The lightest of the first three films, Lethal Weapon 3 finds everyone occupying comfortable positions like students who always choose to sit in the same classroom seats. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover return as LAPD partners whose working method consists of the former diving into danger and the latter holding back. (The sequence set in the parking garage of a building, in which Gibson inadvertently trips a switch that makes a timed explosive device speed up, is priceless.) Joe Pesci once again plays a motor-mouth pest, and while the story is pretty much forgettable, it does introduce the best new dynamic in the series, a romance between Gibson and Rene Russo's equally tough but attractive cop. --Tom Keogh

Description
Reckless cop Riggs (Mel Gibson) and family man Murtaugh (Danny Glover) are partners whose work routine is never routine in the first three films of the series that reinvented buddy-cop action, all here in exclusive-to-DVD Director's Cuts adding footage not seen in theatres. Lethal Weapon (Disc 1/Side A) pits our squabbling heroes against a death-dealing drug ring...and Riggs takes a plunge with a would-be suicide jumper. Joe Pesci - Okay, okay, okay! - is a motor-mouthed witness needing protection in Lethal Weapon 2 (Disc 1/Side B, the series entry with the booby-trapped toilet!). And Rene Russo plays a femme alter-ego match for Riggs in Lethal Weapon 3 (Disc 2) as the cops target a colleague dealing guns to the street...and Riggs steps onto the ice to rough up a pro-hockey game. The puck stops here!

awsum movies.......2007-05-21
brilliant, copys are excellent condition and can even play them on my dvd player. and im in NEw Zealand.
Lethal Weapon 1-3.......2007-05-09
All on one DVD, what a great and easy way to upgrade.
This is the set you should get........2007-03-25
I bought this yesterday with my Bestbuy giftcard and now I highly recommend if you want the first three films, you should get this.
Pros
+ All three films are on two disc (The first disc double sided and the first one is on one side and the second one is on the other).
+ They are the same DVDs you get if you bought them separately so you don't lose anything.
+ It's Cheap!
Cons
There are no cons really but these might be to some people.
- You don't have the disc artwork for 1 or 2
- You don't have the snap cases.
- The Aspect Ratio is incorrect on the back of the case. The first film has a different ratio than 2 & 3. 2 & 3 are the same.
Warner did a great job with this set alright. Highly recommended.
Reviewing the package only, NOT the movies........2007-03-08
Buyers should know that the widescreen aspect ratio listed for LETHAL WEAPON 2 and LETHAL WEAPON 3 are incorrect. They say they're 1:85.1, when they are actually 2:35.1. I found this out the hard way, after I'd opened the package.
It's very, very disappointing not to be able to rely on the information provided by the DVD manufacturer!
This set is Great!.......2007-01-17
I reckon everyone has seen or heard of the Lethal Weapon Movies so I'm not gonna review the movies. I'm gonna review this incarnation of it, or reincarnation.
This set plays beautifully. It gives you a crisp clear picture. The extended scenes of the director's cuts are very nice. The sound quality is excellent. All in all this particular version is a great buy! Enjoy:)

