Luc Besson (The Fifth Element) made his American directorial debut with this stylized thriller about a French hit man (Jean Reno) who takes in an American girl (Natalie Portman) being pursued by a corrupt killer cop (Gary Oldman). Oldman is a little more unhinged than he should be, but there is something genuinely irresistible about the story line and the relationship between Reno and Portman. Rather than cave in to the cookie-cutter look and feel of American action pictures, Besson brings a bit of his glossy style from French hits La Femme Nikita and Subway to the production, and the results are refreshing even if the bullets and explosions are awfully familiar. --Tom Keogh

Come On.......2007-07-01
You people are just trying to make a buck on this man's death just last week you had it for a normal price now your trying to selling it for 80-100+ dollars.
This DVD shows the man's life and should not be for someone making a quick buck.
Don't let 2 days cloud your past judgement of a man and his career!.......2007-06-30
I hope this DVD will at least hold some symbolance of a legacy for his character and work ethic. I love you Chris, I hope whatever problems there were have been worked out with the only one who can judge you, and that's God. I am hoping you had your faith placed in Christ, especially with your relationship with Eddy, and he being Born-Again.
You may also want to checkout www.highspots.com for this wonderful DVD set. They still have it priced at a reasonable price of $17.99 plus shipping.
Chris Jericho has given the best interview, and he has hit on all the points I've been thinking. I had the pleasure of meeting Chris on several occassions, at Wrestling events, and after events in personal settings, and he was a class act. Please read the recap below, to see how one of his closest peers knew and saw him to be.
.....
Nancy Grace then introduced Chris Jericho, introducing him as "a name you all know, wrestling superstar and dear friend of Chris Benoit. Jericho was asked for his thoughts on everything he's heard them discuss and how the story has hit him. Jericho said, "It's almost a tale of two cities, a tale of two people. There was the Chris Benoit that had these horrendous acts of extreme psychopathic lunacy in the last couple of days of his life. Then there's the Benoit I myself traveled with, lived with, said I love you to on many occasions - he was my mentor, he was one of my best friends and he was a brother to me in so many ways. The fifteen years I knew him and the two days that he decided to do these horrible horrible acts, it's hard to kind of discern the two and that's why we have to find out what would make a mild-mannered, polite, influential, tremendous person and performer to do such things. Is steroids a reason? I think it goes a lot deeper than that. I think we're seeing a man with some severe psychological, troubled issues that held them in for far too long until everything combined to cause him to snap in such a horrible way."
Grace noted that Jericho spent "many, many years" with Benoit and asked him if Benoit ever spoke with him about Daniel's condition. Jericho responded, "No and see, this is why I really wanted to come talk to you, Nancy, and try to explain a little of Chris Benoit the man to some of the people that never heard anything about wrestling and don't know anything about him and the millions of fans and hundreds of co-workers that he influenced in such a positive way and entertained. He was a very quiet man, but not a recluse and not a hermit. Just quiet. He minded his own business but he was always around. If there was a joke, he would laugh and in all of the years I was with him, I never saw anything. If I went nuts and wanted to beat somebody up, he was the guy who would contain me. A lot of people can tell you that and as far as knowing Daniel's condition, it wouldn't surprise me. I'm saying this seriously, if even his parents didn't even know. If Chris had decided he wanted to keep it to himself, you wouldn't have been able to pry it out of him for anything. I don't know anybody - myself or any of his close friends, his co-workers, his boss, who knew or even suspected anything about him having Fragile X. Yet as soon as I read the symptoms of Fragile X, it fit Daniel to a Tee all across the board."
Grace asked Jericho in what ways. "The lack of social skills, hard to make eye contact, intense shyness, flapping of the hands- I remember that was one thing I read; ADHD, a very kind of a hyper little guy. Even to the point of his ears being a little bigger, his head was a little bit larger. You don't think much about those things; some kids grow into themselves over the years, but now that you read it, you can kind of see where this all ties in. I remember a few years ago at a Wrestlemania party, my son, who was a year and a half old spoke more and better than Daniel did at four and a half at the time. They were playing and I just thought Dan was like his father, quiet and naturally withdrawn. Now you can see there were indications it was something more than that."
Grace asked if the symptoms Jericho described and whether they matched Fragile X. He said many of them do. She then asked if it would lead to stunted growth and he said that it was a tough call to say based on what little they know about Fragile X syndrome.
