I was so disappointed by this purchase and this film. Being a fan of the book I was very excited to see how they translated it on to film. What I found out is that they didn't translate it at all. They LOOSELY followed the story line and took the liberty to add and change which in my opinion, changed the story all together. I threw this movie away and would not reccomend it to any true Story of O fan.

Somehow, I was expecting better acting, knowing this would be a major undertaking based on a controversial book. Sadly, the film just doesn't work. There's no arguing Corrine Clery's beauty but Udo Kier is completely miscast.

The book is amazing; this movie adaptation is quite poor. Although the actress who plays O is quite beautiful, and there are some fairly erotic scenes, this movie is deeply flawed, and I can't recommend it. The plotline gets totally garbled, especially toward the end, to the point where it runs entirely contrary to the book's intention on several key philosophical and psychological points. Second, the actor who plays Stephen is absolutely one of the worst casting choices I've ever seen; doesn't fit the role one bit. So please, read the book. If you've already read the book and love it, it is probably worth your while to eventually see this film, but expect to be disappointed.
Is this really what most "normal people" call erotic?.......2007-02-17
This is one of the most boring films I ever watched. There is nothing erotic in it. The whole story is perverted with a poor, innocent but very stupid woman submitting to the sadist fantasies of various "lovers" she is introduced. I put inverted comas in lovers because none of them have a single tender erotic moment with her, but instead they brutally beat her and rape her in the presence of others, who seem to be totally oblivious to the proceedings.

I have not yet read the originating novel, but I have just finished watching this movie for the second time. I was renting it. Now I'm going to buy it - one of very few, as I almost never buy movies.
I must say that I found much more in it the second time. The first time not only did the physical and emotional whippings disturb me but, just as much, O's willing apparent debasement and her masters' disregard for her feelings - they only seemed to care about her obedience. This is an anti-turnon for me. The sex scenes are not really convincing, nor are the whippings. I realized that I, as audience, was not being asked to accept that much pain or that much pleasure from either.
The male characters are much more flat than the female ones, particularly O, as if they really didn't count. And there was something in this most beautiful woman's portrayal which left me thinking it wasn't at all simple.
Bottom line, it is abundantly clear that this is far, far more than an S&M movie, nor is it about bondage, submission and domination, or any other kind of sexual perversion or obsession.
Some phrases stuck out to me, although I'm not sure I'm quoting exactly accurately. The narrator said the O loved everything and everyone that came to her because it came to her by request from her lover. She said that O knew that if she lasted to the end that all would be given to her. O's apparent peace of mind about everything that happened to her simply didn't gybe with a debasement/submissive/sexual perversion sort of story. She definitely does not come across as sick. She, at times, was as deeply terrified or ashamed as any normal woman would be in the circumstances and yet continued freely to accept the demands of obedience to those who loved her and those who didn't. I was puzzled at how easily she accepted that Rene was no longer her lover, and continued to do exactly the same thing with Sir Stefan. All of this indicated that something much deeper than anything relatively superficial about perversion, infatuation, and so-on was going on. It made far too deep an impression the first time I saw the movie, even without understanding it. It made me think that it was, as another reviewer mentioned, hitting some archetypes, and something deep in the human spirit.
I began to think of the whole story as an extended metaphor about the demands and rewards of love. When we love, we willingly go through hell for the sake of love -- not just for the sake of the lover. The love relationship places heavy demands of obedience on us. It whips us and debases us -- love and its intimacy always find our weaknesses, and their exposure makes us feel naked, beaten and debased. But love always allows us the freedom to opt out, as did O's lovers and masters. And something deep within us always knows that, if we succumb to the abasement we may feel, and accept the beating our feelings take, that love, real human love, marks us forever as O was marked, and enbles us to love and be loved fully and deeply, and gives us peace -- indeed, it grants us everything. O shows us how wonderful it can become if we are not overly defensive about our selves in the service of love.
The movie itself does not look as dated as you would think for a 1974 movie -- actually, not at all. The color is a little unsaturated compared to the kind of color we have today, and this contributes to the fantasy that is clearly being spun. I happen to enjoy naked women a lot, and there are a lot of them in this movie, fully frontal, more than a glimpse, naked and unashamed. There are few scenes that are fully clothed for very long. I thought all were beautiful women, self-possessed, graceful, fully feminine and sensual without being affected.
The two brief closeup shots of "female genitalia", as one reviewer put it, (although he apparently didn't even notice them), are exquisitely done - just close enough, just long enough, just modest enough, just open enough.
There is a visual potpourri of modern day (for 1974), turn-of-the-century wealth and romanticism, and even some medieval castles and costumes. The only thing that bothered me even temporarily was Sir Stefan's overly-coiffed hairdo, but it didn't take long to get past it. It's a legitimate part of his character.
And the best comment of all came from my wife when the movie was over. And I hasten to add that there are absolutely no submissive or dominative tendencies in her at all. She said, "Wierd. Wow. That's one very sexy movie".

