Pay no attention to the fact that Timecop is an insult to intelligent science fiction, and that it gradually succumbs to an acute case of the sillies. It is a Jean-Claude Van Damme movie, after all, so check your brain at the door and enjoy this action flick set in the year 2004. Van Damme plays an officer in the Time Enforcement Police, assigned to prevent criminals from traveling to the past with the intent of altering the future. Ron Silver plays the evil politician who plots to retrieve a stockpile of gold from the Civil War to finance his latest campaign. The film is clever to a point, and entertaining if you can ignore the dumb jokes and inconsistencies. Best of all, it's an above-average vehicle for Van Damme (relatively speaking), who gets to kick some villainous butt and share a few scenes with Mia Sara, who plays the Timecop's wife. As Van Damme fans can tell you, this is one of the action star's better movies. --Jeff Shannon

NOW I COULD EASYLY SAY THIS WILL GO DOWN AS ONE OF THE GRATEST MOVE EVER MADE IN THE WORLD THAT IS SO FOR SHORE & THAT IS PUTTING IT LIGHTLY
Fun with time travel.......2007-02-18
This is an interesting action/adventure/mystery film with time travel elements. It also has great cinematography. I really like the story. Some parts are a little gruesome, and I have to close my eyes.
Gotta give the ppl what the ppl really want........2007-02-04
Well in the beginning of the early dvd stages movie studios were adepting anyways. I had this film on laserdisc and its orgnial oar was 2.35:1 so whats the problem universal. As many films in there library the shadow also was in widescreen in laserdisc also maybe in the future universal will start producing more titles in there widescreen products. Even more studios double dipping these days thats what i call a re-release of a film special editions blah blah better late then never right or trying to make the ppl spend more money when they double dip or dont wanna spend the extra time and quaily and money even bad movies get nice transfers look at the newly released gymkata geez. But universal its 2007 jump on the widescreen bandwagon from all the older release you've released from the beginning twins, timecop, the shadow, kindergaten cop,i'm putting faith in you now give the ppl what the ppl really want thanks for reading.
Van Damme always gets his man.......2007-01-23
I loved this movie when it first came out, so when I saw it cheap I had to buy it, only to be a little disappointed. It certainly wasn't as good as I had remembered it being. It is very early nineties in every way. Van Damme's acting is just dreadful, but that comes as no surprise, no-one watches his movies for his acting abiliteis. All of his awesome martial arts moves are here, along with his corny one-liners. It is sad that his stunt double was obviously used quite regularly.
There are a couple of other good performances by Ron Silver as the bad guy, and Mia Sara as the love interest, who is so tiny, Van Damme could snap her in half. This one is for fans only, for anyone else it is merely just lost in time.
Pretty Much a Classic.......2006-07-09
For Future Films this is a good one. Pretty much a classic. Van Dame is as good as ever and the show is great on DVD. The story is great - trying to take over the Country through time manipulation. What more can you ask for ?

Throw "Timecop 2" in the garbage bin, because it's nothing but trash..........2007-01-14
If you want to checkout a good Jason Scott Lee film, I recommend the following:
Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story
Rapa Nui
"Timecop 2: The Berlin Decision" is an awful film. Awful production values. Awful acting. Awful script. I would not recommend this film to be watched by anyone who seriously believes that tripe like this is quality entertainment or advances Asian American awareness in Hollywood (This film does neither.).
I would at the very least say that this film is passable entertainment on a rainy day if you ever come across it while channel surfing. If you are curious, perhaps a rental from Netflix, but this film is definitely not for keeps.
If you are one of the few people who watched this film as a means to raise your Asian American film awareness, and came away disappointed, then I recommend the following films for your personal viewing. These are well-written films with high production values that feature a talented cast of Asian American actors:
Better Luck Tomorrow
Mulan
it's pretty good.......2007-01-12
the first movie was based on a corrupt politician trying to change the past so he can become president. this movie is based on what would happen if a person goes back in time to change improtant historical events. it's moral vs. logic. jason scott lee's jeet kune do action sequences are up to par. meaning, jeet kune do is more on the lines of street fighting. you're not going to see any flipping or flying this movie. thank goodness. the rest of the cast could be changed with better actors. yea, this movie was dvd release only but is a pretty good movie to watch. if you're a hardcore van damme fan, then don't get it but if you don't give a hoot and want to watch a time traveling martial arts movie with second grade acting but with an interesting story bethind it, then get it. i would.
Pretty Good for the 2nd film in the series.......2006-07-09
This one is a considerly more active than the 1st one so its little less classical than the 1st one. It starts with the Nazi's, goes to the Wild West and everywhere in between. I think it misses the actors from 1st one but as second fims goes this is an enjoybale 2 hours on DVD.
Surprisingly entertaining!.......2006-05-04
I have fairly high standards for sci-fi movies, and sequels are rarely as good as the original movie, so I was definitely surprised at how entertaining this movie was. There were only a couple of turnoffs worth mentioning.
First, they spent way too much time debating the moral argument surrounding the use of time travel to "correct" histories mistakes/tragedies. As a species, we humans have screwed up just about everything else we've put our hands to, and now we think we're wise enough to start messing with history??? I know we have a hard time passing up the opportunity to PLAY god, but the reality remains that there is only one God and you aint Him.
Second, the narrative sequence at the end of the movie (giving us updates on how everyone's lives turned out) was far too goody-goody "they all saved the planet and lived happily ever after" and was poorly done to boot (watch for the misspelled words!).
Yeah, there are parts of the movie that don't make sense, but that's almost impossible to avoid when dealing with time travel themes. Overall, a pretty entertaining flick.
Makes No Sense.......2005-09-25
If I could give this movie less than 1 star, I would.
The central character, Ryan, played by Jason Scott Lee (by the way, what happened to the Muscles from Brussels?), is a loser. Why? Because HE SAVES ADOLF HITLER'S LIFE!!! And how does he do this? By killing the leading lady.
Gee, great script guys.
Also, the thing makes no sense. People are obliterated from history, and Ryan knows about it! Hello, if they were removed from history, he would have no memory of them. Duh!
If there was such a thing as a 'Time Cop', they would outlaw people wasting 2hrs watching this ridiculous movie!

One of Jean Claudes better roles.......2000-08-06
Having always been a fan of Time Travel, this film appealed to me. I try to overlook the fact that Van Damme is in it, but it still has moments which you love to see. Like the Civil Wars soldiers being blasted by lasers. All-in-all, its probably worth consideration for your DVD library
Timecop, old but new.......2000-07-04
Timecop is a very good version of the old tried-and-true "what happens if? ......" time travel genre. Everyone should know by now that Walker, the Time Enforcement Commission agent, runs afoul of power mad politicians, really bad guys, and not a few paradoxes as he goes about his job as a TEC good guy. Not much is new here. However, the picture is well directed and filmed. The acting is good, if not great, and the characters are quite believable (even the bad guys). Sets and video quality are very good to excellent and make it easy to watch. The special effects are fairly original and don't contain much wasted or excessive boom and flame (of course, the house does blow up a lot of times, but what the hey?). I particularly loved the exit into the past with its ripples and characteristic sound. Overall, Timecop was a flashy remake of the time travel theme with better than average acting and good special defects. There are thrills galore, lots of entertainment, and it even offers some intellectual stimulation to go with the serious action content. I would recommend it to anyone interested in Sci-Fi or action thrillers. Van Damme lovers must buy this disk, period. The video and sound quality are much more impressive that the best VHS copy. Only the LaserDisk version came close to equaling the DVD.
