If you are buying this as a Bud Spencer fan skip it. Bud's voice is dubbed in a voice higher than his which might bother you. The story is about a man kiowa(Ford) who's framed for robbery and his wife killed. After 5 years in jail he's released he than hires Bud and some others to help him catch and kill the guy. A decent western but thats it.

not his worst, but pretty close..........2006-09-07
While I was tempted to give Out for a Kill 1 star, I gave it 2 stars for a couple of reasons. At least Seagal's character was something other than an ex-CIA/special forces guy...OK he was Chi Kung master, but at least he was something else! Another reason for the upgrade to 2 stars is the plot. Yes. There was nothing special with this plot, but at least it is one that can be followed. Unlike most of Seagal's most recent storyline, this one makes some sense. Again, it's certainly no Academy Award winner, but it's much better than some of Seagal's most recent efforts. Perhaps the biggest reason for giving this two stars is that 1 Star should be saved for his truly atrocious films such as The Patriot or Submerged. The fight scenes were decent but I'd love to see Seagal get back to more of the Aikido that he used in earlier films.
As was the case with the last Seagal film that I watched, the sound quality was awful. Rather than raising and lowering the volume to hear the dialogue, I simply turned on the subtitles. I'm more a fan (or simply a glutton for punishment) than my wife. She stopped watching after 15 minutes!

DON'T MAKE FILMS UNDER DURESS .......2005-12-21
If Steven Seagal really was under pressure from the Mob to make this and all the other later disastrous films in his career, I suppose he can't be blamed for putting on the pounds and taking on a 'who cares?' attitude. His earlier films have the stamp of well-choregraphed high action, realistic and slickly done. The plots might be pretty predictable, but if you were looking for a good testosterone charged action thriller, Steven Seagal could deliver. There was frequently an ecological message being delivered about how man is ruining the planet, so a spiritual message was often contained in a Seagal film, which was good if subtly given, but a little preachy if not. The main issue here is that Seagal's first movies were some of the best action productions with a spiritual message tagged on somewhere, whereas his latest ones have all been crap. His heart just doesn't seem to be in it any more and it shows. His Buddhist master may have advised him not to make any more violent movies, but it should have been advice not to make any completely crap ones. I'd personally like to see him do one more really good one, even if his role (given that he's older) was adapted accordingly, maybe something along the line of Charles Bronson in The Mechanic as the hitman mentor of Jan Michael Vincent.
A Mixed Bag.......2005-12-03
In "Out for a Kill," wooden Indian Seagal takes on the Tongs single-handedly. The film is a definite mixed bag, giving us both some of Seagal's best scenes from any of his films, littered with some of his worst and most unintentionally funny. The result is a moderately entertaining but very frustrating movie, frustrating because it could have very easily been better. In fact, it could have been Seagal's best film. Too bad.
Seagal plays Robert Burns, a thief who was imprisoned and who then earned a PhD in archeology while in prison. Upon release he was hired at Yale, where he became the university's most distinguished academician. On a dig in which he discovers drugs hidden in artifacts, his assistant is killed. He's imprisoned, released, and harassed by the Tong's. His wife is killed and he embarks on a killing spree after mumbling the best line in the film, "They say kill one to warn a hundred. I might have to kill a hundred to warn one."
Let us now summarize what is both bad and good with this film, starting with the bad. First, the plot is ludicrous. You can't earn a PhD from a credible university while in prison, and Yale would not hire an ex-convict, period. Second, the only emotion Seagal can convey is determination. When his assistant is murdered, he simply frowns for a second. His reaction when his wife is murdered is no more emotional. He doesn't even seem to care, emotionally. Perhaps his reaction is simply due to the sheer principle of the matter. (Compare this to the wonderful and heartbreaking scene in "Wake of Death" when Van Damme discovers that his wife has been murdered!) Third, many of the scenes are so bad that they should have simply been cut, such as Seagal bonding with the black guy in jail (AGAIN trying to make Seagal look "cool"), the VERY fake scene of Seagal flying a plane with detectives standing in front of a fake-looking sky, and the scenes of the house in Connecticut that are composed of graphics so bad that Xbox games are more convincing. Fourth, Seagal needs to dub his own damn lines. In the first 15 minutes of the film Seagal is never shown moving his mouth and all of his dialogue is given as a voice-over, because, unsurprisingly, it's not really Seagal talking! Many of the decisions made by the filmmakers here must be questioned, such as why in the "barbershop fight," after an amazing beginning in which Seagal engages in a superb series of blocks, did they decide to ruin everything by making the guy fly and crawl on walls? DUMB!