Most Certainly Not a "dead issue!" .......2007-03-27
First off, to paraphrase Riggs (Mel Gibson) anything I say 'ain't gonna be much' but I'll try anyhow. This, the third film in the Lethal Weapon series, is MUCH better than other reviews here and elsewhere say. Although 2 and four are my absoloute favorites, this is a GREAT film in and of itself. The acting is worth noting first of all: Mel Gibson gives his usual, very good, 'Lethal Weaponish' ( if you will) performance and Rene Russo really brings the character of Lorna Cole to life but I'd say without a doubt that the best acting comes from Danny Glover and Stuart Wilson. For his part Glover takes the hints of real drama farther than the end of LW2 and delivers a performance I beleive to be beyond any other in the series. He is funny early on but wondefully intense and half-crazed later on especially in the scenes where he is drunk and where he interrogates a teen gang member to trace the origins of a gun. Again I cannot emphasize enough- the opening moments of Rigg's and Murtaugh's dialogue on the boat is chiilling, all thanks to Mr. Glover. At the other end of the character list, Stuart Wilson gives a deliciously evil and pun-cracking performance as non-chalant ex-cop Jack Travis. Moreover, the pure intensity in his eyes during the finale and the over-the-top nature of his character make the best LW villain sicn Arjen Rudd of LW2 (the wonderful Joss Ackland.) Of course using the profits from his illegal activities to build a housing development is bit of strange, out-there idea but looking into it one can see that greed is behind it all. More high-points the script. The humor, the drama, the characterization, the romance. It is all there and in my opinion, never was it better balanced out in the sequels than here- especially with a poignant and powerfully acted subplot involving Murtaugh shooting his son's friend in self-defense. The action- the usual, exiting chases and gun/fist fights- are top notch and some unusual ideas are thrown in as Riggs kills one Travis' cronies by throwing gas on him in a burning building. Overall the pacing is great, with the opening setup especially welldone ( wait until you see it!) and the suspense and exitment don't let up, with the finale particularly satisifing and in many ways, admirably clever. Finally, the direction, angles etc are great as are the sunts (amazing really, music (praise to Clapton and Sanborn here) and FX. Well worth seeing for the emotionally mature and those who can stomach a little gore (prepare for the afformentioned Murtaugh subplot to painful and hard to watch, emotionally speaking.) 5/5
One of my Fvaorite ones.......2007-02-01
I think the Lethal Weapon series should've just ended here. I mean I wanted more after this movie and years later we got the weak and overly silly Lethal Weapon 4. Lethal Weapon 3 has great action, great emotion and maybe even offers Gibson and Glover's best work together. Which is why they should've just ended things here. I mean Riggs just doesn't have the edge that made him cool in the first place in part 4. He's just an older goof ball who just pulls pranks on Glover and even doesn't have the long hair!
I also like the under-rated Stuart Wilson as the main villian here. He's about as crazy eyed as Riggs himself and was a better Lethal Weapon villian than Jet Li. Jet Li was cool in Lethal Weapon 4 but his character was just not built up enough and not as good as previous Lethal Weapon villians. I also like the Rene Russo and Mel Gibson relationship more here than in part 4. It's more fresh and funny here for him to have a woman who's about as nuts as him.
Joe Pesci is funny here too but with him around all the time after part 2, he's a like a tick that won't go away. Eventhough sadly, his story about his dead frog was the most emotion we got from Lethal Weapon 4. Here it's pretty heart felt when Glover accidently kills a teenager who's friends with his son. Plus as far as laughs go. Give me the scene here where Riggs makes friends with a vicious guard dog by acting like a dog. Over the scene with laughing gas in Lethal Weapon 4 any day.
Mel,Danny,Joe and Richard reunite!.......2007-01-24
The success of 1987's LETHAL WEAPON and its 1989 sequel inspired director Richard Donner to reunite himself with Mel Gibson,Danny Glover and Oscar-winner Joe Pesci for this second successful sequel. Captain Roger Murtaugh(Glover) is on the verge of retirement from the force but he doubts it's gonna happen. His partner-buddy Martin Riggs(Gibson) is trying hard to quit smoking. In one scene,Martin gives him a raw onion to eat as an aid to attempt. Rene Russo(MR. DESTINY,GET SHORTY,SHOWTIME,TIN CUP,OUTBREAK) joins the Murtaugh-Riggs team and she's tough as nails when on the job. Martin and Lorna(Russo) become boyfriend and girlfriend. The annoying Leo Getz(Pesci) is back and is again teased by Roger and Martin. In one scene,Martin shoots Leo's car tires, flattening them. Great music soundtrack which features RUNAWAY TRAIN,performed by Elton John and Eric Clapton during the end credits. I would say this is one of the Top 5 films of 1992,the others being WAYNE'S WORLD,HOME ALONE 2,THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE and BASIC INSTINCT. RT appears on EJ's THE ONE album, released the same year.
Good Film.......2007-01-12
While this is my least favorite of the four lethal Weapon films, its still a great movie. It gets four stars since I want to reserve 5 for the other films which had better endings.
Lethal Weapon 3 (Director's Cut).......2006-07-05
I am a huge fan of Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. They make a perfect team in the Lethal Weapon series. They play off each other superbly. Though the movie is based on the good guys vs the bad guys, Mel and Danny's comedian antics steal the show. I highly recommend this movie.