Jericho was asked whether Benoit was upset about being demoted to ECW. Important to note here that the night before, Grace asked Bret Hart if Benoit was upset about being demoted from "The Four Horsemen to Raw". Jericho said that was "such a fabrication" and explained the three WWE brands. He noted Benoit was champion of the Raw brand, then moved to the middle of the Smackdown brand. He said, "To better utilize his talents because he was, across the board, the best wrestler in WWE and anyone will probably tell you that. The move was twofold. One, he was about to become ECW champion. Two, ECW is full of younger guys who are just learning and Chris was just a great trainer and so well respected that they wanted to help train some of these younger guys to help them with their future endeavors. So, to move Chris to ECW, Chris would not see that as a demotion. He would see that as doing his job to help the business and keep it going. The business that he loved. Chris never had a job except for wrestling. He never delivered papers, he never worked in a convenience store. He would have seen this as a honor."
Grace said that it sounded as if Benoit was turning into more of a trainer. Jericho said, "No, he was about to become the ECW champion. A champion is a champion, right?"
A caller asked about Benoit's other children in Canada. Jericho said that they are doing the best they can to try and deal with it. He said that you have to imagine how they feel losing their father at this age and the way they did. He said he knows they will do well but it's going to be hard.
WWE's disclosure that Benoit passed his most recent Wellness test on April 10th.
She then said she wanted to go to Jericho because he knows Benoit, "better than us. He's known him for years. They are very dear friends." Grace asked Jericho if he can imagine Benoit doing this cool-headed. Jericho said absolutely not and commented that the argument was, "getting away from the story. Steroids or no steroids, it was still a man who had a very severe problem that no one knew about - maybe his wife did - I don't know, but no one I knew or that Chris talked about had any indication of these tendencies. This is not about steroids, this is not about wrestling; this is about finding out about the mental problems this man had to cause him to snap in such a brutal form. I love Chris Benoit. I hate the fact of what he did."
"Nancy, that's the dichotomy of this this, that's the problem. Chris loved his children - all three of them. He talked about them constantly and went out of his way to go home, even for a few hours to see his sons, Daniel for sure. That's why you can't comprehend it. Was it steroids? Maybe, but I don't want to hang everything on steroids. He didn't suddenly take a shot of steroids and said, 'I'm going to go crazy.' This is something that had been building in him for many years, obviously to snap like that and go insane and take away the most important thing in his life. I know it, because he told me - all three of his children were the most important thing.
Jericho said it was a random testing that was held by an independent corporation and said it was a "real, true, stringent drug test that gets results." He said if you are caught, you are fined and suspended and that if they asked Vince McMahon for a list of names suspended in the last six months, he would provide it.
That ended the discussion.
Quick Thoughts: Of all the guests, Jericho brought a human face to the tragedy and the hardship that many in the business are facing in trying to come to terms with what exactly happened. His comments that this goes beyond steroids and within Benoit's psyche was the voice of reason that has been needed all week from someone inside the business.
you people are sick!.......2007-06-29
I had to write this, you people sellin this are sick and i dont know if its the same product that was up there last week but last week i saw THESE same dvds for like 7 , 8 10 bucks now people are sellin them for over 100? This AGAIN just shows how sick and depraved people are to make money over this horrific tragedy .My prayers go out to his wife and son , and u people should be ashamed :(
thank u for listening
Very Insensitive.......2007-06-27
I will go right to the point. The person who approved putting up a link to a Chris Benoit DVD along with the news of the death's of Chris Benoit & his family should be reprimanded at the least.
I am sure that this was put up in the hours after the news came out. However, knowing what we know now the entire blurb about the deaths & the dvd link should be removed.
Just my opinion
Bob
Benoit.......2007-06-27
I watched this video last night, and if you wnat to learn who he was as a person, you need to watch this. I am hurt and feel a little betrayed by what has happened, as I am a huge Chris Benoit fan. The fact is, soemthing happened in that house we may never know. It does not take away from how great Chris was in the ring. This DVD will actually show you what most of his friends and fans new him to be, toally classy. The fact is, everyone is judging him. We may never really know what happened in that house over the traggic weekend.

One of the first and coolest, factions in Sports Entertainment was The Four Horsemen. This stable was a powerful group that ran roughshod over WCW and lasted for the better part of a decade with its various members, including 16-time World Champion "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair (the constant among the Four Horsemen) as well as other members: Arn Anderson, Ole Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Barry Windham, Sting, Lex Luger, Brian Pillman, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, and more.