Have you ever bought a DVD that delivered EXACTLY what you were expecting? It's a good feeling, huh? Well, that's what CHEEKY did for me. I bought it for a surplus of nudity, and that's what I got! In addition, the movie is also a lot of fun and has some comical scenes in it.
Yuliya Mayarchuk is absolutely stunning as the main character (Carla). She travels from Italy to London where she plans to wait for her boyfriend to arrive. Along the way, some mis-understandings lead to a thrill ride of sexual mis-adventures. Mayarchuk is nude thru most of the movie, which is just fine w/me. Sometimes there's no particular reason for her to be naked, but she is anyway. That's just fine w/me too! She is absolutely adorable.
In this day & age when it seems like the whole world is falling apart, DVDs like CHEEKY are extra-important as they form an avenue of escapism. If you want a movie that is full of mindless fun and lots of gorgeous naked women, then this one should be at the top of your wishlist!

There is a lot to this movie to enjoy. The women are lovely, the scenes are well done, and it is a very enjoyable movie to watch with your partner. We watched it through twice in the first week, and we really had fun with it each time. The women are lovely, and the scenes are great. Enjoy!

The title was very appropriate. They took clips from other Girls Gone Wild dvds, but the clips they took were clips of the some of the best breasts caught on GGW cameras. Because of that, this is one of the best GGW dvds you could buy (if you like breasts). Sure, it's girls flashing the camera and other girls coming into the GGW trailer to go a little further than a quick flash, but unlike other GGW dvds, ALL of the breasts you'll see in this one are FULL and BEAUTIFUL.

You know the script...they find great looking girls, and they talk them into getting naked in front of their camera...so they can film them....topless...some of them bottomless...or fully naked. The girls pose naked just to get a free Girls Gone Wild t-shirt (and their 30 seconds of "fame" on dvd)...real amateur girls...naked.

Beautiful and believable.......2007-06-17
This is the first of the Comstock movies I've seen, but it absolutely won't be the last. This really is something different - "documentary" erotica, about a real couple not so different from anyone else.
The first half of the movie features the two talking to a silent, unseen interviewer. They describe their relationship, from the time they met, to their wedding (surprisingly like my own), through years of a complex and full home life. Throughout, they describe the career of their physical relationship at each period. It comes across as happy and a bit ordinary - I like that, it creates a kind of comfort with the couple that I don't have good words for, and teases me into caring about them.
The interview is broken into segments of a few minutes each, interleaved with moments from their bedroom love-making. That seems natural, too, the kinds of activities and positions I've enjoyed rather than bizarre contortions to create some camera angle. The interview ends about halfway through the movie. At that point, the bedroom scene restarts, then plays beyond what we saw in the first half. Because the interview made the two seem more real, my own arousal comes from theirs as if they're sharing it with me - not vicarious or voyeuristic, but friendly.
If you've been put off by adult films in the past, you probably had good reason: negative tone, forced activities and pacing, and people that look like plastic and sound worse. There's none of that here. It's warm, private, and above all happy - and isn't that what a love life should be?

Matt and Khym are a beautifully sexy, real life couple and I was completely charmed as I listened to them tell their story in the documentary style interview that opens this wonderful film and totally captivated to witness their lovemaking in the erotic scene that followed.
They seem to enjoy themselves in front of the camera in a way that welcomes us as viewers into their intimate life and into their bedroom with a disarming frankness that's become a trademark of Tony Comstock's films. As a result, this lovely film has been welcomed into my own bedroom on a number of occasions!
Not only do Matt and Khym shine and bubble over with a tender enthusiam for each other that seems to make them literally sparkle, but the film itself has the most beautiful lustre. It has a look that lends weight to the idea that love, sex, pleasure and intimacy are indeed important and special and wonderful. With his distinctive style, Tony Comstock has once again cleverly combined visual beauty, sexual heat, genuine chemistry, sympathetic characters and compelling real life stories into an erotic, well crafted film that I'm delighted to recommend.
Matt and Khym: Better Than Ever, just like all the other sexy Comstock Films I've enjoyed, was a real pleasure to watch alone and a great joy to share with a lover. It's sex filmed with grace, style and skill, with respect for the lovers and for the viewer.

