    Book Description

Police Lieutenant Phoebe MacNamara found her calling at an early age when an unstable man broke into her family's home, trapping and terrorizing them for hours. Now she's Savannah's top hostage negotiator, defusing powderkeg situations with a talent for knowing when to give in-and when to jump in and take action. It's satisfying work-and sometimes those skills come in handy at home dealing with her agoraphobic mother, still traumatized by the break-in after all these years, and her precocious seven-year-old, Carly.

It's exactly that heady combination of steely courage and sensitivity that first attracts Duncan Swift to Phoebe. After observing her coax one of his employees down from a roof ledge, he is committed to keeping this intriguing, take-charge woman in his life. She's used to working solo, but Phoebe's discovering that no amount of negotiation can keep Duncan at arm's length.

And when she's grabbed by a man who throws a hood over her head and brutally assaults her-in her own precinct house-Phoebe can't help but be deeply shaken. Then threatening messages show up on her doorstep, and she's not just alarmed but frustrated. How do you go face-to-face with an opponent who refuses to look you in the eye?

Now, with Duncan backing her up every step of the way, she must establish contact with the faceless tormentor who is determined to make her a hostage to fear . . . before she becomes the final showdown.

    Book Description

Three women learn that the heart of their historic home holds a mystery of years gone by, as number-one bestselling author Nora Roberts brings her In the Garden trilogy to a captivating conclusion, following Blue Dahlia and Black Rose.

A Harper has always lived at Harper House, the centuries-old mansion just outside of Memphis. And for as long as anyone alive remembers, the ghostly Harper Bride has walked the halls, singing lullabies at night...

Hayley Phillips came to Memphis hoping for a new start, for herself and her unborn child. She wasn't looking for a handout from her distant cousin Roz, just a job at her thriving In the Garden nursery. What she found was a home surrounded by beauty and the best friends she's ever had-including Roz's son Harper. To Hayley's delight, her new daughter Lily has really taken to him. To Hayley's chagrin, she has begun to dream about Harper-as much more than a friend...

If Hayley gives in to her desire, she's afraid the foundation she's built with Harper will come tumbling down. Especially since she's begun to suspect that her feelings are no longer completely her own. Flashes of the past and erratic behavior make Hayley believe that the Harper Bride has found a way inside of her mind and body. It's time to put the Bride to rest once and for all, so Hayley can know her own heart again-and whether she's willing to risk it...

5 out of 5 stars A Perfect Ending to the Trilogy - But I Still Want More!.......2007-05-14

I always hate when trilogies end, and the "In the Garden" trilogy (Blue Dahlia (In the Garden, Book 1), Black Rose: In the Garden Trilogy (In the Garden), and now RED LILY) is no exception. You get to know the characters so completely, and feel such a connection with them, that they become almost real--and you just want to keep on reading about their lives!

RED LILY is the story of Harper Ashby, oldest son of Rosalind (BLACK ROSE), and Hayley Phillips. Hayley had come to Harper House the previous year, pregnant and alone, to beseech Roz, a distant cousin through marriage, for a job. Unwed, with her baby's father out of the picture, Hayley wasn't looking for a handout, but for a chance to start over. What Roz offered her was so much more--a job, a place to stay at the renowned Harper House, and a family.

Now she has her daughter Lily, a great job, and a roof over her head, but lately she's been thinking of Harper, the man whose been her friend through it all, in a brand-new light--that of a love interest. Afraid to ruin their friendship by telling him how she feels, she keeps quiet. Harper, on the other hand, has wanted Hayley in a more than friendly fashion ever since he laid eyes upon her--pregnant and all--more than a year ago. But he's sure that she doesn't think of him in the same way, and he's leary of messing up the friendship that means to much to him.

As these two friends--both wanting to be so much more--fight their attraction to each other, the resident ghost of the house, the Harper Bride, kicks into high gear. She's always been loving and kind to the children in the house, singing them lullabies in the night, but she seems to hate men, and she's become especially violent now that Hayley is entertaining thoughts of romance.

As the whole crew--Roz and her new husband Mitch, a geneologist trying his hardest to discover who the Harper Bride really is; Stella and Logan, both employees of Roz's In the Garden shop; and Hayley and Harper, who live on Harper/Ashby land--try to figure out the Bride's agenda, their lives are in danger, and their hearts and passions intertwine with that of the ghost's.