Paul Roma burns the Horsemen's stale doughboys!.......2007-06-21
A "historical" documentary on this Horsemen DVD seems as endless as Ric Flair's career. Flair and his fellow creaky wrestling comrades, Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard, engage in self congratulatory stories about their questionable antics from another century that occurred both inside and outside the ring. The DVD gives top billing to Flair who, most notoriously today, wrestles at an advanced age and attracts a mocking response from modern audiences when he appears at arenas in his sequined house robes (suitable attire for an old man) accented by an entrance theme from a stale science fiction movie. Flair, Anderson, and Blanchard are just as Has-Been as the "2001" anthem. Finally, a Horseman of much younger vintage and with more true ring athleticism, Paul Roma, rescues the DVD and infuses it with life. Roma stands his ground in the documentary against charges that he was not a team player from molding doughboys Flair and Anderson and their sycophant Triple H. Roma rescued the Horsemen from antiquity in the Nineties and brought both class and renewed audience support to the decaying team. Evidently he did not subscribe to the Horsemen's frat boy rules of conduct, so now they try to punish him with their cheap shots in the documentary. Triple H chimes in as the self proclaimed wrestling "historian" who conveniently forgets that Paul Roma was a solo powerhouse in the ring plus a member of championship tag teams The Young Stallions, Power and Glory, and Pretty Wonderful. During his portion of the interview, Roma responds to the cheap shots with his own observations about his former colleagues that are more accurate and have the targeted power of one of his patented wrestling high kicks. Bravo Roma! The full star rating from this Amazon customer is exclusively for you. You survived the Horsemen with your credibility and integrity intact. The same can not be said for Flair and Anderson.
Great DVD!!!.......2007-06-02
The main doc. on the dvd is awesome. I recommend this dvd to any wrestling fan, old or young. Also, look for hidden things on the menus, I've found 2 or 3 on the first disc.
Awesome DVD.......2007-06-01
Finally, the Four Horsemen in all their glory. It is a really good DVD. I loved watching the early footage, although I wish they all didn't stay in character during the interviews, but it is still great to see everyone again and to watch the Four Horsemen at their best!
VERY GOOD DVD!!!.......2007-05-30
I never Thought they would make a dvd about the four horsemen. Since They were never "WWE" Wrestlers. The documentary was very good. It covered a lot of ground. The bonus Matches were a real treat. It was nice seeing older matches that I've never seen before. I especially enjoyed the Ric Flair Vs. Arn Anderson match. (Because Ric Flair lost!) If you're a fan of the 4 horsemen pick this one up!

Amazon.com essential video
Michael Jordan, the greatest player in the history of team sports, gets an appropriate showcase with Ultimate Jordan, a two-disc set that's the most feature-packed sports DVD to date. It includes five programs previously available on VHS--some of the most spectacular footage is on Come Fly with Me (1989), which covers Jordan's youth, college years, and early NBA career. Michael Jordan's Playground (1991) is, as the title suggests, more fanciful, combining highlight footage with a fictional story line and a music video, while Air Time (1993) takes us into the championship and Dream Team years. The more sobering Above and Beyond (1996) covers the death of Jordan's father, his first retirement, and his baseball endeavors, and His Airness (1999) summarizes his career up through the famous final shot against the Utah Jazz. The numerous extra features collect various clips and highlights, but the best section is "Michael's Great 8," which provides 2.5- to 6-minute segments about significant Jordan games, including his 63 points against Boston in the 1986 playoffs and the 1997 "flu game" against Utah. Ultimate Jordan's release in the fall of 2001 coincided with Jordan's not-unexpected return from his second retirement, making it clear that there's another chapter in the Jordan legacy yet to be written. --David Horiuchi

If you have followed Mike throughout his career, A definte must have for your collection.
Jordan...For 3!...YESSSS!.......2007-05-07
For someone who grew up in the Chicago area during the 90's, pairing this with the Chicago Bulls: The 90's is as good as it gets. Not only does this DVD bring back all of the classic videos we bought as kids back in the day, but also puts together loads of highlights, and of course, the best feature which is the full length games. The only complaint that I have is that three of the games on this are also the same on the Bulls DVD set I mentioned above. Otherwise, if you're a Jordan fan (which unless you're a Knicks or Craig Ehlo fan, you are) you need to pick this up.