Now for the good side: some of the scenes in this film are remarkably well-filmed. Similarly, some of the cinematography is surprisingly spectacular. So much so, in fact, that these scenes seem somewhat out of place here, as though they were stolen from a much better film. I think the director was going for a film noir feel here, and in this he succeeded. Some of the scenes are saturated with deep, moody, rich colors, creating a foreboding, brooding, almost "Blade Runner" feel. It's quite beautiful. In fact, some of this film is surprisingly artistically done, such as the male detective's death scene, the barbershop, the mah jong game room, the fight in the restaurant, the tattoo parlor, etc. In general, all of the Chinatown and eastern European scenes have very successful, moody, noirish "feels" to them. These successful scenes, counterpoised against the lame scenes mentioned above are what make watching this film so frustrating. Some moments are downright laughably bad, as when the last line of the masterpiece "Chinatown" is blatantly ripped off for no apparent reason whatsoever. Further, there is an entire subplot about tattoos on the Tongs' wrists and a "riddle" that is composed by piecing the tattoos together (though it is really not a "riddle" at all but a quote). This subplot perhaps did not make sense, and some narration was added in attempt to aid the viewer's understanding. Notice that whenever we hear Seagal's character's thoughts, it is never actually Seagal's voice!
Fans of Seagal watch him for the action scenes, which is why fans may not be disappointed here (assuming they've been able to stomach his other post-mafia films). "Out for a Kill" has more and better fight scenes than most of his other recent pictures (which have had virtually none!). There is less wirefu nonsense than in "Belly of the Beast," thankfully. Unfortunately, however, there is still a high degree of doubling. Ever notice now how much of Seagal's fights are filmed at odd angles, shot from behind his back, or are so low his head is out of the frame? That's because it's not Seagal doing the fighting. They cut to a shot of his face grimacing, then cut back to some arms playing paddycake. Unfortunate. (In the last fight, in which Seagal enters the villain's "lair," for instance, we only see "Seagal" from behind-because, it's not Seagal at all!) With that said, the scenes actually performed by Seagal are some of his best, recent work. The fight where he uses bamboo sticks to kill a tai chi sword master is excellent (but notice how the other bad guy is just kind of off doing his own thing, and then looks up in apparent surprise that his buddy is dead!) In this movie Seagal also uses more aikido than in his other, newer films, displaying some beautifully executed throws here shown in slow motion. There is also a greater degree of wrist locks, arm bars and arm breaks.
Some of the pseudo-Chinese philosophizing in the film may get on viewers' nerves, as may the mostly pointless scenes of the Tongs sitting around a table calling Seagal a "gwilo professor." These scenes are only interesting in the end, when we learn that all of these men were sent to Seagal knowing Seagal would kill them, so that their leader wouldn't have to split the dough with them. If this is a metaphor for a leader and his troops or a king and his men then it is a shallow one, as are all the other attempts at philosophy in the film made by sprinkling about random, cryptic quotes, such as when Seagal asks a Tong where his leader is and he growls, "Crows everywhere are equally black." Huh? Does that mean that Seagal will never find him? or that everyone is equally guilty? Who knows. Kill'em all, Seagal. That's what you're good at.
Steven Seagal, if you surf Amazon, please listen to us!.......2005-11-13
Back in the 1990's, Steven Segal and Jean-Claude Van Damme were the stars going head to head at the cinema for these types of movies. They, unlike Arnold, Bruce Willis, and Stallone, were both heavy into martial arts. Both had similiar acting styles (look mean -hit people). Both went into the straight to video route after a few under performing theatrical releases. But if Seagal keeps putting out crap like this, Van Damme might be looked upon in 100 years from now as the better of the two. He did afterall, go into sci-fi, tried more creative approaches in his movie plots and acted as if he really wanted to be an actor...he played a ex-con, a cop, a soldier,a father, even twins with more depth. Sure, he fell like Seagal in the end, but not as hard.
Seagal, on the other hand, stayed the course with very few exceptions (except The Patriot) playing all characters the same. And somewhere in the late 1990s, tried to add a environmental message into his films, sometimes awkwardly.
