Gene Hackman and Matt Dillon play a typical (if unlikely) father and son, at odds over the usual generational stuff. Then Gayle Hunnicutt, as the wife and mother, disappears--and suddenly Sonny Boy discovers something he never knew about stuffy old Dad: that he's actually a retired government agent who's pretty handy with a gun and more than willing to waste whoever gets in his way as he tries to get his wife back alive. They bounce around Europe in pursuit, with the kid getting in Dad's way, in a plot that winds up chasing its own tail. Hackman and director Arthur Penn were much more effective a decade earlier when they made Night Moves. --Marshall Fine

Released amidst rumors of romance between costars Angelina Jolie and soon-to-be-divorced Brad Pitt, Mr. and Mrs. Smith offers automatic weapons and high explosives as the cure for marital boredom. The premise of this exhausting action-comedy (no relation to the 1941 Alfred Hitchcock comedy starring Carole Lombard and Robert Montgomery) is that the unhappily married Smiths (Pitt and Jolie) will improve their relationship once they discover their mutually-hidden identities as world-class assassins, but things get complicated when their secret-agency bosses order them to rub each other out. There's plenty of amusing banter in the otherwise disposable screenplay by Simon Kinberg (xXx: State of the Union, Fantastic Four), and director Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity) gives Pitt and Jolie a slick, glossy superstar showcase that's innocuous but certainly never boring. It could've been better, but as an action-packed summer confection, Mr. and Mrs. Smith kills two hours in high style. --Jeff Shannon

Mr. & Mrs. Smith Movie.......2007-07-02
This movie is entertaining and a good watch the first time. I bought it because I enjoyed it so much in theaters, but the second time all the suspense was gone, so definitely not a movie you can enjoy over and over again.
For a good time..........2007-06-13
Check this movie out. It's not one of those deep, inspirational movies that will make you think. This movie is just a simple, fun, action packed movie to sit and enjoy.
It has the right mix of action, comedy, and the bit of romance that is shown and needed to enhance the story. The main characters are portrayed by two people that seem to fit those characters perfectly (Pitt, Jolie) and the small role played by Vince Vaughn is just pure comedy relief at the perfect moments.
I recommend this movie for just the pure fun time it is. Yes it can seem slightly boring and drag on at times, but what movie doesn't?
LOVE IT.......2007-06-04
I LOVE this movie!!!!this movie has everything. Action, comedy & drama. Mr. & Mrs. Smith is about Mr. Smith played by Brad Pitt and Mrs. Smith played by Angelina Jolie so Mr. & Mrs. Smith are married. Neither one knows what the other really does for a living until they are both hired to the same Job. As both of them go after the same guy, they both discover that they work in the same kind of job. Now if i say any more you will find out what happens. if you want to know how it ends GET the movie......
A Guilty Pleasure.......2007-06-03
I hate to say it but `Mr. & Mrs. Smith' was entertaining, to a point.
The sheer fact that anything involving Brad Pitt or and Angelina Jolie could be remotely watchable is in itself a great achievement. I cannot think of a couple on earth I hate more. OK maybe Benifer.
With decent editing, lighting and cameras which stay in focus, `Mr. & Mrs. Smith' far surpasses most films of the year.
Although the actors are pathetic, the plot is intriguing. Married assassins target each other. The first 30 minutes are a poorly edited hodgepodge of flashbacks intended to set the premise of a yuppie couple each working as assassins without the other one knowing, but which leave us totally confused. If not for the trailer's synopsis we would have no idea what the hell is going on.
The plot does start to take off when Pitt and Jolie's rival agencies target each other. This provides us with an amusing and exciting series of scenes with the two arguing while trying to blow each up via, RPGs, machine pistols, and vehicle chases.
Ultimately Pitt and Jolie Team up to take a stand against their shadow agencies. Nothing is explained as to why these intelligence franchises which put 007's Royal Navy and CTU to shame would go to such extremes to assassinate their own agents and then simply give up allowing them to live normal lives. But by the end we are not expecting too much. In fact nothing is explained as to who or what these agencies are. The only other employees we see are Vince Vaughn for some comic relief and a brief voice cameo by Keith David.
Why it worked: Well I guess you have to be a 2nd Amendment nut like me to appreciate Jolie using a pump shotgun, MP5K, and an M4 Carbine all at once to kill her husband. There are some impressive action scenes with some impressive weapons. They really like HKs. Although 9mm are out of date. The final action sequence involves the two using Glock 18s with custom nickel slides. The same kind on `24's season finale.
In conclusion, the movie is fun to a point if even a Pitt Jolie hater like me could stand them anyone can.

Overall, the film was a good action movie for me. It was comical too, and I can't say that it's not enjoyable. However, my only thought is that there are waaay too many unnecessary deaths depicted in this movie.
I know that that's how movies are now nowadays and I'm not at all against it, but good action flicks usually justify a sub-character's death; this film doesn't feel like it does. The fact that the traditional action-flick henchmen are replaced by government agents (who are probably actually the real good guys) and are continuously killed doesn't really help comfort me as I watch them all get shot, stabbed, run over, etc. . . It would have been fun to watch if I could only imagine that all those people were mindless thugs following the orders of a main antagonist, but their actual identity and part in the story makes it uneasy for me to watch. . . Even though it's only fiction.
If you look at it from perspective, the Smiths are really just cold blooded killers. I don't care that their fighting for their survival. There's no way that justifies killing about a hundred government agents.