I was so moved and delighted by this DVD that I emailed Tony Comstock to tell him that as soon as I got done watching it. For those who have misgivings about the content or quality of mainstream porn, this offering from Comstock may be just what you're looking for in that it is genuine, heartfelt, and sexy. For those like me who do delve a fair amount into mainstream porn, I recommend Matt and Khym as a magnificent and refreshing testament to how hot the depiction of genuine sex in the context of obvious true love can be. Very highly recommended.

Lame plot, but hot women and pretty good softcore sex........2006-03-14
April Hannah is a frustrated housewife with a secret desire. And since this is a softcore video, you just know what that secret is, right? Of course, it's to go rock climbing with her husband. No, I'm not joking. But hey, I've seen much weaker storylines used to tie together a bunch of sex scenes.
There are five sex scenes. A boy/girl scene with April, two boy/girl scenes with Akira Lane, a girl/girl scene with April and Brittney Skye, and a boy/girl with Brittney Skye. Like all Torchlight releases, the sex scenes are long. The girl/girl scene clocks in at twelve minutes. All the women are attractive and smoking hot. Most of the sex scenes are good and decently explicit. The exception was the final boy/girl scene with Brittney Skye, which suffered badly from some very unimaginative and tedious photography. Fortunately, Brittney is less smoking hot that April or Akira, so it wasn't a huge waste.
It's one of Torchlight's better releases, and if you like their stuff, I'd recommend it.

I really have no idea what the plot of this movie is - and I didnt care! I watched it for the sex scenes only! There are, I believe 5 sex scenes in all. Not enough for my taste, but each scene is about 10 minutes long. The girls are naked often and we even see some pink from a couple of them, but you have to watch for it, not every actress here shows it.
I'm not very familiar with the actresses except for Akira Lane, who is the really hot asain girl in the movie. She has two very good scenes. There is also a girl/girl scene which is fairly hot, though unfortunatly for me, Akira was not in it.
This movie has a hardcore porn feel to it. I'm actually wondering if one or two of the scenes werent faked! Little things also add to the porn feel, like - the way this whole movie is filmed; it's almost as if they just used an average everyday video camera to shoot it, although the video quality is very good. And also, we hear the slapping of skin against skin in this movie - just like we hear in all hardcore porn, which is something I dont think I've seen in any other "softcore" movie.
I thought it was pretty good - and I know my softcore porn!

So bad it's good, the notorious Gwendoline is one of those outrageously entertaining camp classics that will be enjoyed long after thousands of "better" movies have faded into obscurity. Loosely adapted from John Willie's pioneering 1940s comic strip "The Adventures of Sweet Gwendoline," and directed with good-natured humor by French softcore specialist Just Jaekin (Emmanuelle, The Story of O), this delirious dose of mainstream erotica plays like a sexy parody of Raiders of the Lost Ark and Romancing the Stone. In his own audacious fashion, Jaekin was attempting an ambitious, good-looking adventure with above-average production values, but Gwendoline owes its "bad movie" cult status to its cheesy combination of globe-hopping scenery, tacky sets, hopelessly wretched dialogue, laughably awful acting, and a constant parade of beautiful women, either half-naked or scantily clad in outrageous S&M costumes. The film is also notorious for being the screen debut of Tawny Kitaen (shortly before she appeared with Tom Hanks Bachelor Party), who brings a breathtaking lack of talent (and a very hot body) to her title role as Gwendoline, a scrappy stowaway who arrives in China on a quest to find her missing father, who'd ventured into remote jungles in search of a rare and beautiful butterfly.
Joined by hunky mercenary Willard (Brent Huff) and her loopy friend Beth (played by French model/actress Zabou), Gwendoline survives a variety of absurdly amusing obstacles (including one very phony-looking alligator) until they eventually reach the land of the Yik Yak, an Amazonian slave-culture consisting entirely of slim, sexy women! Through it all, Jaekin's image of women is a source of constant fascination: When they're not kicking ass or running around topless, Kitaen and Zabou act like helpless, virginal airheads who need a man to survive, and Gwendoline plays out like an adolescent wet dream. With a climactic chariot chase that must be seen to be believed, it's all so ridiculous that you can't help but be entertained, and Jaekin's 106-minute, French-language director's cut contains several action scenes that were cut for the film's English-dubbed 88-minute American version, released (and available separately) as The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik Yak. --Jeff Shannon

