After he pushed the envelope of computer-generated special effects in The Abyss, director James Cameron turned this hotly anticipated sequel to Terminator into a well-written, action-packed showcase for advanced special effects and for one of the most invincible villains ever imagined. Terminator 2: Judgment Day is a legitimate sequel: there's more story to tell about a hulking, leather-clad android (Arnold Schwarzenegger) who arrives from the future to protect a rebellious teenager and future leader (Edward Furlong) from being killed by the tenacious T-1000 robot (Robert Patrick), whose liquid-metal construction makes him seemingly unstoppable. The fate of the future lies in the balance, with Linda Hamilton (who would later marry her director) reprising her role as the rugged woman whose son will change the course of history. --Jeff Shannon

Description

He said he'd be back. This time experience T2 like never before! Go EXTREME with the best picture and sound ever! ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER returns as the Terminator in this explosive action-adventure spectacle. Now he's one of the good guys, sent back in time to protect John Connor, the boy destined to lead the freedom fighters of the future. LINDA HAMILTON reprises her role as Sarah Connor, John's mother, a quintessential survivor who has been institutionalized for her warning of the nuclear holocaust she knows is inevitable. Together, the threesome must find a way to stop the ultimate enemy - the T-1000, the most lethal Terminator ever created. Co-written, produced and directed by James Cameron ("The Terminator," "Aliens," "Titanic), this visual tour de force is also a touching story of survival.

5 out of 5 stars Ultimate and Extreme DVD's the way to go.......2007-06-28

This is the second movie from James Cameron that I consider to be among the best science fiction films ever. Sequels rarely stack up to their predecessor, but this film actually outdoes the original Terminator, which is saying a lot considering how good the original was. Terminator 2 has everything you need to make an excellent sci-fi including a fantastic premise, very strong well-rounded character development, groundbreaking special effects, and the kind of story that would make Rod Serling proud. If there is ever a sci-fi movie that gives you all the best the genre has to give this is it.

One of the big deals about this movie is that it's the one that introduces to the world CG animation that actually seems to interact with a live environment as well as the morphing technique unique to computer animation. While Terminator 2 wasn't the first to do it (The Abyss gets the credit for all that... another Jim Cameron film) they do get the credit for popularizing it. Practically everybody uses computer animations with live action in one form or another today. Even over a decade later the CG effects still measure up and even outdo stuff that's still being created today.

On top of the new CG stuff you get plenty of other tried and true special effects that will knock your socks off. The action in this movie is relentless at times and will be sure impress any testosterone junkie out there. There is a lot of exciting gunplay in this movie that includes some killer military hardware too like the awesome 1500 rounds per minute minigun action reminiscent of Predator. Eye candy for those with a short attention span? Check.

If Terminator 2 only had a neato special effects and action it wouldn't be as great as it is. Everything else must work as well. The story in Terminator 2 is deep with the main characters evolving as events happen around them. Even the Terminator robot gets to get some character development. While it's cool to see the action and explosions and stuff what makes the movie really fill out is the fact it delves into several different levels of the human condition. You also get a ton of background details too like who was involved with building Skynet and even a scene with the futuristic battle that John Conner grows up to lead. The theoretical twists in the plot are enough to get the thinkers debating over time paradoxes and stuff like that. Deep and involving storyline for those who prefer quality over pizzazz? Check.

The Terminator robots are as awesome as ever. Not only do you get to see the classic style cyborg bad boy like in the last movie but you also get to see a completely different concept in killer robot technology with the T-1000. The future scene has even more robot coolness to offer, though it's just a little more than what I saw in the last movie (but still sweet!).

The acting is superb as well, which is surprising considering Edward Furlong has absolutely no previous experience in acting. Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton play off each other well. Robert Patrick gives a stunning and eerie performance as the T-1000. The soundtrack takes the original Terminator themes and puts them to new heights. The music truly enhances the movie here.