What can I say?.......2007-05-30
This movie scared the hell out of me when I was a little kid. Is there any other service for a B movie like this? The dark elements of the woman being suicidal, etc. made it even creepier, for a 50's horror movie. I can see it being re-made, sort of Independence Day mixed with Night of the Living Dead, only the zombies would be robots. I think I'm having an Ed Wood moment...
A little below the usual B-movie standard.......2007-02-16
I hate to come down on B-movies. Even though a lot of people think they're cheesy and cheap, I feel they project a certain creativity. "It! The Terror from Beyond Space" (1958), "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla" (1974)--but not "Target Earth" (1954) as much.
The plot and concept were perfect, in theory. A city has been evacuated due to the invasion of robots, most likely from Venus. A few stragglers must battle their way to freedom and safety.
However, the only sci-fi element used in the film was a robot--who represented a whole army of them. No spaceships--blurry laser beams and hollow acting.
"Target Earth" (1954) isn't that bad. If my copy didn't work any more, then I'd still buy another.
Old Fashion Sci Fi.......2006-11-04
I enjoyed this movie years ago when I was younger. Believe it or not it is still as good as I remember. Suspense, bad acting, crummy special effects. This is how movies were made back then without all the flash and gore this is still a good movie.
Target Earth - Not a Classic, but deserves a chance........2006-09-01
While Target Earth may not be a well known, classic Sci-Fi movie, it certainly gives a decent swing at the genre. Being Herman Cohen's first solo-produced film, Target Earth most definately IS science fiction. The plot of the film is one of the most frightening and classic ideas in the anals of sci-fi - that of the Earth being invaded by beings from another world. The threat in Target Earth, however, is an encroaching vanguard of robots which precede the actual alien invasion. A novel idea indeed. The acting in TE is good, with Richard Denning (Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Day the World Ended, The Black Scorpion) cast as the hero.
If you enjoy watching and collecting classic sci-fi from the 1950s, then Target Earth will make an excellent addition to your DVD library.
"Denning...Crowley...Grey...Reeves ~ Target Earth (1954)...Herman Cohen".......2006-09-01
VCI Home Video and Allied Artists presents "TARGET EARTH: (1954) (75 mins B&W) . . . under Sherman A. Rose (Director / Editor), Herman Cohen (Producer), Kay Rose (Producer), Paul Fairman (Book Author - based upon the story "Deadly City"), Bill Raynor (Screenwriter), James Nicholson and Wyott Ordung (original screenplay), Guy Roe (Cinematographer), Paul Dunlap (Composer (Music Score), David Koehler (Special Effects), Stanley Orr (makeup), Morris Hoffman (set decorator), James Sullivan (art director) --- cast includes Richard Denning (Frank), Kathleen Crowley (Nora), Virginia Grey (Vicki), Richard Reeves (Jim), Robert Roark (Wilson), Mort Marshall (Charles Otis), Arthur Space (General), Whit Bissell (Scientist), House Peters, Jr. (Technician), Jim Drake (Lieutenant), Gaylord "Steve" Pendleton (Colonel) . . . . . . our story thus follows raw panic, an astounding science fiction drama of a deserted metropolis and the frenzied few who were left behind...our cast of survivors living day and night in incredible terror, mixed with uncivilized violence in the savage battle for survival against the horror of the fantastic unknown... this very early film in the genre of science fiction uncovers our silent thoughts, is it possible for aliens from another world to invade our planet...much to ponder as this wonderful script with top notch performances by Richard Denning, Kathleen Crowley, Virginia Grey and Richard Reeves pull us into the story and give us a thriller to remember for days...remember this is a '50s sci-fi when we were still young and innocent, films of this nature was thought provoking and entertaining.

Specal footnote, producer Herman Cohen (August 27, 1925 - June 2, 2002) was a producer of B-movies during the 1950s, who helped to popularize the teen horror movie genre with films like the cult classic "I Was a Teenage Werewolf" (1957)...his motion picture career began at his local cinema, the Dexter Theater in Detroit, during his preteen years; he worked there as a "gofer" and later as an usher...his next stop was assistant manager of Detroit's Fox Theater. After a Marine Corps hitch, Cohen worked as sales manager for the Detroit branch of Columbia Pictures, then relocated to Hollywood and worked in the publicity department of Columbia there. He produced his first movies for Jack Broder's Realart Pictures in the early 1950s and made several subsequent pictures for Allied Artists and United Artists. Cohen made exploitation history in the mid-1950s when he began producing some of American International's earliest hits, among them the cult favorite "I Was a Teenage Werewolf." (1957) featuring unknown horror actor Michael Landon as a troubled teenager and Whit Bissell as the primary adult. It was written and produced by cult film producer Herman Cohen, it was made on a very low budget but grossed as much as US$2,000,000 per week in its early weeks of release, and was one of the most successful films released by AIP (American International Pictures)..Herman Cohen's filmography, The Bushwhackers (1952), Kid Monk Baroni (1952), Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla (1952), Battles of Chief Pontiac (1952), River Beat (1954), Target Earth (1954), Magnificent Roughnecks (1956), Dance with Me Henry (1956), The Brass Legend (1956), Crime of Passion (1957), I Was a Teenage Werewolf (1957), I Was a Teenage Frankenstein (1957), Blood of Dracula (1957), How to Make a Monster (1958), Horrors of the Black Museum (1959), The Headless Ghost (1959), Konga (1961), Black Zoo (1963), A Study in Terror (1965), Berserk! (1968), Django il bastardo (1969), Crooks and Coronets (1969), Trog (1970), Craze (1973), Gatto dagli occhi di giada, Il (1977)...In the 1960s and 1970s, he began producing horror films in the United Kingdom, working with such stars as Joan Crawford in "Berserk"! and "Trog" and Jack Palance in Craze. In 1961, he returned to his roots in Detroit purchasing the Fox Theater he had worked for in his youth. By the late 1970s, Cohen was working more in writing and distribution than in film production. He founded Cobra Media, a domestic distribution company, in 1981. Cohen died of throat cancer June 2, 2002.

