By far, best book in the Org Crime Trilogy.......2004-12-01

I really wish this three-book set would've been condensed into a SuperBolan. Admittedly, that would've meant trimming the plot down a bit, but as it stands the first two books in this trilogy were, in my opinion, a bit tedious. I certainly didn't think the premise, about a group trying to overthrow the rule of a small island, worthy of a trilogy, and I have a sneaking suspicion that the only reason this was made into a trilogy wasthat Gold Eagle wanted something grandiose to foollow the Conspiracy Trilogy of a couple years ago, which was, so far as I know, the last appearance of Johnny Bolan Gray before this trilogy.

Having said that, this book was quite good. Rare for a Bolan trilogy (at least according to my albeit limited experience), the second book ended on a cliffhanger with Bolan having been captured by the enemy. This book begins with Johnny and Keely Ross and Jack Grimaldi trying to find him, and things don't let up for the entire book. The problem of finding Bolan differentiates this from the "point-and-click" feel of the rest of the trilogy; "Find the next target, fight them; find the next target, fight them, etc. etc. ad nauseum..." At any rate, as good as this conclusion is, it isn't quite good enough to be worth slogging through the other two books in the set ... but it's much better than I'd figured after reading those books.

Not worth the price.......2007-05-06

First, I have read every Executioneer, Able Team, Phoenix Force, Mack Bolan & Stony Man book from #1 to now so I feel I know what I like.
I found STARFIRE to be so cut up with bouncing from one set of characters to another that it hardly made sense. Not only bounceing between Able Team and Phoenix Force, but several groups of "those that will soon be killed". It reminded me of someone who bought a medium size pizza to divide among 25 people. On top of that, there was so much useless verbage thrown in, sometimes right in the middle of a battle, it made the action hard to follow. The plot, if there was one, was almost impossible to determine what was going on, and who was the person at the bottom of it all and above all; why?
Take out about 150 pages of useless tripe and verbage, condense the action, follow a story line to an obvious stopping point before switching to the other set of characters and put it all in a 200 page book; it would have been much better.
When I finally finished the book, I felt that instead of paying for the right to read it, I should have been paid to put up with the mish-mash of characters, plots and unknown beginnings and reasons why so many people were getting killed. It seemed like the main point of the book was to see how fast Able and Phoenix could kill people in one place then be moved to another so they could kill some more. And also to see how close they can come to being killed, but by some miracle, survive almost unscathed.
If the future Stony Man books are in the same vein, there will be one less book I will have to but and read each month as I will stop wasting my time on this level of writing.