If the original movie wasn't enough Cameron decided to make an extended cut with almost 20 minutes of new footage. I wouldn't necessarily say the new footage opens up brand new territory for the movie, but I will say the extra scenes do add some extra depth to some of the scenes. A couple of the new scenes flesh out young John Conner's character a little, which is always a good thing. I wouldn't say any incredibly cool scenes were added though there is one with the Terminator that is kinda cool, but the good stuff in that scene has more to do with fleshing out some character development with the humans than cool cyborg tricks. Speaking of cyborg tricks you get the added bonus of seeing a Terminator try to smile. Funny, funny stuff! While I can't say the extended edition is better than the original I will say it does give you more background on the story, and thats always good if you're into that.

With the exception to blu-ray fans there are only two DVD editions you should consider (the rest don't have any special features). The Ultimate Edition and the Extreme Edition. Essentially what you have is a trade off between the two. Neither edition have the same special features. The Extreme edition improved the picture quality slightly while the Ultimate edition has DTS. Here is a breakdown:

Ultimate Edition: You get three versions of the movie. The theatrical release, the director's cut and an extended director's cut via an easter egg (EDC basically includes the deleted scenes). You get three in depth documentaries including one on the Universal Studios 3-D ride. Commentaries from the crew (no James Cameron). Also included are several smaller featurettes covering all aspects of production, tons of storyboards, a 30 page hard cover booklet insert and the screenplay. Not to mention THX certified test signal package for fine tuning your audio set up, Dolby 5.1, Dolby 2.0 and DTS 5.1 for all the audio freaks out there.

Extreme Edition: Two versions of the movie with the director's cut being on the disk and the theatrical trailer as a DVDRom movie (via Windows Media Player... although you can see the theatrical version on the DVD via an easter egg). An audio commentary from director James Cameron and screenwriter William Wisher, very comprehensive text commentaries with over 90 minutes of branching video footage, a 24 minute documentary and a 12 page hard copy booklet insert.

If you have no version of T2 on DVD I would recommend the Ultimate Edition since it has the most features. Although the Extreme Edition is still worthy for its James Cameron commentary track and the excellent text commentary. Since the extras are completely different between the two this might not be a bad double dip if you get them at the current low prices. The blu-ray version has only the theatrical version (no director's cut), but includes the commentaries from BOTH the Ultimate and Extreme editions. I say wait for a better high definition release.

If you haven't seen this movie I strongly recommend it. VERY strongly. You action fans will get plenty of mayhem for your pleasure. You content fans will get rich and full storylines with character drama. You sci-fi purists will get the kind of story you would expect to be reading from someone like Phillip K. Dick. This is required viewing for any sci-fi fan. Nuff said.

4 out of 5 stars HD version without DD5.1.......2007-06-19

I bought the DVD in order to watch the Hi-Def version. I already have the older version of the movie, and I've seen it many times over the years. I have an HP laptop running Windows Vista, hooked up to my 50" Panasonic HDTV (1280x720), with the VGA connection. I loaded the disk, and it prompted me to install the InterActual player. Vista warned me that the program has issues with the new operating system. I went ahead, and installed it anyway, then immediately downloaded the newest version from the Internet. It then told me that I needed a DVD decoder that I could buy on their web page. I ignored that message, and went on to play the HD version of the movie. It played OK, after some initial stuttering during the first few screens.

The picture quality was very good, but the audio was not Dolby Digital 5.1, meaning that there is no surround sound. I followed up on the InterActual web page, and they confirmed this. Apparently, Microsoft used some other audio encoding. So, even though the picture quality is better, I chose to watch the lower definition, extended edition in order to get the DD5.1 sound. I find the sound quality is at least as important as the video quality.

The standard definition image is still very good. The nVidia chip set in my laptop does a nice job of upscaling. The 5.1 sound is spectacular as ever. The added minutes in the extended edition don't really add much, but the novelty effect is nice anyway. All in all, I'd say that it is worth the price at under $10.00.

5 out of 5 stars Owes just as much to "Aliens" as it does its predecessor.......2007-06-17

It's no surprise that the editors of "Entertainment Weekly" would choose both "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" and "Aliens" as two of its 25 Best Action Films of all time. Both are sequels that significantly up the special effects ante, along with the body count, and both feature two of the movies most dynamic kick-[...] heroines, Sarah Conner (Linda Hamilton" in the former and Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) in the latter.