Fantastic targeted workout option!.......2007-06-22
I'm returning to a fitness lifestyle, so I'm considering myself a beginner--and this DVD is great for beginners. You have the option of creating your own personalized 10- to 50- minute workout, which I find very helpful. I work two of the target areas and the power stretch every other day, and I work the other two target areas on the odd days.
I especially enjoyed the arms segment, although I feel it's a little short, so I often do it twice.
I found the glutes section to be very challenging! It's really great in conjunction with the ab workout.
The instructor is very perky (to the point of Barbie doll perky), which not everyone will enjoy, but I thought she was very upbeat and encouraging.
This DVD is something you can jump right into and work up to, or something you can use to warm up with as you advance your fitness level. I truly enjoy using this one!
Just okay.......2007-05-07
On the plus side, there's a minimum of equipment. In fact, you only need hand weights for the Arms segment, and the workouts are indeed mostly beginner. (Some true beginners may have difficulty with some moves, such as modified push-ups.) It's also a bit slow and repetitive, but if you've never worked out before, you may appreciate that. It's also not overly perky or chatty, so it doesn't get annoying.
That said, what bothered me was the time breakdown devoted to the workouts. If you divided the entire DVD into upper and lower body workouts, it'd come out to:
Thighs and butt: 20 minutes
Chest, arms, and back: 10 minutes
Abs: 10 minutes
Stretch: 10 minutes
Given that women generally have less upper body strength than they do in their legs, a total of 10 minutes for all three of those muscle groups was a bit disappointing. Not a bad DVD for getting started those first 3 weeks or so, but once you've broken in your muscles, I'd recommend looking elsewhere for a more balanced workout - even for the time-crunched.
Just turn down the sound..........2007-04-10
I like having 10-minute sets of toning exercises to add on after my longer cardio workout. The exercises here are as challenging as you make them, but possible even for a beginner. The instructor, though, annoys the heck out of me! Too perky, seems almost condescending to me. After I learned thre basic routine, though, I was able to just turn down the sound and listen to something else while I worked.
10 Minute Solution.......2007-02-21
I enjoy using this exercise DVD. It fits in well with my lifestyle. I can work out for as little as 10 minutes or as much as 50 minutes. The streching workout is great for relaxing anytime. I've recommened this DVD and others in the series to coworkers.
Really enjoyable.......2007-01-28
The workouts are do-able on the first try, and all of them give you a nice burn without overworking you. There are things you can do to adjust the difficulty level, but I really enjoy it. The 10-minute segments are a great way to work your whole body without sacrificing too much time that you don't or can't have. I really like the instructor, Cindy Whitmarsh. Yes, she has to encourage you, but i think she's just funny in a very normal-person-trying-to-be-encouraging kind of way, perhaps a little fake, but she has to be, she's a fitness teacher on a dvd. And have you ever seen Denise Austen?
Anyway, it's a good workout, worth having, definately recommend it, easy to implement in your day. I especially like the abs and buns workout, but the legs are good too. I haven't gotten a chance to buy handweights, but i've done the arm exercises without them and they're really good. If you do all 4 segments with the power stretch at the end, it's a very good workout.

Description
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie smolder in one of the most anticipated, sizzling action films ever made. After five (or six) years of vanilla-wedded bliss, ordinary suburbanites John and Jane Smith (Pitt and Jolie) are stuck in a rut the size of the Grand Canyon?until the truth comes out! Unbeknownst to each other, they are both coolly lethal, highly paid assassins working for rival organizations. And when they discover they're each other's next target, their secret lives collide in a spicy, explosive mix of wicked comedy, pent-up passion, nonstop action and high-tech weaponry that gives an all-new meaning to "Till death do us part!"