I heard, but don't know for sure, that he dated or married a Chinese lady, and this changed his movie style to the Asian themed, Asian style direction, and the choppy editing that have plagued his latest films.
You have read the reviews of Out to A Kill so I won't go into it. But I do have suggestions for Steven if he ever reads Amazon.com
This movie would have worked better if he was a retired professor whose son was framed. He could have married a Chinese woman. He goes to China to snoop around about his son being in jail, and kills a bad guy who is with those that are smuggling the goods. The rest of the bad guys, as well as the Chinese police, and the American police are after him until the gets to the bottom of it and proves his son's innocence.Explain somewhere in the film he was martial arts teacher at the college he taught and one time was a champion so he kicks butt realistically..
In fact, in this movie no characters (such as his wife)that are really explained....they just come and go.The acting is terrible all around.
Action is nice and expected, but the story actually matters and time alloted for character's personalities to come together has to happen for it to be well recieved by most people (remember Under Seige?)Then it might get a theatrical release instead of the usual straight to video hell.
LOSE WEIGHT. Be like other stars.Take pride in yourself. When a movie is in pre-production, other stars hit the gym, go jogging, etc. George Clooney once said he got in shape by cutting back on eating and working out hard twice a day for 8 weeks or more before shooting started. Stallone trained for months before the Rocky and Rambo flicks.
Take acting lessons. Show more emotional range and still be a tuff guy. Maybe like Bruce Willis in his later roles?
Get rid of the long leather jackets. It makes you look like My Cousin Vinney...totally out of place.
Do something with the hair. Anything. Tie it back like you used to if nothing else.
Play parts that fit your age, like Clint Eastwood does.
Practice your martial arts and get your edge back so we don't have to endure stunt doubles, slow motion, camera tricks. Be like Jackie Chan and be real.
Your fans love you so please respect them by no longer turning out doggie-do like this.

Customer Reviews:
Is Quentin Tarantino Jealous?.......2007-02-07
This is the second LBP I've watched, and I had a better time than with any number of expensive Hollywood 'blockbusters'. Here's what you gotta do: ignore the lack of actual sets and other normal movie stuff, and accept that Teen Ape is a guy (at least, I assume so) wearing an ape mask. Let Go Thy Preconceptions that an entertaining film means the film makers having to spend actual money on it.
If you like South Park and the Simpsons, odds are, this is for you.
This is a parody of the Kill Bill movies, but far better than any number of Saturday Night Live sketches. It's fair to say I got more laughs per minute with Mulva 2 than I did out of a whole Saturday Night Live show. Part of the laughs come from it all being an injoke.
I liked the Kill Bill movies, by the way.
Mulva 1 (which I am halfway thru) involved a delightfully dorky girl, a continual chocolate smear on her lips, who goes out for Halloween night to get her beloved candy. Unfortunately, there are some zombies in the way. That film was amateurish--the acting is, uh, variable--but that's part of the charm.
In Mulva 2, five years have passed. Mulva was put into a coma by a fiendish gang of, well I'm not sure of what. When she wakes up, she wants revenge. When she wakes up, she is also a different actress. Apparently the original actress was not available, so Chris Seaver, the writer/director, got an actual actress from Troma Films (and who was in the original Mulva in a secondary role), Debbie Rochon. No offense to the other actors, but Rochon clearly has experience & tons of presence. She has exactly the right tone: she takes none of the film seriously. There is also a running gag about how the more statuesque Rochon has "filled out" while being in a coma.
There isn't much of a plot, so don't worry about spoilers.
Basically, Mulva goes through Bill's (Teen Ape's) evil crew, and finally reaches him at the end, for a showdown. Along the way, Seaver deftly parodies key scenes in the Kill Bill films. Somehow the lack of money adds to the fun. And there's plenty of gore--people lose their heads, and I don't mean emotionally--but it's so silly it becomes a great joke (as opposed to the serious violence in Kill Bill).
And, at about 65 minutes, Seaver moves the film briskly along. It simply does not have time to drag.
This is recommended for anyone who does not have a Teen Ape up his/her butt, and can get in on the joke.
