4 out of 5 stars Good vintage surfing.......2006-12-29

If you like Endless summer and those types of vintage Surfing movies this is the one for you. Siestas and Olas is a wonderful nostalgic roadtrip/surfing movie with entertaining narration and of course some great waves.I felt like I had lived the trip myself by the end. Good fun and relaxing.

5 out of 5 stars Coastal relaxing & Adventure.......2006-11-15

If you are into surf documentaries this is a movie for you. If you are not into documentaries this is the movie for you. All you got to have an affinity for is culture and beaches. Man this movie can take you right in the heart of what it is to be a pro surfer in search of the most secluded surf spots. Check this film out now! Ciao.

5 out of 5 stars Don't sleep on this excellent film!.......2006-11-03

Get your surf buddies together, grab some beers and enjoy this beautiful movie. Shot on real film, the image quality far surpasses your typical surf video footage. Combine this visual quality with the scenery and waves of costal mexico, top notch surfing and easy going travelogue-esque story telling and you have the best surf film I've seen in a *long* time.

2 out of 5 stars they sould of called in mainland mex surf trip.......2006-10-31

This movie is the biggest rip off of Bruce Brown around. The narration is horrible and the surfing is average at best. The only stylish surfer is Joel Tudor (of course), but the only good part is the end with the massive waves. They talked of Baja for about 5 minutes then the rest has to do with mainland mex. I would recommend spending your money elsewhere.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect with a Corona or Dos Equis.......2006-07-11

So my basic review rules for a surf movie are...

1. Would you watch it again.
2. Does it transport you somewhere else.
3. Does it inspire you to break out the board.

And the answer to all of the above is yes.

This one gets a thumbs up for capturing the vibe of surfing Mexico and a classic surfari movie (including the obligatory hokey humor and narrative, which this one has). Some great surf spots and surfing and generally a fun way to get south of the border when you're locked in the daily grind. I even bought a second copy for a friend and gave it to him with a large bottle of Corona. Enjoy!