Mr.
One thought........2007-05-26
There's no way that justifies killing about a hundred government agents.

post baby C-section - great results!!!.......2007-05-10
I had two babies in two years and two c-sections. Needless to say, I had a lot of work ahead of me in order to flatten out my tummy. I am happy to say that one year and two months after my baby was born - I have a pretty flat belly!! woo-hoo. The ab section on this video is the best ab workout I have ever done. I did this daily for about 6 months after my baby was born and then I switched it up and did other videos - worked out at the gym and so forth - well I lost all the baby weight and some more! About 6 weeks ago, I came back to this video and the results are amazing!!! GET THIS VIDEO !!!
Love the workout, but not the drums.......2007-02-05
I love this workout, but the drum music gives me a headache. I wish there was an option to workout without the music and use my own. J.K. does a great job as usually making an interesting workout, but I just can't get over the drum beat thing. The "live" music could have been fun if they would have toned it down. She almost has to yell over the sound.
Try Jennifer Kries' Pilates Method: Precision Pilates instead. That is unless you'd like an hour of drum beats.
This DVD is a MUST!!!! .......2006-09-07
I've been studying pilates and gyrotonics for six years with some of the top instructors in NYC but with the increasing popularity of pilates, the sessions have gotten absurdly expensive, which is why I wanted to try a DVD. I have never been one to work out in my home, but ths is truly an amazing workout and not only have I saved so much money by doing this DVD instead of my beloved studio sessions, but I'm able to incorporate it into my busy schedule and do it much more often than I ever could with the sessions.
As the reviews before me have indicated, the DVD is broken up into four segments that each target a specific area, but I think that's slightly misleading. While about sixty or seventy percent of the exercises in each section do target the area they are labeled under, each section also contains a variety of stretches and counter-workouts as well, which make for a more overall workout, whether you're doing one section or four at a time. For instance, in the section entitled "abs" you'll also find exercises that strengthen the back muscles and legs. Therefore, you're able to get a lot of variety and a great overall workout!
******NOTE: I recommend this highly for intermediates and advanced students of pilates, but NOT for beginners!!! In order to do these exercises correctly, you must know the basic pilates foundation such as pelvic placement, breathing techniques, and proper alignment. If you are attempting these exercises as a beginner, they may seem straightforward, but without the proper foundation and knowledge (which is NOT explained), you may not be doing the exercises properly and worse, could get hurt.*******
For those who are newer to pilates, I would recommend perhaps watching the video first, as it moves at what I would consider a fast intermediate pace.
Return to this video time and time again.......2006-08-23
I absoutly love this dvd. I recieved it as a gift from my mother, after the birth of my first child. I did this DVD in part or whole 3 times a week combined with walking. I lost all 60 pounds of baby weight. I absolutly love this DVD and have noticed changes in my body since I started using it for workouts. That was 3 years ago. Now I teach pilates and often refer back to this DVD for moves to introduce to my class. I have also lent out this DVD for a number of friends to try before they purchase their own. My friends alway rave about it.
Amazing Blend of Pilates, Yoga and Dance exercises........2006-06-11
I just did Jennifer Krie's Target Specifics and I really enjoyed it, I got a great workout and was dripping with sweat by the time I was done with it.
While this is a program that is designed so that it can be done in 15 minute self contained increments, I was curious to see how it would be to do it as one long session with very short breaks between sections.
The individual sections were certainly excellent in and of themselves and can easily benefit someone who is pressed for time but wants to get some Pilates/Yoga and some Ballet type exercises in.
The format of the program is so well explained by other reviewers I won't rehash all that they have laid out so well.
You don't need much to do this program, just a Yoga or Pilates type mat and a set of very light hand weights. I must admit that at first I thought that using those light weights wouldn't do much, but now I can see that the point is about having fluidity of motion with control, as well as awareness of the core. The weights just create a gentle resistance to the movement. I had to get past the mindset of my old weight training days in order to appreciate the value of using light weights through these various ranges of motion.
As a relatively uncoordinated (in terms of dance movements) 46 year old male, I found the ballet type moves that are incorporated in the third section to be something that will really help me with my balance. The movements weren't that hard to grasp and were an interesting challenge.
If someone has never done Pilates or Yoga before they should probably start with something that explains the basics of those disciplines. Stott Pilates Basics is a great program for Pilates and Yoga Zone Basics is a great place to start with Yoga.
Once you have an idea of the fundamentals of those approaches then you will at least have some background in which to try this program. It moves fast and fluidly without much explanation so you will want to have some experience before trying this.
Highly recommended!

The powers of the Royal Family of Jurai come to the fore as the third Tenchi OVA reaches its conclusion (although there's a seventh episode yet to come). The initial plot about finding a Jurian bride for Tenchi basically stops and two new stories begin. In the first, Mihoshi's addled brother Misao leaps to the conclusion that her affection for Tenchi means she's in the thrall of a base seducer. He prepares to attack the Earth to take out his "foe," but doesn't realize that Wasshu, Ryoko, and the Jurian princesses should never be discounted. Who knew that the beads holding Sasami's long ponytails concealed a weapon? Episode 6 pits Tenchi against Z, the creation of Tsunami, Washu and a new character, Tokimi, who wants to destroy the entire universe. This story concludes before it really begins, but when Tenchi's involved, there's always more excitement just around the corner. The extras include a two-part "Real Tenchi Tour" of sites in the Okayama prefecture that served as models for the series. The Tour also reveals the source of some of the characters' names: Sasami from nearby Sami Beach and Tenchi's grandfather from Mount Yosho. (Rated TV PG, suitable for ages 12 and older: brief nudity, cartoon violence, minor risqué humor, alcohol use) --Charles Solomon

