Wonderful Read.......2007-06-22

This is one of my top five favorite books of all time. It's incredibly well written. If you like animals (in this case rabbits), action and captivating characters, you can't go wrong with this book. It's a marvelous tale of family, friendship, loyalty, courage and survival. Some of the descriptions are a bit lengthy for my taste, but otherwise it's spectacular. Also of note, the movie adaptation holds pretty true to the book and is a good alternative for those who have difficulty reading, though there are a few scenes that may be too graphic for very young viewers. However, I ultimately found the book much more satisfying, as it was wonderful creating my own mental images of these adventures. Highly recommended!

This book is beautifully written. You forget it is only the written word, because the characters truly come alive. The story involves the rabbits poignant struggle for survival and happiness. Once you start it, you won't be able to put it down. I read this as a teen, and then recently reread it. I loved all the characters. This is one of my favorite fiction books. It is the type of book that you wish it never had to end!

This 476 page book was a long read but it was worth it with its twists, turns and immense detail. You'll never want to put it down, I know I didn't.
In Watership Down by Richard Adams a bunch of rabbits must make their way through the dangers in their life if they are to survive. They have to find a new home, one where they can live free, happily and with no humans. When they finally do make it to that place there are only male rabbits in there group so now they have to find they females that are held up in the Efrafa bunker like rabbit society without getting killed by both animal and human alike.
My most favorite parts are where Dandelion tells the stories about El-ahrairah rabbit. He was the chief rabbit to begin with in the very beginning of the story. He is their so called "Adam". They stories add a better twist to the book. I love all of the adventures he has. My most favorite story of his would have to be The King's Lettuce. It was a very crafty plan.
I thought that the theme of the story was finding your safe haven in life isn't always the easiest thing to do.
In the book Watership Down by Richard Adams the part that I liked best was the whole book. I wouldn't want Adams to change anything about the book. Maybe add a sequel to it is about it. I don't recommend this to people who don't like reading or animals. This book is a really long one and the main characters are rabbits.

WATERSHIP DOWN.......2007-05-25

WATERSHIP DOWN is a remarkable tale about the subjects of Leadership and Home all set within the world of rabbits. This classic is about how to lead others (a subject familiar to all cultures making this a truly universal story) and, surprisingly, the leader is not the smartest, strongest, swiftest, biggest, or most likeable of the group, but a leader who knows how to unite others, value others' contributions, and make decisions.

A great book that gets better and deeper every time I read it. One of my absolute favorites.

Watership Down.......2007-05-25

Watership Down is a captivating tale about a group of rabbits that have to leave the warren they've known all their lives. When one of the rabbits, Fiver, has a vision they decide to leave the warren. They take a few members of their warren with them on their adventure. On their adventure they go through many obstacles, but telling stories help lift their spirits. The main characters in this story are Fiver, a rabbit who is always paranoid about what is going to happen next, and his brother Hazel who tries to follow Fiver's ideas. When they finally find a new warren they must learn how to find food and shelter.

I would recommend this book for 8th graders and above, who like fantasy. Watership Down is boring in the first few chapters, but if you keep reading it gets interesting

Anatomy texts just don't come any better than this one. .......2007-04-20

At UCSD we take Human anatomy in the fall of our second year of medical school. Typically our faculty recommend a different text and I bought that book and used it for our first section, thorax. I wasn't impressed and so I started shopping around for a more student friendly resource. The Gray's Anatomy for Medical Students was just what I was looking for.

The front cover pulls you in as it sits there on the dining room table; it is just easier to start reading a book that looks like it has good pictures. When you open it up, you aren't disappointed. From the beautiful large illustrations to high quality radiographs, I was consistently satisfied with the attention that had been put into integrating structure with clinical relavance. I loved the color coded sections and the good sized, easy to read print. It is amazing to me how often publishers forget that med students read all the time and our eyes get tired. It is refreshing to pick up a course text and not have to squint to read it. Many of my classmates who had stuck with the faculty recommended text were envious of my beautiful, easy to read Gray's for Med Students.

On top of these obvious benefits, the text organizes the material in way that facilitates learning. Each section begins with a conceptual over view, the "Big Picture, and then gradually pares down the material by regional anatomy. The surface anatomy part of each section is extremely useful when trying to integrate your anatomy with physical exams and living bodies. Additionally, each section concludes with clinical cases that reinforce and highlight concepts that are essential for real world medicine and surgery.

The online Student Consult access was just icing on the cake. It was great to be able to search my text book from any computer regardless of if I had my text with me. I also liked being able to print images from the text for writing study notes.

Overall, I was extremely happy with this text for my medical school anatomy course. I've already been using it to review anatomy for the USMLE Step 1 and I'm looking forward to cracking it open again for a refresher on my surgery rotation this next year. I highly recommend this book!

Dense book with excellent illustrations and good text. Helpful but lacking solid overviews at the beginning of chapters and connections between systems. Also not very helpful index. I would look elsewhere for another text to accompany this one or perhaps a better all-around text.

Written in a logic way, so understanding anatomy is easier and more fun, and it is more than just memorising names. Excellent book when you are learning human anatomy for the first time.

first year med student. Found it overall pretty good - charts for muscles, attachments, ftns and innervations very helpful. Head and Neck section although long was ok but would definitely recommend using a suppliment text for that portion. Definitely will keep it around for a quick reference.

I was assigned to teach at the Master Degree class on "Facility Management" subject focusing on Hotel Facility. I have gone through several books regarding hotel design. I think this book is the best of all. Any designer who reads this book back to back will certainly understand the whole concept. For most boaters cruising is one part fun, one-part adventure, one part stress, one part food and one part character building - a pretty exhilarating and exhausting combination. The very detailed "what's near by" sections cover restaurants (names & price ranges, too), lodgings (rates), recreation (from golf and tennis to swimming and bowling), entertainment (cinemas to museums, tours, and live theater) , provisioning (including the nearest chain supermarkets, gourmet shops, farmers' markets, fishmongers, etc.), general services (from bookstores to hardware stores to full-service laundries), transportation (rental cars, courtesy cars, airports and limos, cabs, bike rentals, water taxis, ferry services, local busses, rail, etc.) and medical services (from 911 to hospitals to massage therapists to vets).

The Atlantic Cruising Club's Guides to Marinas are delivered in both print and CD-ROM formats (in one package). Each volume includes over 1,500 photographs - one of each marina in the Book, and 4-9 full-color photos of each on the CD-ROM. What an awful, shallow, boring money grad. Tales from Watership Down is a pale ghost of the original book. On its own, it is a bad read; next to the original Watership Down, it is a steaming pile of garbage.

I haven't read the first book yet, but since everybody else says this book is worse than the first, gosh, I'm going to love the first book. If there's the one greatest thing in this book I must capitalize upon, it would be Speedwell's Story. If you haven't read the book, and want someone to spoil for you, here are three words: sky-blue horse (Or is that two?) I like the El-Thingummy stories best. You should try this book if you like rabbits. I like rabbits!

Great book for developing a web based advertising solution........2006-08-30

Basically what this book is about is creating an advertising solution to fit your web business' needs. Not only does it give you the pro's and con's of different web-based techniques, but gives some nice examples. The book is easy reading with a lot of graphics to reinforce the text and is nicely laid out. I came up a solution for my site in less than a half hour. At the reduce price offered by Amazon, this book was well worth the buy.