I loved this entire trilogy, and read RED LILY in one day. It was a perfect conclusion to this powerful family saga, and I was especially happy to finally learn the answers to who the Harper Bride was, and what happened to her.

I will admit that there was one surprise twist to the storyline that I didn't see coming, and wasn't really thrilled with, but since Ms. Roberts wrote it and I didn't, I can't complain! Overall, the story was still great, and in time I learned to live with what I thought was an unnecessary plot device.

Pick up this trilogy today--you won't be disappointed!

You can never go wrong with a Nora Roberts romance novel and this is just one more great one in the list.

    1 out of 5 stars Terrible.......2007-02-03

This was the first Nora Roberts book I've read (listened to) and it will be the last. The story was boring and ridiculous. If you're looking for mindless drivel, this is the book for you.
The reader was also terrible. Her presentation had Haley whining constantly while everyone else (in indistinguishable voices) talked in an admonishing tone.

5 out of 5 stars The wonderful conclusion to the In the Garden trilogy.......2007-01-23

When Hayley Phillips showed up on Roz Harper's doorstep, she was pregnant and desperate for a home and a job. Months have passed on now Hayley has a beautiful baby girl, Lily and a new happy life with Roz and company at In the Garden. Life couldn't get any better. Well maybe in one way it could...

Roz's son Harper loves his job at the nursery developing new strains of flowers and greenery. He also has the love of his family and friends, and Hayley's baby girl. After much resistance from both parties, Harper and Hayley find themselves growing ever closer and wanting to explore the tender emotions between them. Unfortunately, The Harper Bride, ghost of the manor, is not willing to let that happen. Her efforts to destroy their happiness grow strong enough to threaten their lives. Now Harper and Hayley, and all the other members of the In the Garden family must get to the bottom of the mystery of the ghost before it's too late.

After Hayley and Harper have danced around each other's affections in the preceding two books, they finally get their in Red Lily. The romance is deeper and stronger due to the length of time it took for them to find love together. Of course, no one can resist the adorable Lily and these three bond beautifully to form a new family. Their story is probably my favorite of the three found in the In the Garden trilogy.

I've read each of Nora Roberts' paranormal trilogies to date and this one ranks high on my personal favorites list. She goes into great depth about the mystery of The Harper Bride and how it affects all the players. I love that almost as much time in Red Lily is dedicated to her story as it is to Hayley and Harper. We finally understand who she is and why she has haunted Harper House for so long. Readers will be happy with the resolution of her story.

Once again Susie Breck does a masterful performance. She can reach the hearts of the readers, or better said listeners, than many narrators out there. She is a strong talent and has easily become one of my preferred performers of audio books. You can't go wrong with an audio book she makes.

This book was an amazing finish on a great series. I loved the first two books, but I am so glad the best book came last.. What an ending, just thinking about it I get goosebumps. This book is worth reading the whole series for.

    5 out of 5 stars Circle Trilogy.......2007-05-26

I loved every book in this series, and if I still had them I'd read them again.

    5 out of 5 stars Terrific!.......2007-05-20

The final battle to seal whether humanity will live in the light or cower in darkness as prey for Lilith's vampires is fast approaching, and the six warriors of the Circle fill their days preparing themselves for it in Gaell. In the past two books, Glenna and Hoyt and Larkin and Blair have discovered true love, so it is no surprise that the little queen, Moira, and the vampire, Cian, wake to the love they have for each other in this one. However, the obstacles between them are greater than those facing the other two couples. She is a Queen, bound to her world, and he is a vampire from this one. Moreover, Lilith does not intend to let any of them live beyond Samhain. Not all the battles they face are on the fields of blood, there are conflicts that must be settled in the heart as well.

