5 out of 5 stars Wonderful.......2007-06-09

These three movies are the best. Talk about returning to your childhood. I loved TMNT and I was sad that I never saw much of them anymore. Now, I can watch them whenever I want. It's a great deal, well worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars Ninja Turtles boxset DVD.......2007-06-08

I love the turtles and nothing is better than having all three live action films in one boxset. Highly recommended for those turtle fans out there!!

5 out of 5 stars The nostalgic only need apply.......2007-06-06

TMNT 1: Nice and dark, had a slight tang of the comic books while staying kid-friendly (for the most part). Animatronics aren't so hot, but admit it -- you're not watching it for special effects anyway! The story is wonderfully goofy: basically setting up the TMNT vs. Shredder, but including such ridiculous themes as ninjas corrupting NYC's easily addled youth in a coordinated effort to steal wallets and random valuables (no doubt to add to Shredder's impressive wall of televisions). But don't let that turn you off... it's a fun flick because it's so delightfully campy, and you can't go wrong with it.

TMNT II: TMNT II is not as dark and contains about 90% more cheese than #1. This said, I enjoy TMNT 2 just as much as I enjoy TMNT 1, just for different reasons. Perhaps because it reminds me so strongly of the Saturday Morning cartoon -- it has such a good heart and is so ridiculous that you can't help but come away from it feeling pleasant. Better yet, I feel they tried to include all of the Turtles instead of focusing so much on Raphael. The humor hits the mark almost every time: who can forget lines like "Too Raph!", and how can one not erupt into laughter when a stunned Shredder is warmly embraced by his idiotic mutant cronies? The animatronics/suits look great -- they're easily the best looking in the trilogy. Can't go wrong with the simple story, either -- it hits the right key with some mutant mayhem in the forms of Tokka and Rahzar, mutants who Shredder creates to defeat the Turtles. The most important and enjoyable part: "Ninja Rap." Need I say more?

TMNT 3: I never watched this as a child. So when I got the 3-Pak in, I decided to try it out. Unfortunately, it's terrible enough to burn your eyes out: the animatronics/suits are downright awful (the Turtle suits look like they came out of one of those egg machines in the supermarket), the dialogue is goofy, the plot is cheap and idiotic - well, I guess if I were more subjective, I could say that about the other two movies, but at least those campy plots fit with who the TMNT were. This one departs from the TMNT with gusto: they are transported to feudal Japan (utterly out of their element -- part of what makes them interesting is the idea that they could be lurking unseen beneath your feet in a sewer somewhere), where they are accepted by a whole Japanese village with open arms (despite that much of their allure is that they are pariahs), and some villains who are goofy rather than threatening (come on: Shredder could rip your face off... Tokka and Rahzar could throw a 200-pound Turtle thirty feet in the air... and then in TMNT 3 you have a shrimpy daimyo with the wide-eyed gaze and shakes of a chihuahua and some pasty-faced gunrunner with finches). I would have felt cheated had I not realized that you're essentially paying only for TMNT 1&2. 3 was thrown in as a gag, I suppose.

Overall: 3 aside, this is a collection you can't do without. The nostalgic value alone is monumental. And the movies are still enjoyable for kids of all ages - ideal for passing on a little of that TMNT bug to future generations! Definitely a must-buy for any TMNT fan, young or old.

This movie is like most sequils to movies that we fell in love with... that is if you are a fan of the oh so awsome ninja turttles. The movie is mildly amussing with more ninja fighting and a rap scene with Vanilla Ice... what more could you ask for in a movie???

3 out of 5 stars ? ? ? .......2006-11-30

I bought this movie along with a 10inch size turtle it came together as a package i hope my 2 yr old son likes , i like it too bad im not a kid anymore lol . . .

5 out of 5 stars Well Done!.......2006-05-24

I am 23 years old and have been a fan of the Ninja Turtles since I watched the first episode on Saturday mornings when I was 8 or so. I recently purchased the first two movies because I knew I loved them, but for the life of me I could not remember much about the third one. I rented it today because I had read all of these reviews saying that the third movie was terrible and I did not wish to buy it if I was going to hate it.

My first impression as the movie began was that whoever designed the faces for the turtles, as well as splinter's puppet needed some help. As mentioned several times on this site, the costumes could have used quite a bit of work. It looked a little too Jim Henson (though I love the man).

However, after only a few moments I realized that I was laughing and enjoying myself just like I did when I was a kid watching the old show. Within the first 30 minutes I realized that I liked this movie almost more than the first one. Not only did this movie have cool visuals and great japanese costumes, but this one actually had a well developed plot. I liked the new villian and thought the actor who played him did a rather good job. His personality was different from Shredder's and gave something new to the Turtle trilogy. He was even funny at times. This movie expaneded on the turtle's personalities and allowed you to get to know them better. I don't know why people complained about the characters not acting like themselves because they acted like they should as far as I am concerned.

Concerning the plot involving time travel; I enjoyed it. Its fantasy after all. The turtles are mutants, and in the first movie the turtles make some sort of phsychic connection with Splinter. The cartoon itself was filled with Sci-Fi elements if anyone cares to look. I don't think that time travel was too far fetched by any means. It also presents something new and exciting for the Turtles. This film expaned the world of the turtles beyond the sewers and New York city.

I think that one should take this movie for what it is and not concern yourself with what it is not. If you want dark and gritty, then watch Batman or the X-Men. You cannot take yourself too seriously when you are watching a movie about walking, talking, fighting mutant turtles. I loved the Turtles because not only were they heroes, but they were funny. To me, this movie had that sense of joy that the old cartoons had, and I believe this movie was well written and well done, despite the obvious flaws in the puppets and the ending being a little weak.

5 out of 5 stars still a good movie........2005-12-12

i don't think 1993 was a very good year for this movie to come out but it's better than the mario movie right? that one stunk really bad i think but this one is great.

5 out of 5 stars ok so what if it didn't do anything like the old show??.......2005-09-29

it took an original path far far away from the old show and hey they didn't agree as much!! i hated that part of the old show and the new show took that comic book route so what? they're still good just watch it seperately! and there's supposed to be a number 4 in 2007!!