I SAW MAN FLY.......2007-04-07
Legend, there is some good basketball playerz out there today like king james and kobe but mike took the nba to the next level, lebron you have to be comming with 6 nba championship rings, slam dunk champion, mvps, point scoring champion, etc to even be mention in the same force as air jordan.
Ultimate Jordan.......2007-02-14
Never wanted to buy the separate videos/DVD's. Glad I ordered the complete collection now. I actually felt like a little kid again watching Michael back in the day. Had to be almost surgically removed from the couch in front of the TV.
Michael Jordan, an inspirational role model.......2007-01-15
Michael Jordan is simply awesome. I love the fact that he emerged as the greatest basketball player of all time. Nonetheless, he had to prove himself over the years. Michael not making the high school team just woke up a sleeping giant. This edition is a must buy!!It includes Michael's greatest games, highlights and comments from Michael's teammates and the other players he tortured during his magnificient 14-year career.

Customer Reviews:
An All-time Favorite GUY movie........2007-06-28
This is definitely a guy movie, about a professional hit man who's not too bright but has a big heart and is very adept at his craft. It is an intriguing story. Great plot (you don't know how it will turn out), great acting, great villian (this cop is a pscycho). You will like the characters and feel for their well being. A must see!
Most convincing love story ever........2007-06-22
"I know what I want to do with the rest of my life. I want to be an assassin. Like you." Spoken by a little [..]Natalie Portman, which becomes the earmark of my early attentions that this movie was more than your run of the mill movie. In fact, Natalie Portman may not have been the focus of this film but every ounce of her characterization of Mathilda stood out as owning this films reputation as an underground international hit. I can't give justice to the power she releases at the explosive ending with Leon that comes straight from some everyone-dies-Scorsese-mob-ending. Her invoking sobs are stomach clutching and her innate control is so fantastic it's frighteningly genius. It's almost impossible for me to discover the means for her to of have created such a complete character with such genuine passion when I consider the real life pressures such as the presence of people and running camera's absorbing every nuance of her countenance and paired against such dominating presence as Jean Reno and Gary Oldman no less! At film ending, I felt obligated beyond an audiance member, as if some member in an important film jury. Obligated to award that outstanding performance. Because in the movie business, audiences (unlike sports spectators who support having the best of athlets)do not reward the best of movie making. They rush to see movies like spider man 3, and oceans and reward them with unbelievable revenues that executives celebrate over. This under the radar revenge film with a bizarrly genius child actor was more than just a klatch of hollywood moments, it was a delicate lingo of sexual undertones. It was a 'becoming of age'-ness, and metamorphisized rebirth. This child was fantastic and worth droves of applause. She literally and metaphorically walks away from the hollywood glitch and glamour at some point. Away from the eye catching fire, and explosions. The throngs of police extra's, and of the cliche final showdown. She walks away as a child would, but with the aged spirit of a master actress, spliting the story in no better way for me into that scence of departure. One the one side is Leon, the revenge gun for hire story, and then the other of a precious girl coming of age under extraordinary circumstances which parallels the slave of Leon's rebirth from soulessness. "Is it always this hard?" She asks Leon with blood on her face. And as if questioning the validity of her own living, sweeps the blood with her hand and stares at it. "No." Exclaims Leon without emotion. Planted behind Leon's mirrory glasses at that moment is his rebirth.
The Professional.......2007-06-12
Excellent movie now a classic never get sick of watching, a must have for all movie buffs !
The Professional.......2007-06-05
This is a fantastic movie. Jean Reno is absolutely marvelous as the hit man who takes in an orphaned young girl (Natalie Portman) after a crooked DEA agent (Gary Oldman) kills off her entire family. Reno brings depth, sensitivity and a true comedic flair to the character. Natalie Portman is, naturally, adorable and shows true skill in the role. And Gary Oldman? He's just brilliant. The best - that is the foulest, the most despicable - villain there ever was. You've just got to see this movie! The Professional
Unbelievably ridiculous but try not and be emotinally attached.......2007-06-03
Here is the rare film that combines a ridiculous storyline with a fabulous cast, great overacting, action, tenderness, angst and pathos and creates a winner you can't take your eyes, ears, heart or attention from. It will have you rooting for a serial killer who is teaching a 12-year-old the tricks of the trade. No kidding!