***** The only thing I hate about this book is that it is the end of the series! Cian is one of the most complex, multi-facted characters I've come across in a long time. His sarcastic wit made me laugh often, yet he also evoked tears in my soul. Moira makes a speech that will bring to mind thoughts of Aragorn and Lord of the Rings, making you want to cheer. Normally, I do not like epic battle scenes at all, but the ones depicted herein were so deftly handled that I could follow the action without being bogged down. Though the Eve Dallas series is my first love among Nora Roberts' books; under her own name, the Circle series, particularly this final volume, is her finest writing to date. *****

    Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars An exciting first novel in an imaginative series.......2007-06-24

Damn! I wish I hadn't done that! "Naked in Death" is the first in JD Robb's popular Death series which is now almost two dozen novels strong ... and I loved it! My pocketbook will protest and my bookshelves will be groaning under the ever increasing load as I begin the quest to accumulate the rest of the series.

Eve Dallas is a lieutenant in the New York City Police Department. The story is set in 2058 - a future near enough to be entirely recognizable but far enough away that Robb can postulate some very interesting technological and cultural developments - guns have been banned; prostitution is legal and completely regulated; cars have an auto-pilot setting; VR simulations have advanced to a heart-stopping, palm-sweating, gut-wrenching reality that is light years beyond the technology we know of today; smoking is almost a thing of the past; police weaponry consists only of lasers and high powered stun guns with handguns firing real bullets available only in museums and private collections; and, would you believe it, recreational "hotels" for the über-wealthy are actually in continuous orbit above the earth!

The murder, on the other hand, is one we are, sadly, all too familiar with - the violent, gruesome, almost ritualistic slaying of a sex trade worker, now known by the euphemism "licenced companion", which is only the first of an intended series by a serial killer. He left behind a note ... "ONE OF SIX"! This particular licenced companion, Sharon DeBlass, just happened to be the grand-daughter of a US Senator and you might well imagine the political pressure that is being brought to bear on Dallas and NYPD to solve the case. When the investigation points in the direction of Roarke, a self-made reclusive billionaire, the heat and passion in the novel is turned up a notch as Dallas finds herself in the unenviable position of falling for a man who just might be the killer she's looking for!

I don't think I can give Robb top marks for the plot - the solution is just a little too predictable and can be seen a fair distance from the end of the novel. But "Naked in Death" certainly earns both thumbs well turned up in every other way - dialogue, characterization, setting, humour (the side plot about the husband's murder by Hetta Finestein, a lovable little gray haired old lady, is a positive hoot), imagination, novelty, creativity and more. And I have to hand it to Robb ... she writes a mean sex scene. Whew! They're footloose, they're well-timed, they're playful and they're enough to bring a little sheen of sweat up on your brow!

Highly recommended! Romance, police procedural, mystery, science fiction ... you name it, they all fit. If you like a lightweight, easy-going enjoyable read in any of those genres, you'll enjoy "Naked in Death".

5 out of 5 stars The Best Romantic Suspense Series EVER.......2007-05-26

After 20+ books over 10+ years, I decided it was high time to go back to where it all began -- NAKED IN DEATH.

Here, author J.D. Robb (aka best-selling author Nora Roberts) introduces us to NYPSD Lieutenant Eve Dallas, a force in her own right, and one of the trickiest cases yet. The granddaughter of a Senator has been brutally murdered, and the perpetrator promises that five more bodies are to follow. As Eve races against the clock to save more women from dying, she also must contend with her own feelings for Roarke, a self-made billionaire who early on is a suspect in the murders.

If you haven't read any of the "...IN DEATH" books, I highly recommend them to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense. The mystery and the romance are evenly balanced, Eve and Roarke are definitely intriguing characters, and the story just never gets old.

Going back to this first story in the series after having been a fan so long, I was grateful to be reminded of the meaning behind the gray button, how Galahad came into the picture, and how Somerset's attitude has been the same from the beginning.

NAKED IN DEATH is a winner, and you'll be happy to know that when you finish reading it, there are 24 more stories already published in the series. Happy Reading!!

2 out of 5 stars Good characters, not good writing.......2007-05-24

If you hate Conservatives and everything they stand for and want to read a book where the author shares the same opinions, (even though it is supposed to be a novel about a woman cop in the future) then this is the book for you! Robb's overzealous rip of all things conservative was so annoying that I painfully made it through this book and will never read another book of hers again. I ACTUALLY believe I would feel the same way if it were against Liberalism as well! I thought the character development was fantastic - but Robb's underlying feelings just never went away throughout the book. Also, her use of the F-word - although I don't mind sometimes, was a bit much. I can't believe that in the future when every other thing has been "fixed" in the mind of Robb - they haven't found other language to use...like "frak" (for the Battlestar Galactica fans). Ha! Enjoy it if you must - but beware of author's partial writing!