MULVA DOES IT AGAIN!.......2006-04-23
ok let me start off by saying I would have given it 5 stars and it realy does deserve 5 stars if only it had been the original actress. . MISSY DONATUTI playing MULVA but alas they couldn't get Missy so they went for the ever beautiful and amazing DEBBIE ROCHON, and used the 5 year coma she was in to explain the transormation.. and yeah I love how they joke about her being a WHOLE NEW MULVA throughout the movie.
Ok where to start..
Chris Seaver writer and director has said that his original idea for MULVA II was to have MULVA face off with the Wolf-Man, The Frankenstein's Monster, Dracula, The Mummy, The Creature etc. in a MONSTER SQUAD style film using the original actress MISSY DONATUTI.. when that didnt' happen he dropped the idea completely then was asked later by TEMPE video to do MULVA II and asked for some ideas.. he pitched the idea I just mentioned as well as a KILL BILL parody... they liked the above idea so of course he opted to do the KILL BILL parody.. I would love to have seen the other idea and can only hope for a THIRD mulva..
on to the review..
if you've seen theoriginal MULVA you know how overacted and obsurd everything can be as well as the low budget and quality of the film and effects used.
MULVA II finds us with better quality video, effects and actors. Sticking somewhat closely to scenes from KILL BILL done only the way CHRIS SEAVER can.. I guarantee you'll love every minute of this..
DEBBIE does a great job mixing the original MULVA's personality with THE BRIDE from KILL BILL and the other actors rock making fun of the varios characters from Kill Bill.
The end fight scene with TEEN APE.. if those remember the boring ass dialog rich final climax between the BRIDE and BILL never fear this is not boring..
this one grabs you by the bloody balls and runs for the hills..
They completely drop the KILL BILL parody and start TRIBUTING another famous VERSES BATTLE! I'm not going to say which one.. but yeah...
you'll like it..
CHRIS SEAVER does it again..
It's AMAZING
uhm.. yeah MULVA III come on!
For fans of Horror Comedy by fans of Horror Comedy.......2005-03-18
First off, if you're expecting Kill Bill, well just don't. This is ultra low budget filmmaking the LBP way.
There's a world of cinema that exists just outside of Hollywood, Sundance, and Cannes. It's a world of truly independent cinema, a world of Troma, of ifilm, of Low Budget Pictures. This is where Chris Seaver lives and makes movies. For Chris, the films aren't about huge budgets, amazing acting and technical wizardry, but entertainment made by fans, for fans. If this flick makes you laugh, Chris did his job; if it didn't and you didn't like it, then that's fine too. I'm sure Chris would be happy just knowing you gave it a try. At the end of the day it really doesn't matter what anyone thinks, Chris does what he loves doing, and does his best to make a living doing it. Can anyone really ask for more?
In this sequel to Mulva: Zombie Ass Kicker, we find a brand new Mulva just out of a sugar induced 5-year coma. Her lisp is gone, her ears are pierced, and man did she ever grow some boobs. Her mission? To track down and kill those responsible for stealing five years of her life, and her bag of Halloween candy too. If you're at all familiar with the LBP world you won't be disappointed. We get to see everyone from Heather and Puggly, to Bonejack and Teenape, and a very special appearance by a guy who very nearly looks like the pumped sax-playing rocker from The Lost Boys. There's a ton of in-jokes (Plastique anyone?) and a ton of Kill Bill influenced sight gags.
What surprised me the most what for all of Chris's supposed technical disinterest this is the best-looking LBP feature ever. The editing and titles are worlds better than before, and the opening sequence (mirroring the opening of Kill Bill) is in my opinion of very professional quality.
Everyone in the cast turns in very fun, entertaining performances, in particular Jason McCall and Meredith Host (who pulls almost triple duty). Debbie does a great job channeling a weird mixture of The Bride and the previous Mulva, to make a very fun new character that for once IS the hot chick on the cover of the box.
If ultra-low budget filmmaking, guillo-dildos and fart-beheadings are your thing, this won't disappoint.

Considered a cult classic by many fans, this gory, violent thriller in the tradition of "The Untold Story" and "Dr.Lamb" is now finally on DVD! To teach his wife a lesson for fooling around, Fatty (Kent Cheng) hires a professional killer, a demented Vietnamese veteran soldier (Simon Yam from "Naked Killer"), to do the job. When Fatty refuses to pay for the hit once it is done, revenge is taken on his family. In order to preserve his own life, Fatty must now take on the killer himself. Co-stars Danny Lee from John Woo's "The Killer".

