3 out of 5 stars Saucer on Autopilot.......2007-02-09

Inception and Phoenix were two great novels, in my opinion, that dealt with the controversial subject matter of man-made UFOs. Phoenix finishes sometime in the early 70s. Genesis (book 3 of the series) is set in the mid 70s, but covers the same ground as Phoenix. With Millennium, I was expecting another great fictional work that incorporated into its text details of UFO incidents from the mid 70s onwards. What it does instead is introduce another set of characters who go about discovering the same old supposed hidden history regarding UFO incidents from the same time period covering the Project Sign/Grudge/Blue Book years. There are some sub-plots thrown involving implanting of abductees, with characters coming out with lines such as "It's like Invasion of the ****ing Body Snatchers!". I was so disappointed with this book. I've also read Vol 5 in the series and in that book Harbinson introduces a character called... "W.A. Harbinson"!, who is described as being a "self-plagiarizing hack". I guess he was aware that he was just recycling his old ideas with each passing book. As such then, I regard this book as a wasted opportunity. As some of the action is set at places such as Kirtland AFB then he could have perhaps written a 90s story involving folks like Paul Bennewitz and Phil Schneider.

It's not a bad book as such, and there are the odd flashes of brilliance, but the most interesting bit is the "Author's Sources" at the end. According to his website, he's working on a new version of his non-fiction book Projekt UFO, which I look forward to. Certainly, Antarctica does appear a mysterious place. Harbinson bases Mr Wilson in the "area of inaccessability", which is a real place. What he doesn't include in his books is the involvement of the British in Antarctica, which can be read about by clicking on "Articles" on the nexusmagazine website and some of the search results for "nsa antarctica" are of interest.

5 out of 5 stars Lift-Off.......2007-01-06

In this book, the mysterious Mr Wilson of the 1896-7 airship sightings features as a gifted engineer who defects to Germany to work for the Nazis to develop the foo fighter and the flying saucer. On his trail is an obesessed American intelligence operative in this inventive novel, based on fairly extensive looking research. Historical scientific figures such as Robert Goddard and Rudolph Schriever feature and the author vividly depicts the horror and madness of wartime Germany. Compelling and thought provoking. The sequel, Phoenix, can be downloaded for free from the author's website.

5 out of 5 stars Project Saucer, Book 1.......2006-07-29

I read this book a few years ago. Once i started to read this i could not put it down, quite simply, the best sci-fi book ive ever read.
Books 1-4 are absolute classics, book 5 is total rubbish, almost like someone else wrote it.

5 out of 5 stars Flying saucers : the beginning ..........2001-08-05

The amazing Projekt Saucer books are the most fascinating story ever writen about flying saucers. The whole story consist in five books : Book 1 INCEPTION (1991), Book 2 PHOENIX (1995), Book 3 GENESIS (1980), Book 4 MILLENIUM (1995), Book 5 RESURRECTION (1999). Just like George Lucas, Harbinson wrote Eposide 3 first, in 1980, and then the others. If you want to read just one book, read this one, GENESIS. Those books are quite hard to find, but they are all available on www.amazon.co.uk. These five books, representing about 3000 pages written over 20 years are a must-read foranyone interested in flying saucers.

5 out of 5 stars Inception.......2000-01-13

I absolutely love this book. Gripping, and thoughtful. Harbinson knows his stuff...anyone familiar with the Nazi aeronautical industry of the Second World War won't be able to put it down.

The second book boasts one of the most fantastic feats of plotting I've ever seen. He managed to get almost every single post WWW2 documented UFO sighting...and put it together into a coherent and scary tale.

I was starting to wane a little by the third book in the series, and the ending is a little ridiculous...but these first two books are little known classics. Snap 'em up now. They're fantastic.

This guy not only did his research on both science and UFO-lore psuedopscience, but writes a mean story, to boot.

2 out of 5 stars Suspending disbelief doesn't begin to describe it.......1998-04-17

The premise is certainly interesting, that UFOs are the creation of a brilliant, if ruthless, man and not extra terrestial in nature. Harbinson also keeps the book moving swiftly along.

I stuck with the series until mid way through the second book but in the end couldn't stomach it any more. It just got too silly. By the time the severed head (which had lived for 12 years from the early 50s) made ESP contact with an ESP soldier via a psychic and projected his vision onto tv screens I'd had enough.