4 out of 5 stars Great start to what promises to be a very interesting series.......2007-05-12

Thanks to the posters on Amazon's Fantasy Forums, I got introduced to Eve Dallas. She was recommended by more than one poster as one of the best heroines in fantasy. Okay, technically Robb's novels are mysteries with a science fiction angle.

Eve Dallas is a cop in the near future. She's tough, but she's got a tender side that manifests in nightmares over a case gone bad. She thinks she's off the streets and headed to get a Psych referral when she gets a top security case. It seems, the daughter of a US Senator has been killed in a brutal and sexual manner. When she arrives on the scene, she realizes the victim is one in six.

"Naked" is a great start to the series. It's well-written. Robb really knows how to hook a reader. I like Eve Dallas and her world. I feel strong sympathy for the victims, particularly the second girl, Lola.

My reasons for not giving this book 5 stars is my objection to Dallas sleeping with a suspect during the course of the investigation and the fact that I figured out the murderer pretty quickly in the game. Knowing 'whodunit' didn't stop me from reading the rest to find out how he got caught. I spoke to a reader further down the series than I am and was told the mystery element improves as the stories go on. I'm looking forward to that!

4 out of 5 stars Good and Bad, but Well Written.......2007-05-08

I didn't think I'd like it, but it wasn't bad. A friend wanted me to give it a try, because the Eve Dallas books are her favorite series. Nora Roberts/JD Robb is a talented writer in that she develops likable characters, manages a dynamic plot, and paces it successfully enough to create a page-turner. She's a best-seller for those very reasons.

The things I didn't like about the book are as follows:
    - I'm very annoyed by shifting points of view. I want a consistent narrator within scenes, not what he feels, what she thinks, what he wants, what she wants, etc. Sometimes Roberts was switching between three characters in three paragraphs.
    - Despite the fact that this is a futuristic thriller, we only know that it's futuristic because she tells us. There is no futuristic ambiance, there is no proposal for challenging inventions or lifestyle changes other than standard near-future sci-fi tropes. It seems that the risks of futuristic forecasting were too challenging, so her murder used the motives of present-day killers - the familiar which took the potency away from the futuristic setting.

When I need a quick read for entertainment only, I'd consider reading another. I hope in subsequent books, Roberts and Eve Dallas don't fear the future, but embrace it.

4 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable, even if it's a little too much like Buffy!.......2007-06-08

It took me a long time to get into the 1st book in this series, but after I did I couldn't put them down. I read all three back to back and really enjoyed them. I am a huge fan of Buffy and Angel, the shows, and found a lot of odd similarities between some of the characters from the TV shows and in the books, but oh well. All in all, enjoyable. If you're a Nora Roberts fan, give them a chance, I'm sure you will enjoy!

    1 out of 5 stars Such a letdown!.......2007-05-26

    Hello,
Im bucking the trend here...but I hated this book! Don't get me wrong NR is an excelent wordsmith, however Blair and Larkin's story was so...BLAH!
I can't think of anything good to write- oh yes it made me anticipate Moira and Cian's story all the more

    5 out of 5 stars Dangerous Passion.......2007-05-26

I read about half of Morrigan's cross (1st Trilogy book) and immediately ordered bo0k 2 and 3. The circle of 6 are representative of all men and women through the ages. The passion for what they believe and how they feel is intoxicating. If you believe that power and strength comes from the love we feel then this story is for you. Start with the 1st book.

    3 out of 5 stars Vampire Fantasy.......2007-05-23

Having been a Nora Roberts fan for awhile and love to read anything "Irish", I'm reading my way thru this trilogy. Dance is okay but not as good as the first in the trilogy, Morrigan's Cross. Maybe because the first one had more character development, I enjoyed it more. It's a great story and an interesting read if you're into fantasy and vampires. The third in the series, Valley of Silence, is next on my reading list! Nora continues to write "can't put it down until I finish" books.