Target - Your Wallet!.......2007-06-10
This new OVA series was billed as the continuation and completion of the original 26 episode OVA of Tenchi Muyo, one of my favorite anime series of all time, but a series that was marred by a continued release of movies and TV shows that were abominations that adulterated and trampled the original Tenchi concept into the dirt. Will this new series live up to its promise and satisfy us Tenchi fans?
Apparently not.
Each episode on this set, though of excellent production value, introduces a new character into the Tenchi cannon - a wife for Tenchi's grandfather (where has she been the last 12 years, eh?) Misao (Sasami's shy gal pal from the Pretty Sami series) is brought back in name only, as Mihoshi's incestuous brother! No wonder the poor girl is so messed up... and then a new super-villain named "Z" shows up. And, once again, the story focuses on these new additions to the Tenchi family at the expense of Ayeka, Rhyoko and Sasami. And none of these character have the charm and personality of the original cast. I found myself annoyed and thinking "enough of this, get back to Sasami and Ayeka". Sasami is pretty much a fifth wheel in all these episodes. Ryokho is, again, edgier - possibly to appeal to a "modern" audience - and the villains - Z espeically - are much darker and "edgier". Revelations are made regarding Tsunami/Sasami, Washu, and Tokimi, which are about the only thing that ties these three episodes back to the original OVA. And, for some reason, the new series is only 7 episodes long, rather than 13 - and those seven episodes are divided up on three DVDs - 3 on the first, 3 on the second and only one episode on the third set. Certainly four episodes could have fit on the first disk, and the final three on this second disk. The verdict? Tenchi is not the Target after all, but your wallet. Will the final disk fulfil the promise made of completing the original OVA. If they continue to introduce new characters at the expense of the old, I sincerely doubt it. If you are a hardcore fan of the original Tenchi OVAs you will probably want to pick this up, but also be prepared to be annoyed by the neglect heaped on the original story and cast. But, at least, it's not set in a new "alternate" Tenchi universe, which is about the only thing in its favor thus far. The series has one episode left to redeem itself.
A classic is ruined!!!.......2007-03-11
Storyline is weak and not consistent with past episodes. Very disappointing.
Better than the last, but still loaded with problems.......2007-02-18
From the start the episodes take a turn for the good with a serious, though at times funny, story to it. Then we get a look into the Masaki household to see everything's back to the norm, for the most part. Noike makes a better presence at the beginning, though still has this annoying air of perfection about her. Things quickly turn, however, when Misao, Mihoshi's brother, attacks. The scenes are more hilarious than action-packed (most of the action is actually told rather than shown to us which isdisappointing) with Ryoko being the star of the show. It's strange seeing Sasami beating up a supposedly combat-hardened warrior, though. Methinks that could've been handled better.
The episodes quickly take a turn for the worse when everyone (sans Ryoko and Tenchi) start acting like Mihoshi on a sugar trip and feel like playing matchmaker during a rather serious situation. From there the main characters are all glossed over to focus on Misao and his love interest, develop these characters and have them fall in love. It's useless, really. Both characters were only introduced an episode ago, they/re the only ones getting screen time for half the episode and neither is especially likeable nor has an interesting past to delve into, yet it still happens. A potentially serious and good story was thrown away for a shoddily and quickly made love story.
Introduced to the cast as well in these first two episodes is Lady Seto, the devil princess who shows us nothing which lives up to her name. The woman is mild and kind, playing matchmaker and generally being underwhelming. The woman brings nothing to the table. No plot points, no comedy, no personality. She's given screen time for nothing. On the other hand everyone else, aside from Noike, Sasami, Washu and Ryo-ohki, suffers. Tenchi and Ayeka are giving disturbingly little screen time, especially Tenchi, while Mihoshi is relegated to ditzy matchmaker. Ryoko is better off than the previous three episodes, but she is still made this mild character who is quick to be other new character's *****. I don't remember her ever really backing down before, but she does it now all the time and it's a rather disturbing trait. Other than that she gets ample screen time and is central to the funnier moments in the episodes.
The third episode gets space of it's own as it's really the standout of the new OVA. Z comes and the goddesses are explained. This is by far the best episode of the new OVA, though that's not saying much. Z remains a genuinely interesting character I wish we could see more of. The girls are glassed over again, though it's understandable as they're little more than pawns while it takes place. Despite the information revealed and the great character interaction, however, the episode is still very flawed. For one, it was rushed. It should've been made into two episodes, but it wasn't so a lot of things which could've been made better or explained more weren't. The actual battle with Z is underwhelming, as is the appearances of the three goddesses. The info expplained is difficult to take in and also a little underwhelming when we figure out what the heck's going on. I also don't like how, while the other helpless girls are barely even backgorund scenery, Noike still seems to get special attention even though she brings nothing to the table. On the other hand, it's good to see Ryoko as brash and aggressive as we've seen her. In the end it's a great, if rushed and underwhelming, episode.
Voice acting is better than the last three episodes with Tenchi sounding himself again, Noike fitting in a little bit more and nearly everyone else remaining good. Ryoko takes a turn for the worst, however, with a voice which ends up sounding forced. The animation is pretty smooth with a bit too many of the crazier anime tendencies for my taste, but generally pretty good.
In the end, very flawed and not much compared to the first two OVAs, but much better than the previous three episodes.
One word: disappointing.......2007-01-08
The first two Tenchi Muyo OAV series are amongst my favorite animé, and if I've soldiered on to buying this DVD (and the third one) is mainly a form of respect towards those two series, for of its own merit, this DVD and its two others are not worth the purchase. Forget character development, the makers have decided it was better to throw in a high number of characters and give them but minimal time to flesh out their personalities, which also results in the main characters becoming but background colors for the most part of the series. What made the strength of the original series was the mix between comedy, romance and drama, however in this series, there is no mix, it's generally all a big joke all the way (and generally unfunny), even supposedly serious confrontations turn out to be completely harmless situations as the episodes progress. This is true except for the third episode on this DVD which contains the only time that the situation isn't 100% anticipated or controlled by powerful benevolent figures. The serious story in here seems to have lost all sense of scale, going even beyond DBZ-level, which instead of increasing the series' drama, instead kills it by coming to ridiculous levels.
In short, the story blows... big time. Some ideas that were interesting can be detected, but their treatment was so bad that nothing grows out of it. The production level surrounding it, making it without a doubt the most attractive Tenchi Muyo series, seems wasted.
Weak two episodes - mind blowing end!.......2006-11-12
Unfortunately I have to agree with a previous reviewer.
After all this story building up from the first OVA this second one consists of 3 episodes approximately 100 minutes long (total).
The first two episodes fall more into the category of slap stick comedy and in general do not provide us with much (story) background of the final battle of the third episode.
After the two episodes are over, the third one is one of the best of the entire Tenchi series and hell brakes loose as Z tries to kill Tenchi and during the battle they blow away (literally) the moon, earth, galaxies and so forth (unfortunately, I cannot say much more or how the battle will end otherwise I will give everything away, sorry guys).
To be honest, I love the Tenchi series and everything about it but I was expecting a lot more, from this OVA, something that did not come in the end. On the other hand, the final episode has everything but it just lasted for about thirty minutes. You see, in this episode it is not just the battle that is going on but you will also see what the characters are all about, like Tsunami. Furthermore, you will be given so much information and explanations that in feels a little bit rushed to do in only thirty minutes. If the OVA would be in the spirit of the last episode (and maybe longer) than this DVD would get ten stars straight.
Therefore, my recommendation is this: If you are a huge fan of Tenchi or just want to complete your Tenchi collection so far etc. than buy it. If on the other hand, you are someone who loves to watch anime than rent it; either way, and to be honest, buying it or not is entirely left up to you to decide.
As for the dub and music it is very well orchestrated and very good.
The animation is astonishing and even upgraded that the first OVA.
As for the extras: Non credit opening / ending, art work, previews of other anime series etc.
Well,
I hope that I could help... ^_^

