The success of Under Siege made a sequel mandatory according to Hollywood's rules of maximum revenue, and as sequels go, this one's not half bad. Steven Seagal returns as former Navy SEAL and skilled chef Casey Ryback, who's trying to spend quality time with his niece on a cross-country train trip. But as luck and action-movie formulas would have it, the train has been hijacked by a demented genius (Eric Bogosian) who is using the train as a moving platform to seize computerized control of a top-secret U.S. satellite that is capable of causing earthquakes from space. Seagal has to stop the train or the villain (whichever comes first), and the action is fast and furious on its way to a high-speed climax. He's not as wacky as Tommy Lee Jones in the first Under Siege, but Bogosian has got a delirious quality that serves the comic-book plot, and action fans get more than their fill of dazzling stunts and special effects. --Jeff Shannon

Customer Reviews:
Best Seagal's movie.......2007-01-28
Steven Seagal plays Casey Ryback in the sequel to film of 1992. The simple yet slightly unbelievable plot is that some terrorists have hijacked a luxurious train and our using it as a base for their ugly plan.
They have stolen the control codes to a lethal laser weapon satellite system in space that has the capability to wipe out a destination anywhere in the world. If the Americans do not pay up, then the passengers on the train will die and the US Eastern Seaboard will go up in smoke. Little do they know that a certain ex-Navy SEAL is on the train on vacation with his niece and is prepared to fight!
The action scenes are brilliant, right from the beginning. The fight on the side of the cliff, the cocktail bomb scene, and the finale on the helicopter are all brilliant and exciting. There is nothing to the acting, Seagal portays Ryback's tough character as the knowing hero excellently.
R rating is not strong enough.......2007-01-28
I truly enjoyed watching the movie on TV and in the theater, but on the DVD... that's a whole different story. Almost every other word that comes out of "bad guys" mouth is an f... word. Was this really necessary for the plot of the movie? Good thing that I bought this movie used, because after one time watching it, it's going straight in the trash. It's a great action movie with very distasteful dialogs. I wish I knew where I could get PG version of it.
'Nobody beats me in the kitchen!".......2007-01-16
Steven Seagal reprises his role as a one time SEAL team captain, a counter-terrorist expert who had to rely only on his personal skills in order to survive, and protect the hostages... He happens to be on the Grand Continental passenger train traveling from Denver to L.A... Seagal joins the only family he has, a 'cute kid' named Sarah (Katherine Heigl) after her parents died in a plane crash...
Seagal has an electrifying screen presence... Seeing him in action is similar to appreciating modern art...
The train is hijacked by a team of 'ugly men' with guns... Their chief, Travis Dane (Eric Bogosian), is a high-tech mastermind, who fakes his own death in order to gain control of a top-secret nuclear satellite... For this crazy technical genius, technology can be used for beauty or debasement, and 'until you plug it in, you just can't tell.'
Dane's henchman Penn (Everett McGill) is a soldier of fortune freak, whose relationship with his boss resurfaced during Desert Storm...
Morris Chestnut's focus is on humor and breath-taking sequences...
Geoff Murphy's film is incredibly entertaining, combining action, martial arts, and dark sense of humor...
