A true B thriller.......2007-01-14
Ok, this wasn't the best movie and it wasn't the worst either. I was getting the feeling that the black cadillac was a paranormal vehicle until it was revieled that it wasn't. It did remind me of the movies Christine and Dead End but was a little different. I was also wondering through the whole movie where in WI this took place. I live here and was just curious. The movie was scarey and funny at times. I recommend this movie to someone that likes a thriller that is not gorey.
Duel With Christine.......2005-11-24
WARNING: possible spoilers ahead
Going by Black Cadillac, you'd think it was impossible to make a good scary road movie. But what about THE HITCHER? Or even more recent is the surprisingly effective DEAD END, which I've recommended highly on this site. It's definitely possible to make a good scary road thriller, but Black Cadillac is not one of them.
Randy Quaid is the only thing that saves this movie from being much more than a rotting pile of road kill. The story centers on three underage guys who make their way across the state line to get drunk and hopefully get laid. One of the trio is a smartass with a weird scar on his face who continually pops Pez candy through the whole movie. I love those quirky characters. Nothing screams B-level thriller like an intentionally quirky character.
Scarface Pez Eater gets into a fight at the bar, which causes our trio to go on the run before any of them can get lucky with the ladies. The local hicks chase them out into the parking lot and throw bottles at their car as our heroes make their escape.
Pretty soon, a mysterious black Cadillac starts following them. There are some decent chase scenes through the snow, with this demonic black Cadillac chasing our boys. Reminded me a little of Christine or even The Car. But after about twenty minutes of this cat and mouse routine, it starts to get a little boring. So, enter Randy Quaid as a stranded Law Dog.
Our boys pick up Randy, who instantly becomes the Mysterious Oracle in the Back Seat, spouting crude jokes and words of wisdom with equal enthusiasm. His presence in the car causes all the requisite dirty little secrets to come to the surface. We come to find out that all three of our boys have skeletons in their closet, things that they don't like to talk about. The big reveal is that one the boys slept with Randy Quaid's wife and ruined his marriage.
If you've seen Angel Heart, you'll probably be able to figure out that Sheriff Randy planned this whole evening as a really long, boring, drawn out way of getting his revenge against the pipsqueak who stole his woman. He could have just confronted the kid at the beginning of the movie and saved me 90 minutes of my life.
this is a great movie.......2005-10-10
u guyes got to remember that this was a true story this is how it when i loved it to tell u the truth i want to be in something like that same set up and everything just to see what i would of did and the dude that said this was a joyride wannabe dude remember they didnt sit down and make this up like joyride this was based on a TRUE STORY so i would tell anybody that likes road trips and likes them scary then this is the one i mean the movie company was cheap and all but the story and how life like it was they did a good job
The Worst...........2005-10-03
Some really bad movies are fun to watch. This isn't. A quarter of the way through the movie I was praying that the Black Cadillac would catch up with our "heroes" and swiftly kill them. It didn't. This movie's a real life turd.
A pretty good thriller..........2005-09-27
I began watching Black Cadillac not knowing what to expect. For some reason I was thinking it was a supernatural/paranormal thriller type movie... And was very surprised when it turned out not to be.
Overall, the story is good and the movie well acted. As almost everyone else has mentioned, the only actor I recognized was Randy Quaid. That doesn't mean it's not a good movie though. You have to give new actors on low budget movies a chance, you know? I agree with the person who stated that Josh Hammond stole the show. I also thought he was great.
My only issue with the movie was that I thought it took too long to reveal why the Black Cadillac was chasing them. I started to get bored by the time the real action started to take place... My attention was recovered, though, and I stayed well tuned in for the rest of the movie. While I think more could have been done with this movie, it was still good. I recommend for anyone who enjoys thriller/suspense movies.

Great Made for TV Movie.......2007-06-14
I loved this the first time I saw it on Broadcast TV. I'm very glad I was able to locate it on DVD! Clint and Lisa Hartman Black act well off eachother. Great Movie based on a true story!
Movie was personal for me, since they were friends.......2005-07-05
I lived in Texas during the time this movie took place and Tommy was actually a friend. They made him a small child for the movie, but he was in high school when Jack was incarcerated. His wife Shelia was one of my best friends. I wish they'd shown in the credits that it was Jack and Ponder's son Tommy who played the jury foreman that pronounced Jack "Not Guilty!".
The heartache and frustrations during the time Jack was away was real. You can just imagine if it'd happend to you.
You can see some of their real family members behind Lisa and Clint in the courtroom scenes and also in the rodeo crowds.
Jack needs to be inducted into the Cowboy Hall of Fame. He earned it!