DTS and NEW Anamorphic Print.......2007-05-06
Great set. Not only have these fun films been remaster in a cool anamorphic 1.85:1, they ALL have the option of DTS sound.
Great fun films in a new format. Highly recommended.

Ahhh, Mel....the way you were.......2007-01-04
This series is great for a typical Mel Gibson, pre-Braveheart (and all those other movies that mad messages). Guns, explosions, dislocated shoulders and more guns. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover really did play the odd-couple of cop action-comedies the best out of all the matchups of the time.
Mel is STILL the best, to heck with Hollywood........2006-08-04
I just bought this Director's Cut set, and I still love these Lethal Weapon movies as much as the day I first saw them. There's simply not a better series of buddy cop movies ever made, especially because the chemistry between Mel Gibson and Danny Glover is just superb.
With that said, I write this after the sad news about Mel Gibson's DUI arrest, and the charges that he said some anti-semitic comments. All I can say is this. The man has a messed up father, and because of that Mel has had some demons of his own. I believe that he needs to resolve some issues, and I think he will. He's not running and hiding people. He's admitted his transgressions and is doing something to get help. Maybe, just for once, wouldn't it be nice if we didn't try to tear down every great icon of this country? Maybe instead could we give this man some support, and help him overcome his problems? Don't discredit a life full of achievements because of one mistake.
Lethal Weapon Legacy (Director's Cut 3-Pack).......2006-07-10
Lethal Weapon Legacy (Director's Cut 3-Pack) is exactly what I was looking for. I didn't want to have to buy the movies seperately. The quality of all three is excellent.
Mel Gibson and Danny Glover make a wonderful team together...just wish they had made more movies together continuing the Lethal Weapon series.
I would recommend buying this to all my friends.
MC groom.......2006-04-12
I absoultely love the Lethal Weapon Movies! You cannot deny that the chemistry between Mel Gibson and Danny Glover is brilliant. Many people already know the stories behind the Lethal Weapon Movies so this review just focuses on the actual DVDs themselves. First of all do not get the original Lethal Weapon DVD box set because this Legacy box set contains the Directors Cuts of the first three movies, whereas the other original box set contains the theatrical versions. The directors cut versions all include additional scenes that were cut out from the orginals. Having these extra scenes makes for an overall better experience and in some cases (e.x.Lethal Weapon) a more insightful experience than the originals. Lethal Weapon contains the most extra footage (which is around 7 minutes) and really adds a lot to the movie and a better understanding about Mel's character, Martin Riggs. The extra footage found on LW 2 and LW 3 is not as extensive but still adds something to each movie. All of additional scenes fit in well with the original versions, so you know that they were all probably cut right before release and were not just thrown in there. Each movie has been re-mastered and has a good overall crispness that the original ones didnt have.
The only thing holding me back from giving Legacy 5 stars is the lack of special features. LW 2 contains a short behind the scenes stunt video, and theres the usual trailers and cast info, but other than that the special features of each movie is very bare bones. Warner Bros. could have and should have done so much more with each DVD, as I know tons of bloopers, deleted scenes (different from these restored scenes), and interviews still exist from each of three Lethal Weapons. How do I know this? Just watch the "Pure Lethal" documentary found on the special features side of Lethal Weapon 4. This documentary is full of the extra stuff. The Lethal Weapon 4 DVD was released before any of these directors cuts and that had a good amount of special features on it. Warner should have kept in mind the way they did the LW 4 extras when putting together Legacy's extras. But other than that complaint this is a great, reasonably priced package, for any Lethal Weapon fan. If the special features were given more attention and if they made a LW 4 director's cut, then this would have been the perfect package.