    4 out of 5 stars I love flying dragons!.......2007-04-30

This is the 2nd in the Circle Trilogy, after Morrigan's Cross. Can I tell you how much I love Larkin?!! Nora has created a daring, fanciful, and lovable character who falls head over heals for a Buffy type vampire slayer named Blair. There is a fair amount of tension and some very sweet romantic scenes in this book. I'm enjoying the continued character development of the six people in the circle and look forward to reading book #3, Valley of Silence.

In 21st-century New York City, tough-as-nails cop Eve Dallas can survive a bombing, seduce her husband, and outsmart a terrorist--all on four hours of sleep. In this latest installment of the In Death series, author J.D. Robb (a.k.a. Nora Roberts) casts our heroine against an enigmatic group of terrorists named Cassandra. With no clear motivation or demands, Cassandra feeds on the thrill of senseless killing and the calculated destruction of Eve's world.

Relying on her own brawn and brains, as well as that of her aid Peabody and her husband Roarke, Eve begins to unravel a mystery that began decades before. When the killer's threats land close to home, Eve knows she has no choice but to gamble her own life for the chance to save her city as well as her loved ones.

J.D. Robb's combinations of mystery, suspense, and romance keep the fans of this series clamoring for more, and Loyalty in Death has equal amounts of each. While the passion between Eve and Roarke is as good as ever, the introduction of a new romantic element certainly turns up the heat and is a welcome twist. Though the evil-terrorist-in-NYC theme has been done before (most recently in The Siege), these beloved characters put up a good fight, and keep us glued to the pages. --Nancy R.E. O'Brien

5 out of 5 stars The changing face of terror.......2007-04-11

Even the future can't change the evil of of a terrorist organization's heart. Means, motives and methods all adapt to meet the changing techologies, but the one constant is the madness moving the characters involved.

Now, 50 years in the future, it falls on the shoulders of Eve Dallas to defeat terror's latest birth child....

A great story. I loved it more than most of the early Eve Dallas books. The characters become more lifelike with each story told and this one brings them out of the realm of fantasy, into a reality that is all their own....

    A very exciting read!

    5 out of 5 stars Always a hit!.......2006-08-26

Just when you think you know all the turns JD Robb can take you, she still takes you to the edge with these main characters, Eve & Roarke! She is lively, edgy, and never disappoints! Roarke adds just the edge she needs! It will make you laugh, pause & sigh, and keep turning the pages until you finish. Never gets old, as the character are always entertaining! Fast read.

5 out of 5 stars Larger than life.......2006-08-24

The 10th story (9 novels, 1 novella) in the In Death series gives readers a break after the emotional intensity of the preceding book, Conspiracy in Death.

Instead of a murderer or a serial killer, this time NYPSD homicide lieutenant Eve Dallas is up against terrorists who are bent on blowing up NYC landmarks.

    The Good:
The characterization. As always, that's J.D. Robb's (Nora's) genius. Whatever the plot, she nails the characters.
The balance between seriousness and exaggeration. In this book, much is larger than life, but it's balanced with some serious and emotional scenes.
The continuing story. We get developments in Eve's past and in Peabody's life, and my personal favorite: Eve and Roarke's relationship continues to develop at a realistic pace.

    The Bad:
I had a problem with the explanation for the first murder.
The motivation for the terrorist group was unclear.
The subject matter might hit a little too close to reality for some readers.

    The Unusual:
It's a departure for the series, and I found I enjoyed it more if I viewed it as such. It's a bit over the top, moreso than other books in the series, as is particularly evident in the opening and closing scenes.

    The Verdict:
It's an exciting, lively story, and the developments in the personal lives of several of the characters are well worth the read and a good addition to the series.

3 out of 5 stars Not tight enough.......2006-05-18

Not bad but just quite average. There should've been a bit more work done, more interviews, etc. Anyways, the theme of arrogancy has been used in many of her books and it's starting to get a little old.