Besides doubling the action of the first, "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" also doubles the cyborg quotient by returning Arnold Schwarzenegger in the role that he was born to play (this time as a "good" cyborg) and bringing in a more than equal combatant/foe in the from of the Robert Patrick as an "upgraded" model. The movie adds an element of surprise in the form of the much smaller (and less developed) Patrick as a superior model to Arnold's character, able to best the strongman in many a scene.

The movie also brings back Earl Boen in an expanded role as the befuddled "Dr. Silberman." He brings needed comic relief in a film that is short on words but long on action sequences.

James Cameron may have felt on "top of the world" a decade later with his Oscar-winning "Titanic" but it is for the first two "Terminator" films that he probably made his greatest cinematic impact.

3 out of 5 stars High Def does not work in Vista.......2007-06-08

The movie is great, great package with lots of good features. However the WMP video could not be played at all. Some may experience this and some may not. You will to install the Interactual player to view the WMHD version.

5 out of 5 stars Let's Shed Some Light.......2007-05-27

i love this film being a big film buff and all but also i've noticed that the price is fantastic and is even more cheaper in certain stores, anyway when i bought the dvd and popped it in the dvd player i was amazed with the picture pure high def 1080p i mean i baught this movie for 5.50 and it's in high definition, the blu-ray version is like 20 or 25 bucks so i'm wonderin why make a whole nother disc-format and just make standard dvd's in high def i mean perhaps u can't fit any special features but why not just make them double sided dvd's and put the special features on the other side instead of movie companies using 2 discs and waste money. i believe this will prevail and end the war against blu-ray vs. hd-dvd and just keep blank blu-ray discs for information purposes. I mean i love blu-ray and i want one so bad but u gotta pay up the nose just to get one, at least players are becoming more and more affordable but i dont want to have to convert all my 700 dvds to high def formats. it's interesting how Artisan backed this movie and now it doesnt exist anymore as soon as the high def battle started, Lionsgate is now mastering all thier old movies and they back up blu-ray 100%, it just makes you think what coinsidences emerged with all this, terminator 2 on standard dvd is in high def (for us in the US anyway) it cost me 5.50 its just a big mystery to me...

3 out of 5 stars Go for the Ultimate or Extreme edition. .......2007-06-22

I love this movie, it is one of my all time favorites. I recently upgraded to a Blu-Ray player and this is one of the first movies I bought. I am hugely disappointed in the quality and features of this BD. It honestly sux. I went from the Ultimate edition to this BD edition and took a huge step back. The quality is about the same as the Ultimate or Extreme editions and there are no bonus features. This was one of the big movies I bought a Blu-ray player for, so you can understand my disappointment. I will probably sell it and re-buy the Ultimate or Extreme edition. I recommend waiting to see if they come out with an Ultimate or Extreme edition on Blu-ray before buying this one.

5 out of 5 stars im happy with this version.......2007-04-21

it may not be the extended version with cut scenes. I will say i watched this movie on digital cable and compared it to the blu0ray version and trust me there is a big difference more colors no smearing of facial features like on the cable version and the sound is incredible. If your hdtv sucks then blu-ray version may suffer if the difference is not noticable its your tv
and not the blu-ray disc. This is a must have for terminator fans!

2 out of 5 stars Upscaled DVD at Best!!!.......2007-04-18

High hopes were set in place for this blu-ray release, and I have to admit I am sadly dissapointed.

The transfer is only a 'fraction' above watching a SD DVD version upscaled, which is a real shame.

Buy at your own risk, or wait for a much better release, hopefully Director's Cut, remastered and all.

2.5/5 for effort.

5 out of 5 stars Great movie on bluray.......2007-03-25

I bought this movie because I'm a fan and it is one of my top five action movies of all time. I wanted to see this film at it's best on bluray and I was not disappointed. The picture and sound is awsome. The commentary by James Cameron is a treat, one the most interesting commentarys I've listend to. It lacks some of the extras that dvd versions may have contained, but the bluray transfer of of the movie is superior to the dvd version. Finally, I can enjoy a sharp picture on my wide screen.

2 out of 5 stars DVD quality at best.......2007-03-24

Anyone with a upconverting DVD player, or just a Blu-ray / PS3 will get the same quality of picture from the standard DVD. The transfer of this movie would need to be cleaned up digitally before it will be up to what Blu-ray can show. It's truely shocking the difference in quality between the menue footage which is true 1080p and fresh VS the lower grade transfure from the film with no digital clean-up. Anyone with the standard DVD should just save their money.