Your words can change your life........2006-06-28
Wow what a trip. This dude fatty is having a real bad day and it is not getting any better soon. There is some stuff in this film that you can bet your life you will never see in an American film and I gotta say some of the stuff is over the top, in a good way.
If you want the whole story laid out for you read the other reviews, but if you want to be surprised like I was just push play and kick back baby for fun and mayhem. Fatty (Kent Cheng) may not look like he would be a man of action but then looks can be deceiving . Kent Cheng gets a big pat on the back for doing a top notch job as Fatty.
You will be happy you dug around to find this film, see it !!!
Over the top.......2004-12-14
"Run and Kill" is yet another one of those Hong Kong Category III films I seek out whenever possible. I wrote awhile go something to the effect that these sorts of films aren't coming out anymore since the Chinese took over from the British. I'm not sure I can confirm that statement, although it does seem peculiar that every Category III film I've seen came out in the early 1990s. If you aren't aware of the magic of Category III, they are films that take violence way, WAY over the top. You'll see things in a Cat III film that you will never see in a Hollywood picture. I'm reminded of "The Untold Story," perhaps one of the most controversial films with this ranking. In that movie, a killer wipes out an entire family--including the children--in a lengthy series of scenes that will shock you to the core. Our own violent cinematic excursions rarely show this type of violence committed against children. You'll see some sinful teenagers hacked up by a guy in a hockey mask, sure, but not small children. On one hand, Category III films come closer to the horrors of real life by refusing to cut away when the most defenseless members of society run afoul of the criminal element. On the other hand, refusing to cut away makes the movie tough to watch.
"Run and Kill" is in many ways just as shocking as "The Untold Story." The film doesn't begin that way, though. Director Billy Tang starts us out slowly by introducing us to Fatty Cheung (Kent Cheng), a stout, happy go lucky sort of chap whose life seems wonderful. He owns his own gas supply business, is married to a beautiful woman, and has a young daughter he loves. Fatty is an amiable guy, whether he is chatting up people at work or bouncing his way down the street on the way home. Regrettably, Fatty arrives home from work one day to discover his wife in bed with another man. He's angry at first, but tends to blame himself just as much as he blames his spouse. What a guy, eh? Most of us would go nuclear on the spot. Fatty instead goes out to drink his blues away. While he stumbles around in an alcoholic haze, he strikes up a conversation with the vivacious Fanny (Esther Wing Ho Kwan), a lady with underworld connections. She introduces Fatty to someone who can take care of his pesky wife. Cheung is far too drunk to realize what's going on, but through a miscommunication he agrees to hire a gangster to kill his wife. Guess what happens next?
Not only does Fatty not remember much of what happened, he doesn't have the money to pay off the gangsters. Not paying a gang for a murder contract usually translates into another murder. His only alternative is to run off and hire another gang to defend him, this time a bunch of tough Vietnamese goons. A battle ensues between the two gangs when Fatty goes to a movie theater to pay off the first gang, with the Vietnamese coming out on the losing side. Fatty, Fanny, and one of the Vietnamese gang members end up in an abandoned airbase for a lengthy series of tortures involving a lead pipe. At least Fatty and Fanny get off easy; they sit at a desk and watch the Vietnamese guy hang from the ceiling in utter agony. Enter into the picture Fung (Simon Yam), a powerful killing machine linked intimately to the gang Fatty hired to save his bacon. He's a Vietnam War veteran whose interest in this abduction centers on the fact that the gang member hanging from the ceiling is his cousin. He swoops in, killing every Chinese thug in sight, and saves the day--almost. Fung's cousin perishes in the escape attempt, and now he blames Fatty for the man's death. Fung eventually abducts our hero's daughter in order to force a showdown with Fatty. And what a showdown it is!
Don't expect a happy ending in "Run and Kill." Yam's character does something so brutal, so unconscionable to Fatty's daughter that it's best left unsaid here. No one swoops in at the least minute to fulfill the obligatory happy Hollywood ending, not in this film. Instead, Fatty must become just as vicious and bloodthirsty as his enemy if he is to save his own life. By the end of the film, the main character is a far different man than the one we met at the beginning of the movie. "Run and Kill" forces us to contemplate what we would do if faced with a similar set of increasingly outrageous and extraordinarily unlucky circumstances. It would have been easy for Fatty to just fold up and give in to his tormentors, but he obviously has steel coursing through his veins when push comes to shove. We expect him to snap under the pressure based on what we know about him from the beginning of the film. An overweight, henpecked guy who blames himself for his wife's infidelity actually standing up to professional assassins? Stranger things have happened.