I sure hope she's really improving and will stop using this theme all too often.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent Book-Carefull of the Terrorist Topic.......2006-05-02

This is an excellent series and one in which we get to learn more about Peabody and her family. I really enjoyed the book. But writing this review 4 1/2 years after September 11, 2001 I've got to say sometimes it was a tough read. The book was published in 1999 before the terror attacks and speaks of an attack on the Pentagon, that happened on Sept 25 in the fictional NY past (2520 I think) and in the book several New York landmarks are either targeted or actually attacked. Including the Twin Towers. Luckly the Towers weren't a main topic and were only briefly mentioned.
It is still an excellent read, I love the entire series, but a heads up on the content. Set in NY dealing with people who want to blow up NY landmarks.

    For Now, Forever

Anna—Daniel's wife of forty years—relives her remarkable courtship, when meddlesome matchmaking patriarch and self-made millionaire Daniel MacGregor faced his biggest challenge: to convince the love of his life to marry him! Here at last is the story of how Daniel wooed and won the fiercely independent Anna Whitfield and launched his formidable dynasty.

    In From the Cold

In this story about an eighteenth-century MacGregor, we learn that battling the British couldn't prepare Minuteman Ian MacGregor for the fight he's got on his hands to win the heart of Irish spitfire Allanna Flynn.

3 out of 5 stars Early roots of the MacGregor Series.......2002-10-31

This book relates the story of Daniel and Anna and shows how they met and formed an immediate love/hate connection. Both fiercely independent, they each wanted their own way in life more than they wanted each other. Anna was a woman ahead of her time, studying to be a doctor against the wishes of her parents and the norms of society. Daniel was a consummate businessman, who had begun to build a business empire which would only grow in the future. Anna wanted a career and Daniel wanted her to be his non-working wife. How they worked out their differences is the crux of this first story. The second story tells of Daniel's ancestor, Ian, who had a history as a rebel in his native Scotland and who brought that rebellious spirit to America where he continued to fight the British. The first story is longer and does a better job of developing the characters, while the second one is almost too short to tell the story properly. For The MacGregor Family fans, however, this book fills in some information about the history of the family.

3 out of 5 stars Lots of MacGregor Lore.......2002-10-23

While not as captivating as some of the other books in Nora Roberts' fabulous MacGregor series, this book is important because it provides some history into the MacGregor clan, and lets us see the irrascible patriarch Daniel MacGregor as a young man courting "his Anna."

Tall and imposing with a bright red beard, young Daniel MacGregor is already a prominent businessman-about-town when he meets Anna at a soiree. He takes one look at her, and in the way of many MacGregors to come, he knows she is the one for him. But Anna is no easy catch. At a time when women were expected to be quiet and acquiescent, Anna is attending medical school, one of the few of her gender to do so. And she had no time for the brash, very outspoken, often embarrassing Daniel MacGregor. Or so she thinks. Anna and Daniel's courtship changes them both. He learns to be more humble. She learns to be more giving. And so a great dynasty is born.

The second story harkens back to a stalwart and brave MacGregor ancestor, Ian, who is fighting for the survival of his beloved Scotland against England in the bloody Culloden wars. This segment is written in the way of all good historical romances, with plenty of adventure thrown in. The battle scenes are particularly good, and we learn just what drove Ian and his beloved bride Serena to America, where the MacGregor clan took permanent root. Along the way, there is plenty of danger for Ian, Serena, their newborn child, and all their family. A good, dashing romance.

I would characterize this story as the weakest in the MacGregor series, but very important to those afficionadoes, like me, who want every single tidbit of information about the clan that Roberts is willing to provide.

4 out of 5 stars The first story was good, the second wasn't.......2002-03-25

I thought that Daniel and Anna's story was great. I really enjoyed going back to when women weren't allowed to do anything and how Anna showed them wrong. I was a bit confused on the second story because I thought that Daniel was a full-blooded Scot. Did his ancestors move back to Ireland? Confusing and a little too short to bring out the characters. The Alan and Serena stories were my favorite and I enjoyed hearing about Daniel's grandchildren.

4 out of 5 stars Great to learn about the MacGregor roots.......2001-10-30

I truly enjoyed both the stories in this book. I have noticed a lot of criticism regarding Daniel's chauvanistic ways, but I thought it was an important part of the story to show that Daniel had to change his views and grow as a person in order to find happiness with the feisty Anna Whitfield. "For Now, Forever" is a lovely romance and I found it to be both touching and amusing. "In From the Cold", the second story in this book, goes back a few hundred years to tell the story of one of Daniel's ancestors, Ian MacGregor. I thought this story was wonderful! Ian and Alanna made a great pair and I really enjoyed the historical aspect of it. I would have happily read a much longer story about these two, but as it was it was still great!