Jean Reno, who has probably never given a poor performance, is perfectly cast as an illiterate killer for hire. When Natalie Portman's family -- which lives in his building -- is murdered by bad cop-cocaine dealer Gary Oldman and crew, not yet teenager Portman survives and takes up housekeeping with the illiterate neighbor, a witness to the murders that is a full-time contractor to restaranteur Danny Aiello, playing the kind of gritty New York role that's made him famous.
You've probably already figured out this movie contains a lot of profanity, killing, bloodletting, foul play, and good guy-bad guy technique that's typical in this kind of urban drug-induced "police" drama. What you haven't figured out -- and what you won't until you see this film -- is the affectionate relationship it creates between older than her years but still youthful Portman and her new father figure and the way this relationship will addict you to this film.
Their relationship is about as connective as that torch you still carry for the high school sweetheart that got away. It sits beneath the surface eating up emotional bandwidth and retaining a place in your shattered psyche. The relationship between Portman and Reno (pronounced renn-Oh, not like the city in Nevada) will do the same thing to you.
I had no idea this movie, now 13 years of age, had all this going for it. It's a film that catches you unprepared. You want to see all the killing and be neutralized by its brutality. Yet this tender relationship between two down and out figures draws you in like a wet kitten at your front door whose mother was just run over by a car in the street. It melts your heart. Meanwhile, Gary Oldman is the [erfect foil, the epitome of evil. He gets his later in a memorable scene with our hero, Reno.
You have all this to look forward to as many times as you want by buying, renting, or borrowing this wonderful movie. My advice is to get on with it.

--Tom Keogh

In its 13 episodes, Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist: Season Two shows that not much has changed in the life of mild-mannered psychologist Dr. Katz (voiced by comic actor Jonathan Katz). His grown-up, loser son, Ben (H. Jon Benjamin), continues to spend his days inching toward one or another imagined destiny, absolutely dependent on his tolerant if frustrated dad, yet resentful that the elder Katz advises him on his idiotic quests to nowhere. Meanwhile, Katz's professional life remains a succession of loony sessions with the likes of Ray Romano, Janeane Garofalo, Joy Behar, Emo Phillips, Steven Wright, and Garry Shandling. Nothing has changed about the appalling work ethic of receptionist Laura (Laura Silverman), who pilfers office supplies, ties up every phone line on personal business, and rebuffs Ben's daily efforts to impress her with one or another claim to his uniqueness.
"Bystander Ben" finds the eponymous goofball quoted in a local newspaper as a fully-identified witness to a crime. Convinced he's riding a wave of media fame, Ben misses the big picture: the yet-to-be-captured criminals can identify him. In "Real Estate," Ben considers finding an apartment of his own, leaving such minor details as a lack of income for later consideration. "Glasses" features Dr. Katz in an unusually narcissistic mode, trying to update his personal appearance with a hip pair of reading glasses that make his face look like it's in a fishbowl. "Drinky the Drunk Guy" is a very funny episode in which Ben confronts his father in the most obnoxious terms about what he perceives as Dr. Katz's drinking problem. "A Journey for the Betterment of People" and "ESP" are also great Ben-centric tales, the former concerning Ben's sudden desire to save prostitutes from a life of exploitation, and the latter about his strong belief that he suddenly has the power to read minds. ("Can you read my mind?" the disgusted Laura asks.) An excellent set. --Tom Keogh
Description
Meet Dr. Katz. He lives with his 20-something unemployed son, has a sullenly sarcastic receptionist who occasionally finds the time to work for him and a therapy practice where he treats dozens of the finest comedic minds of the '90s. In this second season DVD of the Emmy award-winning animated series, co-creator/star Jonathan Katz hosts the likes of Joy Behar, Garry Shandling, Steven Wright, and Sandra Bernhard, all of whom show why nitpicking, phobias and neuroses make for great comedy.
Customer Reviews:
Brilliant, funny, addictive........2007-05-06
At the risk of repeating myself, this series is brilliant, funny and addictive. I think I speak for all of us here (on planet earth at least) when I plaintively ask .......... WHEN is Series three going to be released on DVD?????
A Must for Katz Fans - any anyone else with a sense of humor.......2007-04-02
Is there really any episode of Dr. Katz that does NOT deserve a five-star review? The idea alone - presenting stand-up comedy within a plot - is awesome. But this particular DVD scores big for two reasons: the Ben stories are great (love the witness to crime and saving prostitutes features), and there is finally a decent amount of episodes on here (13). Wonderful, sublte humor: great for anyone who doesn't need canned laughter to know when something is funny.