The only supplements on the disc are two trailers for films called "Memento" and "Prison on Fire." As far as picture quality goes, expect to be disappointed. "Run and Kill" looks bad, much like the film transfers for a couple of other Category III films distributed by the same company. Expect a lot of hazy, grainy scenes here. Moreover, many of the night scenes look quite murky. I don't know whether these problems are due to the film stock, the age of the movie, sloppy transfer work, or a combination of all three. Whatever the case, the poor picture takes away from the viewing experience. I'm still giving "Run and Kill" five stars, though. It's too over the top to do anything less.
a great category III film.......2003-11-29
run and kill is a title im sure that most of you are familiar with. if im correct it is the first film by "bad boy" billy tang and a great debut feature it is. the acting by simon yam is totally unforgettable (just look at the guys facial expressions very, very scary). he plays the best psychopath next to anthony wong. as for kent chengs part, he is likeable but up until the end isnt all that realistic due to the comedic overtones of his character in the beginning but during the climax it is almost a total transformation of character on his part (from a slapstick "fatty" to a dead serious but still very cowardly man who is fighting for his life). the plot is very simple and im not even going to bother describing it. this film definetly isnt for everyone as it has the obligatory rape scene (thank god its not as graphic as the one in the untold story) which is in almost every category III film as well as a little girl being immolated in front of her own dad in very authentic fashion (i cant say that it was fun to watch). i would have to say that the most memorable parts of the movie for me were of course simon yams character and his dont give a f*** who i have to kill to get revenge demeanor (dont forget about the guys facial expressions either their just plain unsettling) as well as "fatties" attempt to "rescue" his daughter after shes been sitting in a fire for the last 15 minutes and her charred body pumped full of lead by friendly mr yam at which point "fatty" picks his daughters unrecognisable corpse up and runs away with it only to break off her head on a wall to which he monotonly remarks "oh where did the head go"! you probably wont be seeing a scene like that in another film any time soon. you also have some very memorable fight scenes which include very realistic punches and kicks to bodies and heads (seeing "fatty" being thrown around like a 350 lbs. rag doll is quite entertaining too) you also get a granny being tossed out a window for your money. overall i think that this film was a solid offering as far as category III films go. it is a good starting point for the uninitiated as it isnt too disturbing but is definetly a film for the desensitised or those who watch these sort of films on a regular basis. i would also recommend dr. lamb (its much more disturbing and serious except for the cop humor) which also stars simon yam as the "taxi cab killer" and features his patented psycho antics and exceptionally frightening visage and expressions (kent cheng plays a cop in it too). theres not much more to say other than while watching this and all category III films keep in mind that they are from a different country with different sensibilities (they obviously dont have any restraint as far as killing children and the elderly for entertainment). they use these movies as an outlet for their daily stress and it obviously works so dont hold it against them if you end up seeing one and find it disturbing or your unable to watch it.

Chu Feng is on a mission to kill Jackie's family. She butchers everyone exept for Jackie, she falls in love with him and later saves his life by putting Jackie through a torturous trainning regimen so that Jackie can defend himself against some two-faced "friends". This film is chillingly violent!!!
Great film; awful, awful disc........2002-11-11
To Kill With Intrigue is a great little kung-fu movie; if you like the genre, you'll dig it. Mind you, this disc is so mind-numbingly awful that it's hard to watch. The video transfer is grainy and spotted, the audio fades in and out and pops, and just to add insult to injury, while the film has both english and cantonese audio, there are no subtitles; nor is there even a menu option to change the audio- it must be done manually.
Certainly worth the purchase if you can find it for [$$$] ...- good as the film itself is, this is low-quality enough that you shouldn't be expected to pay any more.