3 out of 5 stars Widdle Wawa Cwoft.......2005-08-06

In 1993 a producer named Sharad Patel brought together the funding for a low-budget straight-to-video flick called *Cyborg II--The Glass Shadow*. If Mr. Patel still gets royalties from it, he must doing pretty good for himself. That's because there's a big reason for people today to purchase the *Cyborg II* DVD--Angelina Jolie. Uh, she's this Oscar-winning actress who in recent times was voted the world's most beautiful and sexy woman? She played her first film role in *Cyborg II*. (Actually, before this she had a brief appearance as a child in *Looking' To Get Out*, released in 1982.)

Apart from Jolie, *Cyborg II* is totally forgettable. It's a sci-fi movie, the motto of which is "Future Beware." Angelina plays Casella (Cash) Reese, a cutting-edge cyborg of the year 2074. Elias Koteas is Colton Ricks, her human martial arts instructor and lover. Billy Drago plays bad guy Master Bench, a professional killer who chases Cash and Ricks around a nightmarish cityscape enshrouded by a dimly-glowing red night of industrial fog.

*Cyborg II* pretends to be inspired by the novels of Philip K. Dick and William Gibson. I'll bet, though, that Mr. Patel and director Michael Schroeder never heard of Dick or Gibson. Actually *Cyborg II* is really only an imitiation of other movies that were inspired by those novelists. Think *Blade Runner* and *Johnny Memnonic*. But hey, those movies cost something to make. Mr. Patel probably catered samosas to a dozen desi weddings to get the few thousand he needed to pay for this knock-off. Naah, I'm just joking. One has to look for them, but there are scenes that suggest some decent production values were in play. I just can't remember any right now.

*Cyborg II* pretends a logical connection to the original *Cyborg* starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. I wouldn't have noticed that connection if it weren't for a few seconds of Van Damme flashbacks. These flashbacks are downloaded into Cash's artificial brain in an attempt to give her and the viewer a clue to what's going on. The attempt fails, at least as far as this viewer is concerned. But the good news is that Cash has a cyborg's version of a wet dream over the flashbacks. (Did Angie have the hots for Van Damme back in '93? Sure seems like it!) Elias Koteas sorta looks French, so I guess casting him as the male lead is another stab at continuity with the first *Cyborg.* However, Koteas as a martial artist can be compared to Billy Bob Thornton as a musician. At best, so-so.

*Cyborg II*'s plot, what there is of one, is something about cut-throat competition in the cyborg sector between Japan and America. Something about the US techno-giant Pinwheel Corp. beating Kobayashi of Japan in the development of cyborgs with true AI. Cash is the first of this new type of cyborg off the Pinwheel assembly line. Pinwheel also makes this powerful liquid explosive called Glass Shadow that blends with a cyborg's internal fluids, turning the man-machine into a walking bomb that cannot be detected. Cash is pumped full of this stuff. There's something about the Pinwheel scientist who invented Cash and Glass Shadow--he's just a total weird beard. A Nerdosaurus Rex. Dude has his own secret plan to destroy both the Japanese and American cyborg manufacturers. And take over the world. I guess.

Cash was programmed by the weird beard to go to Japan. There she's supposed to wipe out the Kobayashi bigwigs by blowing herself up like an Al Quaeda suicide bomber. But Cash's Pinwheel-trademarked brain has a mind of its own. She falls in love with Ricks, who trains cyborgs for Pinwheel. There's something about a ship, see, that can take Cash and Ricks to Mombasa. Mombasa is the only city on earth where they'll be free of Pinwheel and the weird beard. But to board the ship Ricks first has to kill this maniac Master Bench. See, Bench is very mad at Cash and Ricks because his face is rotting off. From time to time this other cyborg chick in a red Japanese dragon lady outfit shows up to fight with Cash, Ricks, and Master Bench together. She's a Kobayashi product but works for the weird beard.