There has got to be more.......2007-02-14
I now have season 1 and season 2, and love them both. I can remember episodes that are not included on these 2 DVDs so there must be at least one more coming. I hope it's soon.
So glad this is on DVD now.......2007-01-10
Anyone who likes Adult Swim's Home Movies and stand-up comedy will love Dr. Katz. When this show was on Comedy Central, I tapped it and am so glad it finally came out on dvd.
Remarkably endearing.......2006-12-29
The reason I love this show so much is because it has heart. Genuine soul. The comedians receiving Freudian advice from Dr. Katz are, by and large, a mixed bag -- entertaining, usually, but rarely crossing the line into hysteria. A few of them get some great laughs (Steven Wright in the first episode, for example), but the show doesn't have the benefit of multiple writers and scripted events; because of this, I really do find that 'Dr. Katz' isn't as "funny", per se, as the greatest 'Simpsons' seasons, or 'Family Guy', or 'The Critic', etc. Yet, it's such a different beast, and by no means does it strive for the same humor, nor audience, as those shows (though I'm sure most fans of Katz are huge fans of 'The Simpsons' glory days). That's why it's so refreshing, really; it's unlike anything else that's ever existed on television.
Again, though -- it's the beating heart. The reckoning force of the show is the heartfelt, loving relationship between Dr. Katz and his son, Ben. Their relationship is so beautiful because, really, they never get angry at each other for more than a few seconds, and they play off each others' unparralled level of wit to the utmost charming effect. They are father and son, but more than that they are friends, and I'm not sure I can name any television show that I've ever seen that displays such a unique, sincere affection between two people. Never, ever -- ever -- is this gooey or overtly sentimental, either; because, hey, these are not mushy guys -- they're just two intelligent, cynical but kindly beings that live and draw from each other. It's so lovely to be apart of. For comparison, I can think of a few other shows that give off a similar effect -- surely, in 'The Simpsons' best moments, there was a resonant feeling that developed and I felt apart of the family. Likewise -- and more uniquely so -- Larry David's 'Curb Your Enthusiasm', despite being the antithesis of a dramatic series, involves me in such a way that I simply --;do not want the show to end;--. You become so enthralled with these real, lively people and their reality -- that you don't want them to leave. Even so, with 'The Simpsons' (in my opinion, the best television show ever to exist [roughly seasons 3 - 9]), this sentiment never, ever held a candle to the ingenious writing and expression of comedy (unrivaled in most technical respects). 'Dr. Katz', by contrast, propels the show into soaring levels of sheer enjoyment with such an emotive disposition, high-riding above the comedic elements within the show that, on their own, still satisfy on a consistent basis. Yet again -- this makes the show brilliantly distinct.
I'm discounting the humorous nature of the show, too, which isn't fair, because it is funny. It's just not, for me, gut-busting funny -- Ben Katz makes me laugh for completely different reasons than Stewie Griffin, Bender, or Jay Sherman. It's often improvisational, and therefore much more naturalistic, leaning again towards the charming nature of the petty conversations between father and son. The chemistry, though, is without fault -- though the dynamic offers familial joy, Jonathan Katz and H. Jon Benjamin are brilliant and likable comedians in every respect, and the exchange and building upon each others' wit is priceless and in huge supply.
Only 13 episodes, which is disappointing, but I'd feel wrong giving it anything less than 5 stars. It deserves it.

Like the earlier DVD release Ultimate Jordan, it collects a number of programs originally released on VHS, in this case the yearly highlight videos that summarized each of the six championship seasons, plus a five-minute introduction that covers the franchise starting in the 1960s and ending with its drafting of Jordan.