Only for Die Hard Jackie Chan Fans.......2001-08-06
Don't expect a lot from this film. Although it is better than some of Jackie's earlier films under his contract with Lo Wei (New Fist of Fury, The Killer Meteors, Dragon Fist, and many others), it's not that great. The acting is pretty dull throughout most of the movie. The entire film is so full of plot wholes and boring scenes, that you rarely care about what's happening. Most of the action is better than some of Jackie's other movies from the early 70s, but they still need lots of work. Although some of them are interesting, the action is way too slow to fully entertain any Jackie Chan fan. This film should only be seen if you want to complete your Jackie Chan collection.
Rent it-don't buy it!.......1999-06-30
This is one of those films Jackie Chan made under contract to Lo Wei, who was trying to squeeze him into Bruce Lee's mold. Unfortunately, in this film virtually everyone gets to beat the crud out of Jackie (even the girl!!)--how this was supposed to make him look like Bruce Lee, I don't know. The fights are poorly staged and badly filmed--in one fight Jackie just stands there and lets the other guy kick him in the head, then gets up and lets him do it again, over and over. Furthermore, in his attempts to look like Bruce, he just comes across as a mean SOB. The only humor here is of the unintentional kind--but there is loads of that-especially in the love story that runs parallel to the standard revenge plot. (There's the girl friend whose heart Jackie cruelly broke, but for whom he still pines, and there's the girl who loves Jackie, but beats him up and tortures him every chance she gets--yeah, it's weird!) That's the only reason I gave it any stars at all. If you are on a mission to see every movie Jackie Chan ever made, then this one is actually pretty entertaining, if only to marvel at how anyone could have dreamed that a little bow-legged, putty-nosed clown like Jackie Chan could ever have been another Bruce Lee!!
the finest jackie chan movie.......1999-05-12
Start your collection here. Youll love the kung fu, the costumes, and the storyline is classic. Jackie Chans skills will be tested by his most notorious enemies. Great character development full of surprizes!! Who is the fifth dragon? Who is the leader of the bloody rain clan? Kung fu magic. Devilmonk

Horrible Movie,Great Extra.......2006-08-03
Please only buy this if you are a Bruce Campbell fan. Why? A Great 5-Star Commentary to a 1-Star Movie.
Thou Shalt Watch This Flick.......2006-04-19
From the world of Raimi and Campbell comes this mid 80's cult gem right out of DETROIT MICHIGAN!!! Where do I begin with this unique blend of war stories, gore, low budget style, insanity and action? Now as much as I like this movie, I know some may not get it and that is natural since b-movies or cult films tend to appeal to a limited but open minded audience. For those who are into this type of cinema, you came to the right place and it doesn't get much better than this movie. I think the most important aspect of this film is Sam Raimi's performance as the morbidly deranged Charles Manson like cult leader. Everything from his motions right down to classic lines such as "Don't you ever touch the sacrificial fluids... okey dokey" as he delivers it in the film will make you say this is the guy who directed Spider Man? It's a bold mixture of humor and instability. This film is also another example of low budget appeal and style that you can not reproduce so it is for sure a great campy film for its time. Now the filming location is credited as being shot at Bruce Campbell's old residence but no other locations are listed so it got me thinking that the war sequences and cabin shots may have been shot way out in the suburbs? Northville Tunnels would have been a great filming location for some of the scenes (those of you from the Detroit area will know what I am talking about). Also, fans of Evil Dead and low budget horror will really dig this flick. By all accounts, that acting is cheese and some of the effects are what you expect of a low budget film but this is why cult film enthusiast like us love these type of films.
This Sucks.......2006-03-03
There is a difference between cheesy and just bad movie. The difference I like cheesy but the was cheesy ...except IT SUCKS. Not really too much to say about this movie bad acting, bad movie. My opinion you agree press the yes to helpful button. Thanks . If you don't agree with it don't you press that other button. Thou Shalt Not Like This Movie...Except the Ending.
Wonderful movie.......2005-10-02
I really enjoyed this movie. In fact, I believe it was one of the best movies I have ever seen. The sound mixing was excellent, along with the directing. kudos.
why bother..........2004-10-27
Are you kidding? I can't believe anyone with a brain would remotely suggest that this film has any type of viewing pleasure. Read the title... yes, that's right, no your not dreaming, read it again out loud... There, that should sum up why you should never give this film the time of day. I saw this film by mistake on television and literally have panic attacks at the thought of how much better off I would be if I hadn't. I could feel myself getting dumber with every second. Do I really need to say it? Ok, here it goes, don't waste your time. Then again, the fact that your here reading this review doesn't say much...