If that's not wacky enough for you, there's this ancient half-robot dude code-named Mercy who looks like Clint Eastwood but is actually Jack Palance. Mercy plans the escape of Ricks and Cash to Mombasa. Why he does this is not clear. Well, OK, something about him being the leader of an underground rebellion. That, plus he gets his jollies by "interfacing" with Cash when she and Rick get down to hot sessions of hunchy-punchy. See, in *Cyborg II* the word "interfacing" means to do totally unexplainable stuff with electronic communications. Like, from time to time Mercy appears as a weird-looking eye or mouth on any TV screen he likes? Even broken or unplugged ones? He spies on people through the TV and, if he feels like it, he talks to them through it. He can even make a broken or unplugged TV set jump around to wherever he wants it to go. Ricks asks him how he does it. "Black magic!"is Mercy's answer. Kewl! Just like the homegirl down the well in *The Ring*--only *Cyborg II* did it first! Yikes. At least Mercy doesn't come crawling herky-jerky out of TVs to give people black magic facelifts.

Angelina Jolie, who was a teen when she made *Cyborg II*, is a sight to see: a lovely liquid-eyed girl-child with ripened plum-red lips. Her tender features are framed by long flying hair parted in the middle. You just want to hug her and whisper warnings in her ear about funky old Billy Bob waiting for her six years in the future. Having written that paean to Angie the Teen Sweetie, I must quickly add that in *Cyborg II* she comes off as the compleat Goth girl. There's one scene in which Cash goes into a seizure triggered by a signal from the Pinwheel Corp. Angie's face is cast in a strange mixture of light: her skin looks pale blue, accented by orange flickers from a nearby fire. As the seizure takes hold horror fills her eyes. They grow huge and staring. Her mouth drops open. Her body quivers uncontrollably. Like a vampire princess, Angie looks gorgeous and ghoulish at the same time.

She's in a lot of martial arts combat scenes. But she strikes me like some cute kid who saw Tomb Raider and who's now trying to be a widdle Wawa Cwoft. Just. Totally. Adorable. In one love scene with Koteas, Teen Angie gets a little nekkid. But hey, Koteas as Ricks is not molesting a child, he's just having sex with a machine, OK?

Oh, another thing that's prophetic in a very Goth way: after a bullet nicks Ricks in the ear, Angie as Cash dabs her finger in his blood, licks it, and comments. "Not bad. Mine's a little too sweet." Yeah, yeah...flash forward a couple years to Angie using her own blood to write her first husband's name on the back of her wedding t-shirt; and flash a few more years ahead to the phial of Hillbilly Bob's blood hung round her neck.

As an actress Angie is no doubt green in *Cyborg II*. But zips and blips of talent do shine through. My personal favorite scene is when the dragon lady cyborg has removed Cash's head and is reading her optical memory. The dragon lady says, "You've been a naughty girl." Cash's head answers, "It's in my program."

I give *Cyborg II* a generous 3 stars simply because it's so much fun watching a teenage Angelina Jolie rehearse for her future kickass roles. She even ends up in Africa, which reminds me of her visits to that country as UNHCR goodwill ambassador. If not for her, *Cyborg II* would deserve 2 stars. It's not a terrible movie...exactly. It's a 99-minute long sci-fi flick that's about to the standard of an *Outer Limits* episode. Not too bad. But not very good either.

Funny thing about the Trimark DVD. There's some trailers on it for other titles. One of them is a 1992 movie called *Leprechaun* that stars a very young-looking Jennifer Aniston.

3 out of 5 stars Bad in an interesting way.......2005-02-14

The first Cyborg film was an early entry in Jean-Claude Van Damme's filmography. Directed by one of the great hacks in the industry, Albert Pyun, "Cyborg" told the harrowing story of a world decimated by a devastating plague. Only a few shreds of civilization remain in this blasted world, a world largely populated by ragtag bands of survivors and packs of murderous cyborgs. A few of the more enlightened types at the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta send out a female cyborg with instructions to recover a cure for this horrific plague. Problems quickly ensue, particularly once a band of especially heinous cyborgs learn of this mission and attempt to capture the Disease Control's operative; they believe doing so will allow them to return to Atlanta and find a wealth of weapons and other valuables. In order to avoid these murderous goons, the female cyborg hooks up with Jean-Claude, who plays some sort of protector/tracker for hire. Of course, Van Damme's character has a tragic past that ties in with the very same goons involved in tracking down the female cyborg. Lots of action sequences, most of which aren't that bad, follow. "Cyborg" is actually an entertaining science fiction film.