Jaekin's original cut has been spectacularly restored for this Severin Films DVD release, with both French and English audio tracks and a delightful commentary by Jaekin with journalist/author Tony Crawley and Frederick Levier, former contributor to Starfix, a French magazine devoted to fantastic films; their unabashed enthusiasm for the film makes this commentary an unexpected treat. Also included: a 24-minute video interview with Jaekin, in which he discusses the production history of Gwendoline; a 10-photo gallery of Tawny Kitaen from the French softcore magazine Lui; and a fascinating vintage audio interview with Sweet Gwendoline creator John Willie, from the archives of sex-research pioneer Dr. Alfred Kinsey. Kudos to Severin Films for including these high-quality bonus features with a film that many consider one of the "worst" of the 1980s! Gosh, this is -without any trace of a doubt - THE silliest and stupidest movie I have even seen.
In the Soviet Russia in the 80s, when I was in the university, the only source of information about Western (made in West, not just the cowboy stuff) movies - besides the officially approved and thus empty editions - was a couple of obscure and very cheezy Polish magazines, printed on bad paper with smudged photos and unreadable texts. "Gwendoline" was a sensation with them and they dedicated article after article to the movie (they did the same with Emmanuelle and other softcore masterpieces).
So I finally decided to find out what was all the frenzy about.
Well , the 70s and 80s are over (thanks for small mercies) and the movie proved to be so bad, that it is not even good. You know, how we often say - oh, it is so bad it is delicious. This is not the case. This one clearly transcends the stage "so bad, it is actully good" and goes into "oh boy, bad is not the word".
Even softcore adventures should have at least one good idea, one good laugh and one good line per movie. This one does not. Girls look good (nobody argues) , the boy looks great (very neat six-pack) , costumes (if you can call them that) are rather abbreviated.
Usually when I do not like a movie and do not intend to keep it, I give it away. In this case I dropped it into trash as I would have been too ashamed to give it to anybody - not because of the naked bodies, but due to sheer stupidy of the film.
A Faulty Memory.......2007-06-12
I remembered this movie from high school as a mildly amusing adventure story with some pretty girls showing some of their charms. I had a faulty memory.
The pretty girls are there. Tawny Kitaen and Zabou and definitely easy on the eyes and they show themselves off quite a bit. So do a lot of other girls but those are nothing to stick in the memory. The problem though is with the story.
It is a silly adventure story but it is much worse than I remembered. A girl devotes herself to finding the butterfly her scientist father died trying to find. She is aided by her girl sidekick and by a mercenary guide. They find the butterfly and a lost civilization of Amazons with nefarious plans. Silly but the background is worse.
What I did not remember or realize from all those years ago is that this is some sort of fetish film intended to excite those who like seeing women wear leather and be led around on leashes. Blah!
It was watchable but not very good.
Funny, sexy, but weird.......2007-05-30
This movie is a typical sexy B-movie, but it has enough scenery to keep your attention while trying to find the plot. We watched this twice through, and each time was about the same. Funny, sexy, but kinda cheap and amateurish, like most B-movies can tend to be. Knowing that you are not getting this movie for the plot or action scenes, but for the scenery and Tawny, you can settle in and enjoy this movie. There are a couple of scenes that are a bit gross, but overall it isn't as bad of a movie as I had expected. And yes, Tawny does look good in it. :)

Action anti-hero Jason Statham is competing with himself to make the most relentless, non-stop action flick imaginable. In Crank, Statham stars as a hit man named Chev Chelios who's been poisoned by some Chinese toxin; the only way to stave it off is to keep his adrenalin flowing, which requires him to drive at top speeds through crowded traffic, start fights in bars, and run pell-mell down hospital corridors while wearing one of those humiliating smocks that tie in the back. In other words, Crank is high-end pop-trash, filled with many preposterous/ingenious stunts and over-the-top performances (Dwight Yoakam, Sling Blade, is downright droll as a doctor offering Chev assistance), marred by an unpleasant attitude towards women (Amy Smart, Outside Providence, will not look back on this as one of her signature roles). This is a movie for the audience who enjoyed Transporter and Transporter 2 but wanted Statham's perpetual scowl to become a kind of theatrical mask, a perpetual signifier of intensity that begs--nay, demands--that everything around it rise to a mutual level of absurdity. This movie was what id expect- a nonstop action movie with little value. Jason Statham is a great action star in my eyes. He was great in The Transporter and is a highly enjoyable movie series. Id recommend this movie to people who like action movies, but dont look for a meanings. Also check out the Transporter series.
Crank.......2007-05-22
When I first saw this movie Crank, I though it was kind of stupid and wasn't worth it, that's because I only saw half of the movie. Then the second time when I watched from the beginning to the end I thought it was ok I'll give the movie about 3 1/2 stars. The scenes I enjoyed watching was when Chev was in the cab and the radio was playing "Achky breaky heart". I didn't like the Chinatown scene, they could have did away with that scene, I think the directors went a little to far with that.