Great supplement to gym workout.
I received it in a timely fashion, and it works perfectly.
My favorite work outs.......2007-04-10
This DVD is great. I actually got these on VHS in the mid 90's so it's good to know I can purchase both Abs and Buns on the same dvd. The workouts are great for both the abs and buns however I think the buns might be harder to do then Abs. But I feel great when I work out to Both and I always notice nice changes to my body as I continue the work outs on a weekly bases!

I guess it was a good work out over all, but its NOT for beginners. I'm in pretty good shape I just needed to tone up a little and this work out is hard-core. I couldn't do more more then 5 minutes at a time. Maybe that's just me, but I wouldn't recamend it to anyone starting out.
ok if you're an 80's beginner, but not great.......2006-11-13
See the other reviews about the BUNS section.
Here's what I think about the ABS section:
If you are a beginner that likes eighties music(Gloria Estefan, Madonna, etc), then you may want to give this video a try. Otherwise don't waste your time and money
(Instead, I would recommend the much more effective "Firm Parts 5-Day Abs" and "more 5 day abs".)
This Buns of Steel video is very boring. The motions don't really fit the songs they picked, so it feels like you're doing a few randomly timed moves to cheesy background music.
This video isn't that intense of a workout (even though the instructor claims that this is the toughest ab workout in the world). There aren't that many reps of any particular movement, and there is also a lot of time wasted doing motions that don't work the abs.
For example, it starts out with about 10 minutes of doing Marching in place & Step-Touches (while flinging arms), interspersed with several random squats and lunges.
Then there is about 20 minutes of the following (overall not that intense, unless you are a beginner):
Leg lifts in front while standing up (this works the hip flexors more than the abs)
Crunch variations
Bridge position and lift 1 leg up (this is a great butt exercises, but doesn't do much for the abs)
Reverse crunch
Push ups
Lift body facing floor (I don't see how this works the abs or any other muscles for that matter)
Plank
Leg lifts while laying down (works hip flexors and front of thighs)
Oblique twists w/ Bicycle legs
Leg lifts w/ crunch
Oblique twist
Side leg kick (this is a great hip exercise)
It ends with a few stretches.
Great for abs, NOT for buns.......2006-07-07
I tried this because i Wanted a DVD, not VHS, but just ordered another copy of buns of steel with greg smithy on VHS. I almost don't want to give away the secret, but greg has much much better and intense bun excersises than this workout could ever offer. All Robin does is sway her head back and forth and say "come on" while she just does squats over and over and over. Watch out for your knees because you could injure them if you do lunge after lunge at this pace. The number one thing with targeting muscles is form, not quantity, she doesn't go over form! Greg Smithy does go over form and he really targets the inner working of your buns and gets rid of cellulite. and he does floor excersises that isolate muscles. If you want thighs like a transvestite than do these lunges all day. If you want a nice [...] than do Greg Smithy's tape.
Abs on this are good though, so i don't totally regret the purchase

Description
In TARGET, Chris Lloyd (Dillon) does NOT get along with his father Walter. Walter is too careful, cautious, and boring to Chris, and never tries anything new, and Chris had to live by the same standards when he was growing up. But when his mother is kidnapped while in Europe, to Chris's confusion, Walter suddenly turns into a man of action and springs to life.