I highly recommend this movie.

very delightful and suspenseful!.......2007-03-20
action packed, hilariously funny. see 4 yourself. a taxi so fast that equipped puke bag sfor the passengers for their passengers in case their stomachs couldn't bear the ultra high speed. we got sylvester stallone as the guest star at the very beginning as the passenger, bai ling, the controversial actress who played a x'mas robber gang leader. lotsa fun! a newest peugeot model has replaced the older one in the last and the latest taxi 4, but it suffered a huge drawback, since all the male actors became either fatter or older, and the screenplay also sadly fell flat. a time for curtain call.
the best from all 3 parts.......2007-01-21
Just amazing movie. Really great work of director and all crew. I was very much surprised when i saw this movie. It have smth that other first 2 parts don't have that kind of... charm.
I really recommend to watch this movie to everybody! Christmas mood, parents situation and still all the same - crazy and adrenaline movie.
Good end of good movie.
Probably the worst French film ever made.......2005-07-03
In fact, were it not for Timothy Hines' despicable War of the Worls con trick, this amoeba of a movie really might be the very worst film I've ever seen or ever will see, and even that's being VERY generous. Now I enjoyed the first Taxi movie, which had a sense of speed and fun even if there weren't many stunts. I even enjoyed Taxi 2 in its no-brainer way despite the worse direction (different director, held over for this one for some inexplicable reason) because it had plenty of good stunts. But this film really is like the filmmakers knew they'd have a guaranteed audience no matter what so decided to spend 83 very long minutes throwing merde at the audience to see if they'd eat it. It's that bad. No: it's worse.
It starts off with some badly shot stunts ripped off from Jackie Chan's Operation Condor that lead into our hero giving a James Bond figure a lift he'll never forget. Now obviously Pierce Brosnan's contract wouldn't let him do it, but they could have tried for Timothy Dalton or even Roger Moore. I'm sure if Roge was busy they could have got George Lazenby, who's done that sort of thing before enough times. But no, the joke falls flat because they get that epitome of suave sophisticated British espionage himself, Slyvester Stallone (dubbed badly into French) to do the part. Worse is that not only is this almost the best part of the film but it has the only stunts in the whole picture. It does lead into a very, very funny one-minute send-up of the new Bond title sequences that is genuinely terrific, but once that's over, turn off at once - you will not get the next 70 minutes of your life back and you will resent it.
It's horribly wrong on every level. The two stars don't even meet for 45 minutes, and when they do the charm is replaced with whining, there are no chases or big stunts - this from a film who's only reason to exist is car stunts - and a boring plot about Chinese villains disguising themselves as rollerblading Santas to rob Marseilles' biggest bank. But in the end, they don't bother, they go to Switzerland instead. The taxi follows them, the robbers get very easily arrested and the cop goes to hospital where the girlfriend he didn't notice was pregnant for 8 months is having a baby. The end. Add terrible, horrible mistimed 'comic' relief from Bernard Farcy playing a pompous deluded chief inspector and Bai Ling horrendously made up as the most repugnant racist stereotype of Chinese whoredom (sorry, there's no other description) in a hideously misogynist part and you've got a film that manages to be dumb, boring, pointless and offensive without ever passing 'vaguely interesting' along the way. When the best joke is a dumb comic relief black cop being run over by a car he's trying to commandeer because he's black ("It's okay, I'm used to it"), you know you're in the *beep* Never have I seen a film so lazy and with so much contempt for its audience, and I've seen three Michael Bay movies. THAT bad and worse.
BEST OF THE BEST!!!!.......2005-01-15
This is a hellova movie!!! I love it and wish they made more movies of this particular version (I mean after Taxi 3). Actors, action, sense of humor are fantastic!!!!! Car chases incredible! (Go, Peugeot! I bet Peugeot had to pay tons of money for their car's advertisement, hehe, eh?). Anyways - I highly recommend this wonderful movie!!! Especially this, French, original movie, NOT American poorly made, pathetic copy!
GO, LUC BESSON!!!

--Tom Keogh