What does the above description have to do with "Cyborg 2"? Nothing, actually, since the second film has zero connection with the original. In this outing, the movie introduces us to an unpleasant future world in which two megacorporations vie with each other for supremacy of the world cyborg market. One of these companies, Pinwheel, hatches a plot to sabotage its competitor by rigging up a female cyborg named Cash (Angelina Jolie) with a special explosive called Glass Shadow that will detonate at an important conference. The resulting explosion, hopefully, will obliterate the upper echelon of this competing corporation and thus make them vulnerable to a hostile takeover. Obviously, Cash has no idea about these plans. Nor does her martial arts trainer Colton Ricks (Elias Koteas). But when the two fall in love and flee from the Pinwheel compound, all of these plans eventually come out into the open. The director of the operation, Martin Dunn (Allen Garfield), brings in a couple of bounty hunters to capture the valuable Cash. One of them is Chen (Karen Sheperd) and the other one is far, far worse. This interesting figure is Danny Bench (Billy Drago), a man whose face suffered grievous injury in a prior operation. The injury has, shall we say, unbalanced the poor guy in the worst possible way.

Cash and Ricks thus face formidable obstacles if they wish to get away. Every authority figure in the city is after them since relationships between cyborgs and human beings violate some sort of corporate criminal code. Fortunately, an enigmatic figure by the name of Mercy (Jack Palance) pops up from time to time with advice and helpful hints on where to go and what to do. In the beginning we only see Mercy talking to the characters via video screen, but we soon learn he's an important ex-military figure, part cyborg himself, and heads up some sort of underground movement fighting against the scurrilous activities of Pinwheel. He helps out Cash and Ricks because he once had a wife he loved too. Awwwwww, ain't that sweet! Why can't cyborgs and humans just love one another? Anyway, Mercy can't step in and do everything for our two lovebirds. Colton Ricks must battle the insane Danny Bench in a sort of gladiatorial fight down at the shipyards in order to win enough money to buy passage out of the country. Throughout all of this action, Martin Dunn is scheming away back at Pinwheel without any inkling that he and Mercy are about to have a most informative showdown.

I'm likely making "Cyborg 2" sound much, much better than it actually is. If not for the presence of Jolie, Koteas, and Palance, this movie would likely sink into utter obscurity. I'm not entirely sure it shouldn't anyway. I'm betting the three principals wish they could forget about it, especially Jolie. She's only nineteen years old in this one and her acting skills leave a lot to be desired. Prepare to cringe when checking out the scene where Pinwheel activates the explosives in Cash's body. Jolie jerks and spasms around like a fish out of water in a hilariously bad piece of acting that evokes recollections of Elizabeth Berkeley's pool maneuvers in "Showgirls." She's just dreadful in "Cyborg 2" despite the lips and long hair. Koteas is slightly better, but the script doesn't give him much to do other than run around with Jolie and look perplexed. Much better is Billy Drago, a man B-movie fanatics will instantly recognize as one of the silver screen's most lovable psychotics. His performance here is so over the top that it nearly saves the film. The biggest problem with "Cyborg 2" isn't the uneven performances but the low budget. The set pieces are cheap, the action scenes aren't that great, and the dialogue is largely laughable.

Extras on the disc begin and end with trailers for "Leprechaun," "The Colony," and "Blood and Sand." As much I disliked certain aspects of the film, it's still worth watching for a number of reasons. Angelina Jolie fans will want to tune in to see what she looked like back in the day, Jack Palance fans will enjoy some of his lines, Billy Drago fans will get a kick out of yet another one of his turns as a bad guy, and B-movie aficionados will chuckle over the cheapness of the whole thing. I think three stars is a fair assessment of the movie on the whole; it's bad, but it's bad in a sort of drive by a traffic accident and stop and look sort of way.