5 out of 5 stars My Favorite Trilogy.......2007-06-01

I was recently introduced to Nora Roberts through her In the Garden Trilogy, which I only enjoyed two of the three. Since then, I have jumped head first into reading her books and have experienced quite a few enjoyable reads, both through individual books and trilogies. On a whim, I picked up these three books and, within days, I was finished with the third book. This would have to be my favorite of all her series and by the end of the third book, I was wishing that I hadn't gone through them so fast. The Gallagher family was a blast to read and I enjoyed everything from their family dynamic, to their pub and also the Irish setting. I've already passed them off to a co-worker and am looking forward to reading them again. Roberts also made me fall in love with Ireland through her wonderfully described setting and Irish tales. Highly recommended reading!

Do you believe in fairies? Do you have a fondness for the Emerald Isle? Do you believe in true love? You will after reading this enchanting trilogy by Nora Roberts. Thank goodness I purchased all three books at the same time as I couldn't wait for the pages to turn. The characters are so endearing, I often felt that I was inside Gallagher's pub or walking with them over the green hills of Ireland on a "soft" day.

You can never go wrong with a Nora Roberts romance novel and this is just one more great one in the list.

4 out of 5 stars Tears of the Moon.......2007-02-07

If you love Nora Roberts then, you will not be disappointed
I ride the train to and from work as this is " my time "
It would not be the same without one of her books. :-)

5 out of 5 stars A fine female central figure.......2006-08-20

This is certainly one of Nora Roberts' better novels. As always, she creates a realistic setting, herein the delightful village of Ardmore, County of Waterford Ireland. In fact, Ms. Roberts is about the best writer working today in creating a getaway setting for her plots. For this alone, the book is worth the time to read.

As an aside, the town Ms. Roberts describes actually exists, pretty much as we see it in this trilogy. There is a ruined church dedicated to Ireland's first Christian, St. Declan, and there is a round tower on the hill overlooking Ardmore and the sea on the south coast of Ireland. The population of Ardmore is about 300 people. However, there is no known pub there named Gallaghers. Too bad.

What makes this book stand above the first and third books of the Irish trilogy is the character of Brenna O'Toole, a young woman who works beside her handyman father and dresses like him. Readers have seen far too many frilly, bosomy heroines and young Lochinvar heroes. It's a pleasant departure to find a heroine full of contradictions and with earthy overtones.

The plot is more than somewhat predictable, alas. Anyone who has read one or two of this writer's novels knows exactly what is going to occur. Man and woman are introduced to the reader. They clash, even as they are attracted to one another physically. There will be a sex scene about half way through the book, in this case a far more specific scene than usual. Then there will be at least one or more similar scenes before the inevitable happy ending. The ending here is a bit of a downer, in that Brenna is, to my thinking, humiliated in a very painful way for no good reason. It leaves a rather bitter taste for the reader who has read it all.

But let us not quibble too much. Nora Roberts is a very good writer. Her settings, her characters, her dialogue--all are excellent. One can only wish that she might surprise the reader by not using the same plot formula again and again.

5 out of 5 stars An Awesome Book!.......2006-07-02

This is truly one of Nora Roberts' better efforts. I own around 70 of her books, and Tears of the moon is definately in my top 10 favorites. I found it to be engaging, relaxing, amusing, heart felt and endearing. The charactors are unique, diverse and very believable. Even the Fairie prince and the ghost, Lady Gwen, were believable. I enjoyed the fact that she didn't stereo type her charactors. The entire series was incredible, I would recomend this to any Nora Roberts fan, or to anyone new to Romance novels.

    5 out of 5 stars Love it!.......2005-12-09

I love this book so much. The story of the fae helping the humans and the great story line will just suck you into this book. I felt like I was in the book with how wonderful Nora Roberts explains who things are happening. Parts get a bit slow, but then it picks up and you are swept away again. Some sequels leave something to be desired but this sequel doesn't. It fits so well into the first. Well worth the few dollars and the time to read. Definitely a great book!!