Where the NBA Dynasty series (the other initial entry is the slightly meatier Los Angeles Lakers: The Complete History) outdoes Ultimate Jordan is in the six playoff games--one for each year--as they were originally broadcast, minus halftime and commercials. Having the nearly complete game (usually running 90-100 minutes, from the TV introductions to post-game interviews) means you can skip straight to John Paxson's clutch basket or what was expected to be the final shot of Jordan's career. Or you can savor each game in its entirety, all the better to appreciate the artistry of Jordan in his three-pointer barrage against Portland or his "flu game" against Utah. You can see other great players too, of course, including Jordan's teammates--Scottie Pippen, Horace Grant, Dennis Rodman--and those opponents unfortunate enough to face the Bulls--Clyde Drexler, Charles Barkley, John Stockton, Karl Malone, and others. Because these are all NBA Finals games, you won't see Jordan's shot over Craig Ehlo or his 63-point coming-out party against Boston, but the 1990s Chicago Bulls were a team for the ages, and merely having their games--some of them all-time classics--available for home viewing is a major milestone in archived sports. --David Horiuchi

Da Bulls.......2007-05-07
If you enjoy basketball, especially with some of the best players to grace the game, you will enjoy these DVD's.
NBA Dynasty Series - Chicago Bulls - The 1990s.......2007-01-29
Bulls dynasty just like I remember it
The Best of The Bulls.......2007-01-28
I suggest this to anybody who is interested in the Era that was the early 90's...When Jordan was in his prime dominating the league and winning 6 NBA Titles. I recommend this to anybody who is a fan of basketball. It is a great buy and includes the bulls best games in their entirety.
Everything is there........2006-08-03
I'm an italian fan of NBA. My favourite team is LA Lakers and I thought there would be no such a period like the 80s with Lakers-Celtics finals!
Well maybe there is: it's the 90s with the Bulls domination and MJ show. The DVD collection is complete and the bonus games are well choosen.
Bulls teams were better than this set.......2006-07-05
First of all, each of the 6 Chicago Bulls championship teams were great teams. The DVDs are perfect for lazy evenings or age-group team barbecues, but I do have two complaints:
1) The games are not in fact "complete" or "as it happened" - significant chunks are cut out of the games, especially 1998 game six. Several minutes are skipped. (On the other hand, I really appreciate the lack of commercials during the time-outs.)
2) These may be Jordan's best games of each series (I'm not even sure about that), but they are not the team's defining games. For instance, from the Lakers series I would have preferred game 2, where the Bulls found the answer to Magic Johnson won their first finals game; from the Blazers series, game 6, where Pippen lead the reserves in a great 4th quarter comeback to win the series. On the other hand, the 1993 (Paxson's 3) and 1998 (Jordan on Russell) selections are spot-on.
Nice set but I'm docking two stars for these issues.

Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist: Season One includes the first six 1995 episodes from the Comedy Central animated series, which was based, the story goes, on comic actor Jonathan Katz's personal life. Playing himself (i.e., providing the voice for his cartoon self) as a divorced psychologist whose clients include a number of comedians, Katz is very funny in a non-confrontational, quietly frustrated yet loquacious way. Dr. Katz lives with his grown son (H. Jon Benjamin), an unemployed, apparently unskilled loser who hangs around Katz's office ineptly trying to pick up his dad's prickly receptionist (Laura Silverman). The latter is so surly and self-centered she tells Katz he doesn't "know what it's like" to spend a day around "crazy people" at work. (Katz, being Katz, has no comeback to that remark.) These three absurd characters (and the inspired performers behind them) would be enough to fill a show by themselves. But the biggest plus in Dr. Katz is a succession of vocal performances (which sound largely improvised) by some welcome comedians playing neurotic versions of themselves, including (and especially) Ray Romano, Wendy Liebman, Dave Attell, Laura Kightlinger, and Larry Miller, all in the first season. Each episode exudes anxiety and churns along to the sound of rambling dialogues that barely paper over repressed desire and rage. Sort of like real life, except funnier. --Tom Keogh

Dr. Katz Season one.......2007-03-10
I wish this series went on forever. Jonathon Katz as a comedian is a genious and sexy with that balding head of his. And as a cartoon, he is even better.
squigglevision.......2007-02-20
Only 6 episodes, therefore the lower price. Ray Romano was featured in 3 of the episodes, and was on his way to being a regular on the show, but then he got the deal to do his little show called Everybody Loves Raymond, so this is under the "might have been" file...
Anyway, Jonathan Katz and his son Ben are cute as usual, eating cereal and not doing much...Laura is nice and disgruntled, and the extras they offer are commendable for only a ten-dollar DVD...
Not exactly hilarious or a laugh-riot, but funny and calming at the same time, probably attributable to Katz's demeanor...
IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!.......2007-02-12
Thank you, comedy central! You would've got 5 stars, but given that Season 1 is only 6 eps, it would have been better to combine Seasons 1 & 2 in one (less expensive, overall) volume. But I'm still doin a snoopy dance--Dr. Katz was my second all-time favorite Comedy Central show & I've been waiting to upgrade my worn-out Dr. Katz VHS for AGES! Now where's the rest of it? and where's the rest of Upright Citizen's Brigade?! get on it!
WHAT A RIP-OFF!!!.......2007-01-27
I like the show ok, but the amount of content vs. the price is preposterous. Comedy Central lives up to it's name;"what a joke".
Dry but funny.......2007-01-09
Always loved the show when it was on Comedy Central, almost forgot how many big time comedians made guest spots "on the couch". Ray Romano, Dom Irrera, Kathy Griffin and a bunch of others. The only bad thing is the episodes are short (maybe 23 minutes), and there aren't that many on the dvd but, it is fairly inexpensive.

Not for younger kids.......2007-04-19
My son is a hockey fanatic at the ripe, old age of 1. I got this video because of all the rave reviews - but have been dissapointed. THere are too many breaks in the hockey clips to hold my sons attention very well. It has more talking than i waslead to believe and while the quality of the goals is as promised - the format is lacking.
So much fun!.......2007-01-17
It is the excellent DVD with great goals.
Pros.
1) Every goal is repeated a few times from different points of view.
2) Great comments from best players. However, not too many, not boring at all.
3) Goals are nicely sorted by groups. I especially like that with spin-o-ramas. Hope they will continue this tradition.
4) Fair price.
Cons.
1) Pretty short movie (46 minutes, even less if you remove all titles).
2) 3:4, not a wide screen. The picture quality is good enough though.
In spite of some disadvantages, the movie is definately worth buying. I have watched it 4 or 5 times already. I watched it even with my friends who do not like ice hockey as much as we do. My middle son, 7 years old player, love the movie and watched it more than his favourite cartoons. It is hard to imagine, but it is true. Finally, he does not like so much some other disks we have (like Stanley Cup's collections). Moreover, my older kid does not like any sports though he likes this movie! It is the best disk we have from NHL. It deserves 5 starts for sure.
Old and Cheesy.......2007-01-16
You would think that the nhl would be able to put out something better than this piece or work. The "hosts" are corny and their segments are worthless. The goals themselves are pretty good, but the most recent only go up to about 1995. So don't expect any of the recent great goals that have been scored in the NHL. Overall I would only recommend this product to fans who have followed hockey for 15 or 20 years.
Great.......2006-08-07
My 8 year old son and his father loved it! It has many older players highlighted but they still enjoyed it!
This REALLY needs to be transferred to DVD.......2005-02-22
I have owned this tape since it came out in 199(7?), and I don't understand why, with the lack of quality NHL highlights currently available on DVD ("All Access"? Please...SO dated, SO five minutes ago), we don't have this collection of all-time highlights in a more accessible format for the modern hockey fan's entertainment center.
The goals, of course, are amazing. All of the stars (well, at least those from the last quarter of the 20th Century; there simply isn't enough footage from the game's "Original Six"/1967 Expansion era to make the grade) are well-represented. The goals themselves are arranged according to category (historical significance, Stanley Cup goals, even a category for coast-to-coast and spin-o-rama scores), and you are sure to find your favorite sniper representin', from Bossy to Gretzky, Orr to Lemieux, Lafluer to Goulet to Bure to Fedorov to Jagr.
Add to the highlights the genuine goofiness of Denis Leary (terrifically unapologetic as the Boston Bruins fan he is) and some cameos and commentaries of some of the star players featured in the video (dating the presentation somewhat is the emphasis on Darren McCarty; don't worry, Wings fans...his incredible score against the Flyers in the 1997 Stanley Cup Finals is included) and the degree of levity makes the program and repeat viewings of it very enjoyable.
Maybe the NHL thinks that Denis Leary's commentary on the Stanley Cup history that is already available on DVD is enough; I think that with the state of the game as it is (specifically labor issues cancelling the 2004/05 season in its entirety and the generally dreadfully defensively suffocating nature of the game when it IS played at the NHL level), any reminder of the game's more artistic moments should be relayed to the masses...and more of the masses at this point include DVD players in their home entertainment systems than VHS decks.
Come on, Bettman...do AT LEAST ONE THING RIGHT before you completely destroy the sport; authorize the re-release of this package on DVD.