One of my favorite movies.......2007-06-04
Ever since this movie came out, it has been one of my favorites. I watch it once a year or so, and enjoy it each time. This is an action/suspense movie with spy elements as well. The balance between action and suspense scenes is just right and the interaction between the father (Gene Hackman) and son (Matt Dillon) is very entertaining along the way - the son finds out the father isn't such an old fuddy-duddy after all!
The movie does start out pretty slowly, but the beginning does a good job of introducing the main characters and sets up the tense yet humorous relationship between father and son.
The plot of the movie is very good except that the ending, while being exciting and suspenseful, is a bit contrived (a little suspension of disbelief is needed here). The acting, with the exception of a couple minor characters, is also top-notch. The characters are believable and seem natural.
Finally, I'd just like to mention that this movie has a couple of great car chases that are a blast to watch, and seem plausible, unlike some movies where the chase scenes are totally unrealistic. Plus the fact that they are in Europe, with European vehicles makes them feel different than the standard fare.
The DVD itself has no special features, but the price is right. The video and audio quality are good (typical 80's movie quality), and are better than my laserdisc copy and much better than my old VHS copy. However, they did leave in the film change markers; so you have been warned if that bothers you.
IF YOU LIKE G.HACKMAN YOU MUST TARGET THIS MOVIE.......2007-03-19
Gene Hackman is one of my favorite actors, and he doesn't let me down on this one. Actually, I think this is one of his best films. He sounds pretty natural speaking several European languages as if he's always spoke them. There's great action in the movie, great intrigue, and suspense. I love the European setting as well. The movie progresses with a crescendo intensity towards climax. I stole this movie from my cousin and kept looking for the DVD until I found it in Amazon, and here it is.
Target.......2007-03-09
This is a competent spy thriller that nevertheless does not thrill me all that much when I watch it. The music is bad, and is it just me, or does this film feel more like a late70's film than something from the mid 80's?
Anyway, I've started with the off-the-wall nitpicking before giving you the gist of the plot. When an American woman goes missing while playing tourist in Paris, her husband and son team up--despite their differences--to find her. What the son, played by Matt Dillon, doesn't know is that his father used to work for the CIA and may have a piece of his violent past coming back to haunt him. The father, Duke (Gene Hackman), fears a kidnapping right away, and tries to make contact with some of his former superiors for assistance. Before that, while arriving at the airport, Duke is approached by someone with sinister evidence that his wife has indeed been snatched, while someone else suddenly starts shooting. All of this while the son, Chris, has wandered off to flirt with a beautiful girl.
The sudden outbreak of violence at the airport--along with the mystery of why there seem to be two parties linked to the wife's disappearance, one wanting to intimidate and negotiate while the other is overly trigger-happy, within minutes of the plane touching down--accomplishes a lot. It shows that the movie will have some fast action and surprises. It allows us to see how Duke will handle himself in a tricky situation, hemmed in by multiple threats. And it makes it clear that all is not as it seems. A good spy thriller always has layers of complexity to be peeled back, and right from the get-go there is suspense.
The scene also seemed designed to keep Matt Dillon's character, Chris, from discovering his father was a secret-agent man in a former life, possibly with one big ugly loose end, but actually it doesn't take long for him to notice there is something odd about his father, and his new/old friends. Once the father has admitted the truth to his son, and the son has gotten past the shock and anger of it, they begin to function more as a team. Their teaming is a bit awkward at first since Chris is no spy, Duke is out of practice, and the two don't get along well...but nothing makes you function better as a team than an assassin coming back for a second try, or a third.
When the phrase Operation Clean Sweep gets dropped--some kind of mission from Duke's past that didn't go quite as planned, though his recollection is that it was a rousing success--it gives our dynamic DNA-linked duo a direction to focus on. But Duke wants to send his son packing, to a safehouse of sorts, while he either wraps things up or dies trying. Things get even more unpredictable when Chris doesn't do what he's supposed to do.
I think I like the back end of this film best, though there are some decent action sequences in the early-going when everything's more mysterious. Later, the spy trappings kick in in force: the betrayals, the set-ups gone wrong, the strange code names for old enemies, the final showdown between Duke and an assassin, the nerve-wracking attempt to deactivate a bomb, the real threat unmasked. Competently done--somewhat entertaining throughout.
Where then to find fault? Well, I'm not sure Hackman and Dillon create the right father-and-son chemistry. I wasn't convinced that they were really blood relatives; it may have had something to do with two different acting styles, and some odd directing. Hackman never seems all that anguished over his wife being in mortal danger--yes, I know he's the super-cool spy-type 'n all--and he relies on that standard Hackman nervous chuckle that he picked up from Robert Duvall somewhere, but which tends to get on my nerves if I hear it too much. And Matt Dillon seems to me to be overdoing the son's basic trait of frenzied hotheadedness, the trademark of every rebellious know-it-all son who needs to learn a few things about the world. Some of his ranting at his father feels forced or, well, acted. So while Dillon shouts and bounces about as Hackman plays it cool and ignores him, some of their scenes together feel staged, like two actors concentrating so much on their own choice of performance--or the director's--that they aren't really working off each other.
And I like both these actors a lot. In other films.
Meanwhile, there's also the fact that all the veteran spy-thriller or mystery fans may figure out some of the twists before they get untwisted. Plus, is it just me, or would it have killed the sun to come out fully for just one scene? The picture looks kind of grey and grainy all the way through.
A realistic approach to the spy genre that settles for being kind of awkward and ungainly at times. The music doesn't help.