Science fiction I love, science coddswallop I don't

5 out of 5 stars A 'must read' memoir for anyone who contemplates embarking upon a professional writing career for themselves........2007-01-06

      W. A. Harbinson's "The Writing Game: Recollections Of An Occasional Bestselling Author" isn't simply another instruction manual on how to write better or how to get published. It is instead, a candid autobiographical account of being a professional writer with more than thirty years of experience at making a living in the highly competitive and volatile publishing industry. That experience includes the writing of more than fifty novels, as well as a wealth of short stories, magazine articles, screenplay adaptations, and radio plays. This is a graphic and detailed account of living a life and pursuing a career fraught with the possibilities of artistic and financial failure. Enhanced with superbly articulated accounts of his dealings with editors, other authors, and showbusiness celebrities, "The Writing Game" is as entertaining as it is engaging, and a 'must read' memoir for anyone who contemplates embarking upon a professional writing career for themselves.

1 out of 5 stars Harbinson misses the mark- By a Long Shot !!!!.......2003-03-02

WOW, Mr Harbinson doesn't hold back when it comes to criticizing the works and morals of Eva Peron. Like Mary Main, he sensationalizes her story and makes her out to be a rather unsympathetic character with no morals or conscience and whose only ambition is to become LARGER than life- no matter what the cost. Poor Evita. I wonder if she would have known that after her death people from all around (and not just the "oligarchs" of Argentina) would taint her image and her legacy by accusing her of prostitution, torture and murder.

However, it's been 50 years since her death and someone please explain to me why SHE is MORE popular now in Argentina than ever before? For years, Military dictatorships in Argentina tried desperately to wipe out her memory by tearing her picture out of history books; by completely BANNING her name; by destroying her hospitals and by kidnapping her embalmed body and hiding it away. Filmakers and Artists have portayed her as a GLAMOROUS BUT AMBITIOUS MONSTER in movies such as "Little Mother" ( That malicious, soft-core european movie released in the early 70's), "Evita Peron" (with Faye Dunaway) and in that famous musical- What's it called?? But after the witch-hunt, EVITA still shines brighter than ever and her legacy HASN'T been tainted in the hearts and minds of Argentina's countless "poor" and former "Descamisados".

So I have to say to Mr. Harbinson "Nice try."

It's rather annoying how the author uses disrespectful and childish words and terms to describe Eva Peron. It is obvious to anyone reading this book that Mr. Harbinson was dazzled by Eva Peron's glittering sexuality and Blonde Good Looks and his tone throughout the book is rather immature leaving the reader with the sense that he/she has just finished reading a biography written by a pre-teen. The historical mistakes are also numerous. It is very sad indeed that some people will read this and actually take every GROUNDLESS accusation in to consideration. Like the musical Evita- this biography SHOULD NOT be taken SERIOUSLY at all. It is one-sided, false, and offensive and it takes the crown as THE WORST BIOGRAPHY ever written on Eva Peron. If you must get this biography, I recommend getting the original 70's version titled EVITA- A Legend For The 70's". That version at least has an excellent assortment of photographs of the lovely Evita while the updated "Saint or Sinner" only offers a couple. I must state however that I DO recommend this book to the die-hard Evita Fan, just so you get the ANTI-PERONIST view of Eva and as an example of the fierce passions this woman aroused not just in Argentina but all over the world.

Also, HIGHLY Recommended are the Marysa Navarro & Nicholas Fraser Biography "Evita- The Real Life of Eva Peron", J.M Taylor's "Eva Peron- The Myths of a Woman", Clive Foss's "Juan & Eva Peron" and the Photographic Briography "Evita- An Intimate Portrait of Eva Peron." Recommended to a lesser degree is Martinez's "Santa Evita" and A Dujovne Ortiz's "Eva Peron-A Biography"- if you can read spanish I strongly recommend the Spanish version of the latter which is much better than the English translation.

        5 out of 5 stars Great!!!.......2002-05-18

This book was truly great. The other reviews trashed it, but I think that it gave a true testament to the woman. The title itself is brilliant. She did sooo many good things for the Argentinian people, one of the first leaders they really loved. they obviously did not know about the things she and her husband did. She forced people out of the country that she didn't like and she spent so much money that the Argentines became poor, and it is still affecting them. W. A. Harbinson has done a very detailed and true story. Showing the good and bad. If anyone wants to really know about her life without any favoritism, read this book!!!!!

1 out of 5 stars Horrible, just horrible.......1999-06-19

The author put no effort into this book. You get the feeling that it's a real rush job. Read the biography by Navarro and Frasher. It's the real deal!

1 out of 5 stars He apparently didn't like the woman........1999-03-18

Mr. Harbinson has evidentally done only the minimum of research on his subject and in doing so developed a very negative opinion of Evita Peron. The use of derogitory terms are used through out the book - finding the same term over and over within the same paragraph or sentance. I am glad that this is not the only book written about this very egnimatic woman as it would taint a readers ability to make an informed opinion of Evita Peron.