This movie is not a serious action flick. It's a silly comedy/action that uses low budget special effects which reminds you not to take the film seriously. You don't have to pay attention to the plot; you can drink beers and talk to your buddies throughout the whole thing and not get lost. If you like to laugh at action, drugs, sex, and violence, this is a good film for you.

When I came across this movie two key words caught my attention...1 - vagina... 2 - director's cut...I love Gabriella Hall but this movie is kak...it is a nice idea but again not cleverly executed... lots of nudity but not that erotic...it looked too 'cut' for a directors cut... I did not enjoy the movie...the key words did not do the trick...

I spent most of the time in fast forward, and don't think that I missed any of the plot. I gave it a 2 because it was not so bad that I turned it off. A good movie to put on in the backround, if you are not going to pay it much attention.

not a great acting movie but of course you don't see these kind of movies for the acting but it is very comedic. the scenes are really good and all of the women are hot there isn't one woman who is unattractive in this film. its as good as softcore can get if this was hardcore it probably would have been even a better title but still a good buy if you like this style. but this movie is an excellent choice and funny if your looking for comedy and a little bit of action.

The best release of it's kind.......2007-04-24
I recently bought this DVD along with CandyGirl Video: Sweet Satisfaction Kobe Lee and CandyGirl Video: Micah Ashley's Personal Panties (w/Mini Micah Ashley Pin-Up) because I wanted to see red-hot amateur models bare all. The CandyGirl Video titles exceeded my expectations and I'll review those soon, but I wanted to comment on this DVD since it's such a departure from Playboy's boring video formula they've been sticking with since the 80s.
This is a collection of true amateur videos shot by boyfriends, husbands, girlfriends and photographers and sent into playboy by women hoping to land a job with playboy. First, you would think the quality would be terrible, that is NOT the case. All of the videos look to be shot on hi-quality digital video. All of the girls are very attractive and each scene is unique in it's own way. For example, one woman shot here video outdoors, in public, at what looked to be a construction site. When was the last time you saw a playboy video were the models were in danger of getting busted while on a shoot? Other locations include backyard pools, backyards, living rooms and bedrooms. The photography was a mixed bag, meaning this is still playboy, so pink shots are not allowed and close-ups below the belt are frowned down upon (see CandyGirl Video's DVDs for that). With that said, this title does offer more revealing shots than you'll see on the average playboy DVD. The most shocking footage on this DVD was of the exotic and jaw-dropping Ashley Puida, who actually does a spread-shot in her scene!!!
Unfortunately, the camera stayed wide the whole time, but this may actually be the first shot of it's kind to appear in ANY playboy video.
Bottom line, is this worth your hard-earned $14? Absolutely! I can't imagine any softcore or playboy fan being disappointed with the content on this disc. For the most part, I'm always disappointed with playboy DVDs. They never deliver the goods and when they do, it's only for a brief moment, but since this release was shot by amateurs and NOT the playboy film crew, you get a fresh perspective on how you can present nude glamour models. The artistic filler of most playboy DVDs is gone and in it's place is true, raw sexuality of beautiful amateur models. My only complaint, which kept me from giving it 5 stars, is that this DVD is only an hour. Come on playboy, the CandyGirl Video DVDs were close to 3 hours each! I wish a multi-million dollar company like playboy would fill their DVDs to it's 3 hour capacity, but this is a small complaint. No doubt, this is the best DVD release from Playboy ever and they should seriously consider making this a yearly release.
Nice and Naughty.......2005-05-17
Playboy shows a different slant in this program, and it's for the better. Instead of their showcasing the magazine's centerfold, the content is home videos that women send to them for inclusion on the network's "Sexy Girl Next Door." The subjects are recorded, offering opinions on men and lovemaking while undressing for the camera. They seem less inhibited and some even offer some "southern exposure", which is a real treat. They're the kind of women you pass on the street and oftentimes, fantasize about. All in all, a good show!