Overall a good film with just enough action and intrigue to keep you interested. Good points: gives those of us who fought in the "Cold War" a look back at the days of the Berlin Wall, East Germany, and the cat and mouse games where no one could be trusted. Bad points: the ending seems disjointed, rushed, and leaves more questions than answers.

Jean-Claude Van Damme, "the Muscles from Brussels," has sought to revitalize his flagging career by working with the most adrenalized directors from Hong Kong action films. His first such effort was this, the umpteenth remake of The Most Dangerous Game, which teamed him with Hong Kong's most fluid action poet, John Woo. Woo does what he can but, as much magic as he injects into the action, he can't turn Van Damme into an actor. Still, this is above-average fare for the wooden Belgian, in which he plays a guy trying to bust a ring of hunters who pay for the right to track and kill human quarry. And Woo has the ever-reliable Lance Henriksen as the chief bad guy, always a plus. --Marshall Fine
Customer Reviews:
I'll put 3 stars..........2007-03-04
...because there is 1 for Wilford Brimley (always a pleasure to watch his appearances), 1 for Lance Henriksen (who doesn't need any rehearsal for this kind of part), and 1 for John Woo whose effort to make Van Damme look like an actor is the only excuse for casting the most stupid-looking female lead I ever saw : I'm not sure if she was trying to look bewildered or else, but the intensity of the stupidity filling her eyes (especially in close-ups) should have got her some kind of reward, since I don't think it was (or could be) ever matched, except perhaps with the always reliable T(otal)V(ulgarity) products (but that I can't really tell since I NEVER had a TV set).
Besides, I think Van Damme should be liable for some compensation, after stating that John Woo was "THE Martin Scorcese of Asia", which, in my opinion is close to some defamatory remark : there is some violence in some Scorcese's movies, but violence is NEVER the whole of the show!!!
Fantastic Action.......2006-08-30
This is a fantastic action packed movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. The storyline is interesting as it shows the possible challenges that the homeless face. Natasha Binder (Yancy Butler) comes to New Orleans looking for her father who was missing. She meets up with Chance, a sailor (Jean-van Damme) who she hires to help her find her missing father (after Chance fails to be selected from going out to sea). Chance helps her to find out that her father was murdered by some notorious mercenaries who excel at hunting ex-Vietnam war vets on the streets of New Orleans for fun. Here retired war veterans are hunted down like prey.
Claude van Damme demonstrates his exceptional fighting skills when he and the blood thirsty mercenaries are engaged in a spectacular chase through the streets and bayous of New Orleans. This is a great action film with Van Damme displaying his customary exceptional talents in the martial arts area.
This film was producer John Woo's American debut and is one of the best that he has made. It includes some outstanding shootouts, spectacular stunts and breath-taking car chases. It is full of explicit violent deeds. It is filmed in New Orleans and has some good music from Graeme Revell. Lance Henricksen plays the wicked brains behind this grisly sport very well.
I recommend this film to action or martial arts fans, particularly those who enjoy watching a good hard fight. This is one van Damme movie that needs to be seen by every action fan.
Excellent.......2006-07-04

quality was clear also and I really want to thank you guys for

dumb but watchable, 5 stars for L. Henriksen's death scene.......2006-04-12
The plot of "Hard Target" has been summarized in previous reviews, so I'll limit myself to discussing my favorite part.
"Hard Target's" claim to fame when it came out was that it was John Woo's first American film, and that's certainly a big deal. (I just saw "Hard Boiled" the other day, and I'd need seven dictionaries to describe that glorious mess.)
But it boggles my mind that Lance Henriksen's jaw-dropping death scene doesn't land right at the top of every review of this movie. I mean... (spoiler alert) the dude has a grenade dropped into his pants. He manages to get the grenade *out* of his pants before it explodes. And then he throws it away from him, right? Wrong! He UNSCREWS the grenade, hoping to separate the fuse from the explosive. And he DOES separate them before the grenade goes off and starts laughing in triumph. But he holds the fuse like two inches from the explosive and... THE SPARK JUMPS ACROSS! Funny enough already, but L.H. makes this shocked "Whu..." sound that is more hysterical than the entire first season of the Daily Show. Right before blowing up. It's absolutely brilliant.
Hard Target.......2006-03-18
I enjoy action films. VanDamne is always enjoyable with his talent in the martial arts area. His moves are so natural and graceful with a deadly blow. In this film, I found the story line to be entertaining in that it depicted the possibilities of what happens to our homeless in less than perfect conditions, and shows that they may be homeless, but not forgotten by some. VanDamn's original involvement was not with the best intentions, but he saw a different side of life and became interested in the injustice going on and became a part of the solution.