2 out of 5 stars Not the "Cyborg" I was expecting...........2005-01-17

I have come to the conclusion that the writter of "Cyborg 2" wrote a script called "Cyborg" until he found out there was already a movie called that. He went "Oh Hell!", rewrote the script by slapping in a few "references" to the original film and slapped a "2" in the title and called it good. As you can tell this film has little to no connection to the original Van Damne actionier. Its basically a totally different film thats only connection is that they both have a "cyborg". Say what you will, but I enjoyed the original Cyborg for what it was. It was a no brain karate flick with some sci fi undertones that took place in a post apocalyptic "Road Warrior" like future. This sequel however has the action take a back seat as the as the sci fi/love story takes over in a post apocalyptic "Blade Runner" like future. This could be a good or bad thing in some peoples eyes. I was expecting something along the lines of the first film and I did not get that. Apparently the director/writer of Cyborg 2 thought it necessary to make another sequel, a sequel I will not bother to watch.

5 out of 5 stars a cool movie!!!.......2003-12-12

The reason why this has nothing to do with the first one is because the script was written to be the sequel to Masters of the Universe. When they decided not to do a sequel, they changed the names and made Cyborg 2. There ya go! Cool movie...

1 out of 5 stars Seen better things.......2003-10-12

OK, so most of the reviews I read for this film said how great it was, well I for one think those opinions are based on the fact that young men and some women who enjoyed it mainly thrived on the sight of seeing Angelina's breasts. The acting was poor, the script was stupid, and the sets were lame. I have seen some pretty bad movies in my time (ie Killer Kondom) but this one took the cake.. I would watch tromavision flicks over this one ANY day. save your money. If you want to see a good sci fi type movie watch ones that have been in the box office for more than a week ;)

The digital video disc of this blockbuster hit is presented with a digitally mastered THX soundtrack. --Jeff Shannon

1 out of 5 stars Cliched and unpleasant.......2006-10-04

Movies like this are best left on the drawing board. The action is weak, the performances are awful, the scripting is terrible, the effects are super cheap and the budget is extremely low. Why make a futuristic sci-fi movie when the budget does not permit decent effects, stunts or sets? Made-for-TV movies have better effects than this movie does. Anton Lewellyn (Richard Lynch) is The Recycler, a cyborg (cybernetic organism) gone bad. He trolls the vast wasteland in search of other cyborgs so he can recycle their body parts, which he sells to Lord Talon (Malcolm Mcdowell). Though he receives top billing, McDowell is only in the movie for two scenes, totaling perhaps five minutes. Casella Reese (Khrystyne Haje) is the first cyborg to ever become impregnated and The Recycler wants the reward for it. Evans (Zach Galligan) helps Reese fend off Lewellyn and his fellow cyborg turned evil, Jocko (Andrew Bryniarski). The writing is uninspired and clichéd, replete with synchronized motorbike stunts and lines such as, "Don't you see? He's using you!" The final, epic battle in the movie is so bad it is painful to watch. It wouldn't be terrible if it did not take itself so seriously, but this is all extremely lowbrow and carelessly made for the undiscerning viewer who revels in trash cinema. The only reason to see this might be for the beautiful Khrystyne Haje, but even that is marginal at best.

          5 out of 5 stars Cyborg 3-Recycler.......2002-02-11

Lucas Wiman in the opinion of the present reviewer should get himself a brain with a little more appreciative intelligence. From his personalia it is obvious that anything outside the extreme of the highly specialised academic nothing else is worthwhile. At 18 he doesn't seem to appreciate that entertainment is entertainment. I found the video presents some unusual facets of life expressed by scenarios that in our present way of thinking or experiencing are just not around. The acting was more than adequate and special effects are there to stimulate which not only adds to the story but also give that extra zing. As entertainment I consider the video is good entertainment and also good value for money.

5 out of 5 stars A study in bad acting.......2002-01-24

This movie is really, profoundly bad. Not only are the special effects horrible (a given), but the acting is really, really, really, very bad indeed. If you are teaching an acting class, buy this video, show it, and tell your students not to do what those actors did. After that treatment, they should be wonderful. Highpoints include "cytown", the town of cyborgs and the pregant cyborg. Also included are Malcolm McDowell (for about 3 minutes), and the actor who played Jesus in Pulp Fiction.

...I certainly didn't consider this movie a waste of my time! I really enjoyed it. It's my hobby to watch really horrible movies, and I think this one certainly qualifies. Perhaps I'm shallow, but I didn't find any great insights into the human condition in this movie. I did, however, find it highly entertaining.
